We stopped by this CVS location to pick up some photo prints after lunch. They have a pretty good sized parking lot, but the spaces are a bit cramped for when you're pulling out. Especially if there is someone behind you that parked with their rear sticking too far out. We also noticed that despite the large lot size, the parking lot was nearly at capacity even though there did not appear to be very many customers inside the store. This leads us to believe that some people are using their lot while shopping/running errands nearby. We didn't check out much of the store since we were only here for some photo orders. But the cashier was pretty friendly, and we were able to get our orders and leave in fairly good time. read more

For the area the parking lot is huge. I can't believe there is so much parking. We only noticed this as we walked from our car we parked on the side street. Next time we need to go to CVS we'll park in their lot. After dinner at Sauls we were going to stop by Safeway to get some toilet paper, but that was all the way on the other side of a busy street and addition the street only turns right not left so get to the other side of the street where Safeway is located. My husband suggested we go to CVS which was actually next to where I was standing. I had no idea there was a CVS there as there was no signage on the side of the building. To my relief my husband was correct and I was standing next to CVS. We walked around the corner and there it was, with a big sign in front and there huge parking lot. We were already parked from going out to dinner on the side street so we didn't need there parking lot. The store is pretty big. Soon as we entered I asked the gal behind the front counter which aisle the toilet paper was at and she said aisle 19 and she was correct. She pointed me in the correct direction and I quickly made may way there. There were lots of choices. Some on sale, which looked like a good deal, then we found a pack that you got a discount for being a member and it was a dollar less then the one that was on sale so we got that one. We noted the price just in case our phone number didn't work and we wouldn't get the deal. We were blessed that our phone number worked and we got the deal. For $5.99 we got a 4 pack of double rolls. We didn't need a bigger pack as we shop at Costco at home and just needed some to tie us over as we were visiting family and didn't want to use all of there toilet paper. I'd come back here if I needed a drug store and I was in the area. The staff were helpful and the store was well organized and clean and they have a huge parking lot. read more

I am willing to give people a chance. The CVS pharmacy at 1431 Shattuck Ave. has lost that chance. In January I went to pick up a prescription which had been $4.00 and went up to $34.00. I paid, but went over and stood in line to consult. The technician told me that the person behind the counter had informed me of the increase in price, so why was I asking for a refund? TO MY KNOWLEDGE, I WAS NOT INFORMED OF AN INCREASE IN PRICE. The salesperson just charged me. When I mentioned to the consultant that I had not been told, he informed me that he heard the salesperson tell me. I went today 3/6 to cancel my prescriptions. When I spoke with a manager, she consulted with the person in question, then told me it sometimes gets loud in the CVS line. I can't believe that this store still in business! They open at 11am on the weekend! No wonder they have all negative reviews. A few months ago, I switched to Safeway across the street and have never had any issues. Pharmacies are really important and delays getting medicines for elderly and ill people are very serious issues, but I think the pharmacists here thrive on creating problems. I had several similar issues with refills. I take pretty innocuous and common drugs - no opioids or anything sensitive. But I felt that I was treated like a criminal. First, it is 100% impossible to call to speak to someone in real time (there is an automated call pick up system, then you need to leave a voicemail and wait several hours for a callback). When I went to pick up refills (because I got the text saying it's ready), I was told there were administrative issues, so I needed to call my doctor (no, they don't do it) then come back and start the process all over again. My doctor said, we don't understand what the problem is so we'll just send it again. read more

Everybody at this location is super friendly and treat me with so much respect except for a cashier name Cal. I'm not sure if he has something against me, he always gives me hard time. I was picking up a prescription he asked me if I was on the phone, he heard me when I said bye to my friend. He said something about them asking for personal information and me being on the phone (which I was not, I had my EarPod on) then he kept trying to look on my phone to make sure I was not on the phone I asked him why is he always giving me hard time? This is the 3rd time he helps me and always gives me a bad experience. This is personal... Then he said he refused service, I told him I needed my prescription. So he told his coworkers to take over my order. I know I'm not spending thousands and thousands of dollars and I do take advantage of the reward program but being treated this way after a long day of work is just not fair. read more

