I was very eager to taste kaati roll.. not many restaurants serve that.. the food was fine.. due to take out, the roll was soggy and oily at the end... what shocked me the most is the restaurant is charging a different rate than what they advertised in website and prices mentioned in menu inside the restaurant.. the person said menu hasn't been updated and said he is charging 2$ more for all items.. but he eventually charges 3$ more for each kaati rolls... Just spent $16 on butter chicken entree with four TINY pieces of chicken, $7 for two nice-looking samosas, $7 on two narrow strips of naan (not 4/6 as offered by most restaurants, equating to less than half of a disk), and $6 on gulab jamun which consisted of three balls that a golf ball would dwarve 3x over. Food is okay not good or great. If you order online or walk in and order, it takes forever. Half of the times they forget your order. Happened to me twice already. Ordered samosa burger with fries. After waiting for 25 minutes I asked the counter girl there, she asked the cook and he didnt even know the order and took another 20 minutes to make. Finally when they gave it to me. Ordered takeout. I don't know how to describe what I received. I order a paneer dish and it had three cubes of paneer (extremely stingy). I don't mind small portion sizes, but I do mind being so stingy with ingredients that the food quality suffers. The food was both bland and too hot. They over-compensated for the lack of spices and flavor by making it too spicy (almost inedible). The nan I ordered was good, but not the best I have ever had and definitely didn't make up for the quality of the rest of the food. So the owners of this place are the same as the ones who opened Godavari in Woburn/Framingham. I expected more, as they are experienced restauranteurs. We ordered a few times for delivery through GrubHub and each time there were mistakes. The last order, however, was missing a bunch of things. At work, we have a group of people doing the order and only half the people could eat. I was one of the luckier guys that actually got the goat biryani that I ordered...I guess. First the biryani...it was extremely spicy. There was good quantity of rice and meat, but damn that was spicy. I'm no stranger to spicy food, but even my Indian co-workers, who eat even their cereal spicy, said it was on the spicy side. Thats not even the biggest issue. Not long after I ate this food, I had to use the bathroom...it was bad. It was explosive, bad. To make it worst, our in-house handy man was changing a light bulb in there as I walked in. Regardless, nothing was going to stop what was about to happen. I felt bad for the guy, you could tell he was frustrated too as he was unable to accomplish what he wanted to do and get out. Tried Vaanga today for the first time. For $12 I received chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, rice and garlic nan. Very large portions of everything. Taste was very good but I have had better, but not at this price. Give it a try! I'll be back soon. read more

DON"T risk your life going here during the pandemic!!! Visited this place during the lockdown. Firstly, the place looked dirty and dingy. The hardwood floor was sticky and black and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in months. There was an open bucket in the middle of the seating area collecting trash. There were 2 employees, both handling the register as well as the kitchen, neither of them wearing gloves and handling food with their bare hands. The food quality was terrible. Pav bhaji tasted like daal and the bread wasn't even cooked. When I asked why the bread wasn't even heated let alone toasted, the server literally picked up the bread from my plate with his bare hands and showed it to me rudely saying it is cooked. My friend ordered a Paneer Tikka roll, it was just a few pieces of paneer sauteed in turmeric and mayonnaise inside the wrap. If the restaurant expects support for their business, they should at least be respectful of the customers risking going out to support them during the pandemic and be interested in your own business. I spent $40 on 2 pieces of naan, chicken tikka masala with rice, and butter chicken with rice. The portions were very small considering the price. When i opened the containers the food smelled divine, and I couldn't wait to try it. When I bit into the food all I could taste was salt. All of the other delicious flavors I smelled were muted by the amount of salt. I thought it might be only my dish of the chicken tikka but my boyfriends butter chicken was equally salty. I also didn't get very many pieces of chicken. I will say the garlic naan was delicious and the rice was cooked perfectly. I would not return as it is quite pricey for the portions and our meals were so overly salty. read more

