We found Vargas Construction through zGreen, the company that did our mold remediation. They referred us to Robert for the repair work, and man, I'm glad they did. Getting in touch was super easy. I called Robert up, he got back to me right away, and we got something on the books without any hassle. No runaround, no ghosting -- just quick and simple. Robert treated us like actual people, not just another job. He was really attentive, checked in with us throughout the whole thing, and explained everything in plain English. I never felt like I was being annoying with questions -- he actually wanted us to know what was going on. Great communicator, genuinely nice guy. The work quality was top-notch. Our bathroom and garage were pretty wrecked after the mold guys came through, but Robert fixed everything up and made it look better than before. You can tell he cares about doing things right, not just getting it done. He totally respected our home. Floors and carpet were covered and protected the whole time. Nothing got damaged, nothing was left dirty -- they cleaned up after themselves like pros. Felt like they were working in their own house. Would I recommend Vargas Construction? 100% yes. As a homeowner, I'd call Robert again for pretty much anything. If you need someone reliable who actually shows up, does quality work, and treats your place with respect, this is your guy. read more

Through the recommendation of a water damage restoration company that helped us, we got to know Robert. At first, he was only handling the damage repair, but during the process, we saw how professional and meticulous Robert was--he paid close attention to every detail without cutting corners. Gradually, our project expanded from simple repair work to a full house renovation, including painting, flooring, plumbing, door replacements, and new electrical wiring. We were impressed that Robert never overlooked any detail and always made sure the work was done perfectly. He would even spend extra money out of his own pocket to buy better materials so that the finished result would be of higher quality. Under Robert's guidance and high standards, his team also completed every task with great care. Robert even accompanied me to choose building materials, and the worksite was always kept clean and well-managed. I would wholeheartedly recommend Robert and his team to my friends and family--their workmanship is truly trustworthy. read more

We received a recommendation for Vargas Construction from a company that had come out to do some mold remediation for a leak we had in our laundry room. The mold remediation company removed the mold and damaged material, but we needed Robert (the owner) and Vargas Construction to make the room whole again. At the start of the project, Robert put together a detailed itemized quote for us and came by in person to discuss the project with us and meet us. I was very impressed with his professionalism and warmth - it's clear he places a high value on building relationships with his clients, which I really appreciated. He was able to get his team started working right away and they finished the project quickly (only 3 days, even with us adding some additional painting and finishing work to the scope). All of the work looks excellent! Throughout the entire project, Robert was very communicative and did an excellent job keeping us in the loop on what his team was doing and when they would be arriving next. To top it all off, I had made a mistake and provided Robert the wrong finish of paint for the ceiling (flat whereas the rest of the ceiling was painted with eggshell or semigloss). When I told Robert not to worry about it, he insisted that they wanted to get the room looking as nice for us as possible and purchased new paint and repainted the ceiling all free of charge! And for a mistake I had made! Robert and Vargas Construction are the first GCs I've worked with that I can wholeheartedly recommend! They are fantastic to work with and you will not regret giving them your business. Although this project was relatively small, I would not hesitate to bring a much larger project to Robert and am looking forward to working with them more in the future! read more

I initially contacted Vargas Construction to remodel a bathroom, fix a hole in my drywall, and carpet my upstairs. Their hard work and willingness to correct any issues that came up had me adding on a number of additional items. Roberto and his team were a pleasure to deal with, and we're always willing to explain what was going on and go the extra mile to make sure my house was livable during the process. I will definitely come back to them for future projects. read more

We hired Vargas construction for the second time already. This time we wanted to refinish hardwood floors in the living room and kitchen, install new floors in two other rooms, and renovate the kitchen and the pantry. We own an old house and wanted to preserve the original character, hence we requested refurbishing the existing cabinets rather than installing new ones. That included also replacing the countertops, cooktop, sink and dishwashing machine, painting the walls. The pantry needed to be fully repaired, including the removal of built-in shelves. All these projects were done with excellent quality. Our worn out kitchen floor looks like new, and the living room floor is stained beautifully. The refinished cabinets look very fresh, and the crew even refreshed the bronze handles to shine. The floors and the baseboards make these room look great. The Vargas construction crew were very professional, helped move the furniture, and took special care to keep the spaces neat and clean. We chose the Vargas construction for transparency and clarity of the scope of work, and, of course, reasonable prices. We'll invite them for our next home improvement project. We like to work with someone trustful like Roberto Vargas and his company. read more

