I'm always put at ease coming here and truly grateful for the immediate care they provide for my dog. I can trust that she's in good hands every time. Yes, it can cost an arm and a leg--thank God for pet insurance--but I understand this is 24-hour emergency care, and that's never cheap. Most importantly, I don't feel pressured into upsells or unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciate. Every doctor I've seen has been very patient, attentive, and professional--and all the employees, vets, and techs are genuinely compassionate as well. I especially appreciated Dr. Alexander Nunez, who treated my dog last night and really stood out for his care and approach. I've never had a bad experience here. I'm genuinely grateful to live so close to a place I can rely on for my pet's emergencies. read more

Veterinary emergency group is not a full animal hospital. And their prices are higher because they are for profit so before you go there consider this- Is your animal stable? If so you would be better off to drive to a 24-hour full hospital like the emergency room at ordell animal hospital or The animal medical center. That way whatever your animal needs there are doctors who can be called in and 24-hour doctors on staff. For example if you need an ultrasound veg does not have anyone to call in. They are not equipped to give an MRI they are not equipped to give a CAT scan they are equipped to do X-rays and blood work but they drag their feet about giving me my blood work within the 48 hours that we were there when I was leaving with my dog they refused to give me my blood work and took 4 days to give me my blood work and x-rays they could have just sent me the data they did the blood work in house and they could have released the X-rays to me to show it to my regular vet. They did this because they wanted to write a report they delayed me in getting the care that I wanted to get during the prelude to a massive Thanksgiving holiday. What veg is good for is that they will immediately treat your animal!... They will begin treatment while they are admitting your animal. So if your animal is having difficulty breathing if you think they have an allergy if you think they ate something poisonous then I would go to the closest facility including VEG but if they're stable or you are the same distance from a full 24-hour hospital like the animal specialty center in Yonkers the animal medical center in Manhattan the or oradell animal hospital in New Jersey then that is where I would go . Be also prepared that they can be extremely insensitive. I was on the phone with a friend to get help paying because I had been caring for a sick family member for the last 3 years it was during COVID.... And I was on the phone with a friend who was helping me set up payment. She decided that the last minute that she was only going to pay half and so I had to call another friend to help with the other half here they actually put this in the report like that was noteworty.... Like it was awesome how that somebody would have an emergency in the middle of the night and rushed to the hospital knowing that they had family and friends who would help. Oh yeah and they charge me for two bottles of medicine two bottles of clavamox and still have not reimbursed me for the bottle that they didn't give me. Be prepared that you're going to pay more for that care. This is not unusual but a reason to try and find a true 24-hour hospital versus an emergency only facility.. read more

