A great big shout out to Marla at the Albany BevMo. I came in looking for a sweet champagne or sparkling wine in the $50 range. I've had the Dom Perignon, the Crystal, both very good but not sweet and in the $400-$500 range. This was Not in my budget tonight. I asked Marla to help me find a sweet champagne or sparkling wine. She took the time to show me many different options, then finally the Moet and Chandon wine that matched my preference. Great customer service is hard to find these days. However, Marla at BevMo was outstanding and exceeded my expectations. If the owners are reading this review, I suggest you give Marla 100 bucks out of petty cash and a day off. First time inside a BevMo, cashier by the door was nice but the guy who came to let us know they're closed could use some re-training on his manners. Doing the cutting throat hand gesture while saying "we're done" is not the proper way to talk to customers, or most other humans. Surprising to find a little bit of everything and an immaculate and well-lit store. There are a lot of options but they only carry a small selection within a category. They sell ice cream, frozen tv dinners and ice cream as well. read more

Service has gone downhill. I've been getting my alcohol here for the better part of 20 years and service had always been good to one very good lady that was kind and who helped me a number of years ago. During Covid, I started having my alcohol delivered. Today (8/2/2025 around 5:30pm), I was in the area and thought instead of paying delivery cost, I'd just pick up what I need. Long story short, got 6-1.75 liters of gin and 2 bottles of wine. Guy at the check out (big guy) asked if I wanted a box, I gave the obvious answer, yes (like how else was I supposed to carry everything). Then I asked if I can have a bag too (for the 2 bottles of wine), he just pointed at the front of the counter at a stack of single wine bags. So I said I needed to put both bottles of wine in a single bag, he responds, "soooo, you want a box or a bag (as if confused or perturbed....or both)?" huh? duh! I thought to myself, see the geometry and volumetrics here, 6-1.75 liters of gin and 2 bottles of wine......need I say the obvious, I want both! LOL He proceeds to grab a big bag from under the counter shelf (which I have to pay for) and puts it on the counter.....like I should package the wine myself which I thought odd since they've always packaged both bag and box. But I thought, whateva, I'll just package the 2 bottles of wine (easy enough, but that's not the topic here, topic is where's the service!?"). The big cashier guy comes back with a box and puts it on the counter (again as if I the paying customer is supposed to do the packaging, I don't get paid to package!). So I asked him the obvious question, "you guys don't package anymore?" He mumbled something inaudible and reluctantly proceeded to put my 6 bottles of gin in the box, then as if he thought he was done, he started to get back to the cash register. I stood there not knowing what he was doing since I thought he would just put the box in my cart that was sitting right next to the counter. I guess he saw me standing there, and asked, "you want me to put it in your cart?" duh!? LOL (not wanted the big guy to over-exert and over-work himself, LOL)---all I could do was smile and responded, "no, I'm good", thinking how much of a nuisance I was as a paying customer "assuming" I would get common service from a paid cashier the way we used to. Thank You Tera for exceeding my expectations of customer service. I always have a pretty nice time when I visit BevMo I usually find what I'm looking for and the employees are very knowledgeable. Once again you nailed it. You went over the top for me and I appreciate that. My brother passed away 5 years ago and every year on his birthday I go and buy an airline bottle of gin and a little bit of tonic and I drink it while smoking a good cigar and this is something that he did every birthday. My knowledge of gin is pretty extensive over the decades so the big? For me were the cigars. I couldn't choose one if I had to. Luckily I asked the one person in the store that was available and it turned out that she likes the cigar occasionally herself. Bingo! Her name is Tera. She was smart enough to tell me what she knew but when she didn't she looked it up on the internet and got a description of the cigars I was looking at. How clever. I was impressed that she didn't tell me something that she wasn't sure about, and she wanted me to get exactly what I was looking for. I will make it a point to look for you and say hello when I come in in the future I'm new in the area so you now have a new customer. Thank you for taking such good care of me. We watched 6 people leave before us who came up after us in line because the cashier's that we are in line for just left, didn't look at us, didn't say a word, just walked away. This happened three times. Three separate lines. WTF. At one point a cashier sent us over to another, while that cashier was trying to send us over to the one we came from. Went to this BevMo at 8:30 pm, online says they're open to 9:00. Security is sitting at the front door and wouldn't let people in. After multiple come they said if you have card you can come in. All while they're sitting there eating food with their fingers. Disgusting. read more

