Have them print your detailed invoice and read it before paying. Don't just let them email it. If you can read every charge before approving the repair, do it. I came in the afternoon and was pressed for time so it was my mistake not to review the quote. They add on items that should already be part of the repair. Other things to keep in mind with this Glendale branch: (1) If you buy tires from Firestone they charge extra for balancing unlike Discount Tire Centers or America's Tire where it is included, so you save money buying tires elsewhere, (2) They do not deduct diagnostic fees when you authorize the repair unlike all other Service Centers even Dealerships, they also don't tell you that beforehand, (3) Firestone will overcharge you for parts. Granted dealerships will do the same but it's just a sleazy practice that no one should be doing. (4) They will not thoroughly explain what's included on the costs. Like I said I should have reviewed the quote in detail. They added hazard protection for the tires without letting me know, which added $125 to my bill. My verdict is go elsewhere. Our vehicle had low pressure light on for months, even after putting on new set of tires. My husband spoke to Eric over the phone and told to go in to check it out. Worst. Service. Ever. My wife took our car in for an estimate and was told we needed four tires. They wanted to do the work immediately. She wanted to consult with me. We went back together and, after questioning, were told that we only needed two tires. Were they trying to take advantage of her? We were told that they were not busy and that they could do the work immediately. (This was a Sunday afternoon.) We consented, and came back in 90 minutes, the promised time. The car was still sitting in the parking lot. It hadn't been worked on at all. Apologies were made. We were told that we could make an appointment for the next day, and that they would work on the car immediately, since we'd already waited for 90 minutes. We brought the car back the next day at the appointed time. TWO HOURS LATER, they still hadn't started work on the car, despite their promise to us. (Two hours sitting in their waiting room trying to read while game shows blared from the television.) Hours of waiting that I will never get back. I do not recommend this business at all. read more

Apparently going on a slow day will cause them to avoid working on your car. If you don't wait in the place they say they will call but they won't. They will even say they will call back in a few minutes when you check on status with an update...they won't. On a slow day an oil change will take nearly 6 hours. I additionally needed other things done to my car and instead of talking about them to me they put down that I declined. I only learned what the recommendations were after I received my digital receipt (which was after the store closed). My car needs to now go somewhere else for immediate service because they waited until closing time to let me pick up my car & provide these updates. I was impressed with the courtesy and friendliness of the staff at this location. They replaced my oil and oil filter. The work was done fairly quickly, the facility was clean and comfortable, definitely better than most oil change locations, and the pricing was great (with coupon). They must make their money from selling tires, but other than checking my tires and saying I should think about replacing tires soon, there was no "hard sell" push to get me to replace them right away. I have been going here for years for tires and brakes, but the last couple years the service has gone steeply downhill. I am guessing the management is different now. After the recent brake job they did, I will not be going back. They claimed to have flushed the brake fluid when I got new brakes, but they scammed me. The brake fluid was still very dark and dirty after their brake fluid flush. I took my car to the dealership to confirm I was scammed. They agreed that the brake fluid hasn't been changed in years. WORST FIRESTONE location by a mile. Two years ago I came in to get my brakes checked out and they told me I needed new rotters. I have gotten them from the south LA location in the past on a different car and they offered me a great deal on them and applied tons of promotions without me even asking. THIS LOCATION was trying to charge me $150 more and upsell me on a new battery. When I asked about the price discrepancy and called the other location to verify that their price was still cheaper the guy tried to claim their "labor" was more expensive...because it's in Glendale and not South LA. Finally after berating him about it he finally folded and magically found a discount perfectly matching the south la price. On top of that they used the worst brake pads possible and they warped my new rotters after just two years of use. Oh and that battery they tried to tell me was just about to die? It just finally died almost two and a half years later. I'm convinced this location is bribing or paying for good reviews If you can just go to the south LA location. The drive is a hassle and they are always packed (for good reason) but if you need to go to a firestone...don't make it this one. read more

