Yes, it can cost an arm and a leg--thank God for pet insurance--but I understand this is 24-hour emergency care, and that's never cheap. Most importantly, I don't feel pressured into upsells or unnecessary treatments, which I really appreciate. Every doctor I've seen has been very patient, attentive, and professional--and all the employees, vets, and techs are genuinely compassionate as well. I especially appreciated Dr. Alexander Nunez, who treated my dog last night and really stood out for his care and approach. I've never had a bad experience here. I'm genuinely grateful to live so close to a place I can rely on for my pet's emergencies.

Veterinary emergency group is not a full animal hospital. And their prices are higher because they…read moreare for profit so before you go there consider this- Is your animal stable? If so you would be better off to drive to a 24-hour full hospital like the emergency room at ordell animal hospital or The animal medical center. That way whatever your animal needs there are doctors who can be called in and 24-hour doctors on staff. For example if you need an ultrasound veg does not have anyone to call in. They are not equipped to give an MRI they are not equipped to give a CAT scan they are equipped to do X-rays and blood work but they drag their feet about giving me my blood work within the 48 hours that we were there when I was leaving with my dog they refused to give me my blood work and took 4 days to give me my blood work and x-rays they could have just sent me the data they did the blood work in house and they could have released the X-rays to me to show it to my regular vet. They did this because they wanted to write a report they delayed me in getting the care that I wanted to get during the prelude to a massive Thanksgiving holiday. What veg is good for is that they will immediately treat your animal!... They will begin treatment while they are admitting your animal. So if your animal is having difficulty breathing if you think they have an allergy if you think they ate something poisonous then I would go to the closest facility including VEG but if they're stable or you are the same distance from a full 24-hour hospital like the animal specialty center in Yonkers the animal medical center in Manhattan the or oradell animal hospital in New Jersey then that is where I would go . Be also prepared that they can be extremely insensitive. I was on the phone with a friend to get help paying because I had been caring for a sick family member for the last 3 years it was during COVID.... And I was on the phone with a friend who was helping me set up payment. She decided that the last minute that she was only going to pay half and so I had to call another friend to help with the other half here they actually put this in the report like that was noteworty.... Like it was awesome how that somebody would have an emergency in the middle of the night and rushed to the hospital knowing that they had family and friends who would help. Oh yeah and they charge me for two bottles of medicine two bottles of clavamox and still have not reimbursed me for the bottle that they didn't give me. Be prepared that you're going to pay more for that care. This is not unusual but a reason to try and find a true 24-hour hospital versus an emergency only facility..

Writing this review again since the one I posted many years ago has been deleted, and honestly,…read morethis story still pains me. I have a Shih-Tzu-Bichon mix dog named Misiu, and he was approximately 2 years old when I took him to this vet hospital in early November of 2018. My dog has been abused by a groomer previously regarding another service provider, which led to him being extremely anxious and aggressive when it came to any type of grooming. We came here to get an opinion on sedating him because we were told that was the only option (don't worry, we have found a trustworthy groomer now that does an amazing job at grooming my anxious dog now, THANK GOD). Anyways, this "hospital," if I can even say those words, agreed and confirmed that sedating him and grooming him themselves was the BEST OPTION. So we took that option and agreed to sedate him and groom him, which wasn't cheap; it was a couple of hundred dollars, but my family and I were willing to do it for the sake of my dog being groomed without being stressed. The time came when it happened; they told me he had to be put on stronger sedation meds because apparently my 15 lb dog's heart is way too strong and needed stronger meds, that's understandable, and we had no problem with that and even paid extra if I'm not mistaken. It came time to pick him up, and he was groomed from the top of his head to his tail. He was noticeably a little red, but I thought it was normal with the amount of grooming they had to do. As soon as we brought him home, we noticed a weird patch near the side of his head and his ear. (I will attach pictures) I once again thought maybe it's an allergic reaction and to not think anything about it until my dog's literal skin came the fuck off. I REPEAT HIS SKIN CAME OFF. They literally handed me my dog with his skin detached and decided to just plaster the skin back on to him like it was a literal band-aid. Mind you, I was 14-years old at the time, and my mother barely speaks English, so I was the spokesperson, and trust me, I wish I could've defended my dog even more, but I was honestly just a kid at this point, and it was very traumatic to see my literal dog's skin come off. Trust me, if I were my age now in 2018, this would easily have been a lawsuit, because I do not play about my literal dog, and this place can give two shits about your dog if they HAVE THE ABILITY TO BUTCHER YOUR DOG WHILE HE'S ASLEEP AND DON'T TELL YOU ANYTHING. Luckily, my dog is okay and will never go to that hell-hole of a place called a "veterinary hospital"; if anything, it should be called a butcher shop. I'm going to keep writing reviews and tell this story until it reaches the right people who ACTUALLY LOVE AND CARE ABOUT THEIR PETS, TO NOT EVER GO HERE FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR PRECIOUS ANIMALS. I never got a response back about this problem or even a IM SORRY. This is a faulty establishment, and whoever groomed my dog should be disgusted with themselves. It's a terrible environment for my dog, and I'll never in a million years step foot in this place. PROTECT YOUR ANIMALS, DON'T GO HERE...

My fur baby, Zuri, has been seeing Dr. May for a little over a year and half now. I'm thoroughly…read morepleased with her elite care of my baby. Little history: Zuri is an IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia ) survivor/rockstar warrior. She started seeing Dr. May approx. 3 weeks after a week long stay at the hospital, where she had 6 blood transfusions. The hospital did a phenomenal job, but when Zuri was released, her red blood cells count was still gravely low. Her case was very aggressive. Zuri was on a few medications to help her, but I knew that Zuri would need someone highly skilled. So, I did some research about internal medicine vets in NJ and found Dr May. Best decision ever! Dr. May meticulously monitored Zuri's health over several long months, always answering/addressing my many questions/ concerns, finally weaning Zuri off of her IMHA meds entirely. By the time, Zuri was off of her meds with great values, I was ready to cease the monthly visits because Zuri was doing great, and I was 100pct comfortable with Dr. May's plan. She got Zuri that far! It was a beyond scary time for me, and Zuri had been through a lot. But, Dr. May and everyone from the assistants to the front desk at Animal Care of Oradell made the overwhelming experience better. Everyone always answered my MANY questions!! It's even the little things like being engaged by Sherry at the front desk, who is always very friendly, helpful, and responsive. It doesn't escape me that she would engage me to maybe make me smile or laugh...to just relax a bit, especially earlier on when I was a nervous wreck. Fast forward to this year, Zuri was doing so well that she really just needed to get an annual done. And, it was during this visit, Dr. May noticed that Zuri's kidney function was off. She had Zuri undergo a few studies, and it was determined that Zuri has kidney filtration (protein losing nephropathy) as well as high blood pressure issues, but it was caught very early. And, since being put on a couple medications, Zuri's levels are looking really good. Btw, during this time, Zuri never displayed any signs that she was ill. Again, this is a testament to Dr. May's diligence and care. I've written enough, but since I never got around to writing one last year, I figured a lengthy review is appropriate. :-) I wholeheartedly recommended Animal Care of Oradell.
