I have been curious about this restaurant since I moved to this area. Finally, on a Friday night I had my chance to check it out. My best friend and I made a reservation and when we arrived the line was out the door. From my experience with restaurants this is a great sign. We did inform a waiter that we had a reservation. He let us know it would be a few minutes because it was a full house. It didn't take long for us to be seated. Our waitress directed us to our table we had to walk through the kitchen to get to the other side of the restaurant. Omg! it was so exciting it felt like we were in a movie. We were sat in a booth. During this time, I had time to look around. Wow from the painted ceiling to the decor and dim lights, I was truly amazed by the ambiance. My friend asked about the specialty drink called the red devil margarita that she noticed on by the front door. We found out that it was a margarita with red wine on top. She ordered it and said it was so good. I decided on a mule, and you can't go wrong with a mule. It was good! For dinner I ordered the chicken scallopini and my friend ordered the chicken parmigiana. The waitress informed us that the meals come with minestrone soup and a salad with a tomato vinaigrette dressing. My friend asked for ranch on the side instead. Which the waitress let us know she will bring out the salad and put the dressings on the side. We received complimentary bread. It came with a plate of olive oil and balsamic. Woah! the bread was so fresh and dipping it in the olive oil balsamic was the icing on the cake. We finished the entire basket by the time the food start coming out. For the soup the waitress brought it out in a medium size soup pot. She scooped us out some and left the pot for us to get more. The minestrone was so good and hot! This was my first time trying minestrone soup. Our salad came out and it was family style as well. I love that we were given a decent portion and could scoop out the amount we wanted. The tomato vinaigrette was actually pretty good. However, my friend and I did think we would prefer a Caesar salad. Which is what we prefer at an Italian restaurant. Now for our entrees the portions were huge. The chicken scallopini was pretty dang good. I am a chicken piccata person, but I wanted to try something new. This was a good option. The sauce was good and I was able to substitute the spaghetti for angel hair pasta. My friend couldn't believe how much chicken parmigiana she had received. It was a large portion. We asked for boxes minutes later. We were so full from the bread, salad, and soup that we could barely eat our entrees. For the price everything was so worth it. This restaurant is pretty affordable and you will leave full! I wish I could remember our waitress's name. She was so sweet and quick on her feet for the amount of tables she had. As far as parking we were lucky enough to catch someone leaving a parking spot right next to the restaurant. I am sure parking can be very difficult with the number of buildings in the area. Went for Christmas Eve and despite there being several open tables, we were told that we couldn't have a table and we had to sit at the "bar" which isn't at all a bar but more a counter. The servers are kind enough but there's no excuse for having open tables and not seating them. There was a four top directly behind us that was wide open, as well as two other tables, a 2 top and another booth. You have to sit sideways because the bar isn't an actual bar and you literally have nowhere to put your legs. It would cost a couple of hundred dollars to make people more comfortable by building the bar top out slightly to accommodate for your LEGS, instead of having to actually sit sideways to eat your food. I'm sure the owner doesn't care because that shows literally everywhere in the restaurant. The chandelier above our heads at the bar had so much dust on it I wanted to leave. Every bead was caked in dust and it looked like if you shook it it would literally snow cobwebs and dust all over the wannabe awful uncomfortable "bar". If the health department saw this they would shut the place down. This place is so disgustingly dirty and unkempt you're probably risking your health eating here. Back to the restaurant condition, I cannot get over how dirty and dusty the place is. It's obvious no deep cleaning of any kind is occurring here. Just take a look around at the chochkey junk displayed on the shelves and on the walls. The junkyard of "decoration" looks like it came straight out of a garage, no dust off of any kind. Look at the light fixtures and the fake flowers!! If this isn't a health department red flag, someone's getting paid off. It's disgusting. There's exactly ZERO excuse for the amount of dust hanging from the bar chandelier and all over the truly tacky and disgusting flea market trash AND TACKY fake flowers that look 20 plus years old displayed all over the walls. Throw the old wine bottles out people! They're not decorations they're TRASH. CLEAN the place! We had two drinks each and that was $64. $64!! $16 EACH. Aperol Spritz and margarita. 2 each. Absolutely insane for a mom and pop to charge $16. There's no excuse for bad bread, $16 rip off cocktails. The bread basket used to have several types of bread and is now scant at best- the focaccia was cold, crusty and basically fell apart. The soup, boiled into oblivion and bland, and the chicken parm was just decent not great. I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and I'm sad to say it's never been worse. There are too many options in the South Bay and we are no longer dining here. I'm truly disgusted. $180 for two adults at this dusty musty mess would get me a full dinner at Flemings Prime Steakhouse! I'll go there instead at least it's CLEAN. read more

I, like Brogino's have been in the South Bay for 30 years. Short version, our server was such an A-hole we will never drop our 120 bucks there again. Upon arriving on a Thursday evening at 5:30 to a completely empty dining room, the server was unwilling and put out that we wanted to sit at a larger table facing the street. "In case we get a big party". Perhaps they should care for the requests of paying customers, not potential ones, and no one came in as expected. Good food, generous portions, crappy attitude server. We have been going to Brogino's for almost 40 years. The ambience is dark, comfortable, smaller, and romantic. Beautiful bar. The service is great. Everyone is friendly. Omar has been there for years. Always a pleasure to see him. Makes us feel special. We were there Jan. 24th. Omar ensued we got a great table with chairs, which was great and much more comfortable for me. Our amazing server was Jeanette. Friendly, kind, and efficient. The food was delicious! I was craving in Italian and looking for a place that was open past 8 o'clock. I've been here once before many years ago, and have been meaning to go back. It was a weekend and quite busy including the bar. We didn't have a reservation, but we're fortunate enough to get a quiet booth in the back after about a 15 minute wait. Great drinks, my martini was made to perfection. So many options on the menu, and you can add soup and salad to your meal, but we opted anla carte because we filled up on the complimentary garlic bread. I ordered the salmon and it was amazing. I love this little restaurant. But I have to admit I was alittle disappointed last time i went. They seem to be shying away from the traditional Italian cooking. Meatballs were not good at all. Lacking in ingredients and I felt that way about the sauce as well. My family owned and still owns Italian restaurants on the east coast. They need to go back traditional recipes and maybe find real Italian chefs. Service is great though so is old school ambiance. I want them to be successful. read more

