Dr Susan Rothstein and the entire staff were kind and helpful. My dog had vomited throughout the night and was panting for hours. I brought her in around 5 AM; Dr Rothstein saw us a few minutes later and worked up a treatment plan. This includes lab work, imaging and medication. Wow how have I not written a review about VEG? So much to say about this wonderful place. Obviously we all don't want to bring our pets to any kind of emergency room but if you have to - bring them here. I've unfortunately had to bring my dog here multiple times but I'm SO happy to have VEG close by and literally open 24/7. My dog is 7 pounds of trouble and love. He has very uncommon conditions and is on a ton of medication. He was first diagnosed at VEG and they've thoroughly taken care of him. From the front desk staff to the vet techs to the doctors (who sit on the floor with your pet and tell you what's wrong) you can't beat the love and care they provide. I know they've renovated but you can literally walk in and see what's happening with your pet. It's never a secret, you're basically allowed in everywhere with them. They comfort you like family, keep you updated and are all so attentive and caring while they do it. I've recommended VEG to so many friends and clients. Unfortunately I'm sure I'll have to bring my dog in again at some point in his life but I'm happy to know they're here for me and my pup. read more

This was an absolute waste of time and an incredibly upsetting experience. I am over $1,500 down with no answers and my cat is still sick. The x-rays gave no real indication of what was wrong, and only afterward was an ultrasound mentioned. If that was always going to be the next step, it should have been clearly explained from the start instead of after charging thousands of dollars. I was also advised to keep my cat overnight, which felt like another way to inflate the bill rather than a true medical necessity. When I was informed that the ultrasound would push the total cost beyond $5,000, I had no choice but to walk away and seek care elsewhere. This experience felt predatory, not supportive. It gave corruption and profit over patient, just like what people complain about in regular hospitals. I trusted this facility with my pet during a very emotional time and left feeling taken advantage of. Never again. I just left at 1:39am and I wrote this review immediately! read more

I brought my 15+ Jack Russell in on a Monday night with serious vomiting and dehydration. I was panicked because she had never been this sick before. She was immediately taken to triage to be checked. The doctors and nurses were kind and calm (with both Lexi and with me) and kept me updated. During our time there Monday night I saw the compassion they showed to the other humans with their animals and the they showed the upmost respect and sensitivity to everyone. When they recommended keeping her overnight I was scared but knew it was the best place for her. They allowed me to bring her bed and lambchop (she's a very sassy, spoiled old broad) and immediately she was the center of attention. I was updated throughout the day of her progress and when I went back to bring her home, the vet sat down with me, explained everything and gave me her medication with directions as well as a suggestion to follow up on in a week with our vet. She was treated like a princess (carried around in a sling and given lots of attention and love) and I could tell the her anxiety was almost non existent when i showed up to get her. She was loved and cared for and safe and that what mattered most to me and my little girl. I can not say enough kind things and thank you all enough for helping my girl (and me) through very scary night. I had to bring my 9-year old cat, Kiba, to VEG in the late evening of New Years Day, after he had gotten badly sick twice and was quickly becoming lethargic. They did X-Rays when an ultrasound showed signs of something stuck inside him, and those showed multiple foreign bodies in his small intestine. He was admitted for surgery by Dr. Lynch after I spent a tense 30 minutes getting a CareCredit account set up and going over the estimated budget it would take to save him. He spent two full days there, and had a tense follow-up 24 hours after I brought him home. He hadn't eaten anything at home, and he was looking very much like he'd have to be euthanized. But he rallied when we got there, and after getting a couple more injections that finally kick-started his appetite again along with reducing the inflammation in his innards, we brought him home again and finally saw him turn around. He's 10 days post-surgery today, and has fully healed and is back to his old, cuddly, loving self. I went in terrified I was going to lose my boy, and now it looks like I'll have him for several more years. I wish 24/7 emergency centers like VEG weren't so expensive, but after reading about the specialized training and certifications that all staff of these centers must have, and how they need to be able to handle literally anything that comes through their doors, I do understand it. The important thing is that they were able to save my cat, who I love as much as any of my kids. And they, both in their 20s, spent half their life with him and would have been just as devastated if we'd lost him. Also have to note that every pet that came through the door while I was sitting with him during his recovery was treated with the same level of