Very friendly staff, and loved my baked omelet (Popeye). Fresh tastings, and huge portion - unfortunately couldn't finish all of it.

Food was great!!!! Sourdough bread bowl was amazing. Gift shop was good!! Service was terrible. Took over 15 minutes for someone to even ask our drink order. Took over 20 minutes to get our food. bakery is closed; a bridgeman's is going in there. breakfast is good but lunch is poor. had the baked potato not warm at all--but my girlfriend had the wild rice garden burger and she really liked it--she said it was moist and not like the veggie burgers at the coop. The ice cream was great at the Bridgeman Ice Cream Shop. We had a great breakfast on 1/2/10. I had the oatmeal with cranberries with soy milk and a side pumpkin pancake. My wife had the wild rice oats and a side of french toast. All of our food was great and the coffee wasn't Dunn Brothers but it was better than Folgers. read more

Complete disappointment. We wanted to grab coffee & some baked goods to go, but apparently they're not a bakery. Coffee was mediocre. Stayed for breakfast, but they were no longer serving breakfast. I had the fish taco because the description sounded good, but it sucked. Fishy tasting deep fried fish with a little cabbage. No flavor other than fishy. My boyfriend had the wild rice soup & it was quite good. I'm continually surprised how people can maintain restaurant businesses when they're just doing a half assed job. read more

My daughter and her father went to eat lunch there today and were seated and given drinks. 50 minutes later they still had not been served or had drinks refilled. All customers around them had been served and checked on and new customers had been served and attended to. My family is Native American and even my young daughter recognized this as blatant racism. The food was fairly enjoyable. Service experience was sub-par and varied greatly. Accountability was terrible. It took 4 days to get a $2 refund for missing guacamole on a burger for a pickup order! On Thursday, I left a note with a frustrated server to have management give me a call the following day. Twice I was told I would receive I call (tomorrow [1], Sunday [3]). They are unaccountable. I had to call them both times, the day after. The first time, I spoke with managers who did not have the authority to issue the refund. I contacted the owner to describe my experience. He offered no apology and his explanations were very much excuses. read more

Had lunch for 4 here 1/2/12. Nice wood booths, antique bar area, old paneling - cuter inside than out. had soup and sandwhich special, veggie burger, and regular burger. All good. Reasonable prices for this area, which runs high. Recommend as a good lunch stop read more

Got the Scandinavian breakfast and it was amazing. Some of the best breakfast sausage I've had and the vanilla coffee is delicious too.

Good food and warm but I was was hoping for more. The cafe was cute and comfortable. It was busy but we didn't have to wait long which was a plus as we were just passing through town. The chicken wild rice soup was great, but the chicken was lacking, and all the food needed salt and pepper for more flavor. My husband had the pasty, he said the outer crust was good but the inner filling was dry and flavorless. Next time we come through town we will probably try somewhere else read more

Really well kept nice place. I just made a quick stop and got some soup and a latte to go. Hy hubby thought the clam chowder was really good, and if you like a hearty red chili, theirs is great. The latte was good too. I hope to actually have a sit down meal here another time. read more

Stopped for lunch after visiting the local light house - it looked like a good local joint. I was pleasantly surprised to find several vegetarian options for me and gluten-free options for my mom, all clearly marked.The kitchen was rather slow, so don't go if you are in a hurry. I had the black bean burger, which was good, and my Mom enjoyed her hamburger with a gluten-free bun. The service was good, though our server missed my order for a vanilla bean soda. read more

Came on a Sunday at 10:00 am & it was busy, but we were seated right away. Ordered 2 traditional breakfasts. Nothing exotic whatsoever. Waited more than an hour while we watched everyone else get their breakfast. Only to be told it would be another 10-20 minutes. With that news, we no longer could wait as we had a long trip ahead of us. So, I can't rate the food because I never successfully got any, but I guess we did get a couple of coffees and a latte for free. Left hungry and extremely disappointed. read more