One stop contractor. We had some water damage in the master bathroom that damaged the subfloor. Vargas construction quoted the subfloor repair, and a new shower. The shower work included expanding it into an old closet. The quote was cheaper than a different company + I was able to work with Vargas Construction to customize it a bit and lower the quote even more by removing items that I felt like I could do (painting, light replacement, etc) The workmanship was amazing! Robert twice called back his workers to fix some minor issues that we would have never noticed. The shower is now the nicest part of our house and puts the rest of our house to shame. We will 100% call them when we redo other parts of our house read more

Robert and his team did a kitchen restoration for us after water damage. We have contacted Vargas construction and they were able to help us out on a very short notice. Robert was very responsive and had been monitoring the crew progress daily. It was well coordinated, good quality workmanship, specially the hardwood floor restoration. Crew was courteous and mindful of reducing the noise and dust. Would be happy to use Vargas construction for another job in the future. read more

We previously had a room addition done very nicely by Mr. Robert in 2010, and so it was a no-brainer to get back in touch with him when we wanted to remodel our kitchen and 2 bathrooms this year. Our experience with Vargas Construction was exceptional yet again. Before starting the job, they make it very clear what to expect. There were no surprises as our contract included an item-by-item cost breakdown and indicated which materials we were expected to provide. Definitely make sure you fully communicate your vision (including little things) to the contractor and that it's reflected in the contract, because that's what they will go by unless you explicitly say so. His team is hard-working and polite as well. They are able to work fast without compromising quality. Mr. Robert makes frequent inspections and will make something be redone if not done up to standard. They were also generous enough to pickup the materials we ordered from the warehouse. As for the results, the pictures speak for themselves. Every guest marvels at the job and asks who we had hired to do such a beautiful job. Vargas Construction has been very good to us and we will definitely be going back to them for any jobs in the future! read more

I hired Vargas Construction to repair the walls and flooring of a closet after mold remediation and to replace internal French doors with an extension of the wall already in place in another room. They did excellent work in drywall, painting and woodwork. Alberto was very prompt in his arrival each morning. He was also very polite and professional. Robert, the owner, is very knowledgeable and helpful. The contract was detailed and the work completed just as promised and earlier than expected. There were no surprise costs increases that frequently occur in construction projects. In fact, Robert installed some baseboards for free because he knew it would look better. Robert was here each day to oversee and/or help with the project. He made sure that I was satisfied with the progress each day. Vargas Construction is capable of much more than what they did for me. I will definitely use them for all future home project needs. I highly recommend! read more

My dad wanted me to write this review on his behalf because he was extremely impressed with Vargas Construction services!! They had a roof damage from a leak. When they came fo repair the inside of the house, they made sure that the furniture and delicate items were covered or moved. They were on time, professional and did great work!! My dad is a man of simple words and for him to tell me to write a review for him goes to show that Vargas Construction is a great business to work with! He loves referring people to businesses that are reliable and treat their customers with kindness, especially during these times. Keep up the great work Vargas Construction!! read more

For the second time in as many months we again hired Vargas Construction. We found a great deal of termite damage underneath the patio door area in our den while installing windows. Roberto and his team were able to remove all of the termite damaged wood, and replace the 12 foot rim joist. Most of our porch had to be demoed in order to get to the sill plate and rim joist. We needed this job done quickly in order to install our new 12 foot patio door, and Roberto and his team were able to accommodate us quickly. We really appreciated his professionalism and hard work, and getting everything fixed in 3 1/2 days. We can always count on him to help us! Roberto will be back in a few weeks to rebuild the porch after we have termite treatment. Thank you Roberto! read more

Had a number of contractors come out for my deck, screen room and other items I needed done. Roberto was the only one who listened to exactly what it was I wanted to accomplish and he made recommendation which I thoroughly liked. Further, I got a detailed estimates which I always like (not just the price). He told me that there might be more damage to the deck (which I suspected) and sure enough there was and he updated the estimate. The project is just about completed and I couldn't be happier. His staff (Felipe & Jesus) are fantastic and such skilled craftsmen. The transition is even better than I had envisioned. Roberto checks in on an ongoing basis to check the work to ensure it is proceeding according to plans. Additionally, I don't think I could have found another company who could have even come close to the quality of workmanship and the fantastic price that I got with this company. I couldn't be a more satisfied customer. read more