We have used this store for years and have found most of the staff to be knowledgeable and extremely nice. The pharmacists take the time to answer your questions and even lead you around the store to find OTCounter meds. I know the names of many of the folks who have worked there for years and they always wave and say "Hey or Hi!" when they see me in the store. I cannot understand these negative reviews. Terrible experience at pharmacy! Again! I changed my primary pharmacy to AARP because I've had so many horrific experiences here but mail order doesn't work for urgent needs. Yesterday my provider called in 2 prescriptions to CVS because I needed them asap. Went to pick them up today and only one was available. The very rude clerk said the other and not been sent in. I was sure it had ,quite upset because I need it by tomorrow morning. I requested she call my provider for confirmation but she refused saying the provider needed to send it in (I was sure she had!). I finally went home and checked my medical chart at Sutter online. My provider had ordered both prescriptions. This is only one of a dozen or so awful experiences I've had at this pharmacy. The pharmacy assistant are shockingly rude and unknowledgeable. Several months ago I went to pick up an urgent prescription shortly before closing. I waited on the pickup line for about an hour! When I tried to pay by check (I had ID but had left my credit cards at home), the cashier refused to accepting because he didn't know what a check was! Neither did the technicians. After much time and effort. the pharmacist told the cashier that checks did,in fact, exist and told cashier to accept it. Total time spent on line and at pharmacy counter-over an hour! Quite possibly the worst experience in a drugstore I've ever had. I waited for 10 minutes while nobody was behind the counter upfront. Then one lady came wandering up on her cell phone, asking oh is nobody here? Then she proceeded to talk to the person on the phone For another five minutes. Then she walked away. Then another person came up and spent a few minutes trying to get into the system to login before she could help any customers. Almost hilarious if it wasn't so pathetic. read more

In the area and decided to stop by this CVS, which is located in North Berkeley. It has a large parking lot, so parking is not an issue. This is a large store and the shelves appear to be well stocked. But when it came to paying, there was a line down an aisle to the registers. There were about seven customers in front of me. It appears there was only one cashier until a second cashier came. I was in line for about ten minutes before I was able to pay for my one item. This is a nice large store that would be better with more customer service. read more

I asked to have the information corrected and was told they couldn't do it. First, they said the data could not be changed. Then, they gave me the wrong number to call to get the issue resolved. The pharmacy staff is great but the folks at the front counter are strangely incompetent. They could not understand the concept of making a return, and I THINK they were trying to say that they can't take returns of things bought online, which is possible, but what they actually said was that I needed to return my fabric softener to UPS because CVS didn't send it to me, even though I had the packaging and clearly CVS sent me the fabric softener. Severely understaffed. I waited a long time in the dental care aisle, pressed the button for assistance multiple times, and tried to get the employees attention. Employees intentionally ignored me (I get there was a line at the register) but like come on... this place needs at least one person on the floor who can offer assistance! She is a disgrace to the healthcare professionals who take care of and heal patients everyday. Her abrupt, unresponsive behavior actually contributes to patient's anxiety, thus causing poorer outcomes. I have 45 years working in healthcare as a practitioner, teacher and administrator and she would be summarily terminated if she worked at almost any other facility. Comcast has risen from the cellar of customer service. Apparently, CVS is hell-bent on being the latest company that does not care about their customers. This pharmacy is disorganized beyond belief. The website and text messages will tell me an Rx is ready for pickup. When I arrive at the store, the Rx is not available for various and sundry reasons: "We're out of stock." "We haven't received the Rx from your doctor." etc., etc. (Pharmacists at this store have advised me not trust the CVS.com website.) The Website today advised me to call pharmacy about my Rx. I did so twice, waiting two hours on hold. I called the CVS Corporate Customer Service line to complain. The agent picked up right away, apologized profusely for the long wait, and tried calling the store's general manager. He was unable to get through. No one answered the phone. Pro tip: Don't bother trying to do business withis pharmacy. read more

Astonishingly awful customer service. I've been a regular at the CVS Pharmacy in Berkeley for around four years, and it's been a continual disappointment. The lines are often long and can take up to 30 minutes to get my Rx. The staff generally seem overworked and are often unpleasant to interact with. I blame CVS for treating their employees like s*** but the customer experience for me is that almost all of the pharmacy staff are sour, resentful, and treat you like they're doing you a favor by filling your prescriptions. While they have managed to fill my prescriptions adequately, any inquiry about my medication is met with rigidity and an unwillingness to help. Phone service is no different, with rudeness being a common theme. Despite having seen several managers come and go the service has remained consistently poor. (Although the current manager, Ibraham, is good; but I hate to be in a position where almost every time I have to ask for the manager to help me get my prescription filled.) Even the CVS pharmacy app is dysfunctional. The Rx info in their app often differs from what the staff have in their system when you get there, in-person; which often conflicts with the text messaging system; which often conflicts with the auto-phone call status updates. I finally switched to the pharmacy across the street that is inside a supermarket and they have been terrific -- complete opposite of CVS. Save yourself the stress and go across the street where they seem to value their customers. read more

Then the cashier in the pharmacy dept. charged me for something that was covered by my health insurance. Was she too distracted by giving her whole performance or too lazy or too incompetent(?) Very difficult to get prescriptions filled. Long wait. Different answer from different staff.