We brought our 9 yr old large mixed breed, Hank , into VEG because he was having problems urinating & couldnt wait until our vet opened in the AM. I was so impressed with everyone at the paramus office. Very compassionate & knowledgeable. Like any emergency vet, its expensive. But not like oradell AH. They were also very willing to work with me because their goal was my dog, not $ Its an open floor plan so you see all treatments as theyre happening. The staff & drs are truly amazing. We had to rush our cat Kukla late Saturday night to VEG ER as he was having urinary issues. We were not sure if he had a blockage or a UTI so I was in full panic mode. The team rushed in and checked him out immediately. They were able to straightaway reassure me it wasn't a blockage and looked to be an inflamed bladder. The vet proceeded to do X-ray and bloodwork. It did take some time and we were there for 2 hours. During that period, we witnessed the team's care and dedication to each and every pet that came through those doors. Decided to leave after waiting 3 hours for my German shepard to be triage by a nurse and seen by a doctor. No one showed concern to my baby or to me and my wife. The customer service was one of me and my wife's worse experience dealing with vets. We ended up leaving and got a refund for our time waisted. This was the first time I brought my dog to this facility, and it will definitely be the last. I had to take my dog to the emergency room because he was having severe diarrhea. Before going, I called to explain what was happening and asked if they needed a stool sample to help determine the cause. I was told that it wasn't necessary. I'm not a veterinarian, but it seems like common sense to run the appropriate tests to identify the cause before deciding on a treatment. During the visit, they recommended X-rays, blood work, and IV fluids. Trusting their professional judgment, I agreed to everything they recommended and ended up paying $1,705. What was most disappointing was that after spending that much money, the only treatment they sent my dog home with was probiotics. Five days later, my dog is still sick with the same symptoms. When I called back to let them know that the treatment had not worked, I was told I would have to pay an additional $100 just to get a course of antibiotics. My question is simple: if antibiotics were considered necessary, why weren't they prescribed during the initial visit? Why should pet owners have to pay even more after an expensive emergency visit when the original treatment failed? After reading other reviews, I realized that my experience is not unique. Unfortunately, I was left with the impression that this clinic is more focused on making money than on providing the best care for the animals entrusted to them. When you take your pet to an emergency hospital, you are scared, worried, and willing to do whatever it takes to help them. I trusted their recommendations and paid over $1,700 expecting my dog to receive the care he needed. Instead, I left with an enormous bill, a dog who is still sick, and a deep sense of disappointment. I cannot recommend this facility. Beyond thankful for this VEG location as this is my second time coming here and they were absolutely great. I had called my normal vet due to vomiting and lethargy and they said to come here right away. I was immediately taken back to an exam room and a vet tech came in within maybe 10 minutes to take my dog's necessary vitals. I will say it did take a long amount of time for the actual vet to come in which was a bit frustrating. We saw Dr Maresca and she was very thorough and sent an estimate and testing plan via text in which you can pay right away. We seemed to be waiting awhile after that for someone to come in and actually run the diagnostics on my dog. But the tech, Ben was an absolute rock star he did great with my Panda and her muzzle as she fear bites and was super patient and careful with her. He took the time to explain I could stand out side while they did her scans and hold her or help keep her calm as necessary. It did take a very very long time for the vet to come back in after all testing was done. But Dr Maresca was very friendly and helpful explaining Panda's pancreatitis diagnosis. We were here for about close to 4 hours but minus some of the extensive waiting in the exam room times I will always return as the service from the moment you walk in is exceptional from the front desk to the discharge care. read more

My Tofu ended up with a urinary obstruction and had to be admitted for couple of nights for fluids and urinary catheter. Everybody was so sweet and took amazing care of him. "I am absolutely appalled by the treatment I received at this veterinary emergency clinic. After following up on my dog's care, I was met with cold indifference from the on-call doctor. Despite my pet being in pain, the doctor dismissed me outright, refusing to offer any guidance or referral. This lack of compassion and professionalism is inexcusable--especially from a place that charges a premium and claims to love animals. To be clear, I have spent over $18,000 in less than a year between this ER and Blue Pearl for my pet. The least they can do is act like they care. On a positive note, when I visited in early May, Dr. Tippie was my dog's doctor, and she was, by far, the most truthful, compassionate, and skilled veterinarian I have met. Yeah, we brought a dog here once before and it was pretty reasonable but tonight a dog was breathing heavy and acting a little bit of lethargic so we decided to bring it up here and have her checked out and to a surprise they were out of their minds with fees. We were ready to have her x-rayed just to see if there was any internal issues and when they came back out and said while we text you the estimate I knew right away something was really not what I was expecting, and then when it came out and said over $2000 to do an x-ray and run a couple tests, I says oh my God I mean, I just have no use for these places cause they know you love your pet and it's just legalized thievery. I appreciate the doctor coming out after we refuse to pay $2000 and he gave my wife medication gabapentin and said she should take it every couple hours but I can't give him a good rating because over $2000 just completely insane. read more

