I stopped by this CVS to pickup an online order as this location was on my way home and my local CVS was out of stock on the item I needed. There was a bit of a line, but only 1 cashier at the time tending to the customers. When I informed the cashier that I was picking up an online order, I was directed to a white bin located on the outside of the counter to grab my own order. A bit odd, but I guess this store runs their online pickup on an honor system? They have their own decently sized parking lot so parking shouldn't be an issue. read more

My overall experience with the pharmacy itself over several years has varied from two stars to five stars. However, my one star experience today with trying (and failing, three times) to reach the pharmacy staff by phone while being thwarted by their new AI "virtual assistant" (which cut me off three times without letting me get as far as leaving a message) leaves me suspecting that the only way I'll be able to talk to a pharmacy staff member (most of whom are pleasant and efficient) in the future will be by appearing in person. I may have to cut my losses and look for a pharmacy with either accessible live phone contact or better AI programming. read more

Pharmacy is utterly incompetent and rude. They lose prescriptions, hang up on you when calling to inquire about prescriptions, dispense incorrect amounts of controlled medications, and talk negatively about customers behind the counter. They tried to charge co-pays because of mistakes in their billing insurance. Transferred all of my medications to get out of this cess pool. A couple good pharmacists like Jia are outweighed by the terrible service, lack of care, and incompetence of the rest of the team. I would give negative stars if I could because this CVS pharmacy is messing up royally in such an important avenue as healthcare and medication dispensing. UNACCEPTABLE. read more

Shopping at this CVS is extremely painful, and it is entirely the fault of the store's management (not employees). The store is always understaffed, and everything in the aisles is locked and requires employee help to open. But with the store having only 1-2 working employees at a time, calling over an employee to unlock items for you can leave you waiting for 5-10 minutes just for a simple tube of toothpaste. This also means that checking out your items takes an unnecessarily long time, as the store employees are splitting time between helping unlock items and scanning purchases. It's so disappointing that CVS's management is completely aware of this understaffing problem and could easily fix it, but does nothing to address it. read more

NIGHTMARE. Berkeley store on Telegraph: I was confronted by 10 middle school boys who blocked the door. When I squeezed past them without saying "excuse me" they ganged up on me and followed me around the store surrounding me, saying I owed them an apology and yelling epithets. When I called Berkeley police, they blew me off because there was a security guard there...a guy in a polo shirt and jeans, no uniform, who seemed to think this was all amusing. When I escaped I called CVS corporate and told them what happened. I called the middle school (across the street) and told them what their student hoodlums had done to me. Went to the back pharmacy, assuming they'd have masks(as I'm sick and don't want to get others sick), and I said "excuse me" and a young guy behind the counter immediately says "I don't know where anything is" and turns away. I then proceed to say "all I am looking for is a mask because I am sick and don't want to get others in the store sick" and his response is once again harsh, sharp, and completely disregarding anything I said. read more

While most of the pharmacists and technicians are nice, there is almost always a line, and just recently there have been problems with the autofill option for my prescription. Their computer says that my prescription is supposed to be refilled automatically, but it's not happening. The pharmacist gave me a help line to call. When I called the help line I was able to speak to someone, but she was not immediately able to fix the problem. Instead, she would have to write up a help request ticket for someone else to fix it. The person on the phone with me said that the technicians or the pharmacist at the store have a help line that they can call, but for some reason they didn't know, or they didn't want to call. Overall, it seems that CVS hasn't done a good job setting up their computer systems, and they are unable to provide timely assistance to staff and customers. read more

I cannot stress enough how terrible the service at this CVS Pharmacy is. The pharmacist only fills medications that are readily accessible, constantly complaining about "supply problems" that are supposedly out of their control. They do not inform customers about anything regarding their orders, which forces you to endure long waits by phone or in person just to be told, once again, about the "supply problem." They feign placing the order, and when you hear nothing, you're right back to the start of the same frustrating conversation. This isn't just a one-time issue; it happens repeatedly with my medications and my kids'. It's a theme clearly heard while waiting in line from other frustrated customers. This CVS has no interest in solving any of its customers' problems; they only fill prescriptions that are available on whatever regular deliveries come in. If you or your family depend on timely medication, this pharmacy is a very bad choice. Avoid it if you value your health and sanity. read more

