Val & Ruben are honest mechanics- I highly recommend their services! I had a check engine light & had it repaired- they diagnosed it prior to running Smog. Thank you for such superb service read more

They do a great job especially with Asian-made cars. We have several Toyota's and my work car is now a Nissan. I don't go anywhere else.

Quick, fast, affordable I think he is still in the $40-$50 range for a smog guy. Very knowledgeable and when there's no line you're in and out of there in 10-15 minutes tops. I've smogged 4 cars here already. Highly recommend and support local small business. read more

I went here on a Saturday after being recommended by AAA for a smog check. Everything was quick and reasonably priced. Val was friendly and a nice guy. I highly recommend and will start referring friends going forward. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. EXTREMELY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. I pulled up to ask if someone could help me with a very minor problem. The man was working on a car and pretended not to notice me and when I said excuse me, just to ask a question, he said sorry I can't help you right now. When I tried to explain quickly I was told in a very rude way basically to go screw myself. When I left the man even cursed me out. read more

Friendly staff, very fair quotes, quick service. Always recommend this place to friends

I couldn't be happier with my experience at Val's Automotive! From the moment I walked in, I was treated with professionalism, honesty, and top-tier customer service. It's not easy to find a shop that you can fully trust, but Val's Automotive has definitely earned my loyalty. The team here is knowledgeable, efficient, and truly cares about their customers. They took the time to explain everything in detail, offered fair pricing, and most importantly, did an amazing job on my car. The quality of work is outstanding, and you can tell they take pride in what they do. It's rare to find a shop that combines expertise, integrity, and great customer service all in one, but Val's Automotive does exactly that. I'm extremely happy with my experience and will be recommending them to everyone I know. If you need automotive work done right, this is the place to go! Thank you to the whole team at Val's--you guys are the best! read more

I love this place. Val services not only my car, but my parent's and other family member's cars. Val's prices are very reasonable. He often times tries to save me money and will offer me options if he thinks the price for the parts will be too expensive. During covid times when things are tough, it's a rarity that people will try to save their customers money. Val is so kind to my mom and my auntie. He's patient with them and explains what needs to be done. He's nice to me too, we just don't talk as much and we just get down to business. Support small businesses! read more

Went in for a smog check. Was in and out, but Val was rude and acted like servicing my car was an inconvenience. I would suggest going down the street to the smog check place off of Colorado were they're friendly and happy to help! read more

I went to ask about my catalytic converter and to see if it was ready for smog. The man rudely asked "well what's wrong with it" as if that wasn't my whole concern and question? After explaining that, he finally came to check with his monitor and he told me to forget my catalytic converter, there were 4 other things wrong. He told me this AS he was walking away. I asked for clarification and he didn't even respond. I just got back in my car and left. The guy was completely useless and rude. Almost seemed like he discounted me as soon as he saw how I looked. read more

Stopped in for quick smog check. I was in and out in 20 minutes. I guess $50.00 is the going rate for test, certificate and them sending pass results to the DMV. I would recommend them. read more

Don't waste your time. Although I'm sure many of you had a great experience here, I definitely didn't. We took a older car in for a smog check. The car did not pass the smog check, and I was charged. Something didn't feel right, so I took my car to another Auto center and it passed the smog check. I was informed that usually there is no fee that is charged when your car doesn't pass the check. It was really upsetting that I was tricked. Not sure what happened, but wanted to share my experience. read more

I had taken my car here before several times for smog check and to get my shocks/struts swapped and although they aren't the most charismatic, they got the job done and charged a decent rate. That's why I'm giving 2 stars and not 1. I took my car on a Saturday at 12:30 to see if he could take a quick look and see where my car was leaking from and to confirm if this is something he could take care of in his shop at a later date. He said he closed at 1 and to come back on Monday even though they weren't servicing any cars (and they supposedly close at 6 on Saturdays). I show up early on Monday and tell them I have a leak. He asks me what is it?? I tell him it seems like red fluid and could be oil. He says he doesn't work on transmissions there (even though his sign says he does). I asked if he wanted to take a look at it at all in case I'm wrong and he says no lol. Business must be booming. I got a diagnostic within 5 min from a place I trust to do my oil changes. I would have gladly had it serviced by them but they're only a lube place. Called again to see if they would be able to service that and once they confirmed they did, I smiled because they just lost a customer. Never going back there again. read more

Been getting smog checks here for over two decades. This is a clean shop with convenient access. The inspection is visible from the clean waiting area inside the office. Situated one block from the Auto Club's Glendale office. read more

My family has been a customer of Val's for a long long time & will remain a loyal customer for as long as he's around. Val is proven to be trustworthy & reliable. He is a no non-sense man who is straightforward in assessing what's to be done & does it right. He has an endearing quality about him ... like a family giving tips on what's best for the car w/ less expense. He shows genuine concern for his clients! Juliana Y. (Glendale) read more

I've been going to Val's for many years. Val is a very nice and professional mechanic and I highly recommend him. I even work for an Auto Insurance company and recommend Val's.His smog checks are fast and easy. I got my brakes replaced here for much more cheaper than my dealership. read more

This place is so amazing and reliable. I even take my cars for smog check whenever dmv requires me to get one.

