Omg this place was SO GOOD. I will dream about these dumplings. The pan-fried chive and pork dumplings had a delicious filling. They had the perfect amount of dumpling dough. We had to order more because they were soooo good!! The chicken and shrimp wontons were amazing and a stand out dish for me. They were spicy and so delicious. Just perfect. I wasn't a big fan of the beef pancake sandwich, but that's just me. The pancake was yummy. I will say, my friend who is more of an Asian food connoisseur than I am said the dumplings were only a 4 out of 5. But they're the best dumplings I've had! Service was super fast and efficient. Anyone who knows me knows I love trying new places especially anywhere in my two favorite neighborhoods, Williamsburg and Greenpoint. Today I found myself in Williamsburg to run some errands and catch a bite. I wanted Asian street food, dumplings, steamed buns, etc. I reviewed Vanessa quickly on website and decided I would give it a try since it is located on Bedford Avenue. I entered in and was greeted by the friendly cashier and ordered boiled pork and chive dumplings and veggie bun. I then was given a number and waited @10 minutes. I found a table and the first thing I feel is the stickiness of the table. Uh oh.. folks it's going to be a bumpy review. Hold onnnnnnn My number is called and I pick it up from the counter. The tray my food was served on is sticky. The veggie bun looked good on the outside but one bite and the vegetables tasted like algae.. seriously.. seaweed. There was no sauce to accompany it but the bottled sauces Asian restaurants use: hot sauce or sriracha and soy sauce. I grabbed the soy sauce and drizzled it on bun, inside bun and then all over bun.. healthy turned to salty. The mini size dumplings were in a tin foil little pan and weren't drained as well as they could be. The pork and chive combination didn't for some reason mesh well just lacked any pizzazz although it was juicy. The interior is blond wood tables (sticky) and not much else. Seriously, cleanliness should be the numero uno priority of every establishment. I really don't enjoy posting two star reviews however, in this case, it's how the dumpling crumbles... Been to the one in LES and was excited that one was also located in Williamsburg. I did quite a few online orders with this place and all were amazing and fresh quality at an affordable price. Prices are definitely a lot more affordable compared to other Asian eats when it comes to dumplings, sandwiches, and noodles. I always order the pork chop noodles and the soup broth has balanced seasoning and they give a lot of broth instead of noodles here. Noodles are pretty soft and break easy when you bite it with your teeth. The chicken pancake sandwich in my opinion is a bit dry when you bite the chicken. The chicken is shredded pieces of chicken breast and barely any fat or seasoning to go with it. I like the cilantro part adding that extra flavor and the sesame pancake when you bite into it, you can seriously taste the sesame part. read more

Girl working front Monday around 1:30 laughably rude. After tipping 3 dollars to the cashier/ place that packs to go regardless to avoid dishes, went back to get beverages. She did not inform me of those beverages when where ready and did not recieve usual automated message that came with other order, we where the only people there too I asked politely if they had them, she got weird and said yeah I've been calling you for 20 minutes. Which was a lie, again only people eating there, we where in the back, she saw me order it, etc I made it known that felt weird she allowed our 7 dollar ice bobas to melt and be completely watered down, and she got mad and said "I didn't tip anyway" just because didnt do another tip for the beverages despite them giving me all food to go/her literally doing no service at all Just absolutely classless, I'll go back souly to not tip frankly. We went in to try their vegan dan dan noodles and it did not disappoint. The portions were decent. Two of us shared it. The noodles were thick and chewy, just the way I like it. The dan dan sauce was very good. I rolled each bite in a good portion of the sauce and slurped it down. Dishes are served in take out containers though. read more

