Our food was delicious but unfortunately the service was terrible. we had to ask for water and bread fheee times before it was brought to our table. We asked for ice several times and it never showed up. There was no dressing on the salad. I asked for some and it came out like a thick paste instead of a vinaigrette. There were two tables sat after us but were served and paid their bill before we got our food. Our server said he didnt know what was taking so long and offered free dessert. When the food finally arrived only 3 of the 4 meals came out and we waited another 5 minutes for the final meal. We asked to see the manager and he defended the server and said we got our food in a reasonable amount of time which was close to an hour fifteen. We asked several other wait staff for ice, water and dressing and they ignored our requests too. It appeared as they were not working as a team but each man for themselves. I preface this review with two notes: this is a true story that happened to real people, this is not a script from a sitcom and I really was looking forward to going to this restaurant. Allow me to set the scene: we were a group of 12 friends with a reservation for a 6:45 table outside. We all arrived at the restaurant by 6:35 pm. Our leader checked in with the hostess desk at 6:35 once all guests arrived and was told our table would be ready in 10 to 15 minutes.....tick,tick, tick. At 7 pm we check back with the hostess stand and were reprimanded by the hostess for requesting an outside table....tick, tick, tick. After much prodding we were seated at 7:30, 45 minutes after our reservation time and 55 minutes after we checked in. We are seated at a table for 8 with 12 place settings. They expected 5 adults to share two benches that had arms on them. We grabbed a chair from another table and squeezed in to this situation. We were greeted by our waiter with the statement:"we do not serve tap water, if you want water you have to pay for it." Nice way to greet 12 squished guests who have been waiting 45 minutes for a table. At some point, a server drops a red glass of wine behind us and it splatters on two guests. The statement from the server:"it will dry." No apology, no, let me get you something.. Orders are finally taken, I order a dish and specifically ask for no tomatoes and no onions. The waiter giggles and says no onions are included in that dish but I will note it. When my dinner arrives it has onions and tomatoes. Another guest is handed my plate. When I bring it to the waiter's attention he grabs the other guest's dish and switches it will mine and then admonishes me because I am not smiling The servers proceed to bring the remaining 10 dishes and begin to auction off the dishes because they have no idea who ordered what. There are four chicken parm orders. There are three with gigantic pieces of chicken and one with a piece half the size. Then the best I saved for last. They break a glass next to me. It shatters all over my legs. The response of our server: "I don't see any blood", no apology, nothing. What a night. Perhaps the owners need to give their staff a few lessons in hospitality and how to treat customers. Seriously, no water, 45 minute wait, seating 12 at a table for 8, a hostess who reprimands customers, waiters that do not know the meaning of an apology? Where were these people raised? I am saddened by this experience. We live in Naples all year and I would hate to think how visitors would feel if they were treated this way. Not a good look for Naples, 5th Ave or this restaurant. read more

The waitress spoke quickly and quietly, pressuring us to order without giving us time to go over the menu. It offers other things such as seafood, steaks and many Surf & Turf options and you will definitely eat well, but just as well as you would anywhere else in Napleas. Nothing truly memorable. I have to tell you that we selected Vergina because we were meeting friends and were able to get a reservation the day before. We were so pleasantly surprised to have a fantastic meal outside on the patio, which was a very nice space. My wife and her friend both ordered the lobster ravioli, and they loved it. I stole one of my wife's ravioli and it was fantastic. I had the Branzino and it was delicious! Our other friend had the pork chop which he enjoyed. I am usually a little picky, so I don't understand how Vergina only gets an average 2.9 rating. It far outdid La Pescheria that gets a 4.5 rating. By the way, our server, Heike, was awesome! I went here for lunch with a rather large group- my parents, siblings, & great aunt + uncle; I had some reservations as I can be a bit of a Yelp snob and try to stick to restaurants with 4+ stars, but I was pleasantly surprised. It is on the fancier & more $ side for sure. I ordered the four pear fiocchi, it had an intense but tasteful variety of flavors! Some other notable dishes- my father had the PESTO GNOCCHI WITH SCALLOPS which had a good ratio of scallops to pasta; my mother had the Monticello which wasn't as good as the pastas but not bad. read more

