    Reused toe separators
    Adjoa O.

They reuse the toe separators the hygienic practices in this place is atrocious but I guess you get what you pay for. When I saw the eyebrow set up I walked out. Tools are dirty and reused and they get annoyed when you say something. After they use the hot towel on you, they wipe the floor with it. I've never seen anything like this.

The right hand and left hand looks like this very unhappy with this but I guess you get what you pay for not.

After getting my nails, feet and eyebrows done I wouldn't recommend this place..Long story short(Not sanitary with tools, very poor on what they offered and was bothered that I asked for designs and I told them it's time to upgrade,Eyebrow area didn't look sanitary and after a weekALL of my nails popped off with no effort my feet is peeling.I'll just stick to my 45 min trip to my shop.Very upset because my sets normally last me over 2 weeks this is a first and last experience.. not to mention they dip your feet in wax that others feet have been in.

They put gel top coat on my SNS nails. Here's the result.

I'll start by saying that the women who worked here were really nice. I came in trying to get my nails fixed before celebrating my birthday out that night. They were super sweet and kept trying me to go wIth a brighter color, lol. I kept it simply with a beige but should have paid attention to the red flags...they told me that they couldn't do nail art with SNS. My nail tech also put SEVERAL layers on my nails and it felt too thick. The fInal layer didn't seem quite right either - the whole process was a bit janky. I'm sure there gel work is fine but I'd never come back here for SNS again. Here are what my nails looked like a week and a half later. Unacceptable. Two stars purely for the service.

Wow. Just wow. I have never seen such a poor job on my toe nails. Just judge for yourself

I don't go easy on my nails. I get builder gel and gel manicure on top. I called 5 salons before I just gave up and made an appointment here for an overlay. When I arrived to the salon, I asked one last time because I want to get my nails done in the way my best friend(a very talented nail tech in Utah) has been doing on me. Tracy did exactly what I asked - thank goodness for being persistent and Tracy knowing exactly what I wanted! I am so satisfied with the result and went home and told all my roommates about Tracy. If my nails chipped or something, I can go get it fixed for free for 2 weeks. And everything was 40 bucks! super cheap for the quality. definitely will be back!

#7 On time,l, took Exactly 30 minutes. Seriously. Honestly the best gel nail

First time going to V Nails and it won't be the last. A friend had recommended it to me a while ago and I finally got around to trying it. (1) $35 gel manicure - let me tell you, for DC that is a steal! I usually get Groupon deals for that exact price for gel nails (2) they do walk ins (major plus) - I knew this but did call at 11:30am to make an appointment at 2pm, because I had plans later and wanted to make sure I wasn't in a line just in case (there wasn't one (3) it may be a small space but they clearly have their stuff figured out - they are packed with nail equipment wall to walk, so if you're looking to make sure you get in and get your mani and pedi (or waxes) done, you are good to go. This is a small space that doesn't act small - i.e., don't expect a long wait, don't expect only 4 tables to be open for the space. I only glanced, but maybe 7 pedi chairs, and 5 mani spaces? I didn't look that much (4) some comments say "it doesn't look that great". I'm sorry, but at the cheaper prices, location, size, and sign style didn't let you know this isn't some "fancy place", then I don't know what to tell you. I personally would rather pay for quality, not aesthetic of a space. They are clearly clean: Their nail equipment (before used on me) were in vacuum sealed post-wash/sanitize individual bags (you know what I'm talking about if you've seen them before). Clean towel, clean paper, clean tiles, clean everything to what I saw. Clean person in front of me. - sorry, some tiles are cracked. The color isn't necessarily the best choice but they're probably old. Don't expect fancy, expect.... a space to go get your nails done. Plenty of places for "fancy" "nice aesthetic" in dc. Adams morgan, DuPont, literally everywhere. If you feel more comfortable in those spaces, that is totally fine. I'm just letting you know, it's obvious this is a get er done, local, "we have been here and do stuff" space. Not "best modern current design and super spacious, home decor, drink a mimosa" space (you could probably drink if you felt like It) - to me, it's a clear hard working space, we provide good service and want to do well space, locally owned space. I like it. I don't need the frills. They do have some nice decor (posters / paintings). For sports lovers , they have two TVs that currently had games on (nice I think, for people waiting on stuff drying) (5) Also: my nail tech, I asked him for tips on matte nails, he happily provided them. I was curious because I do want to keep them matte as long as possible. He was awesome - let me know to avoid lotion if I can in that area. Hmm what else. - everyone as they left sounded happy and satisfied. People gave tips, said thanks very happily. Please note: tips only in cash. I didn't realize until I got there. After paying, I did go to an ATM to get my nail tech his tip, came back and dropped it off. He did an amazing job (7) On time (2pm), shaped, fixed (I had an ugly partially broken nail) trimmed, cleaned, and painted my nails perfectly (gorgeous, see pic) in half an hour. Exactly 30 minutes. Seriously. Honestly the best gel nail experience I have had

