In the past a female vet always took cate of me and was fantastic. Over covid I got a new puppy and took him here for his shots. Upon my first visit they made me sit in my car as they took him in, which was unfortunate I wanted to be there with him but ok it's covid fine. Then the guy lectured me for being a couple weeks past the suggested time of getting his shots. Ok I get it but literally don't try to make me feel like a bad pet owner because truly I am not. Then he starts explaining all the things he needs one he said flea drops, I informed him I already do them. So he says no problem we don't do that then goes back inside to give him the shots brings him back and says they will email me the receipt. Upon looking over the receipt I noticed they charged me for the flea drops anyways. I called concerned that they actually gave them to him and they claimed no it was an over site and they would credit my account. Not return the money. His next round of shots was a month later. I've ALWAYS gotten reminders for appts. I got nothing until I realized it's been more then a month so I called and remade an appt. So I'm here today I arrive 5 minutes before my scheduled appt and another cat pulled in behind me. I hear the assistant tell that car they are 30 minutes early, hen they go back inside and 10 minutes later take their dog in. I waited 30 mins past my appt time for them to take my baby. So he gets his shots and they give him back to me and are explained the charges. THEY GAVE HIM FLEA DROPS WITHOUT ASKING AND I JUST GAVE THEM TO HIM LAST WEEK. Also keep in mind this is a 3 pound puppy so too much can 100% make him sick. So now they are "washing" it off him as I am in my car waiting now over an hour. I'm very disappointed in my experience with this vet and will be trying to find a better one. I don't know where the female vet that used to take care of my boys is but I definitely miss her (maybe she doesn't work weekends?) I understand everything is different with covid but they are truly dropping the ball here:

Brought her in with a quarter size mark by her neck, 1 of them no bigger than a quarter. He rushed to say it was ringworm. Despite my telling him my kids di not have ringworm, my other 2 dogs and 2 cats do not have ringworm and she is an indoor cat. But, he pushed ringworm & It wasnt... He didn't cone her, didn't clip her nails, provided NO PREVENTATIVEA CARE... sent me home with drops for ringworm. They did nothing! Fast forward had to take her to VEG er they are great because she had clawed up 1/2 her neck... they said it didn't look like ringworm. It looked like it was a wound or a scratch when it 1st started. Anywho, had another vet visit and she's gotten a bit better... but, still bad, ONLY because of HOW BAD it got due to Dr.Ventura nonchanlant, pushy misdiagnosis and lack of proper preventive care for my kitten. Dumont animal hospital has good vets. Just, per my experience with Dr.Ventura and how much it has $$$ cost me, how much its going to still cost me because of how bad his misdiagnosis was.. I don't advise anyone using DR.VENTURA. He was 100% negligent in my kittens care. I have even considered putting her down because of how bad it has gotten, but she's only a little over a year old so im trying. She's been highly traumatized by this experience and wouldn't have been had he just conned her, clipped her nails and gave sometime for a maybe the size quarter patch to heal... with a shot of antibiotics to make sure and treat possible infection.

Little history: Zuri is an IMHA (Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia ) survivor/rockstar warrior. She started seeing Dr. May approx. 3 weeks after a week long stay at the hospital, where she had 6 blood transfusions. The hospital did a phenomenal job, but when Zuri was released, her red blood cells count was still gravely low. Her case was very aggressive. Zuri was on a few medications to help her, but I knew that Zuri would need someone highly skilled. So, I did some research about internal medicine vets in NJ and found Dr May. Best decision ever! Dr. May meticulously monitored Zuri's health over several long months, always answering/addressing my many questions/ concerns, finally weaning Zuri off of her IMHA meds entirely. By the time, Zuri was off of her meds with great values, I was ready to cease the monthly visits because Zuri was doing great, and I was 100pct comfortable with Dr. May's plan. She got Zuri that far! It was a beyond scary time for me, and Zuri had been through a lot. But, Dr. May and everyone from the assistants to the front desk at Animal Care of Oradell made the overwhelming experience better. Everyone always answered my MANY questions!! It's even the little things like being engaged by Sherry at the front desk, who is always very friendly, helpful, and responsive. It doesn't escape me that she would engage me to maybe make me smile or laugh...to just relax a bit, especially earlier on when I was a nervous wreck. Fast forward to this year, Zuri was doing so well that she really just needed to get an annual done. And, it was during this visit, Dr. May noticed that Zuri's kidney function was off. She had Zuri undergo a few studies, and it was determined that Zuri has kidney filtration (protein losing nephropathy) as well as high blood pressure issues, but it was caught very early. And, since being put on a couple medications, Zuri's levels are looking really good. Btw, during this time, Zuri never displayed any signs that she was ill. Again, this is a testament to Dr. May's diligence and care. I've written enough, but since I never got around to writing one last year, I figured a lengthy review is appropriate. :-) I wholeheartedly recommended Animal Care of Oradell.