Vargas Construction - IPE deck and fence - General Contractors Near Me

One star is being very generous. Yelp should introduce negative rating. Vargas construction Inc is very unprofessional. I got a call from lady at Vargas construction and set up an appointment with Robert for Saturday (5/15) at 10 AM to discuss the work I needed to get done. Robert did not show up on the specified date and time. When I circled back, I was told that the person who booked the appointment forgot to inform Robert regarding the appointment and she was out of town. She then asked me if I will be available after 1 PM the following week. I said yes. No response. Someone reached out to me on Thursday night asking if I would be available on Friday 2PM. I said yes. No one showed up on Friday. This time I sent a message to the Vargas construction stating this is an unprofessional behavior and I wouldn't want to do business with them. Then, someone named Luz claiming to be a CFO of the company reached out and stated that he would address the scheduling department's shortcoming where they did not follow through with their duties. Also, requested for another opportunity so that he can make sure Robert comes and takes a look at the project. That person also told that Robert would be available at 10 AM. When I finally agreed to meet Robert, I was told that Robert can meet me at 1 PM on Saturday (05/22). The day and time came and went no Robert, no response from Luz and no quote. No respect for another individuals time. My advice to everyone is to stay away from this business. read more

Vargas Construction did a few projects for us in preparing our house for sale. We needed some deck rework, some railing rework, and some unknown amount of internal dry rot repair. Getting the projects started was difficult due to the varied discussions with multiple contractors and changing goals. At all times, Roberto (owner) was responsive and respectful. In the end, they had to work around painting and a tight opening day deadline, but all work was done well and on time. They also cleaned up well after their work at the end. In the end, the deck work involved removal and replacement of redwood decking on sleeper decks, including repair of leaks in the tar water barrier, repairs in the wood structure underneath, and new Metacrylics water proofing over all. Additional repairs of damaged wood included siding and underlying structural wood. They went out of their way, twice, to ensure a piece of siding would be as before, and not pieced together (required a special 10' panel). Their time and materials rates were fair and competitive, and their workers were diligent and cooperative. I will likely use them for two major deck replacements in the future. I do recommend them for a wide variety of work. read more

After working with Vargas on our previous project, we decided to work with them again on a kitchen remodel and AC installation. Robert and his team were incredible in their timeliness and quality of their work. Especially highly recommend Vargas for the AC installation. read more

I had started working with Mancer (a local electrician/contractor in Fremont) to get a new AC condenser, high-efficiency furnace, and tankless water heater installed in my home last November. Roberto and his crew from Vargas got called in to help on the project. Communication during the work was great, and I'm very satisfied with the result. The new heater is super quiet and efficient (my gas bill is 1/3 what it was last year during the same months). I haven't had a chance to try out the AC yet since it's still winter, but Robert promised to come out right away and fix it if something went wrong in the summer. :) read more

We brought in Robert and his crew to put in an air conditioning unit and fix a few things around the house. The team was very efficient and they finished the job on time. Overall, really satisfied and will work with them again on other jobs. read more

Vargas construction fully satisfied and exceeded our expectations with renovating and extending our home. They were very cooperative and understanding with our ideas to help build our dream home. They demoed some of the existing walls and utilized an empty lot to build an 800 s.f addition to the existing house. They also remodeled both existing bathrooms by extending the master bathroom and upgrading the guest bathroom. New ceramic tiles of approximately 500 s.f and hardwood floors were installed in the new addition and existing part of the house. Other projects included installing 20 Led recessed light, upgrading the existing furnace, installing new tile over the front porch, replacing the existing water heater with a new noritz tankless heater, painting the interior and exterior part of the house and adding a new A/C split system unit. They also removed the exterior stucco and placed new exterior stucco throughout the house. Two new velux skylights were added in the hallway and in the study. The electrical main and sub panels were upgraded as well as the existing air duct system. They also made a new stamping concrete driveway that connected to a 4' wide walkway. Roberto and his crew are very hardworking, trustworthy group of people that are exceedingly skilled in craftsmanship. My family is very happy and thrilled with the final result. read more

Robert and crew did repairs and upgrades on our deck and sunroom, including adding stucco. It was a beautiful transition. Any questions or issues were resolved with Robert quickly. If there were items that we wanted to consider Robert was able to quickly provide input and pricing. We decided after the heavy rains that we should get new gutters. Asked Robert, had quote and new gutters within 2 days. Had one issue with them after the 1st rain and Robert had it repaired the very next day and all is good. Robert is a man of his word. Doing a project in which Covid-19 impacted lead-times and availability of items and specific colors. I would recommend to all to clearly define in writing what items you need to order and what items are being supplied by contractor and assure that it is ordered at the onset of the project, even if the timeline is that it isn't needed for 3 weeks. Thank you Robert, your family and crew! read more