I phoned the pharmacy to ask whether a prescription that had been sent in hours earlier for me was ready. "You need to bring your insurance card!" the employee demanded. "And you must arrive 30 mins before we close." Obviously, she had missed the part about me "being on my way." My central point, however, is that she was so bent on giving orders that she did not even feel the need to answer my question! So I repeated it. "Is the prescription ready?" Incredibly, she repeated her demand that I bring my insurance card. "It's a yes or no answer," I said. Finally, she said the prescription was ready. Now, fast forward to the time I was at the pharmacy. I expected the demand to be repeated, so I had my insurance card out. Even so, another employee told me--without even using my insurance card--that "your insurance is not accepted here so you must pay $250." I suggested that she run my card through, which another employee did and surprise, surprise, my insurance covered the cost. I spoke to the store manager. She understood my point that an employee had been rude over the phone, but missed entirely my second point that needing to see my insurance card but then telling me before running it through that my insurance is not taken there (and loudly, so the line of customers could all hear!) is contradictory. "You need to bring yor insurance card" goes instead with checking it first before announcing that CVS does not take my insurance. So I walked away from the store manager having taken the decision not to return to that store. On the following day, I called CVS customer service to file a complaint, only the employee working in the company's customer service call center demanded my birthdate in addition to my name and phone number before i "could" make my complaint. I refused to give my date of birth as I was speaking on a cell phone, and the employee was petulant in her demand. I ignored her dismissiveness and gave the address of the store. "That's not the address in your profile," meaning MY address. "It's the store address," I said. But she too repeated herself, ignoring what I had said. I don't play games with players who are control-freaks. I excoriate them in reviews! "I can either provide my complaint here or on googlemaps and Yelp. What's your pleasure?" I asked. She ignored even this--she had to have all the control on the call. So I announced that I would be making the complaint publically, going around the sordid company. I then called and spoke with the employee's supervisor, after pushing through innane gate-keeping ("managerial ears only") and told him that I would not be providing my complaint to him as "I keep to my word," and would thus being doing so publically. "Here's my number," I said. Then I added, "I just want you to know which employee is responsible for not only the loss of my business, but also the complaint being made publically." I hung up, as I was not dealing with a company that is a member of polite society. Last thing: what happens when you squeeze jello tightly in one of your hands? Such a person's excessive need for control results in a complete loss of control over that which one has sought to control. If I were a glob of jello, I would be outside of CVS's clenched palm! Absolutely horrific customer service. Pharmacy is short staffed and the woman working is barking at customers. I complained to store manager, who then had this woman "apologize" when we came back to pick our prescription. I tried to say to the woman "it is clear you are having a bad day, but.....". She just argued she wasn't having a bad day and that is how she talks. I heard an old lady say the same thing about having a bad day and she was also told " I am not having a bad day". It has gone downhill, and either they have an environment that creates rude employees or an environment that allows it. Either way I will never go to this store again. read more

The most positive things about this CVS Pharmacy are the location and free parking. They seem to have a talent for consistently messing up my scrips and blaming it on the doctor's office or the insurance company. Most of their staff doesn't seem very friendly or competent. They can't even get my phone number right. And why do they ask you to provide your name and date of birth aloud in front of everyone? Isn't that considered PII (personally identifiable information) that's supposed to be protected by HIPAA regulations? I can't say enough good about my experience at this pharmacy. It was well staffed, the woman who took care of me was exceptional at her job. She moved people in and out with a smile, was super efficient and helpful beyond words. The entire store was clean, well lit, well organized and the pharmacy ran as smoothly as a precision clock. The CVS at 2655 Telegraph is possibly the worst CVS in an already shitty chain of drugstores with rude pharmacists and staff. My grandfather was an independent pharmacist and had his own pharmacy for over 45 years. So I know what a good pharmacist should do. They should not yell, be rude, dismissive, or hang up on you, ever. But the pharmacists at this location certainly do along with their techs. The pharmacy is consistently understaffed which is CVS's fault, not the staff's. There's no air purifiers in the store, the air is unfiltered, there's no air circulation, and they don't require masks. The store itself is disgusting. At one point they had a great manager who really cleaned the store up and hired quick thinking polite staff. But now? There's some dirtbag who doesn't wear a mask, all the call buttons at the store are broken and will not be fixed, The store is dirty, unkempt, and the pharmacists are often literally late to open this particular pharmacy as I experienced two days ago. As a medically vulnerable person I try to be there right when the pharmacy opens so I can interact with his few people as possible. This jerk of a pharmacist was 15 minutes late to open and then when I explained that he had put me at risk since I'm immuno compromised even wearing PPE, he copped an attitude with me and said "welcome to the real world, ma'am." And then he refused to give me one of my prescriptions and so I'm filing a complaint for pharmacist refusal and those are magic words that anyone reading this review should know so that if you get any crap from any pharmacist at any CVS, you utter those words and they will take you seriously. read more

But, today I stood for 15 minutes, pushing the customer service button to pick up a bottle of lotion now under lock and key. Two employees--neither helping customers, looked at me and knew I needed assistance. They did not provide it. After I made my purchases (having given up on the customer assistance and buying the lotion), I asked to speak with the manager.
