My mom goes to Van's religiously for her pedicures and gel manicures. I tag along every one in awhile, but every time I do, I'm really pleased with the results. I live in Roseville, so it's not particularly convenient for me to come to Folsom for my nails, but after some disappointing experiences at local nail salons, I think I'm going to become a Van's regular. I get a standard mani / pedi (no artificial nails for me) and they do a great job at a great price. Mani's are $15, pedi's are $26. Their standard pedicure includes a nice scrub, a clay mask, and a hot stone massage. That's in additional to the regular massage - so you get two! Massage chairs are great and they are VERY clean. Another thing I love is that my manicures are always flawless here. I have problems with other salons never filing my nails straight, but that's never been an issue at Van's. I think they take more time with the customers than most salons like this. read more

Vans nail salon is the absolute best in Folsom! My nails always look fantastic and have a long lifespan before I need to go back to the salon. The only two employees are sisters and their dynamic is hilarious. Because it is just the two of them they are always busy and can almost never accept walk ins. Prepare to sit and wait and wait. At my last appt, I got there on time and still had to wait 20 min to be seen. Then they put me in a massage chair for another 20 min. In the middle of my gel manicure, Van, the owner, left to do a walk-in's eyebrows, meanwhile I sat in my chair waiting another 20 min! In total, it took over 2 1/2 hours just to get my nails/toes because they were taking anyone who walked in the door, neglecting those who are already there. Needless to say, I felt very unattended. My gel nails lasted 3 weeks (but I must always remind them to push back and cut the cuticle). The pedicure, however, done by Tina, (the owners sister) was done well and promptly. read more

Got a spa pedicure for $26....they spent about 45 minutes for me, gave a scrub, mudmask for feet, did a good job cleaning, and are really nice. I was pretty surprised at how nice it looked inside. Not dingy--and in an older strip mall. They painted it themselves, and did a great job. $1 off if you pay cash. The ladies are pretty sweet and did a good job. i'd recommend them. Minus one star for saying they'd' start at 1pm, and it took til almost 120....but they DID let me soak in my feet in the tub for about 45 minutes before starting the pedicure :) Eyebrows were $10...and she did a good job! Sorry didn't ask for names, but only one lady does eyebrows. Watched all 3 do nails, and they all seemed good. Really clean place, you can see them fill up new water, and put in cleaning treatment after you're done. You cannot beat the price for what you get! UPDATED REVIEW: So I've been a Vans Nails loyal customer since April 2012. I've recommended Van to many, many people, and other local businesses. However, I won't be recommending Vans Nails any longer. For the past 4-5 months that I've gone to Van's, Van herself has been rude, harsh, and extremely disrespectful to me. I went in today, because they apparently stopped answering their phones for the day (which I thought was very odd) and she didn't even greet me as I walked in the door, and she also slammed her appointment book on the table, and seemed annoyed that I wanted to make a pedicure appointment. Its a real shame, because she's a very talented esthetician, as is her sister Chan, and their other girl Tina. They are all very talented and know a lot about nails. But Van's attitude has completely tuned me off, and I am now in search of a new nail place. Its really unfortunate that a place so good has an owner who has such a horrible attitude. The last few times I've gone in there, I noticed Van being rude and short with other customers as well. Also "turning their phones off," because they are too busy seems extremely unprofessional to me. I hope that you have a better experience than I have had these past few months. At first, Van was fantastic, nice, professional, and sweet. But over a year later she has become rude, obnoxious, disrespectful, and seems extremely irritated by all of her customers. I hope to hear in the future that Van is treating her customers better. I really hope they get out of this funk they are in. The one thing I will say about the entire crew is they are extremely clean. If you are looking for cleanliness in a salon, go to Van's, but if you are expecting to be treated like a customer with business to give, go elsewhere. read more

Great quality and affordable service! In town from SF to visit my family, I was in desperate need of a manicure and have been spoiled by great $25 gel manis in the city. I ran across Vans on Yelp and decided to give them a whirl. So, sooo great. Tammy, my technician, was fantastic, and her her attention to detail is pretty incredible. She made sure my nails were *perfect* before I walked out of there. Vans probably has THE best selection of gel colors that I've seen (OPI, Shellac, Gelish, etc.) which made choosing a color a longer process than usual (Shellac's Hot Rod Red is amazing). They take card, too, which I still think is a bonus amongst nail salons. Plus, the $25 price point is just right! read more

