Yum! Great little bistro lunch stop on our way back from up north. Nice service, good menu variety, they offer coffee as well but we got lunch only. My husband got the smoked turkey dill sandwich. This was the freshest meal I had on the north shore! loved the summer Thai peanut salad bowl. If the broccoli were blanched, that would have just kicked this dish up to the best salad bowl ever. The banh mi sandwich was made with ham when we ordered it and not with pork burnt ends as listed, but still tasty. Pretty disappointed with the mer-mosa. Granted its cheaper than a lot of other mimosas, it was served in a large wine glass and seemed like there wasn't more than 4 sips of mimosa in there. We stopped in for a cold beer at Castle Danger brewery across the street and sat outside with our dog. We were famished after a long day of hiking and needed more than "snacks". Not many places in the area cater to people with dogs. I called Madeira Bistro and ordered the Strawberry jack sandwich and the Bahn mi bowl To-Go. I picked up my order in 15 minutes and came back to sit on the picnic benches outside so we could be with our K-9. This was by far the BEST meal I've had on the north shore!!!!!! Everything was so fresh and flavorful. The strawberry-jalapeño vinaigrette married so nicely with the roasted turkey and red onion on ciabatta bread. Found this cute little place on Yelp. Super fun vibe inside. A lot of local decorations and touches. The menu has a lot of original sandwich choices. I had the Banh Mi and it was delicious. Saw a bunch of bowls go by and they looked amazing too. The wait was short, the service friendly, and overall the place is super comfortable. Amazing sandwiches! I had the Hiker and it was so delicious. There was a wait after we ordered, so you might want to ask that before you order. Everyone that was with us enjoyed their sandwiches too. None of the adjectives one can use easily anything north of the twin cities. We got the beer next door but ate here. Good choice it was! Everything (I mean everything) seems freshly made. It took some 10 min for food to show up but if it dint it would've had to be frozen! Even the bread was luscious! This is a true hidden gem, located just a few blocks off Highway 61 in the small downtown area of Two Harbors. My wife and I stopped here for lunch. She ordered a curry bowl, which arrived as a beautiful plate of fresh veggies, quinoa, and grilled chicken with a great-tasting sauce (automatically served on the side). I ordered the roast beef sandwich, which came with a housemade horseradish sauce, and a side of the potato salad, which was fresh-made, crisp, and perfectly seasoned. They have a decent selection of local beer (canned), wine, and several non-alcoholic fresh-brewed beverages. The restaurant itself is small, but located in an older restored building and is simply but comfortably furnished. Staff were very friendly. Easily the best meal we had out during out week-long stay on the north shore. Highly recommended! read more
