Really disappointed. Wavering between a 2 star and 3 star review, went with 3 based on my long history of enjoying Valentino's pizza. When in the area I have always tried to stop in for a couple of slices, and at one time would have rated it as #2 Pizza place in South Bay (after Bonello's in Torrance). No longer. Almost no sauce on pizza, it was like eating cheese bread. If that's what you are after, go for it. For completeness, its counter order and they will bring your order to you. Indoor tables look to be removed. A nice touch is they have packets of parmesan cheese and pepper flakes. Would I return...probably yes only to see if this disappointment was just a bad day. read more

It pains me to write this review. Valentino's was always a solid pizza. The South Bay isn't exactly a mecca for pizza lovers! Valentinos used to have a decent crust, with a decent crisp to it. If you are from NY, you know! The last several pizzas have been super floppy...just limp. In addition, I picked up a large to go yesterday and it was 25.00, I expect to pay that on delivery, but pick up? Seems excessive for what it is. Not impressed. I wanted to love my pizza at best or like it at least. It was listed as best pizza near me, possibly all of South Bay. However, our medium meat lovers was meh. The meat looked odd and Canadian bacon taste and looked like thin bologna. Our side salad was lazy. The pizza crust was not strong enough to support its toppings but it at least tasted nice. If this is the best local NY style pizza, I will unfortunately b return to Detroit style elsewhere. Frozen pizzas at Whole Foods will suffice as well. The service at Valentino's was friendly and efficient. The restaurant offers seating outdoors. Not much space inside the waiting area to eat indoors. Parking is a private lot for the retail plaza. My preferences for a pizza is thin crust (preferably crispy), quality ingredients and not too salty. VP pretty much hit the mark. I got a medium pepperoni and mushroom pizza to go. The crust was thin. The cheese was nice and gooey and the mushrooms were fresh. The sauce was pleasantly tart. I usually asked for my pizzas to be well done to get that crisp factor but decided to get this one as is to sample their regular baking style. I love this place! They have one of my favorite tuna sandwiches and the bread is great. The regular NYC pizza is my favorite slice in LA and they have anchovies! The spinach pizza and the Sicilian pizza are also tasty. They also have some simple Italian fare if you desire that. All in all, this is tasty food that is simple and delicious! Had my once in a decade Valentinos this past weekend. Went with a large cheese pizza. Pizza is still mostly the same. The dough and crust on this pizza was a tad off though. It was like the dough didn't rise. No air bubbles really, a very dense dough/crust, and one slice even had the dough folded underneath it in the middle of a slice. Not sure what happened. Still had the great Valentinos cheese and sauce though. I enjoyed my slices. They STILL have the most employees of all time, all huddled behind that counter. Never seen anything like it in my life, and its been this way since I was a teenager lol. read more

I usually enjoy Valentino's and have gone there many times -- the pizza is usually delicious. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was very disappointing. I placed a phone order for a small pizza with extra cheese and pepperoni, along with a salad. When I arrived 30 minutes later, I was told my order wasn't ready yet. I went ahead and paid ($37.60, plus a tip even though it was pickup), and then continued to wait. While waiting, I noticed one of the employees making pizzas without gloves. At one point, he scraped toppings off a pizza with his bare hands and put it back together, which I found unsanitary. When my order was finally called, they gave me a large pizza I hadn't ordered -- then after correcting it, the small pizza I received was folded in half in the box. When I pointed this out, instead of remaking it, the employee just "fixed" it. The final bill also didn't match what I should have been charged (my order came to $35.83, not $37.60). Between the hygiene concerns, mistakes on my order, and being overcharged, this experience really soured me on a place I used to enjoy. Sadly, I don't think I'll be returning. read more

Honestly, I wasn't expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with the NY slice I got! While it's not exactly like a New York slice, it wasn't overly chewy, was foldable while eating, and had an excellent tomato sauce / cheese / pep ratio. It was a little under $7 after tax and tip. There are a few tables outside the shop and it's a great snack to gnaw on while you wait for your laundry to dry next door. Service was excellent and they brought my slice out directly to me. They also had crushed pepper flakes, parmesan, and various dry condiments to put on the pizza. I don't think there's a restroom but most people seem to here for a quick slice and to pick up orders. Parking is easy every time I've been there and they share a lot with two other businesses. read more

Inflation is real. That being said, Valentino's pizza is a cheap drunk man's pie. $30 for a large pepperoni from this restaurant is outright price gouging. It's just not overpriced, it's beyond that. read more

The pizza was good, but someone needs to call the Health Dept or speak to a manager because there's a worker who takes the buns out of the oven and used his bare hands to move them off the baking tray. I just completed a food safety course and this is NOT acceptable; restaurant employees must use single-use gloves when handling food that customers will be eating. read more

Small parking lot, but easy to get in and out. Very friendly staff, and awesome pizza. I'm originally from the east coast and this was the best pizza we've had since being here. Give them a try if you want great pizza from a friendly place. read more

