The veterinarian dr Peggy hauck said my dog won't last a night. I took my dog to redbank in Hillsborough and my dog is alive and well. And they charged me $825 for blood work and IV fluids just one bag. Won't come back to this horrible place. My dog would be dead by now with that vet. I took my dog to the emergency vet to get help for my poor little girl, and the entire experience was heartbreaking. First of all, they wouldn't even let me go in with her -- which was horrifying. My little girl has been by my side for 14 years; she's never been without me. To imagine her scared, not feeling well, and taken away from me like that just broke my heart. After giving her the medication she needed, they sat us down and presented an outrageous estimate -- over $10,000 just to keep her alive. Before we even went, I had spoken with my regular vet. He told me exactly what to ask for and what my dog needed. He also specifically advised me never to leave any of my dogs overnight at a hospital unless it was absolutely crucial. I trusted his judgment -- and I knew in my heart my girl would be okay with the right care. But the emergency clinic tried to guilt and scare us, saying that if we didn't leave her there, she would die. Shame on them. It's devastating to see what so many of these vet hospitals are becoming -- businesses more focused on money than compassion. They take advantage of pet owners when we're at our most vulnerable, knowing how deeply we love our animals, and then pressure us into debt with fear tactics. It's disgusting and heartbreaking to see. Our pets deserve genuine care -- not manipulation. We have had great experiences with Animerge! The vets are thorough and accessible. We've taken wildlife to them as well. Our cat had a horrible inner ear infection. They were thorough and didn't charge much more than our regular vet. Animerge has ultrasounds, x-rays, and labs. They are great at recommending care beyond what they can do. A vet dermatologist was recommended for our cat's inner ear infection. I had no idea a dermatologist would even handle something like that. They are open 24 hours so if you're worried about your pet, someone will call you back no matter the time. read more

The front desk people were friendly and compassionate. That ended once my cat was brought in the back. After 2 hours of waiting I was told my Kitty probably had cancer. They wanted her to stay overnight so that an ultrasound could be performed in the morning and I vehemently declined. For $1400 you would think there would be a tech on site to do an ultrasound. My cat does NOT have cancer and my family was traumatized over nothing. The vet that did the evaluation seemed nervous and unsure of herself. If you are sending a newbie vet to speak to clients then perhaps there should be some supervision. Disclaimer, I did not actually take my cat here. BUT I did have a full 15-minute conversation over the phone with someone super helpful with answering questions and giving advice. My cat had (what I think is) an abscess that ruptured with bloody pus, and we talked through every little detail, and she gave specifics next steps and possible options for me and my pet. She also recommended what to look out for and even provided suggestions for other local ER locations should his condition worsen. Very disappointed with the team at Animerge. Took about a half hour to get checked in as front desk was on the phone. Once finally in the exam room (another half hour - note no one else is in the office), they immediately wanted to sedate my pup for their safety. Unfortunately he's a reactive dog but once you kneel in front of him and attempt to console him, he's the sweetest thing. No attempt was made. They took him back to the employees only area for another hour. A lot of discussion that I could overhear - what's for lunch, giggles, not much was said about my dog...they came back, said no broken bones were had. I was told he had some pain medications and some sedation. They were to prescribe me carprofen, which Hudson had a very bad reaction to prior to the point he had florid GI bleeding and had to be taken to the emergency room last. I told them I didn't want it, and we settled on a gi protectant and maybe attempt a half dose carprofen. I was discharged an hour later as they were doing paperwork for this lengthy hour. Still no other patients being seen at this time. They also forgot the gi protectant and carprofen. Wish they had asked me about his allergies or adverse reactions prior. Today my pup is not feeling well as he's had gi bleeding all this morning. No gi protectant given per notes and charges. My dog had an allergic reaction to a vaccine given at her regular vet's office. Since her vet isn't open 24 hours, I called Animerge in the middle of the night to see if they could help. Everything was fantastic from the drop off, to the short wait, to the conversation with the vet who explained everything she could do for my dog. My dog was given meds to stop the reaction, was monitored for 15 minutes and I was given detailed instructions on how to care for her when I brought her home. If you need to see a vetinarian and it's after hours and an Emergency then Animerge in