I take ketamine IV, for severe chronic depression. It is the first medication or treatment of any kind that has brought relief in over 30 years. I live in Honolulu, and there were no clinicians here providing it who had a real understanding of the drug, so I first flew to an excellent Doc, in LA, and later found another excellent physician located on the Big Island, Hawaii...also requiring a flight! Both were proponents of adding ketamine lozenges to extend the effects of IV Ketamine. Over three years I have worked with 5 compounding pharmacies. The first 4 made me keep searching...then I found VALOR. VALOR COMPOUNDING PHARMACY feels like an unexpected gift, and has simplified my life. These days, when one finds anything that helps lower the stress level most of us live with, it is worthy of celebrating. Everyone at VALOR has treated me with respect and care, they are knowledgeable professionals ( yes, especially Elisabetta and Sarah). I have never in my 75 years dealt with a pharmacy who immediately makes it clear that the customer is paramount. Their #1 focus is you, their customer, and assisting in your Healthcare needs. I wish the many doctor's offices/ hospitals I have visited over the years made me immediately feel that same crystal clear focus. When customer service is exceptional, whether via emails or phone calls, as a former executive, I know that is generated from the top down. I can only thank the CEO of VALOR for that experience. With the emergence and growth of online services and shopping, the companies with superb customer service have shown exactly how critical that is. My personal hope is that Healthcare companies / insurance companies/local electric companies, or whomever provides your internet service, etc. will catch on to what companies like Zappa and Amazon have done for years on a daily basis..customer service people respond quickly to emails and phone calls. They make you feel like your question or problem matters, is important to them. Their focus is to solve your problem. I value that attitude. I am thankful for that attitude. That is how I feel about VALOR. Especially because they play a huge role in my Healthcare. Additionally, if a mistake is made, it is rectified immediately. I also find their pricing VERY reasonable and in line with the cost of compounding my specific medication. I have worked for and with major Healthcare product companies, so I say that with knowledge of the industry. I would recommend VALOR to close friends and to anyone. If my doctor asked me to work with a local pharmacy, I would simply refuse. For the most part I am happy with Valor. At times they get busy and you are placed on hold for long time. They do have a feature where they will call you back which I used after waiting but I waited 2 days and they didn't return my call. Frustrating! the last two times I called someone answered right away and processed refill and received in the mail in a few days. I am happy with the product and find it helps me tremendously! I want to love this place. The medicine is good. The store front is clean. My problems are the following: 1) The price of the medicine seems to have increased exponentially. I do understand supply and demand and yet to increase it this much feels inappropriate. 2) The customer service on the phone has been inconsistent. One person tells me one thing, the information is not relayed to the other staff, or the other staff state a different policy. 3) I tend to have a lot of leeway and patience for employees dealing with the public. I have been treated well or even decently by at least 2 staff members at the front desk. However, there is one staff member who is consistently rude . Her voice has the undertones of impatience, possibly hostility, like I interrupted her from something more important and how dare I waste her time. I would chalk this up to a bad day, but it has happened each time I deal with this specific person. For anyone, but especially someone getting psych meds, this is a no go and plain old harmful. read more

Am a somewhat newer patient, I have had I think 3-4 refills, most all went well outside of some issues with last prescription. Decided to stay regardless and waiting currently for next prescription to be filled and shipped. But seems to have gone well overall and things happen. I own a business and know things can happen. Sure it will go as had gone with most refills here. Overall they have seemed nice and professional and plan on staying unless issues happen again. But would recommend as of now. read more

Of course I cannot speak for them as an entire organization, and i've had my fair share of issues with valor since they themselves are facing short staffing in their lab and IT issues. However, Tia is an absolute breath of fresh air and makes me feel like I have an ally in the cold world of pharmaceuticals. She literally told me she is by my side for now on since she met me. They do not pick up their phones nor return voicemails. This is the second time I've had an issue with my prescription and cannot reach them for a week. The phone call would take all of 30 seconds if they just hired an additional call person. Would probably save a lot of people grief. read more

We're so impressed by their great customer service. I spoke with 3 staff members as my daughter's prescription just got transferred here and I had many questions. Everyone of these staff are very patient, professional and kind. Sherine went out of her way to make sure my daughter will use the most freshly made solution and also called me to advise on keeping it cool during the long travel. This company seems to really care about the wellbeing of their customers and the quality of their products. Since Valor bought out my compounding pharmacy, the service is much slower, the communication is poorer and the price on my prescription went up from $180 to $300. My last order languished because someone changed my billing information in the system, but rather than contacting me, they just didn't fill the prescription after they sent a confirmation of my request for refill. I just tried to submit a question on their website and their Captcha box isn't functioning properly. It's hard to get anyone live by phone. You can't email them and their online comment/question form is malfunctioning. The actual pharmacy staff are very nice but this company sucks. read more

I was happy with Wellspring, but since they became Valor I've had problem after problem. Multiple times I've requested a refill, scheduled a pickup time and been told they'd call when it's ready; that time would go by and I'd call to check and they'd act surprised and tell me it wasn't ready and schedule a new time. Bad enough, right? It gets worse. This month I requested a refill online because their recording said that was faster than talking to a person. I requested it on a Friday, when I hadn't heard anything by Tuesday I called and left a voice mail to check on it. That was over a week ago. Fortunately, I placed the refill request far enough in advance that I could split the capsules and do half-doses while waiting for another compounding pharmacy to fill a new prescription. read more