Smog test time again, and this time I got the test at a different auto shop. For whatever reason, my regular mechanic's shop no longer offers the smog testing, so I was referred to Val's Auto, which happens to be in my neighborhood. When I arrived, the owner was very welcoming and, without a doubt, I realized this was the cleanest auto shop I've ever seen. Val's Auto is a small shop but its professional, clean, repairs both foreign and domestic cars, the mechanics are ASE certified, and the services are reasonably priced. It's rare that people come across honest mechanics, so this rarity will be tough for me, as I'm torn between using my regular mechanic and this new mechanic. Though I only came to this shop for a smog test, I was so impressed with their ethics, honesty, and professionalism, that I can't help but give them their due credit and want to return for more auto service. My smog test took less than 30 minutes and the price was only $29.95. The owner even referred me to a local AAA office to renew my registration. Also, I liked the professional interaction between the staff and the other customers. Undoubtedly, Val's Auto is an auto shop that I recommend! read more

WARNING BEFORE GOING HERE READ THIS WARNING I went here to get my oil changed for my car. He came back to me and almost changed more stuff on my car without any permission. In the end I got my new oil in my car but got charged 180 dollars. I could have made a good choice and went to a different area where they charge 40 to 80 bucks so if I were you I wouldn't make the same mistake I did. Not just that but they also have poor customer service. I would put 0 stars if I could. read more

They charge extra for older cars to be smoged, extra fees, and also charge you if your car does not pass unlike other places. Don't be fooled by the sign, be careful of taking your car for smog here. 0/5 stars read more

It is really hard to find an honest mechanic any where. I have a 1999 Jaguar and the air conditioning went out. The pipe from the compressor that connects to the second pipe that goes to the front port is very difficult to R&R, I really should say extreme difficult to remove and replace!!!. There is a lot of work to get it done. Val got it done and explained what he had to and provided me the old parts. The price was right and if you want a quality job done for the right price, Val's is the place to go!!! read more

I am having a difficult time registering my car. The gentleman at Val's that helped me with inspections was the first person in this process that treated me with respect and helped me and explained to me what else I needed to do. He was organized and runs a clean shop. He was very kind and didn't overcharge me. I will take advantage of his services for any of my future needs. Thank you again for doing a fantastic job and knowing how to treat a customer. Thank you Thank you Update: I had to return with new shoes and boots. Again, I cannot say how helpful and kind the gentleman was that helped me. I am so grateful. read more

My car was inspected with great detail and they even fixed a light directional issue that I didn't know I had. A+++ service with a smile.

We've been bringing all our cars to Val's for almost a decade now. They always do a great job at a great price!

Val is the most honest mechanic I have ever met. He has even researched a job on my ac system for me and gave me the lowest quote around. You have to take advantage of this amazing auto repair shop. Quality work from a respectable shop owner. Update - Val is the most honest and reasonable mechanic I've ever had the pleasure of doing business with. I had a synthetic oil change, cabin filter change, transmission fluid change, tire rotation, and front brake service with pad replacement. And I expected to pay about $100 more than what I ended up paying. Awesome savings and great work on my 2009 Honda Civic. This is is my permanent mechanic for sure. Do not hesitate to get your service needs met here! read more

Got recommended from my girlfriend for Val's and have no complaints. Professional and more affordable than other options and almost even more importantly was attentive and fixed what I needed without trying to add anything like some mechanics do. They fixed my alternator for less than I was expecting, and after I actually had a problem with the brake lights the next day and they fixed it quickly to ensure I didn't have any more battery problems. Will be coming back for sure for any car needs. read more

The Mazda dealership said I needed new brake pads and rotors front and rear. $1100.00 total cost. I went to Val and he checked- front brakes were still 90% and fine- rear just needed new pads and grinding. $186.00!! He saved me over $900!! read more

Great Star Smog shop, honest mechanic will help you pass your smog. If not they will instruct you on what you need to do to pass.

If you're in the area, you can't go wrong performing your smog check at Val's. I took my parents' car down the street last month, paid more and it took longer. Today I was driving by and happened to catch them with an empty bay. They have the new ODB sensor equipment which means the entire process takes about 5 minutes to complete. If your car was made before 2000 you'll need to spin the old dyno which takes longer. read more

Mr. Val is wonderful, professional and trustworthy person. I came to his shop to check my engine light VSC & Track off. When I introduced myself and said that I used to go to him at Arco station where he used to work. Now that he owns this place. He immediately acknowledged me and I had a warm reception. He checks the problem and advised me to observe it for a week if lights comes back I will have to go back to him and he assures me that it is not a big of a deal what the problem is. He did not even charge me for the service and time he provided. Where else can you find people like this these days. That's why he is blessed. More power Val and God Bless. Went in without an appointment at 5pm on Friday to get a SMOG TEST. Was quoted over the phone it would be $40 including the certificate for all cars with the year 2000 and up. Took only 10 min. They have a nice waiting area with chairs and a television. Very friendly service. Val was nice. Another smog place just down the street called "Glendale Smog and Test Only" on Colorado is very busy and slow to respond but they quoted me $58. Val's is cheaper and faster! read more

DO NOT GO HERE! I would have given them 0 stars if I could. I took my car here to get an annual smog check. I didn't know that a car will automatically FAIL IF YOUR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. The technician at Val's should have known that prior to testing my vehicle. They tested it anyway and surprise surprise it failed! When I brought my car back in to re-test- I asked them why they tested my vehicle even though my check engine light was on? Their response was "we must have missed it". WHAT?? THIS IS WHAT YOU DO ALL DAY EVERYDAY!! read more
