Queso, Chips and Salsa
John M.

Place has been here forever yet this is our first visit. Super friendly and the place looks great for its age. The food is solid, and more of a throw back to where it all started...basic yet delicious...Started with out standard of Chips, Salsa and Queso...Salsa has some creeper heat vibes going on and a few pours in the Queso is just what it needed. Wife went the route of the beef Chiladas with red sauce and double rice...sauce was good along with the beef. Rice was fresh and tasty. I went Saritas Enchilada which is Cheese enchiladas topped with Carne and cheese....nice twist for sure. Over all a great visit, and the breakfast menu has attracted out attention...we will be back.

Already ravaged through most of it but heres a pic for posterity

Can confirm that their breakfast tacos are great. Ordered 2 bacon, potato & cheese and 2 steak egg & cheese and they were LOADED with ingredients, and clearly freshly cooked & chopped bacon which is always appreciated. Be sure if ordering to go though to ask for salsa because it seems it doesn't come already in the bag because their red salsa is amazing; on the more runny side but has great flavor and juuust the right level of heat.

They now open for dinner. Always love their food and spicy salsa. Service is pleasant.

Service was quick and everyone was friendly. Inside is much bigger than expected and decorative. Would've taken a picture of the food but an empty plate is enough to say how good it all was.

Fajita Egg and Cheese Taco

Best breakfast tacos I've had hands down! I've been eating here for the past 7 years, probably had them over 100x and I can honestly say that I have not ever been left disappointed. Service is good, normally call in my order and for the past 7 years it's been the same person taking the orders so she knows when it's me which is a plus! Had them yesterday after a few months and it still hit the spot, costs have gone up but that's too be expected. Ordered 2 fajita, egg and cheese tacos which came out to a little over $12.

This is the enchiladas plate and some salad.

Delicious food and friendly service. 10/10 recommend. I've been going here with my family for several years, they never disappoint. Deserves more recognition

Mexican rib eye steak. Dinner!!

It looks like a hole in the wall from outside but the food is amazing. Friendly service. Weekends get crowded but breakfast is also amazing. You won't be disappointed. Your taste buds for Mexican food will be totally satisfied

Beef fajita with guacamole

$14 for two tacos. Two beef fajita with guac cost $14.02???!!! $7 per taco. I paid for them because I already ordered them, but I won't be back again. The tacos weren't very large to justify that price. Either the pricing for this place is off or the lady at the register isn't charging correctly. The menu online has no prices so it's hard to tell. The menu photos on google show the fajita tacos are 3.99 and guac is an extra .50 per taco. I understand things are up in price, but $7 per taco is ridiculous. Plus the guacamole added was very light. Food always taste good but I always have a bad experience when it comes to transparency of the prices. When I walked out, there were other customers asking amongst themselves whether the $120 they paid was correct. It's clear that it's a bigger issue than just what I've experienced.

Left additional tip at the table since service was ok. But overall the cost for an omelette was high.

Ordered a Fajita breakfast omelette. Was overall was good. Service was fine. You rested only the omelette and a water. The cost was $25.00 with tip. Absolutely ridiculous for the quantity/quality of food. Part of the $25 was for a coffee that I never ordered. They did refund that cost of $3.25. But the rest of the bill was the omelette. It seems the menu states ranchero sauce on the omelette but the. It is an add on cost of over $5. Don't think I will be back.

I've lived in Pioneer Crossing West for a few years and have probably driven by Vasquez several hundred times. I had no idea this little Mexican restaurant was so legit! I saw on other posts that their food was authentic so I had to try for myself and, disappointed I was not. Right when I walked in I was greeted with warm, super-courteous, bright-sunshiney smiles. Basically, their staff was super friendly and welcoming. Amazing group of ladies in the front of the house. Unfortunately, I only had takeout so I didn't get to have the full experience of dining in, but I'm still impressed regardless. I ordered the Deluxe Vasquez breakfast plate with Barbacoa, over medium eggs, with a couple of breakfast tacos for us. Their plates all come with potatoes and retried beans, by the way. I'm actually not a fan of retried beans but really enjoyed theirs. My order was prepared in five minutes so that was a pleasant surprise. To top it off, their coffee was the bomb. Just something about these small restaurants and diner types that have such great coffee!

Maybe because we got there an hour before they closed, but the food was so bad. There was nothing but oil and fat in my Barbacoa taco, and Beef Fajita Enchilada Plate.

Have lived in Texas my whole life and have eaten at hundreds (literally) of Mexican restaurants. I'm aware us Austinites get a bad rap when it comes to Mexican food because we're not a border town, but I'm here to say that Vasquez is top 2 and it's not 2. Best kept secret in Austin and I selfishly pray it stays that way. Im literally about to go again right now as the food taste like tear drops from god. I need it in my veins.

Great service and amazing authentic food. We went for brunch and everything was fantastic. I devoured my Huevos divorciados and forgot to take a pic of the food. I also had the best michelada.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

Every single dish at Suerte was completely worth it. The family-style ordering was great because my partner and I got to delight in each dish together. The portions were clearly intentionally sized: nothing too big, but also nothing too small. And each bite had us both sitting and often closing our eyes to fully experience the food. We spent just as much time not talking as we did talking. The food did a lot of talking for us And when we were talking, it was either to one another, or to our server, Jake. Lemme tell ya, knocked it out of the park. His timing was on point. He never hovered, and he practically appeared out of nowhere when our need for him arose. I literally said to him at one point: "your timing is impeccable!" He was delightful, funny, knowledgeable, and very easy to converse with. Our visit would have been wonderful with the food alone, but Jake made the experience particularly memorable. Thank y'all - especially Jake and the chefs - for such a wonderful (and rare for us) date night.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites.
