As someone who absolutely loves Italian food, Venucci Italian did not disappoint! I started with a Moscato featuring rose petals and peach flavoring, and it was perfectly sweet and refreshing. The standout dish for me was the fettuccine Alfredo. I could genuinely tell it was made with love and care. It instantly reminded me of how Anton Ego felt in Ratatouille. It was like I was reliving the very first time I tasted fettuccine Alfredo. It was rich, comforting, and absolutely delicious. The service was incredibly friendly and warm, making the experience even more enjoyable. The ambiance was charming, cozy, and spotless. We were antiquing in LaGrange and had worked up an appetite. On Main Street we found three restaurants that were recommended, and tried Venucci. It was 1:30 on a Wednesday, and we were surprised to find the restaurant still full of customers; but there was a nice table for us. I'm always happy when a restaurant has several choices of wine and beer, a good assortment of appetizers, salads, main dishes and desserts. So far so good. We started with wine and a Caesar salad, followed by fettuccine Alfredo and chicken Marsala. The servings were so large, that despite our hunger, we took enough home for our dinner. The food was very tasty. And the restaurant is located in a historic building, with exposed brick, and displays racks of wine, and has a bona fide pizza oven. This place is amazing! My dad's boss took my whole family here years ago. The staff was nice and the ambience was calming with the dim lighting. The food was to die for! The plates for the pasta were closer to bowls and the portions were enormous. My mother enjoyed her meal tremendously and she normally is very picky. I was in Atlanta area for a day and was taken to Venucci for lunch. What a lovey little place. Food was delicious, and everyone was friendly. Charming atmosphere as well. I had the shrimp and scallop diavolo, My colleagues had one of the specials. It was a lot of food and I was only able to about half. The shrimp and the scallops were great and the sauce was very good. As we were there for lunch we didn't have any drinks other than iced tea. They did have a pretty good wine menu. I went to Venucci earlier this week to celebrate my birthday and the entire experience was absolutely wonderful! The food was delicious. The service was great! Shelby and the rest of the staff were all very nice and attentive. There were so many good food choices that it took everyone a while to make their final decision -- Shelby was patient with us as we decided. The restaurant is big enough for everyone to have their own space with their dining party, but small enough to give a private dinner feel. Venucci came highly recommended from a couple of people as I'd put out some feelers for a good meal in Lagrange. I went in ready to love it but the food just wasn't good. From the bread and oil at the start of the meal to the entrees, we just didn't like any of it. Here's what we had and why it was a no: --bread served with herbs and oil. We were told the mixture included garlic, basil, and (I'm forgetting one), and Parmesan. I loved the serving size and that they left the bottle of oil on the table in case we wanted more. The taste, however was bland. It needed salt to bring the flavors out. The bread was clearly freshly baked and already sliced (which was very helpful), but hubby said it was also in need of salt. --wedge salad. This is one of my top 3 favorite things to order; if I see it on a menu, I will always get it. This one had tasty toppings, but the lettuce was largely yellow and thus the taste was off. I couldn't finish the salad. Hubby also had a house salad that he didn't finish. --crab cakes. These were easily the worst thing I ordered. Sad, because I was so excited for them. I loved that the menu description noted that it had corn; I love corn so thought it would be novel. Nope. The first thing I noticed when the plate hit the table is how poorly formed the patties were (see the picture). The taste was like a cross between hush puppies, fishiness (not crab), and corn bread. I took one bit and decided I was done. They were mushy and just not good. --French onion soup. This was probably the best thing I had and even it wasn't as flavorful as I'd like. I ate about 2/3 of it. --children's grilled cheese. I which I had known it would come on what looked like French bread. My daughter didn't touch it. The French fries in the side were well made but had no seasoning. I guess the theme here is needing salt. --children's chicken tenders. My baby girl ate them so I guess they were fine. --eggplant Parmesan. It didn't look appetizing to me but my husband ate a good bit of it. He said the taste was bland and that it had many more noodles than he expected. Based on the food alone, I won't go back here and wouldn't recommend it to others. I also resent being nickle and dimed with up charges regarding using a credit card. If a business cannot afford to pay for credit card fees, raise your freaking menu prices. This restaurant closes at 2pm daily and closes for 3hrs and opens back up at 5pm for dinner. So it is extremely inconvenient to people that want to have good Italian food here in Lagrange. I had this restaurant picked as a possible dine in after we finished at a day pass at Great Wolf Lodge. It's located less than 10mims away. Really nice quaint downtown Lagrange location. We went at around 530pm and we were greeted right away. Our server was Jayda. She was very informative and pleasant. Evwrything sounded amazing so we ordered the mussels,artichoke,and French onion soup as appetizers. The bread was ok that was probably the only thing not 5 stars. The dipping oil was delicious and flavorful. The fried artichoke was lightly fried with a delicious mouthwatering brown caper sauce...it was so good I would have asked to take the sauce home. The mussels were even more delicious. The sauce was perfect. The mussels were absolutely delicious. French onion soup was magnificent with the light broth that was full of flavor. Dinner...well dinner had a salad and when I asked which dressings Jayda said they have an in house dressing white balsamic..i fell in love with it that I bought 2 bottles to take home. Dinner...now i ordered the special that night which was a spicy red sauce with salmon spinach shrimp with angle hair and man...it was perfect. The salmon was perfectly cooked with a flake and a brown crust of blackened seasonings. The shrimp was delightful and the spinach was fresh and delicious. My son loves everything we had as well as an order of the kids pizza and chicken alfredo and we added mushrooms. His pasta was delicious I'd do it again over the pizza anytime. We are in town for a concert at Sweetland Amphitheater. This place was recommended by my brother who lives nearby. We walked in around 5:10, a party of 3. They don't have a lot of seating, but only a few table had guests. We were greeted by a young friendly girl who asked if we had reservations. We said no and then the hostess said the earliest she could seat us was 7-7:30, because they had reservations coming in around 6:00. Absurb that they couldn't serve us in 45 minutes when the restaurant was basically empty. They lost a customer and probably over $100 read more

