I was at the mall few days ago and was just browsing the store. Vans is literally one of my 1st go- to authletic store that has everything from shirts, socks, hats/caps, tennis shoes, to skateboards. As I was walking down the aisles, few things popped up that I know I could use, so I ended up buying. 2 short sleeve shirts and nice black sweatshirt with a hoodie. Customer service was great and they had a lot of things to choose from. Everything is priced differently. I have bought shoes from them in the past and wore them until I outgrew them. They have items on sale racks and have been around since 1966. Store was easy to navigate and was SUPER CLEAN!!! Quality along with fabric and comfort is above and beyond ones expectations. My visit to Vans' Sherman Oaks location was an impromptu one because I was assigned a last-minute in-person project event that required white shoes of all things! If you knew me at all, I simply didn't buy anything white anymore because the color easily got dirty. Well, when a paycheck was literally calling, I had to jump into a pair of white kickers! As for the brand itself, I basically grew up in Vans while I saved my allowance, birthday, and Christmas monies, and went to my nearest shop in La Canada Flintridge to slap down the dollars for pairs of crazy customized shoes. Needless to say, I was a fanboy, and although I've nearly moved on as an adult, I still had a few pairs to lounge around in. How was this unexpected shopping excursion for something I didn't care for!? I was probably the easiest customer they had all day - thank you! PARKING (FREE) Located inside the Westfield Fashion Square Shopping Center, there were ample spots throughout the multi-level parking structure (I believed there was also a valet) - 'nuff said. ATMOSPHERE, DÉCOR, AMBIENCE A small store that maximized its space efficiently from display tables and rack shelving filled with caps and clothes, peg boards that held boxers, shoelaces, and socks, and shoe wall displays towards the back in addition to wallets and the other smaller items at the register. I actually had no issues with the store itself, it was easy to find inside the mall, parking was a breeze, the prices were comparable, the inventory was very good, and I liked the young energetic staff. I stopped by this Vans store right when they open inside Westfield Sherman Oaks mall while my wife was looking at jewlery at another store nearby. I know that they carry skateboard here so I wanted to see what designs they had here. The skateboard prices are pretty reasonable. The store was not busy at all and they had some deals for Cyber Monday soon. I looked at some tshirts they had out and also some sweather but nothing stood out to me. The employees didn't really approach me, they just stayed at the cashier area talking to each other which I didn't mind. read more

Vans will always have a special place in my heart... this store is spacious, full of great personalities, and always has a selection available. Prices are okay, Vans shoes have gotten a little more expensive through the years. There's a sale rack if you're interested in clothes. They don't generally have great Black Friday deals, unless you don't mind perusing older styles that aren't as popular. Staff is cheerful and laidback here. Definitely a lot of culture-fits here. Ample parking in the garage and area around the shopping center. Store is on the second floor. read more

Not surprised at the 3 star average. The receipt says Angela. She's short, wears glasses, and has dark hair. Well, Angela is lacking essential skills when working retail. I recommend extensive customer service training, store policy review, and attention to detail. I went in to exchange some shoes ($85) for different style but forgot my receipt at home. She said they could only grant me the sale price ($49). Understandable, so I went home and came back with my receipt. As soon as I walked into the store and happily let her know I found my receipt, I told her that I was going to check out their selection of shoes. I found a pair ($65) and went up to the register to let her know I'd be returning the $85 shoes for store credit (it had been more than 30 days) and then purchasing the shoes I found for $65 so that I could get the $25 off card for my next purchase. Angela said I could "ONLY do an exchange and not a refund, per store policy" because it was past 30 days. I agreed and let her know I was asking for store credit, NOT a refund because I'm aware it had been more than 30 days. A store credit is permitted. Her flustered response was "I think you're not understanding" - in a condescending tone. This is when I could have just been set off and made a scene because I felt highly disrespected. Instead, I let her know that she should be able to do the store credit and with that store credit I should be able to make my separate purchase. She made a nasty face and completed the transaction. The whole experience was awkward, uncalled for, and extremely tense!! When she finished, she just starred at the screen and I stood there assuming there was something else left until I asked "is that it?".. without looking up, she just said "yup" and I said "thank you have a nice day too" (my response to her angry demeanor). Overall, I'm not sure why she was so adamant on just fulfilling what I was asking for. She was rude from the beginning and I dismissed it, but it was honestly too much. I'm familiar with VANS store policy after not only having worked at one for over a year, but as a loyal customer. As a great company and lifestyle it represents, I'm disappointed on how LOW the bar appears to be set in this location. Not to mention that not a soul greeted me when I walked in the first time, that I had to wait for the two employees conversation to end before being helped out, or that the other girl was just dancing to the music they had on. I'm never shopping at this location again. I rather go out of my way and drive to Northridge or even Topanga. If it wasn't bad enough that all the new staff ARE HORRIBLE they were out of stock on nearly everything. Your staff is loud and social butterflies with themselves. They ignored me and as well as the other customers in the store. When a man finally helped me it took him +10 minutes to get me a pair in my size. Why? Because he stood at the back shouting jokes to the other employee at the front for about 5 minutes. When he finally got my shoe size he continued joking to the other employee for a good chunk of time but didn't even give me the shoes. After all of that it was the wrong size and I had to educate him that I can't be a size 6 in women's when I asked for a 6.5 in men's.. then later said they don't have those in stock. So okay, let's look at other pairs- not in other stock. And then he walked away to go joke with his buddy in the front while I was talking to him about other pairs. read more

Went there a couple weeks back and had the strangest encounter with the cashier. On the receipt, it says his name is Juan. A smaller bearded fellow. Entering and buying shoes with every employee was cool, but upon checking out with this weirdo Juan, things were different. He was rude and argumentative. He asked who helped us and it was literally everybody cuz we were at every section of the store. He responded "I didn't help you" in this dickhead sarcastic tone. Left my friend his wife and I baffled. We tried to make small talk, and he was continually rude responding with no manners. Juan is weird as hell. Y'all should check on that weirdo. Will never shop at this vans again. Went in to check on a specific shoe and the guy working made me feel like I was totally putting him out. Like I was bothering him by needed help. I walked in, politely asked if they had any toy story toddler shoes in a size 8.5 or 9 left. He said "ummm doubt it." Then I asked he he could please check. He did, while acting like I was inconveniencing him. He came back out with a box in his hand and all he said was "we have this in a size 8." I said, well thank you but I needed the other size. He rudely threw the box down in front of me on the bench and walked away. I had to flag him back down, feeling so uncomfortable and asked him if he could inform me if they would be restocked. His answer was "look... We are doing inventory so they are not sending anything right now. I don't know. Who knows." And he walked away. I went to Glendale and got amazing service the next day and not only bought a pair of the toy story shoes, but also got 3 pair of vans for myself. The customer service at this store is the absolute worst. I've been here several times, and every time is the same. Every now and then you see a sales person walking around with an angry look on their face. They literally walk right by you, even though you're standing there holding a shoe looking for help. Then when you stop them and actually ask for help, they look completely put out. Every time I go in this store, it's the same experience with a different salesperson. It's bizarre. Yesterday, it got a little worse. I bought a pair of shoes for $60, and again the cashier looks completely put out, like I'm taking up her precious time. As I walk out, i see a sign that says "Spend $65 and get $25 off your next purchase." I spent a little over $65 total, so I walk back in and ask the same listless cashier, and she says, "Yeah, that's why i looked at your receipt, you have to spend $65 before tax". Well, nowhere on the sign does it say that, AND she could have said something WHILE she was ringing me up. I have no idea what is going on with this store, but Vans should be ashamed. read more
