The young man that works in there did both my feet and hands, my $27 pedicure was quick then asked what kind of nails I wanted to do I started I wanted the pink and white tip gel for $35, he didn't listen got annoyed, was on his phone half the time. I've been going here since they've opened took a 6 month break went back a week ago to get my nails and toes done for my wedding and I'm so upset at how bad my pedicure turned out my feet are so rough now! It's been a week and I swear they're tougher than before I went in!!!! She did the worst job ever she cut my toe nails so bad and the French tip she did on then are crooked but honestly I just wanted to get out of there because every time I asked her to fix it she would get upset or ignore me I finally grabbed her nail file and attempted to fix it myself but it was unfixable I'm planning on going back and showing the manager the horrible job she did. read more

The location is very convenient since I am around the corner for work. However, when I call to make an appointment, they schedule me in, but yet have me wait up to 15-20 mins in the lobby to be called. I recommended my co-workers to go since they do a GREAT job with gel acrylics! We have all experienced a delayed appointment time, which is not a big deal, until recently...PLEASE GO ELSEWHERE TO GET YOUR EYEBROWS DONE. I asked for a simple clean up, and came out with misshapen, very thin eyebrows and my skin was very irritated. You would expect to come out of a salon happy and satisfied, but this was not the case. Never going back! I saw a young lady in a store across the street who had amazing nails. She recommended Variety. On Sunday, when I didn't make my shop on time, I decided to try it. The wait was extremely long. They should have closed the door and turned the open sign off but instead, they kept taking customers. Every one of my nails is shaped differently. One of them was so badly shaped and crooked, I refused to allow him to tell me the "my finger is crooked " I made him fix it. He was upset, but oh well. The full set was supposed to be $27, but he he charged me $30. I got no extras, no gel, no bling bling, and regular length .... What was the extra$3 for? The place is pretty but the staff is questionable. First of all only one in the entire place speaks fluent English, the one who did my pedicure only knew a few words. That I can get over, what I can not gat over is that she burned my foot with the hot lava towel. I got first degree burns on the top of my foot. My skin was red and iterated and almost blistering. My wife has tried a lot of spas in the area and found that Variety Nails does the best and most thorough pedicures. My feet had gotten very calloused and painful after years of trail running and hiking to the point that I had to seek some kind of help. It wasn't a medical problem... yet... so we stopped here early on a Sunday morning and ordered their Deluxe pedicure. I was given a very thorough treatment of my feet and calves with heat, oils, massage, and the cheese grater, and left the store walking without any pain at all for the first time in many years. I was very pleased with the attentive care given to my feet and the excellent results of the treatment I received. The price was very reasonable for the extensive work performed, and I intend to return for additional treatments in the future. read more

I didn't have the best experience and want to warn future customers. I called in advance and still ended up waiting 45 minutes for any service. It wasn't the end of the world for me since I'm studying in graduate school but still. I ended up getting the most rushed, shitty manicure of my life. I've been coming here for at least three years and I have had overall good experiences. Today I went in for a routine fill and needed a nail replaced. The younger man, that I hadn't seen before was friendly but did an absolutely substandard job. Not only did he drill my cuticle so bad it was bleeding during the entire service, but my nails came out bumpy and different lengths. I asked the new nail tech if he could smooth out the bumps and even it out and he tried but it was evident he had little experience. The manager that sits up front and usually does my nails, had me sit up front to wait for him to correct it. After an (additional) hour of waiting the manager asked me to make an appointment for another day when he was less busy. I'm so disappointed with how my nails look and the inconvenience of waiting several hours today and then being asked to come back another day for something thy wasn't my fault. There are too many options in Ahwatukee to not be consistent with service or to not accommodate clients when you, the business, make an error. read more

I am never coming here again!!! Not only are my nails uneven, but the paint job looked like my 6 year old did it; not smooth at all. 2 days later 1 of my nails chipped. I go back to get it fixed. 2 days later 3 nails chipped, including the one that was "fixed". This set didn't last a week; it's a new set! Such a waste of money. I have NEVER been so disrespected by a business in my life. I made a 5:30 appointment to get my eyebrows waxed...JUST A WAX...and I walked out 45 mins later with nothing. The man I made the appointment with made me wait 30 mins to just get in the room they do the eyebrows in, I asked him several times "How much longer?" (Respectfully) And he completely just disregarded me and treated me as if my time meant nothing to him. I waited 45 mins in total to walk out with nothing done. I told the man about his services and he was completely nonchalant about the situation. I don't recommend coming here to get anything done they're all inconsiderate of people's time and they're not good business people because if they were my eyebrows would have been done and I would've been out the door at, at least 5:45. I will never go back due to the poor service how the nail tech in a white shirt young girl black hair today at about 11:30 11/9/19 had an attitude from the beginning she was really rude when the gel lamp kept going off she snapped at me and pointed her finger you keep your hand in their until it turns off! My first visit with the salon was great, everyone was extremely nice and that made me want to come back again. My second visit was with a tech name Tyler, I heard great things about him. My experience (my friends too) unfortunately with him was different. He was extremely rude, I wanted a new full set and he literally used his fingers and an extra nail and ripped them off and was painful. After he painted my nails I just sat there for them to naturally dry, he didn't even put my nails under a UV light, I was air drying them myself. Besides all of that he has a nasty attitude towards my friend and I. Very great salon and people, Except Tyler. I will never ever go back to Tyler to do my nails. read more