Raritan on 202/206 south is the place to go. You will pay more then an average vet visit around $175 to have your pet seen. They are open 24 hours a day and you don't need an appointment. You just show up and get buzzed in. If by chance it's 2am in the morning like when I needed to go, and you get there and you try to get buzzed in and no one answers just call them on their phone and let them know you're at their door. Sometimes they don't hear the buzzer which will let you in. They tend to be in the back helping other animals. There is a large parking lot in the back where the entrance is. Animerge is a full Emergency Animal Hospital for cats and dogs. My 16 yr old black Pomeranian Max was having seizures on and off since Christmas morning. My regular vet was closed and I was advised if my dog had another two more seizures within three hours apart I would need to go to Animerge. Sadly,he did have two more seizures, and the meds weren't working. His last one was over five minutes. The staff at Animerge was extremely caring and compassionate. Everything going on with my Max was carefully, and gingerly explained to me. I never felt rushed or pressured into making a decision. The Vetinarian on call was Dr Selena Davis, she was very kind and compassionate. The two techs working with her were also wonderful. I was given several options and unfortunately, I had to make some very tough choices for my beautiful dog. They all consoled me.( My daughter and I were a total mess.) I was brought into a room, and given time with my Max. They wrapped him in a very soft fleece blanket, The one I brought with me he soiled. My Max did come out of his seizure but I was told he would not have any quality of life, and the seizures would probably get worse. Again, sadly my Max went to doggie heaven. Dr Davis allowed me to stay with my dog throughout the entire procedure, my Max went peacefully. I was given a couple of sets of paw prints, until the ones I ordered arrived along with some of his hair clippings for remembrance. I did have to decide on what course of action I wanted for my dog. Again,I was given several options. This was my second time at Animerge in four years. I also had to put down my female Pomeranian Lola. I was surprised to receive a beautiful card in the mail yesterday with a note saying how sorry they were for my loss. I truly felt the staff working here are total animal lovers. I get it. It's the Era of covid. So no humans allowed inside. Beyond that, covid makes a handy excuse to book way more patients than you can possibly see - ostensibly without the other patients knowing. (All covid restrictions are currently lifted) Full parking lot means too many people waiting. Dr. Reckelhoff's "bedside manner" was exceptionally sensitive and caring. I am so grateful to Drs.Guy and Guzman and the entire staff of Animerge. My cat was having trouble urinating, so I brought him in. Dr.Guy tried the least invasive and most economical approach first. When that didn't help, he was admitted that same night, and Dr.Guy stayed late to operate on him herself. She clearly goes above and beyond for her adorable patients. Throughout the experience, she was caring and attentive to my economic needs and descriptions of his symptoms. The next day Dr.Guzman was very thorough in following up with me and explaining how he was doing - this was his first time ever away from home. All the staff I communicated with attended to my concerns, reassuring me all the way. We came in the night after he was discharged (and the night after also) to check him for additional symptoms. This review is for Dr Freeman as a traveling vet, not with Animerge. We took our beloved cat Chloe in for her yearly well checkup exam and haircut. The next thing we know we're getting a call that she's dead. In trying to understand what went wrong, there are so many instances of negligence and decisions that don't make sense. We brought in a healthy, happy, 8-year young cat, for a HAIR CUT and she winds up dead. This was classified as a surgery, and Andrea was the traveling surgeon performing on Chloe. In meeting with the vet who owned the practice, she was noticeably shaken herself and confirmed that there were many things that were strange about Chloe's circumstances, and she didn't know how so many things had gone wrong. There were missed steps, cut corners, misinformation, information withheld. When the owner tried to explain what happened, she said that Chloe went into cardiac arrest during her haircut after being administered 2 shots of the sedative Alfaxan. She said halfway into her haircut she was flipped over and then her heart stopped beating. Then she tried to tell us about mucus coming out of a tube they tried to use to resuscitate her and claimed maybe she had pneumonia. None of this was making sense, because Chloe was perfectly happy and healthy at home. Eating, drinking, using the bathroom normally. No sneezing, coughing, wheezing, nothing. Then the truth came out that Chloe had NOT received any kind of exam prior to being administered the drugs and beginning the haircut. Her current state and health was not evaluated because the staff claimed she was too difficult to examine while awake. So