This is not actually a cafe and there are no seats for dining. Rather, this is a wholesale store that sells items in bulk. I purchased the pork, cabbage, and mushroom dumplings and was very pleased. They taste like your standard dumplings but for a better price. :) I also bought the scallion pancakes. They were HUGE and so delicious but a bit too oily for my liking. No, it's not a Cafe. You can't get anything warm from here. No coffee. No almond tea. No fried dumplings. BUT! You can get 30 frozen pork and chive dumplings for $8.10 (yes, she included the tax). I took these babies to work and boiled them, and man they were GREAT! Really juicy inside, almost like a soup dumpling, which I was really surprised about. Very filling - I ate 12 in one sitting; don't judge. I even told the woman behind the counter happy lunar new year - and she was tickled pink! She was adorable, and I wanted to bring her home. I get these dumplings (pork leek shrimp is my favorite) from my local chinese grocery store in Madison Heights, MI. I grew up in NYC so I'm very grateful to find them. They're very good frozen dumplings. The only odd but not surprising thing is that is contains 0 nutritional info, lol. How have I lived a block away from this place for two years and never heard about it??? Probably because, like other reviewers have noted, it's not technically a "restaurant," so it doesn't show up when I Yelp "Restaurants" in my area. More accurately, it's a place to buy frozen handmade dumplings in bulk. The facilities looked impeccably clean, and in fact, had a paper from the health department stuck to the door, which said they'd found zero infractions during a recent visit. I got a bag of 25 leek-pork-shrimp dumplings for $8. Rather than being mean or rushed, the woman behind the counter told me to wait "two minutes," then walked downstairs, grabbed my bag of dumplings, and gave me instructions on how to cook them: boil for 8 minutes. The closest thing I have to a criticism is that 8 minutes was maybe a minute or so too long, and the filling got a bit tough. I'll try 7 minutes next time and see how they compare to my go-to dumpling place in Chinatown, Shu Jiao Fu Zhou. read more

You walk in. It looks like the kitchen of a bakery. I interrupt her conversation with another gentleman, over what appears to be an invoice. "Yes?" she says to me. "Hi, two small bags of chive dumplings, please." Pause. (Mysterious pause.) She walks to the freezer, and brings me two bags of pork dumplings. Maybe she knows something I don't know? This review is for Fan #94 It feels like a factory in here. I think I'm intruding. The door to the prep area doesn't seem to exist, and once I start toeing the seemingly imaginary line between employee and customer space, I'm itching the need to start walking around their white dusted floor. I want to operate their giant mixer or start tossing some 40 lb bags of flour. This bare-bones dumpling shop has been calling me for a year. Riding past, I've spotted some classic tells of real food, or at the very least, adventure. It's east of Bushwick ave which becomes more and more industrial as you go further down. Another tell is that I have no idea why anyone would walk in. It almost seems preposterous because it is so out of the way. I was thinking that it might be a secondary kitchen to a larger Manhattan restaurant, but my google search for the name on the van parked outside only gives me cosmetics & perfume retail. Inside on the counter, there is an interesting sheet of paper, aka a menu, with, among other things, 8 varieties of dumplings, gourmet tea, pork cabbage bun and a lunch combo with it's unspecified 3 items over rice. It's hard to imagine stopping their back room assembly line in order for them to make House Special #4, Minced Pork with Bean Paste over Noodles. I get the feeling that their hot menu is just a solution to a legal dilemma. The frozen foods are surprisingly cheap in comparison to the hot ones. It was enticing. Why shouldn't I get 30 froze for the price of 12 hot? I only live 20 minutes away, I can see my steamer now... My Pan Fried Dumplings were deep fried too much, but still had a glimmer of goodness in their thick shells and moist insides. If nothing else, the dumplings are made fresh. Dumplings are tasty, but I'm not in love with this dumpling place, even though they are inexpensive, there is something missing. The ingredients seem fresh, the steamed vegetable buns are killer, but the dumplings all have shrimp in them, even the "vegetarian" one. Booooo. The wrapping seemed a bit watery as well. They also aren't open for dinner, which I think is odd. I think they must supply a lot of restaurants with dumplings, there is no way they are basing their income off 5 dollar sparse lunch customers. read more

