Pretty good overall. I tried with vegan steak and would get it again. - Teriyaki Protein Bowl: this one came with brown rice topped with teriyaki-glazed grilled chik'n, house-made mango salsa, avocado, house-pickled red onion, griddled broccoli, cucumber, edamame, green onions, and cilantro. I have loved veggie grill for many years now and my go to order was always the far east bowl (it's the best!!!). However, I hadn't been back for a long time so I decided to switch it up and get the beyond steak. First of all, the veggies and the chimichurri were all delicious but I really didn't enjoy the actual steak itself. It was really salty and had a strange taste which I was not expecting. The texture was on point though!! I also had a teriyaki chickn bowl which was good but there was so much sauce my rice and toppings were drowning. I will say, however, my shake was super yummy! I really loved it I added cookie dough, fudge, and sprinkles and it was the perfect treat. I also love how the small size is super tiny perfect for a snack! Veggie Grill is BACK at the Tustin Marketplace!!! Most of my fam are all veg girlies so we were so excited to stop in. The space is really nicely decorated with indoor and outdoor seating. You can grab a menu and sit while you decide what you want or they also have menus on the wall. When you're ready you can order at the counter or on a screen. Then they bring the food out to you once it's ready. I haven't had VG in a few years and even though I've always loved their food, it has definitely improved. I tried the chicken caesar wrap and roasted potatoes. So delicious and filling! I had it for two meals. My family also got the steak wet burrito (which I had a bite of and was so good) and slaw. Pretty shocked when I entered during work lunch. For a place that took a while to re-open (they were across the street prior) and seem to have take over a year to reopen with numerous delays, this new location which is the old rubios spot simply looks just repainted. Otherwise ot looks almost exactly the same as before. They had atleast 10 staff on shift when I arrived today but they were running around aimlessly and handing out incorrect orders to people. Long wait times to order and long waits for the food to be made. I ordered 3 small things and waited over 40 minutes. Quaility isn't as good as before and I do feel prices are increased it's now 9.99 for a small 4 piece chicken tender. This is a big skip unfortunately. Finally the grand opening happened! They used to be in the same plaza with the theater and then relocated over to this new plaza. Worth the wait! They have smoothies, salads, tacos, burgers, sandwiches, and plates galore. Order up front or online and then take a seat to wait while they prepare your meals and bring it over to you when it's ready. So far their beyond meat tacos, chicken tenders, berry smoothie, and burger were all tasty! The tacos were seasoned well and were my favorites so far. The good: 100% plant based so it's nice not needing to analyze ingredients. New upgraded ceramic plates and utensils. It's a huge improvement over the plastic bowls and plates they used to have. They've expanded the offering to include smoothies and faux meat plates The not so good: Very overpriced for quick dining service and for what you get (ingredients/pairing), small portions, inconvenient location (parking) Pro tip: Sign up for their loyalty program if you haven't already. Earn rewards and get periodic promos. The food was ok, not overly amazing for the prices they charge. The loaded burrito and buffalo blitz wrap came as pictured. There was no salsa for the burrito and even though I asked for salsa, the server pointed to the condiments section stating it was available over there. However, they only had Cholula available, not even Sriracha which they had prior to reopening. I finally settled and asked for buffalo sauce and ranch. The loaded burrito is definitely more value added as the buffalo blitz wrap consisted of only faux chicken, sauce, lettuce and wrap. We went to their grand opening event. It was hot and there were some missed opportunities. There was no monitoring of the line which allowed people to cut in unless someone spoke up. This was disappointing and unfair to those who arrived first and patiently waited. We alerted management to one guy in a red shirt, but there were at least 7 or 8 others because we were supposed to be part of the first 50. As for raffle tickets, they used a small glass jar for over 400 tickets so the winners were mostly from tickets at the top. They didn't really attempt to rebalance the odds even after the audience asked them to mix up the jar, maybe this was on purpose to keep the late comers engaged. It was nice of them to bring water and smoothie samples while we were in line, but the offering was inconsistent. They would quickly run out, but not come back right away and when they did, they would sometimes start at the beginning instead of where they left off. We've waited a long time for Veggie Grill to come back after all Irvine locations closed. Sadly Veggie Grill isn't what it used to be (less processed, more reasonably priced). read more