attention and care as he'd gotten. Not all of them made it, sadly, but the staff consistently did everything they could to help and ease the pain of the worried and distraught owners. Way too expensive. Price was so high I had to open an account with Care Credit. We're never going back. Yes the staff was kind but for $1,900.00, nope. Never going back. They did not find the root cause either. They said they couldn't find where tge blood was coming from. They sent us home in the same condition we came in. A few days later, the bleeding stopped. If tge couldn't find what was wrong with my Mister, how did they know what would stop it? They could have just given me the meds without running the tests. Last week my fur baby Scooby started to vomit bile. My vet was closing and referred me to VEG. Thank goodness. The compassion and love they showed towards our baby was overwhelming. From start to finish I was allowed to be with my fur baby. Which would not have happened if I took him to his regular vet. (They don't allow you inside the building). Unfortunately my fur baby had to be put to rest. Dr. Winter and the entire staff were so compassionate. They helped us through the process and everyone hugged us. (I was a crying mess). They allowed us to stay with him as long as we wanted to grieve. They even gave us his paw prints. As hard as this ordeal was for my family, VEG made it a bit more comforting. On October 15, 2025, at about 7:30 PM, I took my cat Tabitha to VEG thinking she still had a fever and not eaten. By the time I arrived, the fever was gone. I told them to do a CBC to see what was going on with her The attending vet returned with the results, telling me that she had an infection from a UTI that was probably in her kidneys. She then gave me only two options: hospitalize her for 72 hours, which would have been about $8,000, or euthanize her. I was so distraught after the news that I was not thinking straight; it didn't cross my mind to take her to her vet. she should have suggested to take her to her regular vet for a second opinion and or get the treatment in the vet's office. She kept asking for what decision I was going to take. I decided to let her go because it was too much money to leave her in the hospital. When the vet entered the room,she was alone and had two needles in her hands. When she administered the first needle, the cat screamed in a way I had never heard a cat scream before, and her eyes rolled back as the retina covered half her eyes. Then, she immediately administered the second injection; she didn't even wait a second. I asked why she was giving her the second injection so quickly and not waiting until she was sedated. She lied telling me that was how it was supposed to be. I have had a few pets euthanized, and I know the first injection is supposed to sedate them first and the second one is to stop their heart. I am sure the first one she gave her was the shot to stop her heart. The horrible experience has been affecting me so much--feeling guilty, sad, depressed, and angry for trusting someone who is supposed to help and protect animals. I just hope it was a mistake and this is not the way she euthanizes animals. The emergency room should always have a Dr. with experience to prevent something like this happening again. Please investigate the incident. I asked my vet today and he told me that there are different kinds of infections to treat, and he would've kept her in his office treating her. I am devastated, please before you euthanize your pet go for a second opinion. read more

I explained what was wrong. And the doctor & nurse took it from there. They explained every step they would do with her. They explained what was wrong with her. Our 17-year-old Bichon had an issue so we called our veterinarian. He was closed and recommended the Veterinary Emergency Group here in my hometown. I was so glad he did. We called and they said to come right in. We checked in quickly when we arrived and were with a doctor very soon..they said we could stay with Kida the whole time! The area was very clean. The entire staff was very pleasant, and kind, and showed so much love for our Kida. I had a pet emergency, and Banfield had no doctor of any kind to see my dog. I asked for a place that would see my dog, and the nurse there gave me three names. I asked her: "Where would you take your dog?" She immediately pointed to the second choice and said: "I'd steer clear of this place." Let that idiocy sink in for a moment. I asked her the same question again, and she told me to take my dog to VEG. VEG looked very nice, very open concept, and had a huge amount of staff running around. Everyone was immediately polite. I gave them all of the issues and symptoms and the understanding that my dog needed fluids. Regardless of the possible reasons and outcomes, he was definitely dehydrated. I figured he contracted the same stomach virus that burned its way through my household. He likely had a rotavirus causing gastroenteritis. I stated I was in a weird position because I was about to close on a house. I wanted a practical approach. I have insurance but have to wait to be paid back. They quoted $1700. Suggesting I use Credit Care. I went forward, but I was denied - despite having solid credit. I went ahead and paid the fee. I was charged for unnecessary tests for them to conclude...he needs fluids. They tell me they need to charge another $1500+. I was angry. It's been hours waiting