While this review is for Valor, the 5 star rating was earned during my time working with Tia who embodies what it means to be an exceptional human being. Having dealt with many different pharmacies over the years and consistently being disappointed with the level of transparency, response times & the quality of customer service it has been a breathe of fresh air working with Valor. I recently had a small mix up with my prescription at Valor, which has happened at every pharmacy I have used in the past without exception, the difference in how this situation was handled honestly astounded me. Instead of waiting hours on the phone waiting to be connected to someone who may or may not even be able to help resolve the issue, I barely waited 5 minutes before speaking to Tia, who I had originally spoken to when I first started going to Valor. After explaining the situation to Tia, she assured me that she was going to help get this figured out and immediately sprung into action. I was expecting to wait a week before anything materialized but to my delight I received a follow up call from her the very next day apologizing for the mix up and providing me a list of options on how we could move forward. I was able to get the correct prescription in time for my next session; which I didn't anticipate would be possible based on how busy they currently are. This demonstrated just how far above and beyond Tia went to ensure I was taken care of and the level of dedication and tight collaboration with the team at Valor. My interactions with Valor, and Tia specifically, have renewed my faith in pharmacies truly being compassionate, understanding and helpful as opposed to just another headache & inconvenience to deal with. In speaking with Tia's supervisor, Sarah, I was further reassured that Valor's ethics go beyond just a single person and is likely part of their culture. On a final note, I cannot thank Tia enough for providing one of the best patient/customer experiences, of any type, I have had in a very long time. She represents the gold standard as far as I'm concerned and an example which others should strive to emulate. Tia truly deserves the praise she has received from other reviewers on yelp and I hope to work with her as I continue to use Valor for my medication. After paying a week ago via their text link, I called two days later to follow up. No call back. I wrote to them via email at Customer Service. No reply. I left another voice mail. No reply. I wrote anotehr email. No reply. I used the Chat box, never connected to a human after 30 min waiting. I used the Contact Us page, no reply. I left another voice mail. No reply. I left another voicemail... and got a page emailed demanding a SECOND PAYMENT for the same thing without ANY indication on whether my payment the week prior had gone through. The employee repeatedly mocked and delayed, was passive-aggressive and worse, then the pharmacist was inappropriate and refused 11 requests for escalation to an owner of the company or any kind of supervisor. There's a better nationwide pharmacy for mail order with a name like Custom or like Choice...? Way better and less expensive, and I always get a human who's responsive when I call. read more

I love doing business with this pharmacy. They speak to customers in a natural way, not scripted, yet more efficient than the scripted service you get from other venues. When they set a date by which you will receive your prescription you can count on it arriving exactly on that date. Do not use this compounding pharmacy! They are the worst! Their customer service is atrocious. They'll deduct money from your account but you won't receive your prescription. Then when you try to contact someone by phone all you get is a recording and no one ever calls you back. The same with emailing them. It's a waste of time! A one star review is being generous! Overcharges by twice the cost I was really hoping to switch over from Golden Gate Veterinarian Compounding Pharmacy to Wellspring Compounding Pharmacy since I live around Berkeley. However it turns out Wellspring charges more than double what Golden Gate charges for my cat's compounded transdermal gel. Even with Golden Gate's $10 shipping fee, it only costs about $45 for a 30-day supply vs $75 for a 30-day at Wellspring. read more

Wellspring Pharmacy - Great company, pleasant to deal with. It's in downtown Berkeley on Shattuck, and I always find parking when I go there. I get meds for my cat at Wellspring because they have tastier prescriptions for animals that aren't strawberry or fruit flavored and sugary, to boot. Cats hate fruit flavored meds and prefer their chicken or other meat flavors. Also, they have some transdermal medications that can just be rubbed onto pets ears instead of requiring a pill to be shoved down their throats, much easier! Some meds are available in transdermal formulations, if that medication is effectively absorbed into the skin, not all meds can be given that way. My cat is impossible to pill so I just get the compounded thyroid medication, tapazole, to rub on his ear. Better for both of us. Wellspring Pharmacy is convenient and easy to get to, also requires no shipping time wait. You can pick up the meds or get them mailed if you prefer. It's good to keep a credit card number on file so your prescriptions aren't delayed. They make each prescription that requires compounding after your doctor calls in the order but due to the labor costs involved, it's important to have a credit card on file for ease of transaction because they can't fill the Rx until you call to authorize the Rx. Once they compound it, make sure you pick up the Rx because those orders are special ordered for your needs, or your pet's needs. Individualized medicines, I like it. I like Wellspring! I got tired of fighting with my cat to get his meds down him only to find them wadded up in his chest fur or laying on the floor. He spit the pills out w/o my knowledge. read more

My cat needs a dose of a medication that cant be measured by splitting up a tablet. Wellspring Pharmacy is able to compound it into a tuna flavored liquid so I can easily give my cat a precise dose. Refills are pretty easy, just call and they will have it ready for pickup the next day. The only draw back is street parking is difficult and their large parking lot requires you to pay by the hour even if it takes you just 5 min to run inside. Wellspring is the only pharmacy in the east bay that will fill my prescription, one that requires compounding, so I'm stuck using them. I've used both the Oakland and Berkeley locations and faced problems with each. At the Oakland store, the staff actively makes fun of trans customers so going there is dreadful. They've also double charged my credit card and I believe, miss filled my prescription. I got them to remove the double charge. The Berkeley store keeps calling me, saying I haven't paid in full, which is ridiculous because I pick up my scrips in person, vs use their delivery service, and always pay in full with no insurance. This has happened twice now. I've spoken to the manager and hopefully this has been resolved, but this is a lot of hassle to go through to do business with a company. I've been assured that they haven't turned me into a collection agency, but I still don't appreciate having to do multiple phone calls, arguing about charges for what should be a simple transaction. Again, I have no other choice besides going to SF so I'm stuck with them. :-( read more
