I would see other people that dined in ve served a butter crust pizza and it always looked so appealing. I finally tried it on a Wednesday. A 10' buttercrust with one topping for $12. You can't beat that. Oh my goodness was it buttery, cheesy, and mouthwatering good. I enjoyed every bite. It was more pizza than I could eat. I ordered it with sausage, extra cheese, and pepperoni. Came here for a birthday dinner after being recommended to come here by several friends and was not disappointed!! The food was overall quite good - we got the Cesar salad, spin dip, and two pizzas. The spinach and ricotta dip was good but not amazing, but the chips that came with it were SO good. They make the chips in-house and you can totally tell, I wanted to put them in my purse and bring them home. The Cesar salad was unexpectedly amazing, and the pizza was pretty good! I thought that the pizza was a little oily for my taste, but my husband really liked his and the rest of the group loved their pizzas as well, so it might just be a personal preference on my part. I have been a frequent customer of Vero Pizza and have spent well over $2,000 there in the past four months alone. Unfortunately, my experience yesterday completely changed my opinion of this establishment. I stopped in for lunch on a Tuesday and, without any argument, disturbance, or inappropriate behavior on my part, I was told that I was no longer welcome and would not be served. I was sober, calm, and simply there as a paying customer. The reason given was that they did not like my political views and asked me not to come back. As a customer, I found this extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Businesses should be welcoming to people with differing opinions, regardless of political beliefs. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone who values open discussion, differing viewpoints, or respect for customers regardless of their personal beliefs. read more

Had a opportunity to try this establishment with some friends. Settle in, it's going to be awhile. The ambience is fun, large dining area and a good crowd. All positive signs. The group decided to order fried calamari and cheese curds. Those are two things that don't interest me so I can't comment, but every last bite was eaten. We decided on one thin crust and one deep dish. The deep dish takes a VERY long time to make. Everything is prepared to order so if it's busy, expect a long wait. When they did arrive, they looked, smelled and tasted delicious. Even the folks from Chicago loved it. There is a nice large bar area with TV's if that's more your style. We went there for the first time to celebrate Valentine's Day. We ordered 2 10 inch pizzas. The deep dish was sausage, onion, and mushroom and the thin crust was the Mag Mile (sausage, onion, green pepper, and mushrooms). The deep dish is going to take between 35 and an hour to make so best to keep that in mind when ordering one. Absolutely worth the wait. The gravy (marinara sauce) was perfect. Not overly spiced and still had great flavor. The deep dish crust was perfectly cooked with a wonderful buttery flavor and not overly dry like some places. Having tried many Chicago deep dish pizzas over the years this is right up there with the best of them. We will for sure be regulars. The crowed was lively and the staff were friendly and upbeat. This place was was just right. The music was a little loud just like I liked it. The staff was all friendly and inviting. The ambiance was on point. So we ordered large onion rings, cheese curds and pizza fritta . Onion rings and cheese curds were tasty but no so much the pizza fritta. It's pizza dough lightly fried with tossed garlic butter but they might have been over fried because they were too hard. We also ordered a 10inch deep dish with mushrooms and bacon now that was very delicious.it came out popping hit. So definitely visit Veros place. I'm from Chicago and this pizza reminds me of home. Gino's East of Chicago used corn meal between the crust and the pan. It makes the crust crispier. Ifs little things touches like this that make a big difference. I have usually ordered the food to go. 30 out of 35 times. However I've eaten at the bar. The ambience is lively. We have eaten here twice while on vacation in Phoenix and it's only day 2 of our trip! Italian sausage and pepperoni were both delicious. We also tried the Italian Beef. I love vero. We used to live in Gilbert when they opened their first location called Buddyz. I'm No Chicago pizza expert. However I've had it in az at other places and a number of places in Los Angeles and honestly vero is the best. I get the butter crust with sausage. It's so good. This last batch we got the top was a little over done or I'd have dropped a 5th star. But this is excellent. I moved away for 7 years to Cali and every time we came back to az to visit friends we'd demand this. I'm so happy there's one in ahwatukee. We also got the calzone. Very good! But warning, read the ingredients. It comes with sauce inside and doesn't contain ricotta. Not what I'm used to BUT I added ricotta and it was delicious. I went light sauce. We have been to this location several times and have enjoyed the food. My husband is a Chicagoan so pizza is near and dear to his heart and would prefer it for every meal . Anyways, we had a late cheer practice and came in at 830...30 minutes before they were closing. We were met with smiles and pleasant service from the moment we were greeted to the moment we left. I just wanted to point this out as it is common in this day and age to have to hope for pleasant customer service and even more search for it when it is 30 minutes before closing time. Visiting Phoenix last week. I'm a big fan of Giardano's in Chicago, and my niece and husband told me this place was better then Giardano's. So we trekked over and had dinner. We ordered a deep dish with onion, sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms. Also my nephew ordered some fried cheese curds. My brother ordered a thin pizza. I must say, the deep dish looked exactly like Giardano's. I took the first bite and it tasted like Giardano's. BUT, the crust was the best I've had. It was crisp, and not doughy, and you could cut it with just the fork. Better than the last Giardano's I had. The sauce was great, and looked like it had a bit of tomato paste and also some crushed whole tomatoes. Cheese had a good pull and flavor! Definitely a great pizza. The cheese curds were excellent. I tried a bit of the thin pizza my brother had. It was good, but just didn't compare to the deep dish. Great place. In talking to the owner, she came here from Chicago and the restaurant in Illinois was callee Buddy's in Algonquin. They've recently changed the name from Buddy's to Vero....I'll have to go back next time I visit Phoenix. read more

Unfortunately VERO has yet to make it to the west valley verrado buckeye area with new shopping centers off the 10 on McDowell Goodyear and McDowell and surprise off 303 Waddell rd. VERO is the best Chicago pizza in the state of Arizona. Nothing comes close other pizza and sandwiches and ambiance. They make the best deep dish butter crust pizza and no Chicago pizza store can equal them. They opened way out in MARICOPA John Wayne pkwy in the middle of nowhere.. new shopping centers desperate for veros pizza and food.. building homes and centers everywhere and not one decent pizza restaurant or pizza maker 100 stars in chandler but round trip on the 202 is way too far. Someone needs to wake up if you build 3 in this area veros would be the three best pizza shops in the west valley hands down. Grew up in Brooklyn with 100' of pizza shops. I've never tasted any that topped VERO. Need to pray for veros out by verado community building new homes all over Buckeye it's a win win situation wher instead of one round trip we can eat it every week. Please seriously build here.