The service here yes to be pretty decent but the new crew is less willing to provide the most basic level of service. My sons inhaler was no longer covered by my insurance and of course my insurance failed to notify me. I asked the pharmacist if they could choose a similar but option. The previous team had no problem doing in fact that was exactly how I discovered it was an offered service. unfortunately I had to contact my doctor who was coincidentally on a leave of absence. The on-call doctor struggled to provide me with a brand that was covered. We nearly ran out of my son's medication. Thankfully I started the process early enough of that we had run out. I recommend this CVS location for picking up prescriptions. The pharmacy staff is helpful & courteous, parking is plentiful! I have not encountered any problems at all. In fact I recommend this pharmacy to my friends when they complain about other pharmacies in the area. Sometimes there is a line - understandable. Lots of pharmacies in the area have been closed in the last few years, funneling traffic to this one. The one thing they could improve upon, is that the line to wait for the pharmacy naturally occurs down the feminine hygiene and 'intimate sundries' aisle. Every time I am standing in the line the poor shoppers are sheepishly excusing themselves to the line-waiters, as they reach past to make their tampon/diva cup/pantiliner/ 'family planning' selections. read more

I know people get mixed service at CVS and drug stores in general. But I have to say the pharmacists have always been great at this location. This is a very busy store, and just yesterday, they again took the time to explain what was going on with my insurance and helped me solve the issue. I know we all want to get in and out of these types of stores, but please be nice to the pharmacy staff, and in my experience, they will help you. And try to remember these people work with hundreds of people per day and have to deal with insurance companies and within their own bureaucracy daily - a little patience and kindness go a long way. read more

This is for the pharmacy only. Bad, snide service here just about every time, as you can see in the many reviews. One time I walked up to counter, and the pharmacist slammed the gate down in my face, and said it was lunchtime. She waited until I had walked up to the counter to close it, she had seen me approaching from 100 feet away. Another tech argued with me about a medication I was getting. When I showed him I was correct, no apology, no acknowledgement, just a sullen look on his face. Another time a tech refused to process the gift card I had on my phone, saying they don't do that at the pharmacy. All this changed today. A pharmacist greeted me from behind her work station, and Michael was as pleasant as could be, with a very positive attitude. He also processed my online gift card. Maybe corporate has seen enough of the negative reviews, and put some nice people at this pharmacy? The other store employees are very nice all the time. read more

One of the cashiers is busying doing a return, so only one cashier is actually ringing up customers and getting people out of the store. CVS is a convenient drug store perfect for quick runs to get soaps, makeup, or snacks. [The store] The store is generally pretty organized. They have a pharmacy, photo printing area, and wide variety of household goods, snacks, makeup, alcohol, etc.... I personally think that their deals are better than walgreens or safeway. I usually come here for all my makeup, feminine care, and household goods. [The service] Employees at CVS are pretty welcoming. They offer their support to the best of their ability. They always ask if you have a CVS card (its free!) which offers discounts on their items and usually gives a ton of coupons for the next time you visit. (the only downside is that the coupons expire pretty fast- I guess its a way to keep you coming back often) [The photo printing] I've had some good runs and bad runs with their photo printing services. I would say its about 50/50. On a good day of photo printing you are given two options: in seconds service or one hour service. I usually choose the in-seconds service. The kiosk system they use has various ways to get your photos printed (usb, phone- you have to download their kiosk connect app if using wifi, facebook/social media) and they have many different formats from collages, prints/enlargements/ calendars, gift items, etc... On a bad run with printing, for example today there was a note that says please pick one hour service (you actually don't end up waiting for an hour), but with photo printing employees often times don't know how to manage the system. I ended up getting my photos (although it took 30 minutes longer than i expected). The system can be wonky at times, but usually they post notes letting the customer know, so its nothing unexpected. I got basic prints (4x6) at about 0.30 cent per print and i printed about 6 of them, which came out to 1.92 plus a 0.90 cent discount because the employee had a coupon on hand. read more