Today, my coworker and I ordered lunch online from the newly opened Veggie Grill by Next Level in Tustin. My coworker ordered the Citrus Glazed Tofu food bowl. She said it was fresh, delicious, and it did not upset her troubled stomach. Citrus Glazed Tofu bowl is crispy organic tofu tossed in a sweet citrus glaze, served over a bed of organic rice with grilled red and green peppers, sautéed onions, griddled broccoli, and caramelized pineapple and carrots. Topped with fresh green onions and tuxedo sesame seeds. I ordered the Tejano Taco and I picked the house-made ground walnut meat as my protein. You can choose Tex-Mex beefy crumbles or topped with queso (additional charge), shredded lettuce, pico de gallo, cilantro, and tangy pepper crema. You can add items for an extra charge like salsa, guacamole, and avocado. You can customize to your liking. Veggie Grill has all non-dairy items but you can check their allergen link on their website and contact them online or talk to them directly. i will forever be obsessed with veggie grill. when it closed down years ago for relocation, i obsessively checked for so long to see when it would be making its return. each delayed opening was such a disappointment but if that's what it took for it to make its comeback, i'm glad for the wait, because the food has not disappointed! since its return, i've tried: - the banana berry smoothie - crispy cauliflower - mac n cheese - fries (golden & sweetheart) - american chzburger - maverick burger - beyond classic chzburger - buffalo blitz wrap - the lucky leprechaun velvet cake and let me tell you...everything has only ever been 5 stars. even my boyfriend, who is not necessarily a strictly plant based eater, loves vg and will crave it every time he comes over. though i'm sad that it seems some of the original menu has dwindled (rip buffalo ranch wrap shareables), the updated menu has still had so many options that i can't complain. my ooooonly gripe is the lack of drink options. not a huge fan that there's not an ice machine you can get it from yourself (you need to ask for it, i later learned) and the drinks end up being kind of lukewarm. i think there used to be other drink varieties too, so i hope that eventually there will be more options again. otherwise, vg, stay iconic !! read more

OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR SO LONG. I used to love going to the Veggie Grill in Tustin and have been checking almost daily for the re-opening of this location! The restaurant recently opened at this new location at the Marketplace at the end of February and I was so excited to see it listed as one of the options for OC Restaurant Week. My boyfriend and I attempted to come for dinner on Friday night, but it was pretty busy, so we decided to come for lunch on a Saturday. We arrived and noticed that it was quite busy and I was glad to see so many patrons supporting the new opened restaurant and treating themselves to gourmet vegan food! My boyfriend and I took advantage of the OC Restaurant Week deal, and ordered the 3 Taco Plate, the Chicken Queso Burrito, the Tropical Tonic Smoothie, and a scoop of strawberry ice cream. All of this was approximately $37, which is a great deal! You order with the cashier, and they provide you with a number, and the food runner delivers the items directly to your table (including the smoothie or any other beverages ordered besides water and the self-service lemonade and tea station). Every employee there was working so hard to keep up with the demands of the long-line and I was impressed by their speed in running out the food to all of the tables and keeping up with the demands of the guests. The Chicken Queso Burrito was amazing and the 3 Taco Plate was good, but I wouldn't order it again. The chicken taco was a piece of crispy chicken with minimal toppings and not too much flavor. The steak taco was the delicious and the best taco in the 3 taco plate, and the cauliflower taco was our second favorite. The Tropical Tonic smoothie was refreshing on the 80 degree day, and