On 9/13, 9:00am I visited the Firestone at 401 S. Brand, Glendale, CA. I presented the 'check engine light' code (P0171) printout that I got from Autozone. Carlos Moran and Vic both said they will still need to do their own diagnostics for $110. Both assured me that the problem would be found. At 2:00pm I called to check the status, and Carlos said "You could try changing the oxygen sensor, but the 'check engine light' might go back on, but the technician is still working on your car, give us another hour." 3 hours later, no call, so I called again. Carlos said "it's ready." I said "I was never called and informed of the problem to approve the repair." Carlos informed me there was no repair, but he said "Try replacing the oxygen sensor and fuel injectors and then go from there." It was obvious they didn't find the problem; they were just guessing. I asked about the cost of installing a new oxygen sensor, and he replied "We don't do that; we don't feel comfortable doing that." Now I know why Firestone does not deduct the $110 diagnostics charge after performing a repair. I arrived to pick up my car, and a different staff member came to assist, just as another customer walked in seconds after me. I stated to the other staff member that I should not have to pay for the diagnostics because the problem was not found. He resisted, so I asked for Carlos. While I was waiting for Carlos, the other customer told me about her problem she had with the same Firestone store: Her brake job was not done correctly... twice, and she was there to pick up her car but not pay. Carlos also resisted my request to not pay the $110 charge, but then finally said "Ok, I won't charge for the diagnostics, but don't come back here." Truly despicable! Firestone needs to ask themselves this question: "Are the staff at that shop doing something wrong, or are the customers doing something wrong?" I think you know the answer. Eric P. read more

My partner and I took her Volkswagen in to get a tire rotation. They said it was a 2 hour wait. No problem. Came back 2 hours later and they told us her tires were basically balding "level 1" so there wasn't a point to rotate them. That was 100% NOT accurate, we're not idiots we know what balding tires look and feel like. They tried scamming into getting new tires. Bad business. We even went the lengths to take her car to a different place and they said her treads were a "3-4" wouldn't trust this place. read more

They told me on the phone Sunday afternoon that they had the tire I need for $80. I make an appointment for the next morning. I arrive and they immediately upscale me, saying they don't have any tires at that price. But i can get a tire for $140. I'm already there, so I go ahead and get 2 front tires. 2 and a half hours later, they tell me it's done. For all this extra money, they didn't bother to put my spare tire away. They watched while I did in their parking lot. I also noticed they didn't even bother to rotate the tires. If I get the 2 front tires replaced, other than putting the spare tire away (not just thrown in the back of my car), you can at least rotate the back wheels forward. These guys are awesome! They get really busy so if they can't service you, they'll still make sure you're good to drive. I came in, in total damsel in distress mode, with a flat flat flat tire. Andrew, the tire manager who works up front, felt my anxiety and empathized. The mechanics & technicians were too busy today so he took my car in the back and changed the tire himself. I noticed he wasn't done with his lunch break yet. Andrew was literally stopping eating and putting away his food to help me. Thank you so much, Andrew for your wonderful customer service !! Our car broke down while in Glendale and had to have it towed, the dealer didn't answer the phone at 5 o'clock on a Saturday but I looked on Yelp and found this shop open. I called over and they said to bring in the car, the tow drive was about 2 blocks away and they were able to work on the car and get it repaired and back on the road on Sunday. I got a Firestone credit card and that took 10% off the total bill. I would recommend, they guys knew what the problem was and didn't overcharge for the service. read more