I really enjoyed the complete meal with garlic bread, salad, and soup in addition to pasta. The salad was very good and nothing like I've had before at an Italian restaurant. The soup also was something I could see one eating as their meal. The pasta I got was bow tie with their secret sauce. It wasn't as good as it sounded based on the description, a little too much going on and the consistency was a bit off. But it was still enjoyable overall. I took a long time to figure what to write. I first gave a 3 star. But that was not right. Because truthfully there is so much to praise. The service, the food, the ambiance etc. This neighborhood establishment was a fresh surprise. My wife and I enjoyed our meal. I had the linguini and clams and my wife had the salmon over angel hair pasta. I left feeling great. It was valentines day so that helped. Now, back to my original 3 star. I wasn't concerned about the staff (Because they were great). It was just the check-in system when you walked in. I do think it would be a good idea to change that. Now, the hostess was not to blame. She may have been the hardest worker in the restaurant. I saw her work tables and try to calm the masses at the door. So she was great. Just the check-in system has to go. But I'll end with this. I've been a regular here and usually really enjoy the food and atmosphere, but this recent visit was disappointing. I was served scallops that were undercooked--cold in the center and clearly not safe to eat. After biting into one that was ice cold, I had to stop eating and informed the staff. They took the dish back, but we were still charged for the replacement meal. I understand that mistakes can happen, but in situations like this, a small gesture--like comping a drink or dessert--would have gone a long way. It was my first time ever experiencing a three course meal and it was definitely worth it. It started out with a pot of soup brought to our table along with well seasoned and soft garlic bread. Second time trying this spot out. Second time being disappointed. Walked in. No greeting. Stood at the "wait to be seated sign for 5 minutes. Finally seated. (Place was 1/3 full of patrons. Menus were given. 10 minutes later waiter finally came with bread and asked us for our drink order. We ordered diet cokes and our food since we had PLENTY of menu gazing time. 10 minutes later our $5 diet cokes were finally delivered (there were 5 other tables being split by this waiter and a waitress so not busy per se by any standards) Another 15 minutes later our food had arrived. Not terribly long but no "check up" given by the waiter at all which was strange seeing as the place was not terribly busy whatsoever. Food was good enough. 7/10 30 minutes go by and we are done eating trying to get boxes and the check. Waiter finally checks in. 15 minutes go by before I get boxes and a check. Bottom Line: Better dining can be found elsewhere. The service is lackluster at best. The food is barely par. Symptoms are that of an owner and heads staff that have become complacent in their mundane performances. This place needs to be sold to someone who wants to deliver magic-not disappointment. read more

Haven't been to Brogino's in years. Since I first lived in Redondo in the mid 90s. I have since moved to The Desert, but my Son still lives in The South Bay. Yesterday he suggested the place, I resisted, but caved and went. Despite the great 70s ambiance and a very friendly host / waiter, when the food came I remembered why I wrote the place off when I lived in Redondo. The bread plate was decent with a nice variety with a plate of Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar..That's where it ended for me. My entre, Eggplant Florentine, the Eggplant was about raw, and very tough. It wasn't fried first which is Eggplant 101 in Italian cooking. The small side of Penne..the Marinara sauce was also very under cooked. Maybe not cooked at all. Pretty much canned, chunky tomatoes over pasta. I sent the dish back requesting it be put under the broiler again in hopes of saving the $ 20 + entre...it didn't... With so many choices in The South Bay for Italian food, I am surprised this place is still around. read more

I really wanted to love this Italian restaurant that greets you with friendly service, fun, quirky decor and heavenly smells of freshly-baked bread... but we didn't. My chicken piccata was overcooked, tough and over-salted and was cooked in burnt garlic and burnt pepper flakes. The spaghetti and caper sauce were good and the chicken was clearly good quality - it was just cooked badly. My husband did like his chicken cacciatore. He got it over pasta. My daughter got a glass of fruit juice that cost $7 - the same as a bottle of beer! Her vegetarian pasta sauce was overflowing with sliced canned black olives. Too many, even for an olive fan. The fresh bread was delicious and warm. If the execution of the dishes improve, I'd love to come back. Clearly a lot of love and care has gone into this place over the years. Thought I would have Italian for dinner tonight and stopped by this place in Redondo Beach. The decor was reminiscent of my visits to Italy and was calming with nice music in the background. I asked for Italian soda, but they had none. We settled for iced tea. We ordered vegetable lasagna, meat lasagna, chicken and mushroom with Risotto, Fettuccine Alfredo w chicken, and minestrone soup. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu and spumoni. The service seemed quick with only one waiter servicing the entire restaurant, felt sorry for the guy. I honestly wanted to like the dishes, but it was just ok. I appreciate the effort of the server, but the lasagna didn't satisfy and the chicken mushroom risotto was a little to mushy for my liking with the chicken chunks a little dry. The birthday girl was disappointed because she couldn't find chicken in her fettuccini Alfredo. The desserts were great and that made us happy at the end. Overall, they might have had an off night, but I would still come back to try the other dishes in the future.