finally, the strawberry ice cream scoop was a great portion and hit the spot. I wouldn't order the strawberry ice cream again, since they have so many other delicious sounding desserts, but we opted for the ice cream because it was a hot day. Also, keep in mind that the strawberry ice cream is coconut based, if you have an allergy or don't like coconut flavor! One of the staff members came to bus our table afterwards, and mentioned that he used to work at the old location in Tustin, and was one of the friendliest people I have encountered in a long-time. We are very happy that this restaurant has returned back to the Marketplace. It's a little different than the one we used to go to. Their menu has a lot more items than before. We tried the loaded burrito and the taco salad. The burrito was tasty but the taco salad wasn't what we expected. Lots of lettuce but little meat and veggies. We spoke to Jory who was helping out during the opening. He apologized and said he would contact us through the app. Still haven't heard anything. I'm sitting in your restaurant right now, halfway through a teriyaki bowl, actively talking myself out of getting more chipotle sauce because I don't want to pay another dollar for a dollop. That's what your sauce policy has done to the dining experience: it's made me ration my own enjoyment of food I already paid for. We've been regulars for years. We waited three years for this location to reopen after the move because we genuinely loved Veggie Grill. That patience is being repaid with nickel-and-diming on condiments. Today's low point: I asked the staff to make sure my teriyaki bowl wouldn't be dry -- and they tried to charge me extra for sauce on a teriyaki bowl. The dish whose entire identity is the sauce. You order a teriyaki bowl, you say "please make sure it has sauce," and the answer is "that'll be a dollar." A dollar for ketchup. A dollar for chipotle. A dollar to make the dish you ordered not arrive dry. At fast-casual prices that aren't cheap, this isn't generous portion control -- it's resentment dressed up as a policy. And I'm not the only one. I've heard the same complaint from other customers in line. The handful of dollars Veggie Grill is collecting on condiments will cost far more in lost return visits and lost word-of-mouth. I used to send friends here without hesitation. I can't anymore, and I'm genuinely sad about it. The food is still good. The team is still kind. But the sauce policy is actively ruining the experience for loyal customers -- and based on what I'm hearing, I'm not the last one it'll drive away. read more

The one star is for the service. The food is five stars. I've been here 3 times since it reopened and all three times I had to wait over 25 minutes for my food. First time I dined in, it was a week day in the afternoon before dinner time. There was no line when I got there so I don't understand why it took so long. The next 2 times I ordered ahead on their app for pick up. When you ordered on the app it gives you a time for pick up. I placed the order at 5:54pm and the app gave me a pick up time at 6:09pm. I didn't picked up my food until 6:34pm. That's 40 minutes after I placed an order and 25 minutes passed my pick up time. It wasn't a big order, I just had 1 bowl, 2 appetizers, & 1 drink. I used to go to Veggie Grill at the Market Place all the time and the service is always fast. Sadly they closed down when they started building the new apartments there. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had reopened on the other side of the Market Place a few months ago. Sadly I don't think I will be returning to this location because my time is very precious and I don't want to waste it by waiting for food. read more

Next Level Veggie Grill vs McDonald's. We went here on a lark to try vegetarian. We each had a Veggie Grill cheeseburger, fries, and the in-house fruit beverage. All vegetarian. $51 for the 2 meals. You would think you were saving on the calories, it's veggie, right? Wrong! Veggie Grill cheeseburger and large fries = 1070 calories. McDonald's 1/4 pounder with cheese + large fries 1018 calories. Cost: Veggie Grill Burger and fries=$25. McDonald's Quarter Pounder/Cheese and fries = $12. uhhhh.....yea...You pay twice as much for more calories on this supposed healthy veggie meal. It's back to McDonald's and not feeling guilty about it. I almost forgot, 25 minutes from the counter order to the table. I could say I almost passed out from starvation from the wait, but it was seeing the bill where I lost consciousness. The lemonade had a peculiar taste that I could not drink.