It was a super hot day and they were very nice to accommodate us given that we had no reservations, but it was 4:30 PM. and we did sit outside. There is a lot of staff and our service was just fine. That is about the only positive thing I can say about any of our dinners. I did not take pictures. The only reason I'm leaving this review is so that hopefully the chef can understand that you cannot cook seafood to death and serve it. I did not say anything at the restaurant because the waiter did not ask why we did not eat our food and I was in no mood to go through the dance. I was starving to death and I wanted to go to dinner, which we did go to another restaurant and have a full dinner. We had chicken Parm, the worst we have ever had. There was a very odd spice like cardamom that was so pronounced, and there was no salt and the pasta was mush. Literally like a school lunch. We then had a Chopini with seafood that was so overcooked it was horrible. Normally this is one of my favorite dishes. The mixture of fish stock and fresh tomato is usually amazing. This was literally tasteless, flavorless overcooked, seafood, in what tasted and looked like Campbell's tomato soup. I kid you not. The last was edible, and that was the Bronzino. However, it had no flavor you had to literally salt it to death. There was a crazy amount of boiled spinach that tasted like hospital food as a side. Best happy hour on 5th Ave South!! 1/2 price on entire food menu and most of the drinks. Portions were huge, not small for happy hour. Our gullets enjoyed eggplant Parm, calamari, Wagyu, meat, balls. Stumbled along this place because me and my friend was walking down fifth Avenue shops and restaurants to check out which restaurant was the busiest to go eat at. I'm new to Naples so I did a little social media and yelp review research on what to eat on 5th Ave. this place in particular wasn't really on my list because the upper reviews look bad. But a night out with girls they offered us free drinks if we dined in. We told them we would be back after we checked out some other places to see, but we eventually came back here. The place is big has dim lighting. They also have a bar in the back where they were playing live music on a Wednesday night which soon became crowded and people were having a good time drinking by the bar. As promised, they offered us two glasses of champagne. We looked at the menu and we started with the appetizers, the meatball with ricotta and a salad. The food came in seconds it felt like the food was just waiting there to be served. The meatball with ricotta appetizer was not flavorful. The tomato sauce was lacking I was not impressed unfortunately. The salad was good, but I didn't order an entrée because it seemed like yelp reviews were right. So we finished our drinks and ate our appetizers and salads we left. read more

Unfortunately, we will not ever be returning due to; Server she was in her mid 30s working outside, short blonde with a ponytail, extremely rude, dismissive, unorganized and lack of knowledge after waiting half an hour for her to check on us, which she never did. She aggressively walked up to me and my child and said we're dining and dashing she is a complete idiot and should be terminated approaching a guest arguing with them this behavior I find extremely unprofessional and disgusting.. The food was not fresh. The pasta had no flavor very bland and our chicken Parmesan came out dry and rubbery twice we walked away from the table extremely upsetting and could not consume any of the product. I should have know better, all the signs were there: -a person out front hawking people to come in for happy hour -1/2 price on all items all day -Would only let us sit outside or the bar for the promo -Shelves of Hookah's - wait, what? Is this a restaurant or a Hookah lounge? - guitar player that played along to pre-taped music- pleasant enough -Big place with a touristy vibe. Food: Mediocre at best, drinks were made with cheap tasting liquor, bread was good, meatballs were ok, shrimp scampi was decent with too many peas, but not worth going out of your way for. Joneider wasn't exactly doing much, took the order and gave the check but took time to get things when asked. What they do to make up for the reduced prices is telling me they can't give me a glass of water. I had to buy the PELLEGRINO bottled water for $9.50. So do the Math. Half priced menu? Don't think so. They won't tell you the price unless you ask. Available in two flavors. So my half off dish is no longer half off. Add the $9.50. They've been doing this a long time. My wife needed water so we got it. Two dame entrees for my wife and our friend were always good, the Branzino. They take home some of it. Unable to finish there. The salads are generous and could be shared but don't tell them. There's a $6 or $7 sharing charge. Just share it separately with your wife. My appetizer was good. No big deal, prosciutto and melon. I order the pork chop which looked great on another's plate, juicy, nice. Asked to have it medium or even medium rare, was promised that. Came back well! Even difficult to slice. And very dry, not juicy. I never said anything and I understand that. Every table was taken with us on the patio, outside on the side of restaurant and every table inside. Hundreds of people. I didn't want to wait another 45 minutes which we did. Didn't even eat half the chop. The WORST. The ONLY pork chop that's great is at Bravo in Mercato. Should not have ordered it. My vcoffee was only a half a cup. Took over 10 minutes to get the cream. Gulped it down and couldn't wait to get out of there. Very uncomfortable. We dine out a LOT and all the other restaurants are better. They don't nickel and dime you forcing you to drink a $9.50 bottle of tasteless carbonated water. The orange flavored bottle has no carbonation. Hopefully more will be upset over this. You've been warned. We're done. Sad, they've been like this for years. As a party of ladies, we dined at lunchtime to celebrate a friend's birthday. I read reviews beforehand and they were all over the place. I found them to be quite accurate...some good, some bad, some "meh". The food was passable, the service was just okay and the price was about what you'd expect for a restaurant on 5th Avenue. That being said, for 5th Avenue, I was hoping for something a little more special. With all the many restaurant choices, and given an unremarkable experience, we doubt we'll venture back. read more