they went ahead and administered drugs DIFFERENT from what Chloe has normally been given during this procedure, which she has received 2 times in the past and done fine on. Dr Freeman claimed that the drugs Chloe was given were less risky than the previous drugs she had been given, and that's why the decision was made to switch. But without examining her they have no way of knowing if there was something going on with Chloe that made it a risk to give her these drugs. Dr. Freeman was also not available to speak to in person once we arrived at the office. So we had to ask multiple times for the owner to get Dr. Freeman on speakerphone, which she finally did. It was only after we questioned Dr. Freeman for several minutes that she explained that she gave Chloe way more drugs than the owner had previously stated. They are clearly not communicating with each other. Dr. Freeman said she gave her aflaxan 3 separate times. There is also an additional drug listed, buprenex, that dr freeman did not advise of when we were speaking with her. Then dr. freeman said she also gave her gas. She said Chloe was stressed out and growling and upset the entire time, but she continued to persist and give her more drugs. WHY would you not stop and just take a step back and call the owner and say you are unable to deal with the pet? We never gave any permission to administer anesthesia. I am also horrified that my cat was given ANYTHING without being examined first. Not only that, both the owner and dr freeman admitted that Chloe was NOT HOOKED UP TO ANY IV OR ANY HEART RATE MONITOR DURING ANY OF THIS. Her vitals were not being checked or monitored, her well-being was completely disregarded. Dr freeman said that it was too difficult to get her hooked up to anything while she was not sedated. This goes against every proper procedure for sedating cats or putting them under anesthesia. She also said that they had a towel over chloe's head and face and had her biting a towel. This cat was under SO MUCH DISTRESS but they continued to take actions to make her even more upset. This was a horrific judgement call. This was a voluntary procedure and I would NEVER EVER want it done with my cat under this much stress. None of this was ever communicated to us. Dr. Freeman admitted she was rushing and just trying to get Chloe's procedure over with. She said VERBATIM to the tech, "lets just start cutting to get this over with" immediately upon giving gas without having any indication of vitals. In her report Dr Freeman states that her "heartrate was good and she was breathing" but she admitted to me that she was not hooked up to any monitoring and there was no way for sure to know what her heartrate was. Then the vet tech noticed Chloe had urinated and she wasn't breathing. Her heart had stopped and she was dead. FOR A HAIRCUT. How at any point did NO ONE in the room stop and consider what they were doing????? This was not a surgery or a life or death situation. Dr Freeman and her careless decisions killed my cat. Our family has been destroyed over this. Dr. freeman did not even contact my family herself. She was also audibly annoyed when asked to recount the events that transpired a second time, with heavy sighing and annoyance in her voice. read more

Although I have to let my beloved cat be put to sleep just yesterday afternoon. The staff had been great. They were very in touch with your raw emotions, they gave me a quiet/alone time with my baby. She died in my arms. Not in the arms of strangers. That was the hardest part- letting go! Fiona nursed and accompanied me like a shadow when I was sick with COVID April of 2020. When I coughed, she runs to me and looks me in the eye and purrs. Like saying, I'm here for you. I will never have anyone like her. I'm not even gonna look. It's too hard to lose a family member. A four legged family member. When I am late from work, she stays by the window looking out for my car then runs to the door to meet me -First. I have 2 other cats, when I a sneeze, they hide-lol. The only thing I would recommend is that while the paperwork is long and drawn out, they could just have allowed the parent/owner to be able to spend "that waiting time between signatures" with their love one who will soon be gone from their lives. Yes, they are Expensive. Other than that, the staff were all wonderful, Ryan (in person), Dr. McNeil(phone), young lady that brought the papers back & forth), the young Asian lady that brought Fiona swaddled in a blanket outside to my car for some alone time and Dr. Lee who administered the drugs and was very respectful. I always assumed that animal emergency places were overpriced and understaffed, but that could not be more wrong about this place. They were so compassionate and accommodating to both myself and my little Cindy Lou who had lived a very happy and loved 17 years, but was now suffering and couldn't hold on any longer. Other at home euthanasia places wouldn't return my calls or the one that did wanted over $800 for the service. Animerge charged me $110 and they were available 24/7 so I could decide the right time. I'd pay anything for my baby's health and comfort, but it's the principle of taking advantage of