I had a terrible experience on Wednesday April 14. I have been a regular customer at Variety Nails for 3 years. However, no more. As I was sitting in the chair getting a pedicure, the manager Terry, came over to drill off product on my nails to prep for dip manicure. This became more than a nail service. It became an interrogation as to whether I have had the Covid vaccine. He kept pressing and harassing me as to whether or not I had the vaccine. Since my pedicure was in process, I could not just walk out. I would have if I was in position to do so. Yesterday I called the AZ State Board of Cosmetology to find out if Terry violated Hippa laws. Spoke to two different people and they both confirmed that he definitely violated Hippa laws by asking me if I was vaccinated. However, it is beyond their jurisdiction. They suggested that I contact the AZ Dept of Health as well as the Attorney Generals office. I am still in shock over the way I was treated by the manager Terry. So disappointed and very angry. Needless to say, I won't be returning. What's next? Show me your papers? read more

I was hesitant to come here because it has a 3 1/2 star rating compared to four stars at another nearby salon that I think is less than amazing. That said, I was pleasantly surprised. It's clean, the staff is nice and professional, and for $30 I got callous remover and a sugar scrub - pretty typical price. But what wasn't typical was the amazing leg massage!! Just came today more for maintenance (my toes were jacked!) but ended up with a really relaxing pedi. Thanks to Katie! She was awesome and funny too! read more

This is by far the worst place I have come to. First the spa pedi with callous remover, pretty sure they don't disinfect the tools. He used a metal scruber and then put them back in my foot bath to clean. (Which is now dirty water because my feet have been in it). Then I asked for just gel removal and gel for my nails. I told him same shape, dont file down. What did he do, filed them down and squared them off. Then had to refile again to round out edges. One nail was filed so far on side it now looks like it is about to rip off. I asked for natural french tip he kept trying to put white out color on my nail. I removed my hand and asked for off white, I want natural and he said yes this is natural look. I finally said never mind and will just pay for pedicure. I strongly dont recomend this place unless you want your nails messed up at an over priced service. read more

I went into Variety Nails to get my nails done and was told that I would be helped "soon". I was seated and proceeded to wait for 25 minutes. I kept being told that someone would be with me soon. Finally, one of the workers came walking from the back of the salon. The first thing that I noticed was that she was flossing her teeth the second thing I noticed was her body language when the guy told her that I was waiting to be helped. She looked really put out that she actually had to work. I immediately got up and left. Flossing is a very personal thing and I didn't want her touching my hands after her fingers were in her mouth. It completely disgusted me in addition to the look of disappointment when she was told I was waiting. I probably won't go back here. She should not be walking around that salon flossing her teeth it is unsanitary and a complete turn off for me. read more

I love this nail salon. The facility is clean an the staff is friendly. The only downside is they seem to overbook appointments. I regularly schedule appointments but still end up waiting 30-60 minutes after my scheduled appointment before they start on me. The services are great so i deal with the wait. Ok so my daughter and I came here for pedicures & manicures both with gel. I called ahead of time because we were wanting to get in & out and scheduled appointments for 4:15 on a Wednesday. So we arrived at 4:15 and not busy just a few customers maybe 4. We get seated in a chair and sat there for about 30 min. As new customers were coming in a waiting also. Someone comes to start on my daughters pedi and I'm still sitting there with my feet in cold water. So my daughter almost done & it seems they do things a little different here with the normal routine we are used to. Very little focus on the feet just the nails it self. They finally get to me and my daughter is about ready for her mani. There time management is horrible I have no idea how this establishment make money. We sat there for a total of 3 hours 2:45 mins to be exact. I only had a pedicure done. Really!!! My daughter was finally done they did ok work but I have to say who has 3 hours to sit in a nail salon. I've always had a mani & pedi with gel with wonderful results and 1.5 hours total. This nail salon is very nice inside, however after several appointments I have decided not to return. This place does not manage appointments at all. In fact, don't waste your time making an appointment because they are never ready for you and you will have to wait. I believe Terry manages the place and he is constantly tending to the door, the phone, other clients while you are on your time. The quality of the products used is not good either... The acrylic nails start lifting within a week and the top coat is flawed with missing spots that do not get covered. The overall experience has not been good and I won't be back. Unless this salon hires someone who can manage appts, do cashiering, etc they will continue to lose customers. **I reviewed the correct place (it was not a mistake). I won't remove this review because it is accurate according to my experience on 4 separate appts. I had no issues with the staff working there, everyone was nice but you must fix the issue with appointments. My time is very valuable to me and I shouldn't have to wait when I have an appt.
