The seating and glass atrium was nice. Service was efficient. My wife had a peach salad which was very good. Wine was just ok. Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc were our favorites. The other wine choices (Rose and Cabernet Sauvignon) were underwhelming. The best part of dinner was dessert. My wife had crem brûlée and I had the chocolate flourless cake which was outstanding. First of all we went for Valentine's Day we had a reservation we got there about 15 minutes early and the hostess said we would be seated at our time cool. So we sat at the bar where we were never acknowledged at our scheduled time we got seated and we ordered a bottle of wine which was the best part of the meal. We ordered appetizers and a salad it took an hr to get our appetizers and the salad never came because after a hour of waiting on the app our dinner had arrived before we could finish the app I had a steak and my wife had risotto once the food had arrived it took the servers 10 minutes to bring me a knife to cut the steak and when he did bring it to me the steak was over cooked my wife said hers was ok but definitely not the best she has had for dessert we tried the crème brûlée and a coffee moose thing and again the brûlée was ok but mine was like something you would get at Publix I was disappointed after all that and they add an automatic gratuity on all tables an our server sucked but it's ok because I would have spent a lot more than I did because the service was so bad and never got things I did order. Breakfast buffet heaven! Versailles is located in the beautiful property of the Château Élan Winery and Resort. The restaurant has loads of delicious breakfast options, from freshly baked goods to a station to create your own omelette! With the price of the buffet includes not only food, but also any coffee or juices of your choice. The coffee tasted great, it was very rich and seemed as if it had hints of cacao! No cream or sugar needed! The buffet had different food options such as cereals, baked goods (croissants, bagels, toast slices, cheese danish, apple danish, etc.), oatmeal (regular and gluten free), granola/toppings bar, wide selections of in season fruits, and the hot food section. I highly recommend trying their home made granola, it was the best I've ever had! The hot food section was absolutely amazing. Their asparagus frittatas were so creamy and packed with flavor. If you aren't a fan of frittatas, the hot food section also had regular scrambled eggs. They also had gluten free chicken and regular pork sausage available. Lastly but certainly not least, I would like to give a special mention to Bobbie Joe, our server for the two times my family and I dined there. She made our experience 100x better with her bubbly personality, contagious smile, and her willingness to help us when we were having issues with our stay. I mistook a buffet-style restaurant for fine dining just because it's at a winery resort. It was far from a lavish experience although you pay a rich price. Per person is $25 without the mandatory service fee and gratuity. The breakfast buffet is limited with options and subpar in quality. It's a continental breakfast with store bought breads, out of season fruit, yogurt, Kellogg's cereal, and hot bars that are ready-made and made to order. The OJ is sour tasting, from concentrate, and the coffee is the low end. As for dinner, the dinner wasn't a buffet; it was table service. The menu was decent but costly ranging $15-$20 for an appetizer and $25-$40 for an entree; the steak did not come with sides, sides are a la carte. The restaurant was out of filet mignon, scallops, and duck, so we settled for the southern chicken, pickled shrimp as a starter, and bibb lettuce entree. The pickled shrimp was basically shrimp cocktail, the chicken was a thick, boneless breast with great tasting seasoning but the skin wasn't very crunchy, it was quite soft as if it was cooked much sooner. The sides paired with the chicken was cheesy, creamy fine grits (tasted like mashed potatoes) and spicy collard greens. I absolutely liked the grits but wasn't a fan of the collard greens and red pepper jam. The salad was very disappointing, I'm not sure how the salad was blundered, but the candied walnuts (substituted from almonds) with the goat cheese and balsamic vinaigrette wasn't a great combination. The wet lettuce ruined the taste and the goat cheese and water ruined the presentation of the meal. The best part of the experience was the sweet tea. read more

