Excellent food & service! Halibut is my favorite! Small quant restaurant and it's BYOB! Quality good food

I read some good reviews and decided to try this place. I walked in and asked for tuna, but they were out. They did not offer me a menu so I asked if they had sea bass, and they said, yes. I said "I would like that to go. What are my side options?" They said, "You don't really get options. It just comes with certain things. You get mashed potatoes, asparagus, and you get to pick what kind of salad dressing you want." I chose blue cheese. They said it would be a fifteen minute wait for my meal, and I asked for a cocktail menu. They said they don't serve cocktails. They did not ask me if I wanted a water. Sea bass is supposed to be delicate, juicy and tender with a bounce back when you poke it. It is crispy on the outside and tender in the middle. I order it every time I go to bonefish grill, and that's what I expected when I came here. It was grossly disappointing. I honestly don't even think that fish they gave me was sea bass. It was much too thin. It was soaked in an overwhelming amount of lemon. The mashed potatoes and greens tasted like lemon. It was like my entire meal had been marinated in lemon juice all day. Yuck. There was no sweetness at all. It was just bitter like strsight lemon. This "meal" cost me $42. I was back at my hotel before I realized how bad it was. Amazing food here, the ribeye steak sandwich is my favorite for lunch, it's sooooo good! But honestly can't go wrong with anything here! Service is always great as well! Burgers are fantastic just like they were made in your backyard on a Sunday afternoon! read more

Small little restaurant in downtown LaGrange. The place itself is a little rathole, but we'll worth a visit because the service and food are excellent! Went for a business lunch and my party of 5 had a bit of a wait due to limited seating. Once we sat down had a quick look at the menus and all decided on a burger with fresh cut fries and slaw. The Cart Barn Grille blows me away every time I eat there. It might not look like much more than a burger/diner type of place, but the seafood is fantastic. The fish and seafood are cooked perfectly and retain a delectable flavor and texture--no rubbery scallops here! The salads are fresh and a fantastic option for lighter fare. I love taking my out-of-town guests there because they are always delightfully surprised. The ambiance dictates a low-key atmosphere where folks dress casually and enjoy the BYOB option. Food comes from long time scratch recipes developed by Tony Bishop at the original cart Barn. Service was good, but the food was fresh and delicious. They have great crabcakes from fresh blue crabs. When my company has visitors from out of town, I hear this place as a constant recommendation. We looked it up and liked the pictures. We initially thought the prices were high, but if the food matches the price - I could care less about price. So we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was nice. Very good service! The food at the Cart Barn was under seasoned, and not by a little bit. I got 2 ribeye steaks and was underwhelmed by the cuts of meat. Don't get me wrong. The food wasn't bad, but it definitely was not worth over $200. The price point for Cart Barn is comparable to that of Longhorn. Between the Longhorn and Cart Barn, I would recommend Longhorn. If looks could be deceiving, this place would be the poster child! Inside of an unassuming old building attached to a driving range is a rock solid, hole-in-the-wall dive with some seriously kick-ass food! Our large (golf-nuts) group stopped here for a lunch meal while on a trip. Everyone was completely satisfied with their meals. Most of us had some sort of sandwich...Cuban, Burger, Shrimp Po-Boy...and they were all cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful. Their fried were crispy and not greasy, which is always a plus. I know at least one person got crab cakes and he thought they were quite tasty as well. Do yourself a favor and give this place a try...just don't try to wander off with one of the large winner's checks hanging from the wall! You'll see what I mean when you get there... read more

