These people belong in JAIL. I posted a picture here of our certificate of unfitness from the vet, but it won't let me attach it to this post specifically. Basically, they sold us an INCREDIBLY sick dog that they were giving the wrong antibiotic to (per the vet's comments when I showed her what they sent us home with, which was in a bottle marked with a permanent marker, not a prescription bottle). If we hadn't of taken her when we did, she would have died. We inevitably gave our sweet golden to a friend, when we could no longer afford her exorbitant vet bills, because she is a vet and can treat her, and she has since become their best friend. Please please PLEASE head this warning and do your research. These are puppy mill puppies, that they sell for thousands of dollars. (Rogue was 1600) I will be pursuing legal action against the business and reporting them. Fortunately, I am a publicist, so I have access to the media and will use my job for good to get this awful, inhumane place shut down for good. read more

I'm so surprised to read nothing but negative reviews on Just Pups, being that I had a positive experience here. I purchased a female Maltese, whom I fell in love with the first time I saw her. She was very playful and friendly with humans as well as other dogs and so smart, and easily potty trained. I have had no problems with kennel cough or any other illness, and everything is going well. Hope my positive experience helps! read more

This pet store doesn't even deserve a single star. I bought my puppy in December from their Valhalla store and it was a complete nightmare. The date I was giving to pick up my puppy got postponed 3 times. The excuse they gave me was that the vet didn't sign the paper work. The day finally came when I could pick up my puppy and was giving all the paper work. First of all the paper work was not explained properly and long story short my puppy had kennel cough. I took him to my own vet and because I didn't trust going to their recommended vet due to the delay of giving me the puppy. The story gets worse...on CHRISTMAS day I had to rush my puppy to the hospital because he was having trouble breathing. He has PNEUMONIA!!!!!!!!!! The puppy had to stay overnight and the bill came out to over $3,000. The very next day I went to the pet store and they made copies of the bill and said we will contact you back. They took forever so I made multiple calls and they always gave me the same sorry excuse that they had to wait for the main office to contact them. At one point after waiting almost 2 months for them to call back I threatened them to get a lawyer involved and they explained to me that they lost my paper work!!! I was furious. Next week I got a big envelope in the mail basically telling me they were not going to pay any of the medical bills because I didn't take my puppy to one of their suggested vets. I wanted to call and curse them out but that wouldn't solve anything. I've already spend so much money on my poor puppy and love him dearly but I had to share my horrific experience with this pet store. DON"T BUY FROM THIS STORE!!!!! read more

Not okay. I got my first Cavalier from Just Pups in 2011. While she is an amazing dog, the way this experience went was anything but acceptable. For starters, I am an experience dog owner, but never again will I get a dog from there or any other pet store. You simply don't know what you are getting and there are so many other dogs that need good homes. My dog was the smallest in the litter - she was only 3.5 pounds and should have been closer to 7. After reading about the other dogs being sold younger than they said - maybe that is what happened. Regardless, after we picked out our puppy, she was "quarantined" with kennel cough and was being seen by a vet before being allowed to come home with us. Nonesense! The treatment was completely ineffective and eventually we convinced them to let us take her home to our (then dog-free) home so she wouldn't be re-infected. Her cough last months. I had to steam her in the shower to help open her airways, spend a ton on medication (they would only pay for the medication they would provide) and have her seen by the vet every 10 days. My dog is strong and wonderful now, but I learned a lot from this experience: If you want a specific breed, go to a breeder. If you don't, go to a rescue. And if you are going to go to a pet shop regardless of that advice, skip this one. read more

MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. MOST HORRIBLE SERVICE AND BIGGEST LIARS IN TOWN. I bought my Puppy in June thinking she was healthy and ended up on a dog that was carrying over 3 different kind of lung disease: From Kennel COugh to Bortadella. The place told me to go to their Vet which I did in order to get medical bills covered. After the visit she prescribed me a medicine that did not only make my dog sicker but was extemely dangerous to the Human handle, that's when another vet of my choice told me to stop consulting the one recommended by Just Pups. I have more than one veterinary ready to testify on how the care choices on my puppy by the Puppy Store and the Just Pups Vet jaeperdized my puppy's health. I had to go see 3 different vets and spent over 2700$ in medical spending. The store manager Megan told me she would help me, told me she would of course pay me back considering the situation. 5 Months later i have not been reimbursed nor as anyone apologized. Worse experience. Thank god this puppy is the most precious in the world, nothing thanks to this horrible store. read more