Priced at ~$28/pp we thought this could be a good deal and we landed there with high expectations. However, it was a let down. Situated in Chateau Elan, this place is a 40 min drive from Atlanta. We entered through the grand entrance of the estate and made our way to the hotel (where Versailles is located). The restaurant is located on the lower level of the hotel, surrounded by glass windows all around that bring in the perfect amount of light. Trust me you can get some amazing pictures here with the backdrop. We approached the hostess and were seated promptly in a rather full-ish restaurant. After our server came out and asked us for drinks, we made our way to the buffet. Breads - check Egg station - check Pastries - check Salads, soups - check Other foods - check Ok, so definitely no crab legs or shrimp. I felt the options were underwhelming. However, I decided to get started. I tried most of the food items (listed below with comments) Mushroom bisque - creamy, rich, and delicious. This was the best part of the meal in my opinion Pork Loin in wine sauce: felt a little chewy and not very warm but I was getting the flavors of the wine and spices mixed into the sauce, which were great Cheese Blintz - crepe with sweetened cheese. One of them had clumpy cheese while the other had a smoother textured cheese. The crepe was made perfectly and I rather liked this blintz. Breakfast potatoes - nothing special. Wish there was some garlic dressing or something to impart flavor to those potatoes. Vegetable medley - ok I guess Macaroni and more veggies - same as above Grouper - I actually liked this. Preparation was nice, and the fish was cooked to perfection. It melted in my mouth Eggs - made to order station. We got some omelettes, which tasted like they were made from some fresh organic eggs rather than egg beaters Waffles - at the egg station, we got some fluffy mini waffles. There was syrup, which was not too sweet or thick, and some jams to go along with the waffles Pastries (I tried the coconut cake, lemon tart, creme tart, cookies, but there were a few more that I skipped over completely) - I think Whole Foods makes better pastries. I would ask the restaurant to find a new pastry chef pronto. Cake was super dry with a layer of very sweet coconut cream. The others were just meh. I would have rather eaten the blintz or waffles again. As you can see, I wasn't impressed by the food at all. For $28, this place did not deliver on quality. I did like a few items but then again I have had much much better elsewhere. I will not be coming back here for brunch and do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I do however, see myself coming here for a wine tour to enjoy the picturesque surroundings. The filet mignon was served with mashed potatoes and broccollins which was cooked to requested temperature mashed potatoes were cooked to perfection . Wow we had quite the experience here. Needless to say we probably will never come back here. First, they removed the king crabs from their buffet, and kept the same price of the buffet. Thats fair, as king crabs are really expensive nowadays. What really stood out in our recent visit (on december 28) was that I read online AND was told that crab legs would be available over the phone only to drive an hour to get there and find no crabs. We asked the main manager lady, who seemed to be apologetic at first, what happened and she said many people were misled that the holiday buffet (which was 60$ per person including crab legs) was available for all weekends of december. She said sorry, and we were still unhappy as we confirmed before we drove an hour to get there, ready to pay 60/pp. We went up to her and asked if she can make things right w maybe a small discount or anything and this lady gets immediately defensive saying we cant prove anything and it doesnt say online that there would be crab legs and that she doesnt owe us anything. The internet doesnt work down at versailles so I couldnt show her at the moment, but I posted a screenshot of the webpage that states that the day we went had the holiday buffet with crab legs. I liked the fact that this restaurant on site at Chateau Elan had buffet options for every meal of the day. I only tried them for dinner and for breakfast, but both experiences were good. I particularly enjoyed the King Crab legs and Cocktail Shrimp bar at dinner. The Omlette Station and freshly made Mini Waffles at breakfast were nice as well. We had Georgiana (I believe this is how her name was spelled) and she made the night extra special. I failed to ask the manager for her name but she was also super attentive and helpful through the entire time. Good cost is a little high but quality is great (would go prepared to spend 200-250,00 dollars for a couple. Main course will vary from 35-69 dollars, salads around 20 plus protein, appetizers also from 30-50 and wines 12 a glass and around 50 for a bottle. My $10 glass of wine (that's made on-site) was less than a third of the glass full. The wine was very good though. The $55 dish (coffee rubbed ribeye) was a disappointment! I asked for the steak to be cooked medium. What I received was medium well. I sent it back. My second steak was also over cooked! The steak was about a quarter inch thick and about 40% fat, which is too small of a steak to easily make medium and too small for that price! The broccolini was well seasoned. The mashed potatoes had a weird salty, bitter and sour taste. They almost tasted like they had pickle juice in them. Yuck! Will not eat here again. Waste of money. read more