Although Dumpling Cafe would be more aptly named Dumpling Factory, I'll give you my recommendation to check out this little hole-in-the-wall at least once. Don't go out of your way or anything, but if you are in the area, this tiny spot will likely surprise you with their tasty dumplings, appetizers and noodles. Beware, when they say "fried" dumplings, they really do mean FRIED. As in, deep fried. I was expecting more of a "pan-seared" kinda fried, and was slightly disappointed. Steamed dumplings are probably the way to go here. The scallion pancake is on point. The steamed buns are good. I was praying that they'd be Taiwanese "bao" style, but instead more of the Cantonese (enclosed fluffy oversized dumpling) variety. And again, let me reiterate, this is NOT a cafe. THIS IS NOT A RESTAURANT!, it's NOT EVEN a casual sit down place. there are no Freakin chairs! this place is a dumpling factory, w a counter. a menu of their frozen offerings was on the counter. there was no indication that they served cooked food, & no one was @ the counter. Don't judge a book by it's cover - in this case, some of the signs in the window are upside down and it looks more like a dumplings factory at first glance. Another reviewer speculated that this dumpling house probably supplies many other restaurants, which is probably true. For under $10 1 got three kinds of dumplings ( vegetable, chicken, and pork). All were excellent. I couldn't help but notice they had bags of 30 frozen dumplings for around $6 - a great deal if they come out as good as the ones we had for lunch. Find a local park bench and share these dumplings for lunch. Will be back for a bag of frozen to go, and probably walk out with an order of steamed vegetable, too. read more

Its definitely got that dumpling factory vibe with little asian ladies yelling at little hispanic men who are stretching dough like its their job. Well it prob is their job... But the end result is some damn good dumplings. The veggie dumplings are good, wontons are jiggly soft, and the spicy soup is filling though bulliony. DumpCafe shines in the frozen dumpling take out category with something like a million dumplings for $10. Its bare bones "noodle processing plant feel", no seating, most dishes under 4$, and a mystery lunch special I spioed some homeless hipster ordering. read more

I usually buy my frozen dumplings from prosperity dumplings but since that place is gone, I was wondering where else I can go to get some frozen dumplings. I was about to stop by Vanessa's dumplings in Williamsburg but I realized they raised the prices for that location! I ain't settling for Hipster prices and I Didn't feel like going all the way to Chinatown so I yelped this place. It's closer to my apt and the prices for the 30 pork and veggie dumplings is $1 cheaper- so that's a great incentive. I went in and bought the bag and went home to cook it. I was starving and man it really hit the spot. They're a lot smaller than Vanessa's and Prosperity which is kinda a bummer but they're tastier and feels less heavier in your belly. The skin is thinner too so that's better for boiling but I like mine pan-fried. I would go back and get more! read more

OMG......YUM!!! These were the best dumplings I have EVER had! I ordered the steamed chicken dumplings. You get 7 dumplings for $4.25... not bad! You can only get dumplings to go, as it appeared to be a "dumpling factory." You can buy frozen dumplings in large quantities for what looked like very reasonable prices. I made it in here after work before they were closing, but it was too late to get cooked dumplings. I ended up with a bag of frozen pork and chive dumplings. Delicious and reminded me of the ones my mom makes. The location is where they make the dumplings, but they also cook them fresh for you. Will have to come back one day and have them cooked for me. The vegetable dumplings are yummy. They weren't over cooked like some people said, mine were fried perfectly. The service however wasn't very good. I ordered a steamed pork bun and never received it. I don't think this would stop me from going back because the dumplings were very good! I can't wait to buy them in bulk and fry them myself! The dumplings are fantastic, so hot, fresh and flavorful, and you get incredible value for your money. However as other reviewers mention, this isn't really a restaurant, we ordered, wait 15 minutes for the dumplings in a warehouse that is only semi-heated. They randomly raised their prices 50% recently. They didn't even bother printing new menus - just crossed off the old prices and wrote in new ones.