Was totally excited to take my Mom here for her birthday based on the reviews I read, but was sorely disappointed they couldn't take us when we walked in. We tried to come on a sat afternoon without an appointment. We walked in to find it was not busy and they only had 2 workers there. One was tending to a customer and they were expecting 2 more people for their appointment. The people arrived for their appointment so we had to leave and find somewhere else or wait an hour to be seen. Who has a nail salon open on a Sat with only 2 workers there and they can't take walk-ins? Was a little skeptical at first, I had received a gift card here and came in and was told I needed to make an appointment, which was a bummer being that I'm generally pretty busy between work and baby. Anyway, finally scheduled and came in and it was awesome! have been back several times, and both sisters do an awesome job on gel manicures! the polish lasts like 4 weeks! always very clean, and never any problem booking an appt on the phone. the only problem i have is that when they try to take off the old polish they scrape it off with a metal tool. i am really worried they will damage my nails, so i just take off the old polish at home now, then i dont have to worry about it :) read more

FINALLY!!! It's taken me awhile but today I hit the jackpot! Went to "Van's'Nails" on Bidwell St. (across the street from the DMV) and had the BEST job done on my pink and white nails. CHAN was the nail technician that did my nails. She was very thorough, professional, personable, and her station was clean. (YAY!!!!!) I have never been totally satisfied with the results in the past from other salons in the Folsom area and I've tried about 13 different ones. OK! So I'm very picky, but now I do not have to search anymore for the best because I found exactly what I have been looking for in a nail salon. The price was right and the staff was friendly and all spoke English. Going back in about 3-4 weeks for a fill. Try "Chan" or "Van" at Van's Nails. You will be happy that you did. I checked this place out because of the good reviews on Yelp and I am so glad I did. Made my appointment as recommended also and that was a good idea because they were busy. They were a few minutes behind but I was brought to a chair and was able to soak my feet until they were ready for me. Nice clean salon. All the ladies are very nice. First off, the current photo for this business does not reflect it at all! The shop is beautifully painted and decorated, they have clearly tried to make it a tasteful and relaxing environment. I called to make an appointment for myself and several friends. There was a bit of a language barrier when I tried to schedule for "1 manicure and 4 pedicures" but eventually the communication got cleared up and the gal who was scheduling us was cheerful throughout. I was concerned that perhaps we didn't actually have an appointment because they didn't take my name before hanging up...but when we showed up the day of they were ready for us. The manicures and pedicures were both wonderful - perhaps not as luxurious as at a spa, but all in all just great. I was pleased to see that their staff cleaned and sanitized the foot baths right away. The ladies who worked with us were all very friendly and cheerful which made the whole thing that much better. Chan at Van's Nails gave me a pedicure and shellac manicure. She did a great job - took her time and was very friendly. They have a huge selection of colors - shellac and regular. The shop is clean and parking is easy - right out front. Unlike many other shops I've visited, they do not pack people into the shop with the "just wait a few minutes" line. This was by far the BEST place my mom, sister and I have been. The staff was friendly and talkative. They made a point to talk to you and get to know you instead of just talking to each other. They had brilliant attention to detail. My full set was the best one I have ever had (and I have had quite a few.) The ladies here know how to make you feel important and well taken care of. I get my gel manicure done every 2-3 weeks here and I will never go anywhere else even though I live in Sacramento. I always make an appointment with Chan because they are very busy, with an appointment I never have to wait. I have had manicures at various places in Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento and Chan's work is hands down the best. Her gel manicure lasts at least 2-3 weeks. She is a perfectionist and very gentle with my thin cuticles, which I appreciate. I highly recommend going to Chan for your gel manicure, it is so worth the money. I recommend taking cash, it is nice for small businesses because they don't have to pay the credit card charge fee. read more

This place is great. I go often and love getting the gel nails. I reccommend just walking in... when you make an appointment I have NEVER not waited less than 20 minutes. It's frustrating but beyond that they're so nice and do a great job.