Vargas Construction was hired by our Contractor to convert our single carport into an ADU. In just a few words to summarize our experience working with Robert, it's been professional, high quality, collaborative, and delightful. Robert is a real problem solver and takes ownership of his work and initiative, such as sees things that the plans didn't point out and brings them to our attention for resolving. This was evident in a lot of things that weren't blocking him, but if it doesn't look right to him, he'll highlight it for us. He personally was on site for almost the entire job daily because he is just that detailed and puts a high standard on himself and his crew. Speaking of his crew, they were all incredibly cordial and professional. Throughout the project, as we gained increasing confidence in the quality of work from Vargas construction we actually added scope which included additional concrete work in the front yard and backyard, and repainting the whole house. And while at a dinner with friends who heard about our project and asked us for information as they were considering doing their own remodeling, along with our recommending the Contractor we used we specifically added "Also, see if you can get them to assign Robert. He could be busy already but try to ask anyway." read more

Calling all (Montclair) Oakland hills residents!!!!! The people are Vargas construction are amazing. Initially, I took some estimates with other companies but something about the honesty and knowledge Robert had that made me decide to go with him. I needed a deck repaired but after talking to robert decided to replace the whole thing due to unseen, underlying damages. Robert and his crew basically transformed it from the basic 1938 style deck to somethjng you'd see in a modern high end restaurant. It's just amazing. His crew, worked everyday on it, andddd they cleaned up everyday so it wouldn't be an eyesore of a mess to see during construction. Adolfo and Robert jr, worked patiently to get it done right under the guidance of Robert sr. Robert kept me informed every step of the way, I can't say enough. Me and my wife were thinking about moving towards the South Bay but with these new renovations we have to enjoy this; we can't leave just yet hahhaa. Well check out the pictures below of before and after and tell me if you can just up and leave after having this deck? And guess what? We decided to redo the floors and we are going with Vargas Construction again!! When it's all done you'll see another great review from me with pictures!! Vargas Construction (Robert) and his team made my dreams come true! I've been planning to remodel my kitchen and living room for 6 months and received several quotes before deciding on a contractor. I picked Robert because I trusted him and his prior construction background and experience and he gave a very good quote (no one else could beat). I meet with Robert several times to go over my plan and he made the process very easy. He understood exactly what I wanted and made me feel very comfortable along the way and I trusted him and his team in my home. He completed my kitchen and living room in 6 weeks as promised and they did an excellent job, it was a big job (creating a whole new kitchen, with new beautiful island, adding a new sliding door and closing up a wall/door, adding new gas stove in my island and removing a wall, new floors, painting, baseboards, installing all the latest and greatest appliances, adding a new back-splash and hood range in my island), I am proud and confident to recommend anyone to Robert. If you were looking for a home or bathroom remodel in the San Jose bay area, check out Vargas construction! Robert Vargas and his crew are professional, hardworking and pleasant to work with. Robert and his team enlarged an existing bathroom and remodeled a large portion of our house using high-quality materials, professional workmanship with attention to detail. If you're looking to redo your bathroom or upgrade your existing home, I would highly recommend Vargas construction. Our project was quite complicated: we wanted to replace the galvanized pipes with new copper ones in our small bathroom upstairs in a hundred year old house where access to the pipes is quite tricky. Also, we wanted to put new floor and wall tiles. We chose to go with Vargas Construction after meeting with a few construction companies' representatives. Robert, the owner, assessed the project's scope and all the steps needed to be completed. His estimate was the best we got: it was properly itemized, and the payments' dates were indicated. The plumbing crew was great: they completed the job quickly and did everything in their power to replace the pipes without damaging the walls, which, again, was pretty challenging. We were impressed by the overall quality of work and the professionalism of all crew members: our small bathroom looks amazing with the new tiles, new toilet, and sink. The crews worked fast and left everything clean and neat. Shortly after that, I noticed the water was dripping from the pipe outside the house. Robert inspected the problem and found out that our old water heater was leaking and another old galvanized water pipe was broken. We were very worried, but Robert fixed all this in two days without much trouble for us! We are very happy that we decided to contract Vargas Construction! read more

Robert did a great job with our remodelling project back in 2015. Robert was very professional while inspecting our property and gave us a competitive quote! He was very accommodative of our frequent changes and still managed to stay close the original quote. We had a particularly tight timeline and Robert managed to complete the work within that timeline, as promised. Robert also follows up if there are any issues faced after the work is done.