We purchased our pup from Just Pups in East Hanover, NJ (the day after Christmas). The same day we picked the dog up we brought him to our veteniarian. The dog had flees as well as Kennel Cough. We treated the dog with the appropriate medication. You would think they would take better care of the dogs with the money we are spending to purchase there. Our vet provided us with a certificate saying that the puppy we purchased was not fit for sale. Basically, there is a Lemon Law that protects the consumer. Similar to the car Lemon Law where you can demand that your vet bills are covered IF you report it to the store with 14 business days (not sure that is the exact amount of days) from purchase of the pet. Which we did. We also contactact the board of health to let them know the condition of our puppy who had just been purchased. We love our puppy and would not bring him back under the Lemon Law to get a full refund but the pet store is liable for all medical expenses incurred from buying a sick and flee infested puppy. The people in the store do seem to care about the animals and I believe it is more about the people who own the store(s) and their greed for profit instead of taking care of the dogs appropriately. I would recommend that anyone who is thinkng about purchasing a dog at one of these store that you must do your research and make sure the puppy is healthy. They will tell you that you have to bring the puppy to one of their vets but this is completely inaccurate if you take the pup to your vet of your choice within 14 days of purchase (under the Lemon Law). The store said a vet sees all the dogs at the store, however, I really question if this is true because why would they have not treated the flees or the Kennel Cough? Shame on you Just Pups Owner(s). read more

Don't buy pups from any of their locations. Pups are sick, skinny and cramped in small cages. They look very unhappy. I watched some pups having anxiety and paseing back and forth - panicking. To try to cover up dogs cry for help the staff puts music on very loud. Very sad, the pups don't even have a comfortable bed to lay down in. They sleep on metal racks that are contaminated with dog waste. I hope these stores get shut down. read more

this guy NEEDS to be shot down!!!! Every single puppy he has has -one- kennel cough and two- parasites. All the puppies are way to young to be away from its mom. I have one puppy that has both and she gave it to my other 2 dogs. Poor little puppies are kept in crates with out any blankets to cuddle, but stand in the wire bottoms. It's a sad, sad day for the family of Juana DeLos Guarez. I didn't even leave the store of Just Pups when my dog collapsed on the floor and went into cardiac arrest. I'd usually make a cute poem or song in remembrence of the poor lad, but I didn't even get to name the bitch. (Excuse my language, but it was a female dog). The only positive thing I could take away from my experience here was the kind employee, Kate G who helped me shovel my puppy into a shoebox so I could give it a propper burial. XOXO -P read more

We bought a puppy from the Emerson store 12/2013. When we brought him home he had Giardia and Kennel cough. He was nursed back to health but it took several rounds of meds. A Vet we paid for said he was from a puppy mill , the store owner said he was't. Today we went back again and there was a yorkie poodle mix in a cage getting roughed up by another yorkie. WHEN I HELD HER SHE WAS LIGHT AS A FEATHER. I am sure she wasn't even the 2 pounds the store employee claimed she was. I also think she was a lot younger than 2 and one half months. They also claim it is fine to take the pups from their mother at 7 weeks. This store is awful, The stench is beyond tolerable. I believe there are sick dogs in the back and that these pups and all the pups are miserable. I intend to follow through and report this establishment. read more

I think it's unbelievable that this store has bad reviews. I go there almost every week to debate whether I want to purchase a puppy. I have played with generally some, if not most, of the puppies and I always have a great experience. It might seem a bit annoying to come every week to just play and not buy but the staff is very sweet and easy-going so I appreciate them letting me explore. The store itself is very clean, I mean it just smells clean, so I know when the day comes to buy a puppy I know they will be healthy. It's a shame that the owner is being slammed but he has my business so keep on. Looking forward to playing with more puppies. read more

Don't purchase from here owner Vincent Losacco absolute scum he swore just pups doesn't buy puppies from puppy mills. However I purchased 2 puppies from here both with birth defect. When I called and ask For at least a partial reimbursement I was denied and told they saved me money by selling me a puppy with cryptochidism (undescending testicles) and having him fixed and NOT telling me why. The second pup has a luxating patella also a birth defect when I researched the breeder. I found Ann miller owner of miller kennels usda customer ID 14639 (research the reports on USDA website) to have several violations. The owner tried to tell me it's not the same person when I have the usda report In front of me with the same number address company name as the paper work they provided. Now I have 2 puppy's that may not possibly live a healthy life do your research. Don't support puppy mills!!! I wish I would've known better. read more

We bought a shi poo pup from this location upon picking the puppy up (Christmas gift for our children) we were told he was sick sure we took him anyway because we were told he is almost better. We took the puppy to our vet not theirs and said we rescued him and that he should never have been sold. Needless to say he has been to our vet 5 times now severe kennel cough, parasites in his feces and has been vomiting. Our children are heartbroken as well as us as I write this he is now at the vet yet again. We have made attempts to contact this place and have not been contacted back told the management wasn't in.