I am a gourmet cook and haveI lived in Italy for two years. I love good Italian food however, this restaurant misses the mark in every way. I have eaten here four times with friends and tried four different entrées. Each time I found food nearly inedible, something about it is just not right, almost rancid. I don't understand all the good ratings Venucci gets. After each visit, I swear I won't go back but it's hard to pass up a social evening with friends. Me and my sister had a delightful dinner at Venucci. All dinner entrees come with fresh baked bread (so good!) and a salad. But make sure you don't fill up on bread because your meal will arrive soon! The eggplant parm was delicious and served on a bed of spaghetti. The eggplant was unique - sliced very thin so there were many layers. The only thing I wasn't a huge fan of was the sauce. The flavor was amazing, but there were a lot of large tomato and onion chunks in it, and, personally, I prefer it to be smoother. My sister ordered the cheese manicotti with alfredo sauce. You can choose the sauce you want which is nice. So if you prefer something less rich, try the classic tomato. All in all, a fantastic dinner! We scheduled a reservation at Venucci's to celebrate a friends birthday-party of 3. Before we were even halfway done eating our main course, our server was asking us if we needed to go plates. She continued to approach our table rushing us to leave. We asked for dessert menus and ordered a dessert and she asked us if we would like our dessert to go. We were seated in the front of the restaurant and could see that there was no line or people waiting on a table. There was also an empty table right beside our table. The worst part of our experience was one of us went to the bathroom and while in the back of the restaurant waiting to use the bathroom overheard one of the staff members (the hostess) talking about us and how we had stayed there too long. We have never felt more disrespected and unappreciated as patrons. This was not a good experience and we will not be returning to this restaurant in the future. read more

We were able to park right in front of the restaurant, walk in and get a table. We were greeted at the door by a very friendly person. We were in LaGrange, GA for the weekend. We happened upon Venucchi totally by accident. We had originally wanted to eat at Mare Sol, which is across the street. However, Mare Sol's draft system was down, so we left and went across the street to Venucci. Venucci was packed with people. They have an extensive wine list and have a few beer choices in cans...their choices were a lot better than Mare Sol. The only drawback to Venucci is they don't have any beer on tap. But, the food certainly made up for the lack of draft beer. They serve warm bread with herbs and olive oil. The entrees are HUGE. My husband ordered lasagna, and I had eggplant parmigiana...both entrees were very good. We both had to have to go boxes. One of their salad dressings is unique...a tomato bleu cheese. They crush fresh tomatoes and add bleu cheese...and probably other stuff, but they didn't tell me the entire recipe. Hubby had the tomato bleu cheese dressing and said it was very good. I had the white balsamic vinaigrette, and it was very good. If/when we are ever in LaGrange again, we will definitely go back. If you are ever in LaGrange, give it a try. read more

The sauce was lighter and very flavorful. She gave me a little and I wished I had more. The service was excellent. We had the NY cheesecake for dessert but not much strawberries with it, it said there were strawberries but they were small. But the cheesecake was delicious and thick like NY cheesecake. It was a delicious dinner here last night just before a movie in LaGrange. The hostess staff were welcoming and our waitress was great. I tried one of the specials with Quail. I'd never had Quail before so I was a little apprehensive but the meat had a delicious flavor and the mashed potatoes, spinach, and mixed vegetables were all excellent complements and were all perfectly cooked. I just wish there was a little bit more meat on the dish, because the Quail, which I never knew, was somewhat difficult to eat in a "dignified" manner. LOL! In order to get the meat off of them bones, you gotta use your hands--forget the fork and knife. Dinner culminated with a delicious and rather large helping of Tiramisu. Fast service and the servers were so sweet and personable. Like glad to have you there. We tried to go with a party of 10 but they were closed for renovations which was stated on their voicemail. Fast forward a few days later and we went to dinner on our own and picked Venucci. The mozzarella sticks are great and fresh. The warm bread with the oil and spices is worth a repeat trip. This review would be 5 stars if it was just based on the food. The food is outstanding! I had the Chicken Melanzan, which is lightly breaded chicken topped with eggplant, mozzarella and a tomato cream sauce over fettuccine. Holy crap was it good. I chose the red blue cheese dressing for my salad because it sounded interesting and it was delish. The complimentary bread was also very good. We were too full to order dessert, but the ones they had on display looked amazing and they are made in-house by their pastry chef. Now to the not-so-great part. In order to get to the bathroom, you have to walk through the prep area for salads and drinks. The salad ingredients are in something similar to what you would see at a buffet except there's no sneeze guard. Like I could literally put my hand in the lettuce as I walked by if I was a weirdo. This would be strange even before Covid times. The other negative part is the 4% surcharge if you're paying by card instead of cash. This is not mentioned on their website, which is also how you view the menu via QR code. So if you're looking for a great meal and don't mind some oddities, give this place a try when you're in LaGrange! read more

So I had quite a shock when I received the bill to find there were hidden charges, and it was going to cost more than I'd anticipated. I could have paid with cash had I known. Maybe people who live here and eat here regularly know this but since we were from out of town we didn't and the server didn't let us know. Also, make sure you make reservations. Excellent restaurant- Alfredo is some of the best we have had. We had Joe's Chicken which had Alfredo sauce and Chicken Manzana(?) which had a tomato cream sauce. Both were excellent. The meal began with bread and seasoned, cold pressed olive oil. Salads came with our pasta dishes and we added an inexpensive Riesling at $24 for the bottle.