We brought our 10 month old German Shepherd who was in her first heat and seemed to be suffering from a very uncomfortable UTI. Unfortunately, she was peeing (with blood) all over the waiting room about every 5 minutes and the staff was absolutely incredible and patient with the situation. They made sure we didn't feel bad about it and consistently helped us clean it up. The entire staff was incredibly kind and so supportive and helpful, to us as well as to our dog Nova. Dr. Nunez in particular was an incredibly calming, intelligent, and kind presence who made sure to check every last possible issue with our pup so we knew no stone was left unturned and she was getting the absolute best care possible. After our appointment and the right prescriptions and medicine, our pup is now completely back to normal and back to her crazy old self, and we have the entire VEG staff and Dr. Nunez to thank for that. You can really tell that the entire staff cares deeply for these animals, and for that I am extremely grateful. Thank you VEG for helping our pup and making the experience 10 times better than we ever could have hoped for! What an amazing experience we had here. Very caring and gentle staff saw to our pup who has been showing some discomfort. Dr Nunez was horrible he did not even take my dog in the back to look and clean her wound. He said don't wrap it just wash it with soap and let it heal is a superficial wound. And he said you can clean it at home or we can for 500 dollars. So I left took her home and cleaned it and the wound was wide open. I sent the video to another er hospital and they gave her stitches and wrapped it. I will never go back to VEG ER read more

I can't say enough about VEG! My dog was very lethargic and then seemed to have respiratory issues. It came on really fast and when I called my regular vet they were close and suggested an emergency vet asap. I drove like a madwoman to get my guy to VEG and I called on the way. When I pulled up they were waiting for me and my guy. After several tests etc it was determined he had an infection and needed antibiotics. The vet was great as she said if he didn't improve we would do more testing and be a bit more aggressive in his treatment. My guy got an IV infusion as he was also dehydrated. Are they expensive ? Yes...but it was worth every penny. I would do it again and again for my dog. read more

We visited VEG on Sunday 10/22. One of my cats had consumed a few inches of yo-yo string, and I was concerned about it causing harm to her intestines or creating an obstruction. I called in the morning and was immediately able to speak with Dr. Maresca, who reccomended bringing my cat in for X-rays. I got the sense she genuinely was concerned for my cat, and appreciated her taking time to speak with me on the phone. There was a bit of wait when we arrived, but in any emergency hospital it is a blessing to not be rushed to the front of the line! The lobby is comfortable and the staff was kind. Dr. Maresca was excellent. Kind, a calm presence, knowledgeable, and got to us as quickly as she could. She did an excellent job explaining the situation and possible outcomes. The nurse who actually performed the x-rays was also great. Highly recommend VEG Paramus. Vet care costs money, and emergency vet care is incredibly important and is worth paying for. ATTENTION LOVING PET PARENTS!!!! Unfortunately, On February 17, 2025 Dr. Maggie, France was covering at the Hoboken location. I rushed my dog to VEG in Hoboken, desperately seeking urgent care. He had a blood clot I didn't know what was going on, I trusted this hospital to do everything possible to help him. But instead, Dr. Maggie France failed him completely. Apart from us being terrified of what was happening to our baby, they demanded payment before any procedure, showing they cared more about money than his life. My dog had been coming to this emergency hospital for years, and in his final days, you guys turned your back on him. The day he needed you most, you guys did NOTHING. Dr. Maggie France told me he was anemic, I was devastated, but even more confused. It was moderate anemia, yet all she kept mentioning was euthanasia. I didn't understand why she was so quick to give up on him when there were still options to help. She didn't even order an ultrasound, apply any fluids, run necessary tests, and take the time to truly figure out what was wrong. Instead, she guessed "I guess he has an infection." "I guess it's something more than that, but I don't know." If you didn't know, if you weren't capable of diagnosing my dog, you should have told me to take him somewhere else, somewhere with real professionals who actually care about the career THEY CHOSE. Someone educated enough to search for answers, to investigate, to actually try to save a life. Instead, she sent him home with antibiotics for an infection she wasn't even sure he had, without considering if they could do more harm than good. It was moderate anemia, yet all she kept mentioning was euthanasia. I didn't understand why this word was even on the table without knowing what was going on with my dog. I kept asking her, through my panic attack, "What can be done to save him?" Her response was, "Nothing, it all depends on him being on the medication." She also mentioned how this was going to be costly. Why bring up money when you didn't even know what was wrong with my dog? Why mention the cost without any answers or a plan? I would've paid anything to save my baby it wasn't about the money. IT WAS ABOUT SAVING HIM, which you didn't seem to care to try. This was my baby, my son, not just a dog. He was the heart of our family, the main center of attention, and he was treated like he didn't matter. He had a family that loved him, a family that he left destroyed. He was just discharged, with no compassion, no real care. While I was there, another emergency case came in, a dog that unfortunately, didn't make it under her care. Watching that happen was heartbreaking, but what struck me most was how Dr. Maggie France reacted. She showed no emotion, no urgency, just went back to her seat and then walked into my room as if nothing had happened. It was clear to me then that she's used to this. She's used to seeing animals die, which is why she didn't seem to care enough to do more for them. I didn't bring my dog here to be given up on. I brought him here to be helped. If Dr. Maggie France had done what was necessary on February 17th, he would have been prepared for surgery and the treatment he deserved. Instead, she neglected him with no proper procedures, and I was sent home with nothing but confusion and heartbreak. He passed away two days later. VEG was supposed to be a place of help, a place he knew. When his life depended on it, you failed him, knowing you could've done something to save his life. Dr. Maggie France does not have the heart for this profession. If you love your pet, take them somewhere else, somewhere that will actually fight for their life. Unlike me, who was left helpless, with my hands tied, unable to do anything about the cruelty that happened to my baby. You could have HELPED SAVE HIM, but you were USELESS, only interested in taking my MONEY. I hope your company knows the kind of doctors you guys are hiring. read more