They didn't have the exact bev I was looking for, but they had a bjillion others. On a Sunday they had plenty of staff working to help me or anyone else who seemed to need it. I had a problem with my gift card, so multiple people sprang into action to troubleshoot. The manager ended up coming to help and (after about 5 failed attempts) found my measly $3.87 balance, manually subtracting it from my total. I was so appreciative that they didn't just give up and tell me there was nothing they could do. (I probably would have walked away thinking I had an unusable $50 gift card!) Racist Enough? Went to get some wine and beer. I entered the store and the cashier "Jonathon" according to the receipt, didn't even bother to greet or reply to my greetings. The "manager" or tall walkie-Talkie guy with beard, saw me struggling carrying bottles of wine, and looking for particular wines, but instead of offering me help, he decided to " check the shelves" exactly where i was, multiple times. He had the opportunity to offer help three times but he failed. He decided to followed me instead. As i approached the register, he also happened to be there too, buying his drink. But as if it wasn't enough, he also walked out to the parking lot as i was doing the same. Also, a lot of the wine bottles are all over the place. Either they put the wrong tags or put them in the wrong place. This causes a problem when going to the register because I ended up paying more than I have to. Either way, they are lazy, racist and the tall bearded guy should fired immediately even if he is a manager or not. A decent sized Bevmo with a ton of options when it comes to your drink. You're coming here for the alcohol and you will more than likely find what you're looking for. This Bevmo is the most mismanaged store. It's so bad I don't go here anymore unless it's something only Bevmo carries, and even then I'd rather drive much further to go to the Pinole Bevmo. This store regularly doesn't prioritize getting people out of the checkout line. One of the last times that I went to the Albany store, there was a line of 13 people at the checkout line with only one checker. There was at least one employee who was walking around and didn't seem like they were doing anything critical. After about 15 minutes and after the line grew to 18 people, that employee finally slowly opened another checkout stand. This regularly happens here, and I've talked to their management about it several times, and they seem more interested in excuses than creating a positive customer experience. It happened so often, that I emailed their corporate headquarters about it, and I got a very nice customer service representative who responded to me and tried to set up a phone call with the area District Manager. Although the customer service representative checked in with me and the District Manager several times, I never heard from the District Manager. So I gave up on Bevmo. I used to be a regular customer at Bevmo, but I avoid it at all costs now. Beyond the checkout line issues and apathy to customer complaints, the Albany store also regularly seems to be out of stock of pretty basic products. I've also found that some of the prices listed on their shelves don't match what's in their system when you get checked out at the register. Again, I've mentioned all of this to the store managers and the previous District Manager. They seem to have improved on matching the price labeling with what's in their checkout system. They still are out of stock of pretty basic products regularly. I'm hoping that corporate follows Yelp and will solve these issues at Albany, but I really doubt it given how indifferent the District Manager was when a customer reached out directly to Bevmo. read more

Store has a policy of only selling to customers who allow their ID to be scanned. There is no notice of this policy in the store. After spending a 1/2 hour choosing my products, the manager told me that they would not sell to me unless I allowed them to scan my ID. There is no reason for them to scan the ID and with data breaches so prevalent, there are plenty of reasons not to. Until this visit, I could present my ID and they would key the DOB into the system. The manager seemed clueless as to why he should have this new policy posted in the store. read more