I'm writing this review primarily to commend the great customer service experience I had with Karina, the cashier who I completed my purchase with. I was here to use a 40% off one product CVS ExtraCare discount that would be expiring tomorrow and decided to get a huge container of fish oil/omega 3 softgels. Karina was very friendly with both the customers ahead of me and with me, which I really appreciated, since I know from working customer service myself it can be pretty exhausting to keep that up in a way that still comes off as genuine especially if you've been on your feet all day. I was worried that even after providing my phone number to apply my CVS account that the deal would not go through since there was some details on the deal saying the discount excludes sale items or something like that. When I brought this up to Karina as I wasn't seeing the discount apply on the little monitor where you swipe your card to pay, she quickly went and applied the discount for me. There were also some issues with the printer for the receipts so at first I was just going to leave once I had paid, but she called for me to come back since she managed to make it work and that way I could get the printout of a $2 Extrabucks and some other deals. So, major props to Karina for a memorably positive experience! I've had a decent experience with this store location overall too, it's big enough for me to be able to find more things I need, the staff have been fine, and it is both near the AC Transit 6 line and has its own parking lot. read more

Been going here for years, and have had about a 90% rate of being frustrated, condescended to, and disappointed with their lack of fairly basic options, and that applies both to the pharmacy counter as well as the store itself. DO NOT TRUST the posted store hours for either. To be safe, add an hour to the front end for when they open, and subtract one from the back end when they close. Be prepared for them to loudly discuss the medications you are on, and even have strange spontaneous explosive arguments amongst themselves if any such meds you take have a 'potential interaction' with any other med you might be taking, as they assume 100% of the time that your doctor is an idiot, and their little database of all known interactions under the sun is equal to or greater than the 4 years it takes to get an MD plus the 3-7ish more it takes to do an MD residency. And if it's anything related to an issue with a social stigma attached, trust me that it's not your imagination that they suddenly are treating you like a leper. But other than the poor selection of stuff, the incorrect posted hours of business, and the more often than not rude behavior, it's a convenient way to pick up your meds and stock up on a few other random things you might be low on (if you're lucky and they have it in stock). read more

This CVS pharmacy is horrible. Every time I've come to pick up my prescription I have a bad experience. I wait in line for 20+ minutes only for them to not give me my prescription or be rude. The male pharmacist screamed at me today, I am a 20 year old woman. I've never had so much trouble anywhere else, and I only come to this location because my old pharmacy closed. If you have a car and are able to go to a different location I would recommend you do so. read more

The female pharmacist with the Eastern European accent is extremely rude, both in person, and on the phone. Would give 0 stars if I could. I recently ran out of meds I need to take regularly because my mail order pharmacy didn't ship them on time. The rep from my insurance tried to call in an "express coverage" prescription at this local pharmacy so I wouldn't have to go days without it. This pharmacist interrupted and hung up on her! And in person, she has interrupted even her colleagues, saying "SHE HAS TO WAAAAIT!" Not all of the pharmacists at this location are this rude, but due to her repeatedly unprofessional and nasty behavior, I will never fill a script here again! If you don't like your job, don't take it out on the customers. DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU! - Ie, don't treat everyone so horribly! Thank God there are other nearby choices. I actually don't mind this CVS. It's spacious, perpetually busy and I love seeing the college kids stock up on the 30 racks of natty ice and cheap bubbly. Ahhhh, college. If you sign up for their extra care card they send you weekly coupons. They usually involve 30% off and in addition, they usually have some solid sales going on. They have all your pharmacy store needs, a fairly large beauty/hair section and a solid amount of grocery items/snacks along with a huge selection of beer, wine and liquor for a CVS. There's plenty of parking, which I'm sure is helpful for many. First of all, this is much cheaper than the Walgreens on the intersection of Telegraph and Bancroft, probably because that Walgreens is right across the street of campus, so the prices are inflated due to convenience. Sure, this is several blocks south of campus, but not too bad of a trek if you have time. I always stock up on items such as shampoos, conditioners, lotions, face creams, sunscreens, and eye creams when there are sales, which there are plenty of if you search for them or wait for them. TIP: Get a CVS card. It's easier to get discounts this way. read more