Good food. Bar was very busy. I was not a huge fan of the oats with clams. However everykne else really enjoyed the various other items including calamari and meatballs. Seafood and fish all good. Service wasn't the best. He didn't check on us very often I saw other tables getting bread with dinner. We did not but maybe you had to order it. My only negative. Very crowded restroom area in back of crowded bar and gets trashed by the bar goers so not the cleanest (they try). Worth a visit for a good bar scene and good food. read more

We made reservations 10 days ago at 4:30 and went to the restaurant and was greeted by Sophia, who was extremely rude and said that she would have to seat us inside after we requested outside. I saw a table leaving and asked the waiter if they were about to leave, and Sophia came over and told me (the customer )that I was extremely rude TWICE. I asked for the manager and he said he would go and hear her story and get back to us, which never happened extremely disappointed with the service. 4 of us had lunch reservations for 1:30. There were 2 tables left in the front outdoor seating area. Inside tables and bars were unoccupied. FOOD: Excellent. The calamari Fritti also has zucchini, which is a yummy combination. The calamari was cooked perfectly and the coating on the zucchini was light and tasty. The beef carpaccio was thinly sliced, melt in your mouth delightful. Topped with arugula and a light dressing. The scallop gnocchi was perfectly cooked (both the scallops and gnocchi) and the pesto had a nice texture and fresh flavor. The Ave salad was wonderful combination of lettuce, nuts and fruit, perfect for lunch. SERVICE: Jose was quietly attentive. Waters and wine glasses often refreshed. BAR: By the time we left, the bar inside was full. The prices are a bit high here, but the happy hour is from 3-5 so it seems a popular spot to get 50% off the menu and other bar drink options. They post the HH menu on their web site so you can get a look. I didn't see any restrictions where you have to sit at the bar to get the HH prices. ATMOSPHERE: Great spot to eat on 5th and people watch. I did note that the tables closest to the entrance seemed to have pesky flies. Not sure if that is always the issue, but I'm glad we were not at those tables. read more

What a disappointment at Vergina tonight. We had a 6 PM reservation arrived at 5:50 and we were told to wait 15 to 20 minutes after 20 minutes we inquired and said it would "just be a little bit because we wanted an indoor seating" they offered outdoor seating, but it was still 91° & I did not want to get bitten by the mosquitoes, so we waited inside. Had a couple drinks came back out and after 40 minutes of waiting, we were told "no still no tables" although we had seen three high top tables in the bar and two tables in the main dining room that had been open ever since we came in. For 40 minutes they were vacant. When we inquired and we were told those were "four people seats and they did not want to fill those two" what they really said was that they would rather have zero dollars then the amount of money we would've spent on dinner for 2 because we would've been finished in 40 minutes. As year-rounders we came to them when few people did over their years. The man and woman at the outside stand were very defensive in their remarks and poor performance. We stopped to cancel our 6pm reservation at 6:40 & we were met with remarks "we offered you an outdoor seat"instead of saying graciously, we're sorry we couldn't serve you. That kind of attitude is why we'll never be back. Thanks for for having 50% off menu, not preparing for reservations and leaving tables empty. Does having a reservation mean nothing it's a reservation and I reserved my table. Not very good business sense. Downtown Naples has many restaurants that have a lot better attitude. read more

Honestly, I don't get the bad reviews. We went for happy hour today and everything was top notch! The waiters were polite, offered great service, and kept checking on us. The food was to die for and I'm not easily impressed! Here is what we had: Calamari fritti - 10/10. Light crispy batter. Plump, juicy, and soft calamari, paper-thin zucchini, zesty tomato sauce, and sweet chili sauce. Not oily, not heavy, just perfect. Baked eggplant parmesan - 8/10. Well cooked eggplant, plenty of tomato sauce, and parmesan. I would've preferred a bit more grilled eggplant flavor, but, overall, it was well executed. Pear fiocchi - 10/10. This dish is a pure gem! Delicate pasta "purses" stuffed with creamy pear and ricotta filling and served in truffle infused white sauce. I was really to lick the plate clean! Lasagna - 9/10. Thin pasta layered with delicious meat ragu, beshamel, mozzarella, and tomato sauce. Cooked to perfection! Chioppino - 9/10. Juicy calamari, mussels, shrimp, clams, and lobster tail served in savory sweet thick San Marzano tomato based broth with intense fish flavor (in a good way). My only small complaint is that the lobster tail was a little overdone for my taste. Our friends had branzino, NY strip steak, and fettuccine al limone which I didn't try but they said they liked their food. The cherry on top? Everything is 50% off during happy hour (3 - 5 pm)! For the 7 of us, we paid less than $300, including cocktails! read more
