Castle Danger Brewery is a must stop if you're in Two Harbors. They sell beer and a few nonalcoholic drinks, no food but you're allowed to bring your own food/takeout, or even order pizza there. One of our favorite things was to get takeout at different types of restaurants each night to the brewery and sit on one of their outside tables with a beer & enjoy their live music (until about 8pm). We tried a dark stout beer, a hazy IPA, and a raspberry lager. The IPA was very hoppy and had a nice citrus overtone. The rest of the group were not big beer people but we tasted the raspberry (almost too flowery) and the stout beer "checked all the marks for stout". read more

Solid brewery with lots of awesome beers!! We had four of them-two IPAs, one red ale and a dark beer. I didn't take a picture of the beer list and I can't remember the name of it now. We liked them all! One IPA more than the other one and all still really good. We stayed outside by the fire pit and that was nice. Can't keep open a tab which is kind of weird in my opinion and I guess they have their reasons. Kat is now the head brewer which is awesome! In Nutshell: -Castle Danger Brewery is a small town brewery that's nestled down a sleepy road. -You'll easily spot it w/ their sign & grain holder. -Dogs are allowed only outside. -Inside you might find a band entertaining people or even helping the pizza delivery person find a customer. -The bar is very big & I like the fact that you can only order from each end of the bar & not when you are sitting on the chairs (this is a pretty smart idea so you create two lines vs. people trying to crowd the entire bar). -Go outside & enjoy the beautiful patios & grassy area, while you sip on your Ode IPA while watching the sunset. I think the first time I went to the brewery here things were still being built out. Castle Danger handled COVID protocols better than many in 2020, and have made updates and enhancements to their taproom into 2021. This is a great brewery along the North Shore, and I LOVE coming here each year. The beer in the summer is my favorite; the Raspberry Wheat is dangerously drinkable. The patio is beautiful to hang out on, and they updated their bathroom sink area in the ladies room too. I wish they had food trucks more often or during the week (they didn't during our stay), however the local food options are more than satisfactory to bring in! This is a must stop. Nice wrap around porch overlooking the lake that's pet friendly. Lots of picnic tables with the sun beating down on you. Stopped here for beers after a long day of hiking. Don't expect to be greeted when you walk in. You just go to the bar, order what you want, then find a place to sit. They had board games available which was a bonus. A food truck was parked in front with taco type stuff. I saw a group of people that brought Culvers. I drooled over it. The tables outside were not cleared very often. They just kept stacking up with empty glasses so you just sit down at a dirty table if it's open. I tried a flight and sadly was not excited about any of the four beers I tried. Good place to sit with a nice view, but I won't be back anytime soon. read more

Checked out this place while in Duluth over the summer. Located about 40 minutes from Canal Park it is well worth the drive. They have plenty of space inside to hang out but the best part is outside where they have a HUGE deck where they allow dogs to join you. There is a grassy area that has bags. Like other breweries: you can bring in your own food or grab some flavored pretzels that they have for sale. I thought it was a nice touch that upon entering there are menus that you can grab to read through while in line. And you can bet there will be a line. I am a shorter gal and can find it frustrating to try to read the board while waiting in line. Good job, Castle Danger! They have board games, there will be kids and canines. Everything that you love (canines) and hate (kids) about the average brewery. The husband tried out a flight and I had some sort of sour fruity concoction. The names fail me now but know that we both agreed they were all worth it. Check them out and play a game of Connect Four for me! read more

I wanted so badly to love this experience, but I just couldn't. I've been drinking Castle Danger cream ale in bars for ages and had high hopes for our visit. We signed up for the tour and were pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing. Basic facts, this machine does this, one sample, any questions? We shared both the year round and seasonal samplers and sadly, at least half of them were disappointing. It seems like they aren't taking their time and experimenting with recipes before putting out big batches of pretty subpar beer. The strong ale and summer ales were one sip and done. 2 stars for a nicely done taproom and patio. read more