I've been driving through Two Harbors for 20 years and have never stopped here to eat. Took an opportunity with a girlfriend to stop for breakfast on Thursday. The parking was full and there was a line out the door - generally a good indication of a restaurant worth a try. We put our name on the list, and were told it would be only a couple of minutes... The people finishing eating apparently wanted to linger over their yummy coffee since it dragged a bit. So the host offered us coffee while we waited. :-) My friend had cranberry wild rice pancakes with fabulous pork patty sausages, and I had Swedish pancakes with lingonberries. My plate was clean when I was done, and my friend just got filled up by the 2 plate-sized pancakes so couldn't quite finish. It took a bit for the food to arrive, but they were obviously busy. And the coffee was kept full the whole time, so no big deal. Lovely, quirky atmosphere and delicious breakfast. So when we realized that my friend had left her credit card there and had to stop on our way back home, doggone we had to eat where there again! This time the lunch menu. We were drawn to the same half sandwich (Cranberry club) and cup of soup (wild rice.) The sandwich was interesting and made with very fresh ingredients (maybe some of the fresh herbs that were being grown in the container garden on the front patio?). The wild rice soup featured the wild rice not the binder and the broth was cream and butter - not thickened with flour like a Byerly's version. We thought it showcased the wild rice more. In fact, we thought it did such a good job that we each ordered a second cup of soup. (Cut us some slack, we'd only had a bowl of oatmeal all day, had come in from canoing, and it was already 4:00. We had earned a second cup!) It was cozy, tasty, friendly, fair-priced and they kept my friend's credit card safe. I promise to not just drive by my next time through town. read more

If the food hadn't been good, this would've been two stars. When we arrived, there were several couples ahead of us waiting to be seated, even though there were multiple tables open. The staff were a bit short with us and did not seem to be in much of a hurry (more in a disorganized way than a small-town way). I had the pumpkin pancakes and that made me feel much happier. Over the years, a consistently high performer: Having travelled extensively in an earlier career, I compare this delightful establishment to my experiences in California's wine country of Napa/Somoma - offering upscale, unique creations sans the "upscale" pricing. A favorite is the Cranberry Club (smoked turkey, ham, bacon, cucumber, tomato, fresh spinach and house-made cranberry mayo on toasted cranberry wild rice bread), but the Grand Portage (wild rice, fresh spinach, mushrooms, green onions and Formaggio cheese) and Popeye (fresh spinach, bacon, tomatoes and smoked Gouda cheese) omelets are close "seconds"! For "starters", the Boarder Battle Cheese Curds (the closest rival to the Mouth Trap's famous Minnesota State Fair curds) and Tettegouche Tater Tot Nachos (crispy tots topped with pulled pork, melted cheese, black olives, house-made salsa, green onion and sour cream - made even more mouthwatering with the addition of their house-made guacamole) are unsurpassed! The attractive, comfortable ambiance and attentive staff never fail to accommodate our every need in a cheerful, welcoming manner. Before I begin I must say that the food that was served to me was delicious, I ordered the walleye and eggs. However this restaurant has the worst service I have ever experienced at a restaurant. There were four servers on the floor and about eight tables, should be no problem right? The servers were inattentive and doing anything but their jobs. It took them twenty minutes from when they asked for our drinks to when they asked for our food orders. It then took another 45 minutes for them to bring said food, they then burned the French toast of another person in my party. The waitress did comp the price of the French toast which is the only reason it got anything over one star. read more

Beware unwary travelers, this had to rank as one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. To start my wife asked for water multiple times until she finally had to get up and get it herself. We sat their over an hour waiting on food that showed up just short of luke warm, and about fast food quality. You'll pay tourist trap prices for a low end quality meal, that shows up cold after a long wait. read more

This place was a joke for dinner. Maybe the breakfast crowd likes it but for dinner it was the pits. Pork chops had no flavor whatsoever, the sweet potato mash was not good and the cauliflower was a complete waste.