However, since his absence, the place has gone down hill and the staff ruder and more inflexible than ever. My 11 yr old black lab retriever was extremely sick and we weren't sure she'd make it through the night. Called Dumont in the morning, and they had no interest in trying to accommodate despite years as a customer, even as an emergency. Called VCA Closter Animal Hospital as a back up and they were INCREDIBLE. Polite, friendly, concerned staff. Didn't mind reaching out to Dumont for records. Saw us within 2 hours. Dr Michael Maida is an astonishingly good vet, knowledgeable caring and not pushy. Gave us our options and his recommendation to do less rather than more. Thankfully all turned out great and the bill was not terrible for an emergency visit. For some reason I had decided not to use them years ago and wish I'd thought it through. They're local, affordable, caring, funny, great and I'll never go anywhere else. We thank you for great service, great text follow up and beautiful client service. Our family dog is on the mend. Basically, they sold us an INCREDIBLY sick dog that they were giving the wrong antibiotic to (per the vet's comments when I showed her what they sent us home with, which was in a bottle marked with a permanent marker, not a prescription bottle). If we hadn't of taken her when we did, she would have died. We inevitably gave our sweet golden to a friend, when we could no longer afford her exorbitant vet bills, because she is a vet and can treat her, and she has since become their best friend. Please please PLEASE head this warning and do your research. These are puppy mill puppies, that they sell for thousands of dollars. Be very careful with this place. My friend took her dog there a few months ago because another vet…read moresent her there because the dog had thrown up a rubber glove she had swallowed and was lethargic and not eating or drinking.so my friend took their dog to Yonker Animal Hospital as recommended and It was determined she had pancreatitis and diabetes. She had to stay there for two days for IV fluids, tubes in her nose and tests which totaled $8K. The Vets had are in serious condition and said her only chance was her staying there for days for treatment. When the owners of the dog informed the vet there that they couldn't afford to leave her there any longer, they recommended putting her down. They even told them that the dog was close to 10 years old when the owner knew for a fact she was only 6 years old. My friend had documents from when she was a puppy in 2020. The vets also wanted us to take here to a specialist claiming she might have cancer in her nose because she was breathing heavily. This was all too much, so my friends went there that evening ready ,but devastated, to put her to sleep. When they arrived, the owners noticed that their dog seemed a bit tired, but not on death's door as the vet had indicated. They decided to take her home against the vet's recommendations. They recommended leaving her there for more testing or putting her down. The owner nevertheless decided to take her home and see how she does for a couple of days. However, their dog needed Insulin which is very difficult to obtain quickly. The vet there gave her enough insulin for a couple of days when they checked her out, but the quickest we could get the additional veils needed was about a week. what they gave us would not last until then. They refused to sell us more. We were all terrified the dog would go into diabetic shock as a result. I had to get on the-phone and call every vet I knew to see if they had some of the needed insulin in stock and none did. The dog's owners placed an order with Chewy.com, immediately but it was a weekend so it would be several days before it would arrive and we only had enough insulin for another two days. When I called Yonkers Animal Hospital and told them we were not having success obtaining the insulin quickly from anywhere else, they continued to refuse to sell us enough to hold the dog over. To repeat, this is after spending over $8,000 in two days there! Desperate, they rationed the insulin giving her half the dose. I once again called Yonkers Animal Hospital and spoke to several nurses and couple of vets as shifts changed and, AGAIN, even though they had the needed Insulin in stock, they REFUSED to sell to us to keep the dog alive insisting that they couldn't. It may not be the case, but It sure as hell felt like they were punishing the owners for not leaving the dog there for them to milk us for thousands of dollars more. Finally, as the last of the insulin was about to run out, I got another vet at Yonkers Animal Hospital on the phone, I wish I remembered her name, and after begging her, she agreed to sell us enough for a few more days until the"Chewy" order arrived. To make a long story short, the dog, who was MINUTES away from being put down at the recommendation of this Animal Hospital is thriving. She gets regular insulin injections and is eating, drinking and even PLAYING normally. She looks GREAT! a couple of days after this ordeal, The owner took her to a vet I recommended who ran tests and saw NOTHING life threatening. Just needed the insulin and some antibiotics fora nasal infection. This may not be the norm for this hospital, but I thought it important to tell this story so that pet owners that read this are cautious when taking their pets there. It was an incredibly stressful and almost DEADLY & DEVASTATING experience.