Went on the evening of the 4th and it was so nice that they are taking COVID seriously. Large spacing, all outside seating, mask to go inside or order beer, even one-way traffic direction. Also the beer was awesome. Would've like to see a little more variety like a sour, but maybe a thats what makes them so good. They stick to their strengths and flagships. Went here over labor day weekend and the adjustments they've made due to COVID are great! They have reservations and walk ups available and you wait, social distance style, before entering the building and ordering beer. They aren't doing flights but have pints of all your favs both seasonal and the classics. I haven't been here since they redid the backyard patio area but it's perfect for social distancing. Each table has a number and that where you sit. They have durations from 1-2 hours so they can monitor the number of folks on the patio or inside at any given time. The beer is delicious as always and the it's a must do if you're in the Two Harbors area. read more

It's THE place to stop and grab a beer along the North Shore! After we finished hiking in the area, we stumbled across this brewery, and totally digged the vibe! With woodsy decor, a spacious area, and a wrap around deck with scenic views of two harbors, this place is legit! The taproom inside is huge! Plenty of tables inside and out. We decided to take a seat up at the bar, and were instantly greeted and given a list of local brews. I decided to try the George Hunter Stout, while my hubs went with one of the popular brews of the area, the Cream Ale. Both delish! They don't have a food menu, but you can bring in eats or order delivery from nearby restaurants. There was even a food truck parked down by the harbor. It seems like a chill and local brewery, that also attracts those who may just be visiting the north for a few days! read more

We stopped here on our way to split Rock lighthouse. I loved the vibe here! It was relaxed and friendly! This place definitely had a strong hoppy smell to it as you walked in. They had a lot of nice beer options, as well as merchandise, snacks for purchase (all local brands) and craft soda. We ended up buying a glass, a craft soda for me, and a beer for my husband. Cute little brewery in what seems to be a slow paced town. I'm used to West Coast IPAs and the IPAs here didn't quite live up to my standard. The cream ale which seems to be the most popular here, was good and I would go for that again. Everyone seemed really pleased with the cream ale in our group! I was really let down by the pizza which was greasy, doughy and overall medicore. It also seemed every slice I had was unbearably salty, perhaps so you will drink more beer. I would come for the beer, but perhaps pass on the food. read more

Originally from Indy and living in MSP area now. Up north in Duluth for the holiday weekend and visited Two Harbors after hiking this morning. Came here today, July 4th, and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to make a reservation for early this afternoon! The summer blonde is delicious, and the American lager (forgot the name) is also a great beer. The environment is a quiet space to relax and read a book. As for NA availability, no NA beer but the sodas are excellent! Definitely worth a stop on your trip if you're in the area! read more

Local breweries are the way to go!! Totally worth the drive to come up and try a flight while enjoying the lovely scenery on the patio. They allow for outside food in the patio and are dog patio friendly. They have plenty of street parking but the only issue is if you do have a dog with you, you'll have to walk around to the back to get access to the patio. Overall, their cream ale is definitely better on tap than can and can't imagine having it any other way. They also offer two growler sizes for some chump change and I saw they were prepackaged and already refrigerated and ready to go, which makes it a poor excuse not to take one back home. read more

I had to try out their new tasting room on a recent visit to Duluth. The inside is nice and open, with lots of bar space, and a nice outdoor seating area (with a view of train tracks). The beers are great and can be had in a mix and match flight of 4. As others have noted, the only food they have is a grocery size bag of chips and salsa. They do get food trucks, and they post the times they will be there on the chalkboard. I was there on a Saturday afternoon, no food truck - the board said it would be there only in the evening. So, while they do allow you to bring in outside food, you probably don't want to go here for lunch....just for beer tasting. read more

Absolutely my favorite brewery hands down. The ambiance is perfect- so much that my sister had her grooms dinner here when they don't even serve food! It is laid back and there are chips and salsa you can purchase for a snack while you try the different items on tap. They have board games and a delightful cream ale. I just wanted to post a mini update. Since our time there nearly a year ago, a few things have changed. The patio is bigger! There are more beers! While the Cream Ale is still strong, I may have been won over by Summer Crush and and 17-7 (I think it's called) Pale Ale, mmm it's quite dank! Minnesota representatives and the governor should do right by these businesses it's a shame you cannot get a growler to go. How do they expect breweries to survive. I've come here mutliple times, all after long hikes. The beer is refreshing and the ambiance is very chill. There are board games available, bags/corn hole, and often times the patio is full of pups.