We tried to place an order for an online poster for same day pick up at the CVS. When we tried to place the order online, we kept getting issues with the system. We tried calling the store, and the call got hung up on two times. Once we called the store and someone picked up we were able to speak with someone from the photo department who helped us out. We were trying to figure out the situation and what went wrong and eventually got put on with the manager, Tamira. Once we got on the phone with her She went above and beyond to help us. When we couldn't figure something out, she worked from her and to try and fix it. She was the reason we were able to print our poster. Her customer service and help with her order was 10 out of 10. Once we got to the store, Tamira was there and she helped us again. While she was gone, however, we did talk with someone else at the store and The other employee was much less accommodating. However, I definitely think it's worth four stars because Tamira went above and beyond for us (without her the experience would've been totally unsuccessful). read more

This review pertains SOLELY to my experience with the pharmacy and not the establishment in its entirety: I had absolutely no issue with this CVS pharmacy until my last 2 visits. There are definitely a couple of kind souls working there, but overall my interactions with others on the phone have been terrible. I needed a prescription that had run out of refills. No problem-- I call my doctor, get it sorted out and they fax in a prescription refill form. I wait for about a week to receive the text message from CVS but hear nothing, so I call in to check and they tell me they didn't receive anything. Weird, but I call my doctor and ask what's happening. They tell me they have sent it in MULTIPLE times after receiving requests. Again, I go back to the pharmacy to inquire about the status of my prescription that at this point I'm overdue for. The pharmacy then tells me they haven't received anything, and I try my best to explain that my doctor has sent it in multiple times. A few more rounds of this game of phone tag and finally my doctor talks directly to them and I get the prescription (which should not have been difficult since my old CVS was able to refill a prescription with no problem). I figure I'll overlook it, and continue to use them. Until today's encounter. Again, my prescription needs refills so I call my doctor and sort that out, and she sends the refill information SAME day I called her. I patiently wait for the CVS text confirmation but of course, nothing. At this point I vaguely know what's about to happen, so I don't bother waiting the full week and I call CVS within a couple of days. The same thing happens, but this time with a fun twist: I'm on hold with the pharmacy for an HOUR before they decide to hang up on me. By this point I'm frustrated, and I call back and wait my turn in line again. I try to calmly explain to the pharmacist who finally picks up that my doctor sent in my prescription information, that yes I'm sure because this same thing happened last time but she was incredibly rude and dismissive. She even had the audacity to lie and say "They haven't called, we're waiting for a call." I tried to explain that they wouldn't call because they simply don't have time to wait an hour on the phone to refill a prescription and that they faxed it over, and she hits me with the "Well we don't have a fax." Huh? I call my doctor and explain all this to her, and she tells me "Interesting, because they JUST faxed over another request." I hate to give terrible reviews because I know we all have good and bad days, but there is a point where some things just cannot be tolerated. If you need your medication in a timely manner I would NOT recommend this CVS pharmacy. read more

Saw multiple patrons try to enter between 9:55-10:05pm too (presumably they came based on the posted Yelp hours), and everyone was turned away. Please update your hours posted so others in need of medication also don't get harmed. My daughter made an appointment online for a flu shot. She is a college student in the area. She submitted all insurance information and received a confirmation of appointment. When she arrived she was told that they do not accept our insurance. This is absolutely wrong as our family gets a flu shot from CVS every year without issue. She took time from her schedule to be turned away. They didn't even attempt to resolve the issue by contacting insurance to verify. Will never go back to this location!!!!! read more