to get the exact diagnosis I stated from the beginning. I decided to return to Banfield; for fluids they quoted $290. VEG tried to convince me to stay because they'll monitor my dog for 24 hours. They hadn't paid attention to any other animals the entire time I was there. I didn't want to leave my dog there. I was taking Archie and they rushed to get me to let them (at least) give my dog a bolus fluid injection. Like it was a favor to me... They should have done it in the very beginning. He immediately started feeling better. I took him home and gave him electrolytes. I would still take him to Banfield for his IV. Banfield calls me back and tells me they won't take him in because VEG called them. Banfield decided, because they "care" about my dog, that they would refuse to let my dog be cared for there. They claimed it's for liability purposes. No. Enough. I researched which veterinarians were considered the best in the state. I found Maywood Veterinary Clinic. Maywood took exceptional care of my dog and were honest and did not gouge me with high pressure sales tactics making me think my dog was dying. I was charged a total of $190 and they confirmed exactly what I already knew. That Archie was dehydrated, needed fluids, and likely had gastroenteritis. They did not charge me to do an IV. It wasn't necessary, and his bloodwork did not showcase anything ridiculous leading to any conclusion my dog was in danger. VEG tried to argue he was. Maywood gave him an additional fluid injection bolus and he was back to his normal self in 20 minutes. I still gave him coconut water and pedialyte for a few more days to keep him hydrated while the meds he had took their course. I think Veterinary Emergency Group is a nice place that may mean well but created a high pressure sales environment. Had it been my wife, we would have likely paid more than $3000 in charges when none of that was necessary because their tactics would have turned her (in her own words), into a crying puddle of fear. A few days later, my mortgage lender ran my credit again and found that Credit Care hit me for nearly a 50 point drop in my credit score. This was unacceptable. My lender felt awful. The people at VEG when I refused to pay for any more of their expensive tests treated me, politely, but in a manner as if I didn't care about my dog. They sort of began to ignore me and tried to get me out of there since I was not going to pay for anything else. I waited 37 minutes to get my discharge paperwork and meds. VeG and Banfield both, I will never go to again. Banfield is not a hospital and they are not a clinic. They are overpriced and never have anyone available to help or refuse at their convenience. Archie is perfectly ok, happy, chipper, full of zoomies again, and is healthy. Maywood even helped me find snacks Archie likes, along with a free bag of dog food they gave me that he loves along with a ton of other goodies. Including a toy he now plays with everyday. Pet insurance doesn't cover care upfront, it reimburses. How many normal americans have $3000+ for needless tests and service when an animal simply needs fluids? What veterinary clinic/hospital refuses to give care because another facility tells them not to? Especially when the other facility is 5+ times more expensive??? I'd avoid VEG and Banfield. I'd look into veterinary clinics that don't shamelessly use the word "hospital" in their name to inflate their worth and perceived abilities. If you're in Jersey? Go to Maywood. read more

I am just writing about my own experience but it was very very poor. Not once did I ever feel that anyone cared about the welfare of my pet, really wondered what was wrong with him or why I brought him in or really tried to help me make him feel better. They just seemed concerned about running as many tests as possible. And the prices for this clinic are outrageous. My cat was acting very weird and unusual -- kind of limping and low energy and just not himself. I brought him in to the clinic in hopes to figure out what the problem might be. He ended up having a fever when his temperature was taken. So the doctor wanted to perform tests to see what the cause of the fever was. The estimate for my bill was $1700. I ended up waiting for more than 2 hours in the office--which is a weird open floor plan where you can see everything that goes on in the clinic. During that time, a huge dog was brought in during an emergency visit and died right in front of me while I was waiting -- which was very disturbing. He was literally feet in front of where I was told to wait when he died on the table. Nobody apologized that I had to see the dog die in front of me--they just went on like business as normal. Cut back to my $1700 worth of testing...the doctor ended up saying she had "no idea" why my cat was sick despite everything she had tested for. I could leave him for more testing and hospitalization. But that would be $2000 more at a minimum. And no guarantees they would figure anything out. So I took my cat home again. On the way out, I found out the antibiotics and fluids they had given him were another $200. So basically, I'm out $2000, I got to see a huge dog die in front of me and I have no idea why my cat is sick and my only option if he continues to act weird is to take him somewhere else where I can spend even more money. Stay far away from this place--especially from Dr. Rubal Lobana! If I could go back in time and take my dog elsewhere, I