This is defo my fave coffee joint in the 253. The staff are always super welcoming and they're coffee is great! Plus they generally have a good soundtrack backdrop that I appreciate. If you're in the mood for some strong coffee this is certainly worth hitting up-- they're 16oz drinks are all quads which will have you buzzing around like a lunatic in 3 mins flat. You can also buy they're bulk beans which are a joy to have at home. That said, you can't pull an espresso at home like they do here. This is a great coffee spot. Don't come here for food, they have none, don't come for fast coffee, they take their time, DO come here for awesome, friendly-enough people who make great coffee. I usually get a latte but have tried their pour over and americanos and they are both excellent. Some added bonus awesomeness: 1) they have crayons and coloring pages for kids 2) some outdoor bench seating 3) they have a handsome, old-timey looking coffee roaster which they use, I've only seen it in action on weekdays. It's in the store where you can see it unobstructed. Overall, a great spot for nom coffee and good vibe! 11/20/2018 update. 6 STARS!!!! The kind gentleman roasting beans took the time, at least 15 mins, to show my 11 y/o son the whole process: scooping beans out of the bags, loading them in the roaster, cooling the beans, all the good stuff. This place probably has very good coffee. It is small and local and you can tell it has a devoted following. The baristas were nice. Just 3 stars because after I ordered I noticed there were 8 or 9 empty cups on the counter by the espresso machine and I thought uh oh.... Those were all drinks waiting to be made so i've been waiting 15 minutes now for my coffee. Oh em geeee. Such a gem. The coffee is smooth and robust. The staff, this last visit, were quick and helpful. (prior visits not so much) I order straight shots of espresso with a splash of cream and a packet of raw sugar. Ordered so simply lets the coffee stand out - and it shines. My friend lives very close to this location. I stayed the night and offered to grab coffee in the morning. She suggested Valhalla. She mentioned they have Oat milk! So I was sold! I went over and grabbed a vanilla oat milk latte. It was absolutely delicious. Drove an hour and a half to get a bag of coffee here today. Yeah I like it. I love it that they roast it on the premises and when I say I need something very fresh they've got the dates their different coffee was roasted, written right on it. They've also got organic. If you ask for a latte takes a little time, I must warn you, but I think they're just perfecting each drink. It is very good when I finally get it. The people working there are really nice. I really enjoyed my interaction with the cashier today. I have bought coffee here a lot, but am not consistent enough for anyone to know me here, but I was treated today like an old friend. Extremely hipster coffeeshop with a really friendly staff. What is rough around the edges at this cafe is made up for by the pleasant demeanor of their baristas. This is the roastery for Valhalla and you can see all the roasting equipment adjacent to the counter. I was pretty happy with my latte here, but the work environment was a bit rustic for me. They had a number of chairs and tables, it was just a bit worn. But I wouldn't totally rule it out. On the day I dropped by there was nobody else there at 3pm. Another guest stopped by as I was leaving. So service was very quick and efficient. The baristas were excellent, and my latte was perfection including some decent latte art. The flavor of the espresso was pretty good--not the best I've ever had but definitely a nice flavor. Maybe I'd get used to the taste of the roaster over time, but I only had one opportunity to try this place out. So I thought it was pretty good. There was plenty of parking on the street nearby despite this being on a busy thoroughfare. read more

This cozy coffee shop offers good coffee and coffee accessories. I drove down this weekend to visit a friend, the coffee was pretty good but the space is super tight. On top of that they have an extremely limited menu which was kind of disappointing. That being said what I did end up with was very good and the prices were pretty reasonable. read more