Ordered from here a bunch of times - great food every single time. I've never had Indian food at a restaurant without tummy issues - until this one. The food is clean, yummy, and comes well packaged (during these COVID times). The staff is also super attentive and helpful. I and my friend went their in a rainy evening and ordered Hyderabadi biryani. The place smelled bad and looked horrible. The staff could use some training in hospitality. When asked for water, the staff showed us a tap to get water which barely works. When the biryani came, I couldn't be more disappointed. It was a week old biryani microwaved. The chicken smelled and we could not eat it. It is probably the worst restaurant I have visited in my life. $25 down the drain. Don't go to this place. Go buy a microwaveable packet. Went in with a bunch of friends today and hands down, it's an amazing place for indian fusion food. We tried a couple of rice bowls, dosas and lassi, all of which were delicious. The ambience is that of a quick service restaurant and I really loved some of the finer details such as the rustic furnishings, the truck counter etc. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking to grab some quick lunch/dinner! Very disappointed when I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala because there was hardly any meat on there (maybe a third of what Curry House gave) and the sauce was diluted and watery. This was my first visit to Boston and also to Vaanga. I had heard a lot about this place which made me compelled to go eat there. But it was a huge disappointment and total disaster. Sunday almost noon time and I ( 6 months pregnant ) walk down to this place with my husband when it was raining outside. We get in and the expression of the person there was so unwelcoming. No smile, no hello nothing.( Lost 10 points ). We were traveling back to NY by train, so I thought I would get something to eat and take some to go for the 5 hour journey.. We order idly - it was not available. Puri - not available. Forget about the 'fancy labelled dishes' like' Sunny Leone and Sridevi ','Samosa burger' etc, I was not even thinking about them once I heard that the basic idly and Puri were not available. Finally we settled for a masala dosa. I was super skeptical about it, but I really had no option at this point. They literally had only Dosa and nothing else. We get it - tasted like unfermented batter. Guess what, that was not all - the masala curry was yesterday's ( 100% tasted stale ). The only chutney was tomato. No coconut chutney. When asked about it, he said ' it's not there'. Bhaiyya.. what do you mean by that? Do you not serve coconut chutney with dosa at all or did you mean that you are out of stock? If so, why do you charge the whole price for half the dish? ( masala was stale, unfermented batter dosa and no chutney).Also, if you are not ready by that time of the day, why do you want to open the restaurant at that hour ?. The only thing that was good was the Sambhar. Now, I cannot say for sure that it was freshly made or not as at this point as my taste buds were dead. Total disaster.. I would never recommend any one to this place. Just hype and nothing else. The restrooms were not well maintained, no hygiene. We asked some water, and the guy says' it's tap water '. So? Can you please give me some drinkable water? His face again turns into a plain white page. He totally had a bad Saturday night or he doesn't want to work there anymore.. absolutely worst customer care. Tons of plastic... and to give an Indian vibe, you find silly Pond's powder, Maggi noodles, Parle-G, steel tiffin box etc and the ridiculously painted chairs and tables. ( to some it may look cool, but I found it silly, probably because that setting didn't go well with the atmosphere there).Save your money, cook at home and eat well. Firstly welcome to the first South Indian restaurant in Boston, from a grateful South Indian. I was surprised by how tiny the place is. It's filled with a lot of Indian street decor. They do give the place a bit of an unorganized look. It's not great for a sit down experience. But for a quick service. Since it's technically an Indian fast food joint I was not expecting out of the world dishes or flavors. But it delivered what it promised I think. A mash up if different South Indian recipes and a few North Indian ones. I ordered the idli sambhar and chutney. It came out fast. The idli wasn't so fresh. I could tell because it had started to become dry on the edges. But the idli tasted quite good and there were three large ones. The sambhar and the chutney were great. I have been to some other Indian restaurants in the Greater Boston area that offer sambhar. These guys are the better of the lot. The sambhar actually had drum sticks and Indian brinjal. That's a rare sighting in Boston. I ordered chapati too . Again something not commonly found in the area. The chapatis were made fresh and came out quite well. All in all I'm pleased with this place and I'll come back for their dosas which looked good. read more