Couldn't make it to my regular spot because I got off of work late. This spot was open until 8pm. I called at 6:45 and she told me to come. I got the powder dip nail full set which was $45. Was pleased with the service. Small but clean spot. Will keep this as an ace in the whole when I can't make it to my regular spot.

This place could really use a deep clean!

Problems: -They really try to upsell you on gel. I had to say no FOUR times. -Tools looked old. I have no clue if they were cleaned. I know for a fact that the nail file they used on me had been used on someone else. -Polishes looked old/empty/caked. -Paraffin wax is communal and terrifying. I refused it. -Disinfectants all around the salon looked as if they had never been changed/cleaned. -They do not line their pedicure tubs. -Dirty, grimy floors. Actually, grimy everything. -$20 for a manicure that took all of 8 minutes. What a mess.

This place is pretty good as far as nail salons go. The location is really convenient and clean, and the staff is friendly. The gel manicure was quick and easy. The paint application wasn't completely even, and the nail shape was jagged and uneven in some spots, but it was easy enough to file down when I got home. They even give you a little business card with the date of your manicure And the polish color you used-- it guarantees they'll repair any chips that occur within 10 days.

My sad-looking gel mani after 7 days.

I love my new neighborhood, the neighborhood nail spot? Not so much. The service is courteous enough, but the spa has some malfunctioning equipment and is poorly planned out, resulting in what I can only label some - ahem - interesting traffic jams. I recommend V's Nails for their eyebrow waxing; but, sadly, not their pedicures and gel manicures. The paraffin wax and leg massages that accompany each are a nice touch, but it does not make up for the shoddy job on the nail painting. Both times I had gel manicures done here, the nails chipped in under 7 days. I am used to my gel manicures lasting 14-20 days without actually chipping. I also experienced chipping in less than three days after getting a pedicure. So, if you're on the hunt for a nail spot that is open later than most and which will make your digits look great for 24-48 hours, you've come to the right spot, As for me? I'm on the hunt for another nail spa. * Accepts credit cards but tips are cash only.

I went on a Sunday morning and found the front desk a bit frantic despite there being 3 people working there. One pedicure tech finally sat me (for my appointment) but the foot bath wasn't functioning. Amber was my tech and moved me to another chair. While she was pleasant I thought the charge of $120 for a gel manicure and pedicure was too much given the lack luster environment. However, what cemented for me this place is horrible is that within 2 days the gel manicure chipped! First it was 2 nails. Now, 4 days later 3. I called and they wanted me to come back there to have them fixed. I said I would never return and they gave me some money back as I insisted. But the continued deterioration of the service after just days is clear this isn't good good nail spa. I don't recommend it and I wouldn't return.

While across the board the results were good--color was applied well, the nails were nicely shaped--we felt like we didn't necessarily get service that matched the price. There were no hot towels, none of our manicures came with a hand massage, and we had to ask for our complimentary beverage. None of that is a deal breaker, but for $55-75 a service (even a basic polish manicure is $45!) it would have been nice to have more than the bare bones! One outlier, my friend who got a pedicure loved her leg massage. I'll also note while I called and made a reservation and received a confirmation text AND confirmation call, when we showed up the front desk didn't know who we were or check our reservation. Again, not really a problem, but Gloss Bar is definitely trying to market itself as a luxury spa nail salon, but the experience is pretty comparable to any old nail salon.

I was warmly welcomed when I walked in and asked to sign in, and then I walked back to the pedicure chairs. My nail techinician, who didn't introduce herself and was not particularly warm towards me, greeted me and got down to business. Now-I warned her that my feet were in a rough condition, so I didn't mind her being all business because these toes needed THE business. The pedicure service was fantastic!! my feet were scrubbed and rubbed, my toes nails cut and shaped, and my polish was summertime ready. My nail technician offered me water towards the end of my service, which I graciously accepted, however I noticed most people were offered a beverage at the beginning of their service. The spa is relatively cozy in size and efficient, no frills or luxury, but everything was tidy, and my pedicure was done amazingly, and completed in a bit over an hour.
