Stopped in a couple Friday's ago... a rare 40* February day, finally made my inaugural visit to their tap room! I only opted for a taster of Cranberry Lager. Light and refreshing. Parking was easy in their few spaces near just street parking. The tap room is spacious and bright. The service, of course friendly and knowledgeable. When I first heard of the name of Castle Danger Brewery I thought it sounded a lot like something you'd hear for the name of a 1980's video game. After checking out the area it's probably going off of the town that isn't too far away also called Castle Danger but I can't get the video game idea out of my head... growing up in the 80's I guess. The beer Steve and I had from Castle Danger was really good and we thought highly of it! We had the Lager Royale and purchased some cans to take home as well so we didn't have to stop with just one. We always stop here to fill up our reusable glass growler before we go camping "Up North" for the weekend. Hubby loves their selection of beer and I enjoy their pretty outdoor patio area. Several picnic tables can accommodate large groups easily. And they have free WiFi for the kids to load up on videos for the rainy days. Service is friendly and efficient. Fantastic choice of craft brews here. I really enjoyed the Lager Royale lager beer (4.5abv). The brewery doesn't have a kitchen, but had a food truck if you get hangry . While we were there there on a Saturday there was live music and plenty of outdoor picnic tables and inside seating too. I think Minnesota has a great microbrewery culture and great to see so many customers on a nice summer Sunday afternoon. If you sit up in the outdoor deck you can get a view of Lake Superior too! This is a great brewery in Two Harbors. We stopped in for beer after dinner nearby. I had the pale ale, a nice citrusy ale that hit the spot. They had live music while we were there. They don't serve food but had a food truck outside and the schedule for the food trucks is on their FB page. Also there is a a QR code for other food options at each table. There was also two corn hole sets to play if you might want. A great place to kick back and relax. read more

Been here a few times when in the area for vacation, most commonly in mid-October. The space is well designed, and the outside space that adds more room is fantastic - spacious and lots of seating. The beers here are solid, I don't love love any of them but all are perfectly fine, and it is fun to be in the space with family and enjoying a brew. One thing - I wish more breweries offered a NA option other than sodas or root beer - specifically an NA beer. Have a relative in recovery who likes to attend as well, and enjoys NA beer. Relegating them to a pop is great, IMHO. This is not a situation that is not unique to Castle Danger, but an area where I wish breweries would do more for folks who want a brew but not the ABV. What a great spot for a beer. They have music on friday and Saturday nights. The lime and salt lager and the spiced two harbors lager were personal favorites. No sours, but if you're able to live with corona's prettier older sister you will be alright. There's lots of patio space, a wrap around deck with heat lamps, bags, board games and a view of the water. I've had their beer at bars before but I would definitely recommend this spot. I am visiting from out of town and loved this brewery. It was super spacious inside and out. I was able to sample beers and enjoyed the lager royale. Good prices for good beer. You pay as you go, no tabs. First I've seen like that. You bus your own tables which I'm fine with especially if it helps keep cost down. The merch was more affordable than other breweries I've been to. I loved the shirts and hats but only got a sticker. The service was friendly and great. read more

If your going in the summer, Definitely try the Raspberry Honey! It was 1000/10! They got some good swag too! Finally reached Mecca for my husband....right here in Two Harbors, Minnesota. He has loved every Castle Danger brew he's tried (CD Cream Ale is still #1 but the George Hunter Stout on Nitro is close). Live music , local events, specials are offered here. Stopped here on our way home from Lutsen. It was recommended as a must stop and we are glad we did. It was a Friday mid afternoon and there were more people there than I was expecting, mostly sitting outside as it was a beautiful afternoon. I like that they have a small pour, knowing a large beer would have given me the sleepies for the rest of the drive home. I love dark beer and opted for a George Hunter Stout Nitro. Creamy, cold and luxurious taste. Husband got a flight of lighter beers, #2,3,4 and 7. North Shore Lager and Summer Crush (2 and 7) won the contest. Staff was friendly. We really wanted a snack but except for packaged pretzels and tortilla chips, food is bring-your-own and we hadn't stopped anywhere before hand. It was fun sitting on the patio watching the families and dogs enjoy the day. Lots of people eating lunch they brought in. Through the trees you could see Lake Superior. So glad we stopped. Two Harbors seems like such a cute town too. Would loved to have had more time to explore. read more