This was one of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. We had booked this 3 months in advanced for a bachelorette party of 6 people and were extremely excited. When we arrived, the waitress takes us away from the restaurant, into a carpeted conference room. The room had only 3 tables in it. Obviously, this was NOT the vibe/ambiance that we had expected and had seen when we first entered the restaurant. We immediately ask to be moved to a table that is inside the restaurant, as opposed to a conference room down the hall and they tell us that because we made a reservation, we were pre-assigned this table and can't be moved. I regret not just leaving then as it completely ruined the night. We had to sit at a large round table for 10 (even though we were only 6) so it was hard to hear each other. We ordered drinks and were told it would be at least 30 minutes until the drinks came out. The service was ok and food and drinks were fine but I just cannot understand why they would seat anyone there. I would have understood it more if we didn't have a reservation and they were making room for us. But we had booked this months in advance. Overall, the service at Versaille and Chateau Elan in general was a huge disappointment. I can't imagine coming back for anything besides the spa. read more

The waiter -who was great - asked me how I liked everything and he was truly concerned that I wasn't happy with the food. He notified the manager who came over to check on me and ask if they could exchange my meal. I should've said yes but at this point, I'm not trusting the flavors. I also added $8 or $9 worth of seasonal veges and I got 5 spriggs of blanched broccolini. I decided not to give up and went down for breakfast the next day. The buffet had great selections and the eggs were really good. The price points are just too high though for what you're getting so I can only do three stars. THE SCENE First impressions will lead you to believe an amazing meal is in store as the resort bellhops in their black uniforms greet you. You can either park your vehicle yourself or if you are feeling particularly jazzy you can make use of the valet service. Once inside you will find a grand staircase leading you down to a gorgeous atrium with a glass dome ceiling. Washed and bathed in sunlight, it is a marvelous space to behold. The setting here is one that has been host to several weddings, cotillions, proms and special events. A well sought after special events venue to be certain. Today we were here to celebrate a good friends birthday. She and her husband took full advantage of the resort by purchasing the Romance Retreat package. They spent the entire weekend at the resort being pampered in the spa and whatever else couples do when they are alone :-p The Versailles restaurant occupies the space to the right of the grand staircase. I've been here many times for the breakfast buffet back when pricing was around $14/person and I was a big fan. This was my first time coming for dinner. Current pricing: Breakfast Buffet | $17.95 Lunch Buffet | $19.95 Dinner Buffet | $39 (Friday & Saturday only) Sunday Brunch Buffet | $21.95 ---------- THE FOOD There are several stations, but in total not a huge variety. The 6 stations include a dessert bar, cold bar, grill/carving station, covered hot entrees/sides, salads/cheeses and a chocolate fountain. Salad lovers will enjoy the salad buffet, which has the most variety of any of the stations. The entire serving area is well tended and the food was average to very good on the flavor meter. However @ $39pp I was expecting more selection and more flavor. I am not much of a wine drinker, but this is a full-fledged winery with lots of in house selections if that happens to be your thing. Packages are also available for tastings. What I can appreciate is the beauty of the grape fields on the Resort grounds. Feels more like you are in California than Georgia. * TIP: One thing you should know is the shrimp and crab legs on the cold bar can be heated by their grill chefs. Just fill a plate with your selection and take it to the grilling station. How's that for awesome! ---------- THE SERVICE Staff is well groomed and wonderfully attentive. Don't be surprised if you hear a British, Scottish, Peruvian, Australian or some other accent