The clerk was very friendly and attentive and I was able to get what i wanted with ease. They have a wide selection of other stuff as well. Called and lady said sending someone. 10 mins later I walked in to pick up my order when there is no line. Not sure if it's an alert through a device but I tried giving it another chance. YELP 100 CHALLENGE 2017 - PART 3: 90/100 This BevMo's looks are pretty deceiving. It looks pretty small from the outside, but you walk in and it's almost like a mini warehouse. This is probably the first BevMo I've seen without ANY clutter anywhere. Aisles were wide. No issues finding what we needed. Staff was friendly. Hubbers found his poison (so did I) and were outta there in no time. And there is plenty of parking! Although I don't really frequent this area, it's good to know it's there. read more

No Mo Bev Mo for me! I've come to this store for many, many years. The last few years there has been a woman who I believe is Maria who has been very helpful every single time I've come in. Today, however, I couldn't spot her and instead ran into a large overweight bearded guy who seemed intent on NOT being helpful, but on being the big cheese or something. He was not familiar with the liquor I was asking for and tells me they have none and will not be reordering it ever. It turns out that they did in fact have it (Maria found it and informed him) but he was so snarly about not knowing his job and being overruled that he said I was denied service and essentially kicked me out because I had peeked into the back room looking for help. He will say I was rude, but it was he who was cranky from the get-go, and I hope they don't keep the guy, for the sake of the store. I tried and tried to explain to him what I was looking for, but he was completely unaware of the product and should have asked for help. But no, typical of those big know-it-all blokes, he was not going to ask for help from somebody who might know the answer. So we all lost and I won't be going back there, though I've been a pretty steady customer for many years. I do hope they get rid of him and don't make him the big boss or anything, because he's really kind of a jerk, frankly. I'll order delivery from Total Wines henceforth. Bye-bye Albany BevMo. Meh. Your average BevMo, perhaps a little jankier. Not as many options as one would hope going into a warehouse full of booze. Specifically, not many high-end selections of alcohol, and the ones they do carry are locked up so you can only get a proper look if you ask an employee to unlock the bottle for you (YOU'RE FREE, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!!). Which brings us to the next issue, which is that there never seem to be any employees on the floor. Sooooooo you get to wait for someone at the register to be free to help you so that you can unlock the booze so that you can peer more closely at that fine tequila you just may buy, so that you can then wait in line to buy it :D That said - it's fun to walk around and look at all the alcohol selections. Who knew there were so many different kinds of tequila?! They also carry beer and snacks. Great place to buy a gift. read more

Five stars for staff and mgr. To the overpaid web designers who engineered the online ordering system, You Suck. This is a COVID19 Pandemic ordering review and a heads up. First of all, if you don't want to stand in line waiting to pick up your order, go to DoorDash, create an account if you don't have one, and let them do the waiting and driving. I have no proof, but from watching a DoorDash driver load up his car, it seems those orders might get priority. Secondly, if you're up for standing in line because a) you want your BevMo points, discounts, etc., and or b) you want an item that is not offered through DoorDash, for heaven's sake WAIT UNTIL YOU GET THE SECOND EMAIL that announces that your order is ready. The first email that SEEMS to confirm your pick up time and order info might as well just say, HEY! We see that you contacted us. (Zendesk does that. That simple message might be useful sometimes, but not when the additional info on these emails are easily misinterpreted as confirmation that your requested pickup time will be honored.) Third, the people on the frontline do not have any way of really knowing how exactly when your order will be ready. I arrived with the first email, got polite clarification from frontline about need to wait for the second email. Left, irritated with the system, then about 20 mins later the ORDER IS READY email arrived. There's probably a district or regional Mgr out there struggling to design a planogram of the additional storage racks needed to streamline in in-store process. Might be time to just let local mgr team go to Home Depot and work it out. Or talk to Gilman WholeFoods. It's Memorial Day Weekend. Drive safely, be calm, plan ahead for your BevMo orders. Great selection of smokes that are kept in a great humidor! Why buy a box, only to find that you can't store your investment at home properly? On the plus side this Bevmo have a massive selection in a cavernous store. Very strong on good whiskys and whiskies, vodkas and the more obscure liquors that make an interesting cocktails. Very good beer selection too, nice to see someone stocking ESB. Wine selections are good, is a little pricey at times. Above all the staff at this store are lovely - helpful, informative and very polite. A small downside is it's Bevmo - the prices are just above what you could buy elsewhere and you pay for the convenience. The big downside of this store is the lines - particularly since COVID the number of check out staff assigned has led to a long wait shuffling a cart along. Staff do there best but management needs to rethink priorities. read more