A real surprise. If you live in the area you may remember their former location on Whitesville Road. They have reopened in a place on Jefferson. A tad pricey but the food and service were excellent. I would recommend lunch as the ideal time to acquaint yourself with them. The prices are not TOO outrageous (approximately $2 for a tea, $12 or $13 for a sandwich or salad) and the food is very good. In the evening the options expand, as do the prices (Chilean Seabass will cost you $36, Grouper $35 and nine jumbo shrimp $27). However, both the entrees and the sides are first rate. Keep your purse/wallet in your car! During my visit a waitress named Mallory was caught red handed by another customer stealing! The new owner obviously doesn't care about his customers or his other employees since he fired her but then hired her back 3 weeks later. If the employees don't rob you then you might get robbed walking to your car since the cart barn is located in the middle of the hood! But other than that the food was average and service was slow. By now, I feel it's safe to say that I've tried my fair share of "Atlanta's best" burgers, from fast food to gourmet. So when my friend told me about Cart Barn Grille's amazing burgers, I had to give them a try when I was in LaGrange. The first time my friend brought me here, it was a Saturday afternoon. There were zero cars in the lot, and we thought this was strange. We looked at the business hours posted by the door, and my heart sank when I saw that they didn't open at all on weekends. And I was really craving a good burger. =( Fast forward to the last time I was in LaGrange on a Friday afternoon. They only open for 2.5 hours for lunch Monday through Friday. Wow. We drove to the little old golf "cart barn," which had been converted into a restaurant, and strolled in around 12:30 pm. The parking lot was packed, and so was the restaurant. There was literally one table that was free, so we sat there initially. We didn't like the table because it was 1) near the entrance, 2) close to the restrooms, and 3) barely lit. However, we proceeded to look at the menu and ordered our food. Later, we moved to another table as a group left and also noticed they had some patio seating available. I already had my heart set on the "Barn Burger" cooked to medium temperature, and it took me about 10 seconds to decide I wanted to add cheddar cheese and bacon to it. Since I usually prefer to have a soda to wash down greasy food, I ordered a Diet Coke (they don't offer Coke Zero... boo). My friend also ordered the burger. No more than 10 minutes later, out came our burgers! * Barn Burger ($8) w/Cheddar Cheese (75 cents) & Bacon ($1) - The burgers are served with fries, coleslaw, lettuce, tomato, and a peperoncini as well as a packet of mayo (which I didn't use). I was impressed with the size (larger than average!), temperature, and texture of the burger as well as the generous portion of perfectly cooked bacon that topped it. However, the flavor didn't "wow" me as much as Bocado's or H&F's burgers. The seasoning was a lot more subtle. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the large burger and was extremely full when I was done. The fries were great and reminded me a bit of In-N-Out's delicious sticks of potato. I like to dip my fries in sauce, so I had asked our server if they had BBQ sauce. Since they did not, I asked if they had ranch. They did. Score! The fries were even better dipped in the fries. Normally not a fan of coleslaw, I actually had some of it and thought it was good because it wasn't too sweet and just the right amount of mayo in it. The peperoncini was a nice extra touch and was great with the burger as well. My greatest peeve about Cart Barn Grille was that soft drinks, which cost $1.75, are NOT refillable. At first, I didn't know this and thought it was strange that our server didn't automatically come to refill my Diet Coke when I was finishing it. And they have both the canned soft drinks as well as a fountain machine. Hmmm... My assumption is that it costs you the same for either a fountain drink or canned drink since you don't get free refills anyway. I guess it's a matter of personal preference. I was not happy that I didn't get a free refill. Overall, Cart Barn Grille gets 4 stars for their great burger and fries and super quick service. Honestly, I would have given another 1/2 star if they offered free refills. I needed more than just one cup of Diet Coke with my burger but wasn't willing to shell out another $1.75 for it, so I got a cup of ice water instead. I guess business so good that they don't need to open long hours or open on weekends, which is awesome for them. A diamond in the rough! We are so happy Yelp had reviews on this restaurant because it was amazing! We were driving from ATL to the Gulf Coast and were debating on a regular highway stop...then I found this option. The best! Now, they do not have much of a sign out front and it looks like a red abandoned golf shop. But then magic happens. We walked in to a fry smoke room filled with aromas of wonderful food. A woman from across the room yelled over to let us know we could sit any where. We sat by the open kitchen to see what they were making. Everything on the menu looked like perfection. The seafood looked fresh and was put together with care. We unfortunately only wanted a quick small bite before heading back on the road so we did not order their classic fresh seafood entrees. We chose a burger and a shrimp poboy. Both melted on our mouth and had homemade sauces. The fries were fresh and the free bread was hot and came with melt in your mouth honey butter. The staff was fun and they seemed to know all the locals. Beware of their spunky humor, it will keep you entertained and want you to come back soon! Give a shout out to the chef. The food was delicious and pricing was great! The maintenance of the place was severely neglected (grease on the walls, stuff like that), but I guess it added to the... "charm"? Overall, it was a unique venue and if I was travelling to the area again, I might go there a second time. However, I would remember to bring a drink, since they don't serve alcohol. read more

This is probably the most shocking experience ever! $50 for dinner for two, no salad fork or table knife and none available when I asked. No cup for the coffee, but that didn't really matter because I couldn't make the coffee go down. The crab cakes were disappointing, but my 5 fried shrimp were amazing.