We liked it! We'd tried the beer previously and enjoyed it. While in Two Harbors, we decided to check out the taproom. We grabbed lunch to go from a nearby restaurant and brought the food into the tap room during our reserved time block. The entry line is divided. Right side for walk-ins and left side for reservations. Worked out well. Upon entry, we were checked in and handed our reservation card for table 3. We then were directed to the main bar for beer ordering. We ordered and paid for our beers and took seats at our table. We spread out our lunch and enjoyed it with our Castle Danger brews. Stopped by here to celebrate a friend's birthday and we did not expect it to be as busy as it was!!! The brewery was PACKED, but luckily they do have lots of seating inside and out so we still found a table next to a campfire, which was nice. I got the raspberry beer, which wasn't too bad but I wish they had a sour of some kind to appeal to us folks who don't loveee beers. Beers on tap have always been good, I haven't ever had a beer here I didn't like. Plus the name is kick ass, I would live in a town called Castle Danger, how is this only a township and not a full blown metropolis?! We finally got to try Castle Danger in person after having the original cream ale in various places in the Twin Cities (including having a 1/3 keg of it at our wedding!). The brewery is pretty spacious with a lot of tables both inside and outside. They have a nice variety of rotating beers on tap and everything is pretty cheap - $5-6 for a pint or $12 for a tasting of 4 beers. I enjoyed the original castle cream ale of course, more than the strawberry or orange flavored ones. The George Hunter stout nitro was also quite good, very rich and smooth. The Munich and Coolidge lagers were a bit blander but still light/refreshing. They don't serve food other than popcorn/pretzels bags available for purchase, but they let you bring in food from other restaurants which is nice. The beer was great with some cheese curds/fries from Culver's :). I will definitely be back next time I'm in Two Harbors! read more

An excellent stop if you're on your way up or down the North Shore. Plenty of outdoor seating for COVID-19 purposes, thoughtful staff, and they do everything they can to make you feel welcome despite the times in which we're living. It's a taproom, so no food beyond some pre-packed pretzels and stuff, but order in or do like everyone else we saw and BYO picnic. They sometimes have a Love Creamery ice cream cart too (closed when we were there, to our kids' consternation). I would say one less star because the beer is pretty basic styles. None of them are bad; the IPA, stout, and raspberry wheat were all lovely examples squarely in the middle of their category. But none was an "OMG I am buying five growlers because this is going out of style" kind of beverage. COVID-19 REVIEW: [SERVICE/PROTOCOLS]: Once you enter the brewery there is a plastic divider between you and the staff (you can easily hold your ID up so no need for any contact). You are asked how long you plan to stay, which is then written down on a plastic card (this helps them monitor capacity). Plastic cards are left on the table to be cleaned when each party leaves. You then wait until you are called by the bartender to go up and order, get your beer, and then seat yourself. There are options for both indoor and outdoor dining in. Everything is spaced out and super clean. [FOOD/DRINK]: Order yourself some pizza from Do North and they will deliver here. We also got their dill pickle pretzels for snacking while we waited which paired well with our beers. Do not leave here without trying their cream ale. You will be committing a huge injustice to yourself if you did not get this beer. The cream ale is super smooth and tastes even better fresh from the tap. This was most definitely worth the stop on the way home after road trippin' up North. read more

I visited Castle Danger Brewery on a Saturday afternoon with 6 of my friends. There was lots of street parking behind the brewery and we were able to find a spot to park there. We were able to find high top seating easily which was great given the size of our group. We all went up to the counter to order. They had about 10 beers to choose from, some of different sizes. They had games available and we were able to play games while we sipped our drinks. They allow you to bring outdoor food into the brewery to eat. We ordered pizza and it was great that we could eat it at the brewery. It was really neat how hoppy this entire brewery smelt from all of the brewing going on. I typically enjoy a light, fruity beer and I did not find that here. However, everyone in my group seemed to really enjoy their beverages. This is a nice, laid back brewery and being able to bring your own food was perfect for our large group. read more

Nice place and prices are exactly as they should be. So many time breweries charge to much for their beer and you feel kinda ripped off by the time you leave. Even the snacks were priced good and the other perk was they didn't hesitate to let you have a few samples. Only suggestion would be maybe offer a couple guest taps or wine for those that are tagging along and aren't avid beer drinkers. To me their beers are hit or miss. A few too ones but also a lot that fall short. All and all doesn't leave me with a draw to want to go back. Everything was good but just kind of felt kind of like a bar version of Cracker Barrel. I give this brewery five stars because I love modern, fairly trendy breweries in quaint little towns. Especially those that sit on frigid Lake Superior and I need a place to come warm up! I also give it five stars because I'm here on a Monday afternoon so it's calm, quiet and chill. 80s jams are playing, 2 bartenders serving the handful of us and pretty good taps to choose from. There's no kitchen but there's snacks such as pretzels, and chips and salsa that you can purchase. You can also bring your own food.