when they speak. Many come from other countries as interns to train in the hospitality services here. This may not be as fair as it should be considering my husband and I just had the most petfect meal last night at the Blue Bicycle in Dawsonville. Versailles is advertised as the same class restaurant, a French inspired bistro, but pales in comparison. We came here for lunch and wine tasting the next day. Food was small in portions and expensive. I believe the chef didn't think about flavor profiles and what seasoning works best with each dish. The soup, chicken salad and salmon we ate had flavors that were off putting to the overall dishes. There was also a few flies buzzing around that didn't help with the overall experience. The bill for a meh lunch was 55.00 plus tip. Last night's wonderful dinner was 62.00. Our wine tasting was very good and reasonably priced at 6 samples for 10.00. That was fun. read more

Although nothing compares to a homemade holiday meal, Versailles' Christmas feast comes in as a close runner-up. This was my first time at Chateau Elan & it's quite beautiful, especially decked out in its full holiday regalia! I can't even imagine how long it took to decorate this place & how many hands were on deck to pull it off. When I found my way to the restaurant, I could tell I was in for a good meal - or at least a lot of options. They had ALOT of food y'all! It's times like these that I wish I had a bigger appetite - I knew there'd be no way I could try everything unless I camped out & ate for 3 days! There was definitely something there for everyone - kids, carnivores, vegetarians, etc. Not only did they have dozens of food stations, they also had a nice layout. The set-up easily accommodated the steady stream of guests examining each offering & deciding whether or not to add to their plates. And the placement flowed logically - the room opened with a salad station and ended with the dessert station. Went here for breakfast via the Chateau Elan package. Tried the Monte Cristo and the Bagels and Lox. Monte Cristo was a massive sandwich for breakfast, but was delicious. All of the items were well prepared and went together perfectly. An awesome way to start your day! The ingredients all tasted fresh and the proportions were perfect to have a little taste of each ingredient in each bite. The French toast was also cooked perfectly and added a nice texture to the sandwich. The Bagels and Lox were also good. The salmon tasted fresh and the other vegetables, especially the tomato was incredibly fresh. Service was also great at the establishment. The price without the package seems a little high for breakfast, but then again the quantity and quality is provides a fair price for their items. Overall, would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice place to eat, especially if they are staying at the Inn. read more

We come here all the time, but last week was a huge disappointment. There was a server who was sneezing with a mask below his nose walking around the whole restaurant while carrying peoples food. The food took a whole hour when the restaurant had only 2 tables. We had to wave our server in order to get water every time. One of the things that we ordered was a soup that was splashed all over the small plate under it. Its completely unacceptable to serve it that way. We also had a Cesar salad which had brown leaves on it. Very very disappointing. read more

This whole restaurant needs a renovation just like the rest of the place is undergoing. Drinks and food were barely edible. I rarely send things back, but this was by far the worst Manhattan I have ever had. The fried chicken was tasteless and ridiculous greasy. The only saving grace of this evening was our waitress was very nice and sweet, but I will probably not return to this establishment to eat unless major changes are made. Also had to battle the flies that are everywhere in this restaurant! Cannot even eat in peace with swatting those things away! We purchased the dinner buffet while staying on the property for a wedding. It was pretty pricey and I never eat the amount of food to justify paying for a buffet, but I did it anyway. After reviewing the a la carte menu, the buffet was the best deal. Service was pretty good, but I wouldn't expect much less since we were only one of a few tables that were taken. They had a decent variety of options from salads to soup, entrees to desserts. I really wanted seafood, but the options didn't look too appetizing so I tried some chicken and a beef option. Everything I tried was okay, but not something I'd have again. If staying here in the future, I'd probably go out and find a restaurant in town. This property was beautiful and I was a bit surprised that they didn't have more options for dinner. read more