truly believe we would have had a different outcome. This clinic has changed drastically over the years. They used to provide compassionate, attentive care, but now it's all about money, not the well-being of the animals. On October 16th, I brought my dog in because he was vomiting, not eating, and shaking in pain. We waited an hour before anyone even saw him. From the moment Dr. Rubal Lobana entered the room, it was clear she wasn't fully attentive. She insisted he needed to be hospitalized for 24-48 hours before even performing bloodwork or X-rays. All I heard was, "I'll send you an estimate; we need payment before we do anything." After bloodwork and X-rays--costing over $2,000--she diagnosed him with pancreatitis and sent me another estimate of $2,800 for the hospitalization. I refused to pay the additional $2800, so she sent my dog home with pain meds, probiotics, and prescription food. Not once did she mention anything else wrong on his X-rays. At home my dog seemed to be better and back to his normal self after 2-3 days...Fast forward to November 4th, my dog was rapidly declining. A different vet at the clinic reviewed his X-rays from October 16th and compared them to new X-rays taken that day. She immediately noticed something concerning--areas that warranted further investigation. An ultrasound confirmed a 10cm mass, likely cancerous, in his GI tract. By then, his liver was failing, and surgery wasn't an option due to his age and the mass's location. What devastates me most is that Dr. Rubal Lobana completely overlooked this mass on October 16th. She was more concerned with pushing hospitalization and running up my bill than truly caring for my dog. If she had ordered an ultrasound then, we could have confirmed the mass earlier and given my dog the best possible care--or at least the most loving final weeks. I tried speaking to the so-called managers, but of course, they refused to admit any wrongdoing. Instead, they offered me a $700 credit out of the $5,000 I spent because I was dissatisfied. That's a slap in the face considering the emotional and financial toll of their negligence. After getting second opinions, I've learned the mass--and possibly signs of pneumonia or cancer metastasis--was visible on both the October and November X-rays. VEG completely failed to inform me of this. I'm not blaming VEG for my dog's death, but I absolutely blame them for their lack of attention, communication, and care. This place has lost its compassion and now seems solely focused on profit. Please don't risk your pet's life here--find a vet who truly prioritizes your pet's health and well-being. read more

This past Friday, we had to put our baby boy Chocolate to sleep, it was a very difficult day to say the least... but after the way we were treated at the vet we saw for years (terrible), I needed to get on and leave a review because the compassion and care we received at VEG was just remarkable. Dr. Lobana was amazing! She took time to answer all of our questions and allowed our entire family to get there to say our goodbyes. They treated our boy so well, and this was our very first time there. The staff is truly a blessing. A nurse came in and took clippings of Chocolate's hair and gave us glass bottles to take it in, and did his paw prints for us. They allowed us as much time as we needed, in a private room. Having a sick pet is one of the most traumatizing experiences. You're generally forced to put a monetary value on "how much" your pet is worth to you. Most places won't even look at your pet before they swipe your card for payment. My 11 year old frenchie had what I believed to be a stroke and he was struggling to breathe. I took him to VEG and I was taken back by the care he received. Within seconds of walking in, my baby was surrounded by staff caring for him. When I tell you it felt like my family was working on him with the way they treated him and loved on him was like they've known him his whole life, literally as if he belonged to every single person that helped work on him it was amazing! We honestly absolutely dread having to take any of our babies to the hospital but I will say having VEG down the street knowing how they do things and how amazing and fast they work to make sure things get done is amazing to watch and gives me all the comfort I need if we ever have to take one of our babies again we definitely won't hesitate to bring them here. They allowed us to watch and be around while everything was happening just so our boy can feel comfortable seeing his mom and dad in the room. Before leaving they made sure we understood everything about the how the next couple of days would work. We got all his meds on the spot and of course Monroe got extra cuddles before leaving and treats :) (which he absolutely loved) VEG I can't thank you enough ! I would give them a zero if I could . My 11 month old pup was suffering from blood diarrhea and vomiting for a day . He was otherwise playing and barking . They gave him antibiotics and probiotics which I already give him at home and they quantity of the medication was so less . I did not get the chance to recover . They charged me exorbitantly and my dog was worse after that . I did not go back to them because again they would have made a higher bill and not help him at all . These services should not be running to cut throats of customers. We love our pets and they take full advantage of that emotion to make money . read more