I've been to the East Village location and was curious about this one opened in Williamsburg. Love how spacious this location is. And my order came really quickly. My first choice will always be fried dumplings because only food venues has the kitchen equipment to make things crispy and savory altogether, like their dumplings here. This place does its best to make dumplings inexpensive despite the expensive Williamsburg rental prices. I wasn't looking for a Michelin star dumpling or a big gastronomical meal, just simple snacking where I didn't have to shovel out $20+ for a meal. This place did the trick. Be prepared to bring cash if you're spending under $10 to eat because they don't take credit cards here at that range. And my total did come short at their minimum. The skin was too thick for my liking but the pork had a good ratio of meat and fat along with a good crunch from the cabbage. It was flavorful! The soup was light and clean with a decent amount of garnish and bokchoy, which was perfect for a rainy and cold day. When I heard this place was opening up a second location I knew I had to check it out. I took my bike and rode it for the first time up to Williamsburg. I didn't notice how popular Vanessa's Dumpling House got over the years. I locked my bike and went inside. The menu was a bit limited because of obvious reasons but there was a good amount of items to choose from. I decided on just the chicken with chives pan fried dumplings and the veggie sesame pancake sandwich. It only took about 5 minutes for it to be done. At first glance the dumplings were a different shade of dumpling color. They almost seemed golden brown. They were crispy at the bottom from sitting on the pan but soft all around. I noticed there were no cracks in the skin which is very important! Keeping all the juices in retains it's flavors and moistness. Needless to say I ate all these up in 2 minutes. The pancake sandwich was just as good. It was sort of like a thicker scallion pancake. It provided a good shell for the fillings. Overall I'm very happy on this visit. We have been going to the Eldridge Chinatown location for 20 years! It has always been a favorite go to spot. Everything is always so tasty, juicy and cheap! This Williamsburg location will only be a go to spot if we must have dumplings. We've been going since this location opened up, but the prices are getting so high! The Union Square location is unfortunately closed, but that's where we would grab a salmon sesame pancake - our favorite! ... What's my issue: My issue are the prices here, but yes, the pandemic has changed the world and supply chain all around. Will the prices ever decrease, I don't think so, just like everything else. ... Delicious dumplings and more! Vanessa's is an institution when it comes to dumplings in New York and tonight it didn't disappoint. We had a variety of dumplings, including boiled and fried. We opted for the Assortment of Boiled Dumplings ($6.68), which comes with two shrimp, two pork, two chicken and two vegetables. We also had one order of the Pork and Chive Fried Dumplings ($5.48) and one of the Chicken and Basil ($6.28). All dumplings came out within 10/15 minutes and were delicious. The server brought our order outside where there are 5 outdoor tables (4 small and 1 slightly bigger). The server also brought us a delicious dipping sauce (similar to soy sauce) and a spicier sauce. In terms of ranking the dumplings, I personally loved the Chicken and Basil ones the most, followed by the Pork and Chive and Shrimp; I would have to rank the vegetables option as my least favorite. We liked the Chicken and Basil dumplings so much that we decided to take two orders of 25 frozen dumplings ($14) home with us. Finally, we also decided to try their Scallion Pancakes Sandwich stuffed with pork ($5.88), which was to die for and I would highly recommend. When we moved to the neighborhood 3 years ago, the first thing I did was take a gander on Yelp and google to find what would be my go-to, comfort food, take out restaurants. As you do. When I found Vanessa's dumpling house, I couldn't believe my eyes! This is only my favorite dumpling spot in all of New York. I would hike all the way to the Chinatown location, no matter where I lived in the city for the dumplings and scallion pancakes. I see all you Joe's Shanghai fans out there rolling your eyes, but yes, even before soup dumplings were all the rage, there was the humble, uncomplicated, dumplings at Vanessa's that cost about $3 for an order of 8 chicken dumplings. It was simple and effective, it never failed to hit the spot for me. Fast forward to the 2020s and Vanessa's has come a long way. They now offer a scallion cilantro chili oil-esque spicy sauce as an add on to their order of dumplings which now costs $6 instead of $3. Eh, what can you do, inflation is a bitch. I would pay $10 for this if they went that high. But most importantly, I don't have to hike to Chinatown for my dumpling fix anymore! I couldn't be happier to live within their delivery radius. Their menu has also expanded, I recently tried their shrimp and chicken wonton soup and for $4, it was a home run for me. I only came to this location because I had a few errands in the neighborhood. I've been a patron of this restaurant since the days of the tiny little shop on Eldridge. I came in and was able to order right away and was quickly given my order. Only difference is the prices advertised on line for this location are significantly cheaper than what they are in person. Had I known I would be spending $6 more from my regular order I would have gone to Manhattan 7 minutes over the bridge. The atmosphere here is swankier of course because it's Williamsburg, they serve wine beer and a few other things to make it more hospitable to an in person dining experience. But but let it be known you will pay the premium for Williamsburg. Next time I'll stick to going to Chinatown in Manhattan. read more

Plenty of completed bags we're waiting to be called and they were very inattentive. Many food delivery workers were just waiting on this person as well. The exchange we witnessed was a customer asking what kinds of smoothies they have and the worker replied back " a lot". Proceeds to make the smoothie, but instead of following through with pouring the liquid into the cup, they were back on their phone as the customer was patiently waiting right in front for it. First off, the prices are great, especially in this area, where you'll pay like $10 for one slice of pizza lol. We ordered the pan fried dumplings: Pork and Chive: Super juicy and filling in every bite. You can tell the meat was seasoned first and the chives just add that extra touch. This combo works really well together and a great option for those who eat meat. Veggie with chili oil: This was my favourite! The chili + sesame oil is just *chefs kiss!* I'm a big meat eater, yet the veggies won a point in my book. Every bite is just full of so much flavor and as juicy as the meat ones. Kimchi: This is not a standard / original Korean kimchi. It's just regular cabbage which tasted pickled. It's not napa cabbage that's been fermented, so don't expect the real thing. Wanted something quick and easy before the movies and this was the perfect option. Weren't my absolute number #1 fave dumpling moment but it def did the job, solid and no frills. They have many other things but I only tried the dumplings. You can get them either boiled or fried (they say the boiling can take 12-15 mins, but ours came out sooner than that!); I got them boiled. I tried the pork ones, and tried my friend's chicken one and both were delicious!