I would consider myself above average with knowing how to repair mostly anything on my vehicle. When I was younger, I learned how to do maintenance on my cars and have a mechanic brother who I rebuilt an engine with, repaired radiators, AC, shocks...you name it. I really appreciate the customer service at Firestone, they aren't condescending or rude when I am talking to them about issues I am having and they listen to possible ideas when I explain them. I have several cars and only trust 2-3 auto shops to do work on my vehicles, and Firestone on Brand is one of them. I originally brought my truck in because my AC isn't working. After talking to the first rep (sorry I didn't get his name), he was honest and said they can't service it. Since I did have an appointment, I went ahead and asked to have my brakes looked at. About 3 hours later, Robert called (current manager is Vic) and explained what the problem was and the costs to repair. I honestly didn't expect to pay that much, but Robert honored a coupon I mentioned and he would call when it was done. When I picked my truck up, I was surprised, the cost was $240 less than the original quote. Robert mentioned that one of the parts was not needed, so they didn't charge me. Vic Makuchyan, Manager at 401,South Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA (818) 241-5161 is not honest, sincere & is a great actor as he looked me in the eyes not once, but many times when he said my car's issues in January 2024 would resolve the problems as the car's engine light was on. He sold me a part for my car knowing it was best to have car repair completed by the car's dealer & use an original part for my car. I confirmed this as the 2 dealer and 2 other managers (his own colleagues through him under the bus) at 2 other Firestone Auto stores/locations stated the car's mechanical/electric issues need to be repaired at the dealer from the start and only use manufacture's highly recommended original parts for this particular car issue. Vic Makuchyan, Manager Glendale, CA needed to have recommended this and advised me to go straight to the dealer. Instead he made me spent $$$$ on a repair that was NIT RENDERED. The engine light is still on, issue not resolved, my time and energy has been wasted and there's no compensation for it not to mention being de-moralized. Again Firestone Auto 401 S Brand Blvd., Glendale, CA Manager Vic Makuchyan needed to be forth coming with me. Instead he chose to sell me an imitation part which was not going to fix the problem & in the end I was going to have to take my car to the dealer for the repair anyway. He was adamant more than once that the dealer (my car not purchased there) down the street was the next step to get the car fully repaired. Does Vic and this dealer have a pact to charge customers twice for repairs/services? If the repair/service Not achieved at Firestone then the dealer down the block will make an attempt. Wow! Questionable business practices...?!?! This is only speculation and an allegation I cannot confirm. However, if I chose to take it there I was informed by this dealer whatever repair/service was provided by Firestone Glendale was null & voided and I must start all over again which meant another expensive initial diagnostic test again. He refused. He didn't accept my calls a few times & when I confronted him in person this time he could not look at me in the eyes. He teased me for "for not knowing about my car's needed repairs & all things cars. Then he had the audacity to raise his voice & walked out of the shop. These guys are great! Friendly and knowledgeable. And when they can't figure out a problem, they admit it! How rare is that? I had such a situation recently where my Toyota Camry Hybrid had mysteriously lost 10 mpg in fuel efficiency over the past few weeks. Also, the "check engine" light had come on. I assumed it was because I was 50K miles past my recommended spark plug change. So they took care of that, and reset my "check engine" light. Yet the problem persisted. They ran a diagnostic. Nope--no obvious solution, and recommended that I take my car to the dealer, so I did. The dealer did their check, and figured that the problem was being caused by an XYZ. So I paid $500+ to have them fix XYZ. Two days on and the problem persisted: low fuel economy. And approximately 288 miles later the "check engine" light went on again! Back to the dealership. They ran their checks and discovered that the XYZ problem was because ABC had failed. "You couldn't have figured that out the first time??" I thought to myself. They wanted to charge $1500 for repairs, or 10% of what I'd paid for the (used) car. I declined. I went to Firestone and explained the situation. Vic said that it would cost me $900 if they did it. "Is that just for the part?" I asked. "No, that includes parts and labor," he responded. read more

I got two flat tires a few months ago and declined to get the roadtrak warranty (bad idea), so when my tire became flat due to a nail in it a few weeks after replacing the first two tires, I was BEYOND upset. My sister passed away within days of this happening and I was in such a terrible bind financially. Vic helped me out SO much and I can not thank him enough! I'm very disappointed that they take appointment and put them last simply because you agree to "it might be a 4 hour wait". I saw two walk-ins come in and out before me, they only waited one hour. Instead of taking appointments they should block appointments and say walk-ins only!!I was out until 1:55pm VERY DISAPPOINTED!!