I have to state upfront that this review is heavily conditioned by the world being in the grips of COVID-19 right now, but it wouldn't be more than MAYBE 2 stars more at the very most based on my many visits here over the months and years. This is the 2nd time that I've made an online order (as at the time, online was the only form of purchase BevMo was supporting) and had to wait well over an hour for the miracle "your order is ready" email. It makes no sense that management can't see that despite the current conditions, people are still buying alcohol. Translation - staff your stores better!! When you've got non-stop people walking up wanting to buy and not knowing it's online only plus a constant line of people walking up saying "would my order happen to be ready? It's past the time slot I was given", you should not be cutting staff. Get your act together BevMo corporate/franchise owners/whatever. You aren't handling these times well at all. Keep it up and eventually the bad taste left won't be sated by "10% off $75". There's plenty of competition out there. read more

I was n the area and looking for some soft drinks. Figured i would try here, i found a 12 pack of Coke ($7.99. INSANE!) but i just wanted to relax at the motel, so i carried it to the register. There was a customer finishing up their purchase, i stayed more than 6 feet away (wearing my covid mask)... the bushy headed white kid behind the register looks at me and tells me to step back to the red sticker on the floor.... i had to look around before seeing the sticker (aprox 12' behind me) it clearly says to maintain 6 feet on the sticker. With a laugh i place the 12 pack on a display and walk out the door... they need a tape measure. I went to Target and got a 12 pack for $4. Get real people! read more

This is my go to place when I need spirits, liquors and wines not covered by good ol' Costco. It's big enough to offer an excellent selection of jiust about everything, and the staff are always helpful and know their stuff. A specual thanks to Jeff and Marla (Marla has always been amazing *every time*) for help on a recent visit. I was recovering from knee surgery and they went above and beyond to help me find what I needed and get it to my car. If only every place had the customer service this place has. BewMo here is larger than most Bev's, space wise. not sure if they carry more inventory. the walk to the register is longer. the lines here lacked integrity as other Bev's where one long line breaks feeds cashier's station as they become available. (ala Fry's. Trader Joe's. ) that's not what happens here. shoppers just go to the shorter line, skipping the long singular line. so 3 stars brew: Rogue hazelnut brown nectar (6.49)5.6% alc. -sweet and boozy, seldom see Rogue discounted except at Trader's or was it Gro Outlet? on draught: -sale due to overstock from New Year's disappointing sales. read more

I have rarely, if ever, received such good customer service on a consistent basis from all the staff. As a bourbon collector, it's important to me find the right labels at a good price, and I can usually find it at this BevMo location. Thank you Marla and team for the great service. Warning: DO NOT order online for an in-store pick up. My order had a pick up window of 1:30 - 2:30. I stopped by around 2ish and was asked if I received an email confirming the order was ready for pick. I didn't. No worries...had a couple of errands to run, I can swing back by a bit later. It is now 6:45 still no email. No one is answering the phone, so requesting a credit to my card is not an option. I understand these are trying times, but BevMo isn't up for this particular service. Imagine my surprise when I discovered I had not reviewed this store. It's our local BevMo and we've shopped here for decades, buying wine for me and beer for Alan when he could drink it. We've also bought vermouth and other liquor, as well as Casa Sanchez chips. We've even bought glassware. I came in last week to buy some Lustau East India Solara sherry because I had used up the Rancho de Philo sherry I had bought a couple of years ago and that's what I used to buy here before I was introduced to Rancho de Philo. I spoke w/ a man who may have been the manager. He checked and said they had a couple of cases on order. He took my name and said he'd call me when it came in in a day or two. I called a few days later and it was not yet in. But I noticed they also had the Grahams Six Grapes port I like and had been buying from Costco, so I will definitely be back. read more