I have been ordering Valentino's for 15 years - and I order at least once a month. I was called by the driver today that my order was outside, I heard no doorbell or "ring" notification and sure enough the driver wasn't there. Then, I call back immediate, twice and no answer. So, I call Valentino's and tell them, they put me on hold and while I am on hold the driver calls and says he's 10 minutes away. I told him the pizza will be cold and I'm on hold with Valentinos. The Valentinos guy gets on and says my pizza is at my house. I tell him it's not and the driver just told me he's 10 minutes away! I told them to send me a new order asap. Then the driver comes to my house and tried to give me the pizza. I told him to stop lying to me and his bosses. I wasn't going to be lied to twice and take the pizza. It's not right. Came here out of convenience because it's walkable and don't think we'll be ordering again. We got the largest size they offered and it was very small compared to any other pizzeria. Crust was hard and crunchy, not enjoyable. The overall flavor was just very plain - added some garlic powder and oregano from my pantry on top to give it some much needed flavor. But, the price keeps going up and up. As for their chicken parm sandwich, it is very lacking. It is cut up in chunks, and it is not appetizing. I would not recommend it. I've heard great reviews from people about this place. Thought I had it at a party and did not like it but could not remember if it was this place or somewhere else. So, I thought I give it a try myself. The place is located on Aviation, which is a busy street through suburbs. It is in a small plaza shared with a liquor store and a laundry mat. Parking is limited, or park on the street, which usually have a beer truck delivering beer to the liquor store or the bar across the street. Inside is just the counter and the kitchen. There is nowhere to sit inside. They set up 2 small tables outside with 2 chairs each table. So, don't plan on eating here unless you're dining by yourself or with one other person. Now for the food. They have hot and cold sandwiches, pasta, calzones, and, of course, pizza. Pizza is Sicilian or New York style. Default is cheese (which tasted like cheddar) and you add your toppings for $1.10 each topping. I had the "New York" style with salami on one slice and sausage on another slice. I put "New York" in quotes but their pizza boxes says "Brooklyn". Yes, Brooklyn is in the state of New York but Brooklyn pizza is different from New York pizza. If you know the difference, set your expectation accordingly. Since they had cheese pizzas sitting around, they simply places the topping on top of the pizza and reheated it. So, the toppings were not cooked into the cheese and sauce, which to me, makes a difference. The pizza was thin and had a hard crust. It had some crisp throughout it. It had a thin layer of cheese and sauce. If they cooked the toppings while making the pizza, I would've like it more. Personally, I don't like it when the toppings just slides off the pizza, and I like it cheesy. This isn't my style of pizza but I've heard other rave about it. So, to each their own. The flavor of the cheese and sauce was tasty though. The only staff I interacted with was the cashier lady. She was nice. She knew it was my first time going in as I stood there looking at the menu on the wall. Regulars wouldn't take long to order. She pointed to a "combo" to help me make a decision. I think it was the same price if you added up the individual items in the combo. But it was easier and quicker to order knowing the combo. read more

There are a lot of pizza options in the Manhattan Beach/North Redondo Beach area, and Valentino's is certainly one of them. The food is neither good nor bad, it's pretty much meh. But, you know you are getting meh, and you order meh, so you can't really complain about meh. We take turns picking lunch each day at the office, and Valentino's certainly wasn't my choice (I much prefer LaRocco's, a bit further, but well worth the ten minute drive), but I figured since the company was paying, I'd be fine with Meh food from Valentino's. We ordered at 11:36 am through Valentino's on line site using their delivery agent of choice (Menufly). Delivery was set for 45 minutes later. Time passed. Then more time passed. And then even more time passed. After more than an hour we contacted Valentino's only to be told that for unknown reasons, the food was ready, but it couldn't be delivered. Thanks for the head's up! (Not). We sent an employee over to pick up the food at 1:35 pm (two hours after ordering lunch), and lo and behold, only part of the order was ready. For yet another reason unknown, the sandwich had not been prepared, but the pizza, pasta and salad were ready, and based upon the temperature of those items, apparently had been ready for a significant period of time. The less-than-helpful attendant at Valentino's claimed that there was a miscommunication, inferring that we had done something wrong the order. When I explained that we had ordered directly from the Valentino's site, she admitted that the miscommunication was between Valentino's and their chosen delivery service, MenuFly. Ultimately, we received the sandwich along with the less than fresh remainder of our order, and we were off back to the office. Of course, Valentino's/MenuFly charged us a $8.52 delivery fee for what would have been a 0.6 mile trip had Valentino's/MenuFly actually delivered the food, as well as a $1.50 (lack of) convenience fee. We also pretipped the driver $5.00 through Valentino's/MenuFly, with an additional tip waiting upon delivery. Of course, there was no delivery, so I'm not certain as to where the $5.00 tip went, or to whom, nor am I certain about the delivery fee or (lack of) convenience fee. Bottom line, the food was worse than the expected "meh," we spent over $15.,00 on a delivery that never happened, and our lunch arrived (via our own employee) two hours after we ordered.