people in crisis. I had brought my cat there in the middle of the night because she had not been going to the bathroom (#2), was meowing in pain, there was blood in the urine, etc. I had intended to take her to the Vet first thing in the morning but since she seemed to be in pain and she's also an elderly cat (I had also went on askavet and they said I should go immediately to the emergency vet) so away I went. There are not many choices at 3 in the morning so i wound up at Animerge. I'll make this briefer, I had to call back for test results today and they were like the results were negative go to another vet or come back here (there is not a snowballs chance in hell that will happen). Sunday evening, you're starting to think about the coming week of work, and then you notice that your male cat is walking slow and careful and avoids the dog, his best friend in the house. We suspected a urinary tract blockage and called Animerge. They got us on the phone with a vet tech asap and had him down there within the hour. Everyone was welcoming, reassuring, and attentive to him. We had a follow up call from the attending vet later that night to let us know that a catheter had been put in and he was comfortable and sleeping. They kept him for 3 days to be sure he was OK and sent him home with a package of supplies and instructions. My cat is 12 now and for most of his life he has been cared for by my local vet. However, her office has limits in terms of the kind of care she can provide so she referred me to Animerge when he had growths in his ear that were getting infected repeatedly. Now, the thing you need to understand is my cat is one adorable pile of mush - at home. As soon as you take him to a vet he becomes a furball of terror. The folks at Animerge were total pros in dealing with him. They have the ability to knock a pet out with gas so they can properly examine him and do what they have to do. Under an hour later the animal is back in the land of consciousness. This was huge as normally my vet would have to inject him with something that would knock him out for half a day. First I consulted Dr. Glasser when we thought that chemo treatment may have been needed. His initial consult with me was fantastic. He took time to explain every single aspect of the care, the X-rays and what he felt was best: which was not to perform chemo but rather have Dr. Collins examine him and possibly perform surgery. He was very patient in discussing quality of life for an animal versus quantity of life. Ultimately Dr. Collins did recommend surgery on his ear. They had to remove the entire ear canal due to the way the growths were coming out, but they managed to seal the wound area up and while my cat no longer has hearing there, he also doesn't have an infected ear constantly either. I was asked to bring him back for a follow up and I was given very clear instructions on how to care for him post-surgery. From beginning to end my experiences at Animerge were extremely positive and I would have no issue bringing my cat back for treatment in the future. read more

Our little girl ginger a shitzu 11 years in age have been plague with illnesses for the last two years . My wife noticed that ginger was bleeding from her rear end . I rarely leave a review but my husband and I just had the worst experience at this vet. I also want to point out that curbside at a vet hospital is a horrible idea. So impersonal and is basically a way of saying we don't want to deal with you. Not to mention I am pregnant and was waiting in my car for two hours crying and they wouldn't even let me in to use the bathroom. Just wrong. Anyway- our 10 week old puppy had a bad reaction to something and was extremely extremely urgently sick. She was limp throwing up dizzy and we were beyond terrified. Then after they kept calling us to ask questions which made us even more nervous because again so impersonal and made everything hard to gage. Then after a ton of time of no reassurance of her getting better they tell us our dog is acting unusual and we need to take her to a neurologist because she has head trauma. This made us panic more and when we asked if she was okay they said they are trying to "stabilize her". This put us into full panic mode as this is extremely poor choice of words!! Stabilize as in trying to keep her alive? At this point I'm hysterically crying thinking stabilize means she's very very close to death- I call again they tell me the same answer and the phone clicks. The whole thing was so crazy looking back. When they finally brought her out she seemed way better. The next ER we went to in Red Bank was SOO much better, we actually got to bring our dog inside and see the place and use the restroom! They told us she was fine and did not need a neurologist and gave us actual information and a diagnosis and a plan. The poor communication at this animerge made us think our dog was DYING! This should be zero stars. I called AnimERge about 7:00 AM on Sunday morning and they took my information and said I could come there. I got there to an empty parking lot, called, and was transferred to technician who did an intake and then said they're at capacity and can't take my dog! read more
