Getting my truck smogged was just one more thing to do in a day that already had too much going on, so I am especially thrilled with Vallejo Smog Test Only Center. I was greeted warmly as soon as I entered the building, I was told in advance that it would be about 20 minutes (it was actually less), and they took my truck in right away to get it smogged. Both of the men who helped me were friendly and helpful. The first one offered me coffee while I waited and said good bye as I pulled off, and the man who took my payment was nice, courteous, and reminded me to pay the registration right away. This is the second time I have used this center and I will be back in the future the next time I need a smog test. Highly recommended. read more

Have used them for all my cars for gosh 8 years. its set back from the road a bit so the first time you try to find it might be problematic. Knowing you will have to have a smog test this year doesn't make the event any less of an ordeal. Just knowing that it's usually a hassle to find a good one at a reasonable price is the main issue. A friend spoke highly of a shop called "Vallejo Smog Test" so we figured we'd give them a try. The person behind the counter was very friendly and efficient as she took our paperwork and said they'd take care of it. There were several people in the spacious waiting area, but we opted to wait outside. I was expecting to wait awhile, but was pleasantly surprised to see how those guys got the cars in, did the necessary tests and were done. I'm sure were done in less than 45 minutes. I would recommend them to everyone for their next smog test. You can't beat it, friendly, efficient employees, quick service and a great price. A+ in my book! read more

This place is full of positive reviews here, their website, and their shop--and those reviews are all fake. I went here mostly looking for a place without a line and didn't realize I should have looked for places with no retest fees. First test, car passed. But the station intentionally and fraudulently made it fail claiming they couldn't read a part number. Could've just looked harder or used a mirror. They could've justed used a mirror. They did this so they could charge a retest fee. On the first test, they also intentionally made the engine light come on by trying to make the car's computer not recognize the new catalytic converter, though it didn't kick in until after the test. So my mechanic brought them a signed affidavit of the part number, but they demanded a retest to get another retest fee. Second test, car passed again. But my mechanic somehow informed them about the engine light so they knew, "Oh we know how to make it come on now." Then they got it to come on intentionally during the test just to try to charge me another retest fee. Second time they literally virtually laughed at me with and had this attitude like, "haha we're scamming you and taking your money". They charge a retest fee so they're whole motive is to charge that fee over and over. Again car fine, then once they get ahold of it, they damage it. Also after the first test, they broke my inside door handle. But I have no way to prove this except me word so I'm screwed again. Both times, my car litterally had almost zero emmissions. Its emissions were nearly as low as a hybrid car! Also watch out as they put the emergency brake on when they park your car on the parking lot after the test. And new car with a working parking gear doesn't need this and so it's pretty much never done. I'm glad I noticed this both times as if you go there and don't, it'll damage your car. This place is a scam shop motivated purely on charging people as many retest fees as possible. Unfortunately, the state of California doesn't care about the smog check shops that fraudulently make cars fail, only ones that fraudulently make them pass or this place would lose their license. I will have to go to a different smog check station later as dealing with the second test took all day Friday. (Oh and yes their lines are sometimes long.) read more

I have 5 vehicles and always go to Vallejo Smog for my smog checks. I no longer check for the best price, because I trust Mike and Rich and like the friendly reception that I always get. Not to mention that I'm only there for about 15 minutes. They used to serve donuts and coffee, but I've only seen coffee recently which is just as fine. read more

This place is only great as long as long as your car passes. I took one of my other vehicles here before, which passed and I had the same glowing reviews as the other reviews here. So I returned to have a second car tested. When my car failed, Richard referred me to a local shop for repairs. I had the repairs performed and returned only to have the car fail again. So when I asked the desk girl how this could be she got argumentative and told me they never refer customers to specific repair shops. Not only that I had to pay for the failed retest. I was walking towards the when someone from this test center approached me and wanted to know if I wanted a smog test done on my car. At this point, I asked him how much it would cost and he told me with the coupon I had (I did not show him a coupon, I was only holding a magazine of coupons which had a $25 off coupon) it would cost me $60. The way he talked to me was quite rude, so I left and found Marin Smog which charged me only $48. read more

I can't believe this place has such a high rating. They charged me over $80.00 and my car failed. They recommended a place to have it repaired. That place (Rendevous) quoted me $160.00 just to look at my car. I took it to my mechanic in Marin and he fixed a coil and plug for $120.00. I took it back to Vallejo Smog and they charged me an additional $42.00. This place is a huge rip off. WOMEN beware! read more

I've gotten my cars smogged here a few times now, and it's always such an easy and pleasant transaction. I'm one of those guys that doesn't know cars at all, and I always feel like mechanics and service centers (even test only smog centers!) try to take advantage of that by charging me for extraneous things that aren't necessary, or quoting me long turn around times since I don't know any better. As such, taking my car into a mechanic for repairs, or even just doing something super simple like getting a smog can be such a nail biting experience. That is certainly not the case here. The lady at the front desk, Jessica, is super personable and inviting, and doesn't in any way make me feel belittled like 95% of other car service receptionists that I've dealt with. To make matters even better, these folks are super quick and efficient at what they do. Even when I've brought my car in during a busy rush period, I've never been standing in the waiting area for more than 30 minutes. The rates can be a little high, but I'll pay a little extra money for good service any day. You get what you pay for, and here you're not just paying for the smog, you're paying to drive away with a smile on your face. Keep up the good work all! read more

Apparently it's rated "The Best of Vallejo" for 2010-2012. I guess since there are several places to go to in Vallejo to do a normal 10 minute test, one would think this place would shine in other areas. The guy I talked to on the phone was great and mentioned a $30 discount by mentioning Google. The reason for the 3 star had to do with the woman at the desk who processes the transactions. Right away, not the friendliest of demeanor and writes up the order without asking for a coupon. She seemed irritated to now have to cross out the original price she wrote. I can go anywhere for a smog check for this price, why would I return to a place that doesn't even appreciate it's customers. Quick service by the tech which is appreciated. read more

Did it help that I was the only one there on a Saturday morning? Maybe. But I have to say that everyone I spoke to here was polite and service oriented. This place is the absolute best in the biz!!! 4 real I've been bringing all my cars here for a couple of years now and I do a lot of wheeling and dealing so I see them about 4 times a year recently I brought in my 92 Cadillac and I can't say enough about the smog tecs bottom line they know what they are doing my Cadillac had some trouble passing but the tec took the time and didn't give up until it passed! They genuinely and actually want your car to pass smog! I love this place and appreciate they're hard work I've been to other places where the sec it don't pass they give up and collect full payment these guys have a coupon out there for the newer cars if it don't pass u don't pay!