Yesterday I took my dog cause she was not drinking or eating I thought because she was throwing up from eating a piece of the wee wee pad that she might be dehydrated. Right away they wanted to X-ray and do all kinds of test cause she might have a blockage. I told them she went number 2 with no problem. While we were there she ate 2 cookies and drinking water. When they gave me the plan they were going to do all kinds of test for 1400.00. I said no just wanted to get some fluids in her. So I told my vet that they stuck a needle under her harness and another girl was squeezing the fluid. She said it was impossible to put in a needle under the harness. When I was there I thought it was weird how the girl pulled out the needle from the harness. She said it should feel wet but it was dry. That cost me 142.00. I think VEG started off really catering to sick pets but they are only concerned with making more money. I was very disappointed in their behavior and I would recommend not using these scammers! read more

If you're looking to spend thousands of dollars for false information this is the place to go. On Saturday 2/24/24 I brought my dog Lily who was limping very bad and having trouble getting up. Lily had surgery on her ACL elsewhere back in November of 2023 on the same leg that she was now fully non-weight bearing. After all their tests and X-rays I was told by the vet that Lily had now re-torn her ACL because the surgery that she got was never going to work for a dog her size and that she needed a different surgery. I was told she should have never gotten the surgery that she got because it is only successful for small dogs. Hearing this news I was absolutely devastated, extremely frustrated and felt horrible for my poor dog. At this point I'm freaking out. Fast forward to yesterday 2/29/24 I get a phone call from a different doctor there basically telling me that everything i was told by the vet I saw on Saturday was incorrect. Amazing place. Unfortunately my cat had a stroke, but from the moment I walked in on a holiday night, I knew I picked the right place. They immediately took my cat in to triage and let me stay with him every step of the way. They ran all the tests and kept him comfortable. They were very gentle with him and truly cared for him. They prioritized the patient over the payment. Other nearby vets in the area make you wait and fill out forms before they will even see your animal. I will definitely be taking my future pets here for regular care. Every single person there was so kind, even in how they cared for the other animals. The costs were very reasonable as well.
