It was $145 without tip. I recommend going somewhere else if you want complex nail art and a keen eye to detail. I had to go back the next day but I realized there was still one nail where the top coat didn't cover all of the nail. That meant the sticker was jutting out a bit and irritating my skin. The nail artist is pretty decent with simple art and with most sticker application. I had wanted it all to be nail art and for them to tell me they couldn't do 3D nails. There is at least one sticker on each nail. Also I had to coax her to not give up but she was insistent on simply stickering every nail to make it go faster. The pedi was alright and pretty painless. The nail artist just missed a spot of paint and accidentally got a dot of red paint on the right big toe. I think about 2.5 hours was spent in total during the first visit and less than 10 minutes fixing the issues with the nails in the next visit. read more

Worst place don't go, the lady got mad at me cause I asked her to cut my nails shorter with the shape. so she filed down so hard that she cut my thumb and she was smiling while doing it. I'm a girl who loves a good manicure and was mega excited to find a place in DC while I was in town. I traveled a few miles to get here and probably should have chosen a place closer to my hotel. Arrived at 9:30am for my reserved appointment and one of the ladies got to work removing my previous set. While she wrapped my nails and let them sit in acetone, the next person got to work on my pedicure. Ok so I was probably at this location for about 20 minutes when 2 ladies walked in. They were almost immediately offered water, green tea etc. While up to this point, I wasn't offered anything until much later than when I arrived. Also the disposition towards these two was generally sunnier and much more accommodating. (They were asked multiple times if their water temp was too hot/too cold etc) Now, the pedicure was fine. The gentleman who worked on my feet was nicer and he definitely perked up when we talked about my hometown. Also they had 3 people work on my nails which just put a bad taste in my mouth. It makes it much messier when it comes to tipping (I'll get to the tipping part later) Another sour item was they swapped out the nail color I chose. I specifically asked for a certain color of red. They pulled it out for me and had it on the ready, and right before she got to painting, someone else asked for the same color, they let the other customer use it and gave me something comparable. Super duper rude. I was already over this place at this point, so I obliged (I'm way too nice for my own good). Also gonna mention here that my cuticles are currently in pain because of them getting cut badly (never has ever happened back at home) Lastly, the tipping part. So when I went to tip, I had to personally give the tips to each person who worked on my nails. Not sure if it's a rule/law but running around small nail shop to track down the folks who worked on my nails doesn't necessarily scream customer service to me. Try my girl Gabby out! I came to this spot despite the reviews due to doing some grocery shopping across the street. I asked for the dreaded "gel builder fill" and after my pedicure gabby went to work. She did everything I asked and I couldn't stop looking at my nails! NICE work The only con was the prices, after every request the price went up by $5-15 so my nails with cat eye tips were well over $100, with my total with pedicure being $198. Appreciated getting taken back early. Didn't really have too much time to look at colors, but I already knew what I wanted a head of time. Also, while fixing the nail shape (I said they were fine so I don't know why they were being fixed), it felt rushed and like I was going to start bleeding. I dropped into Happy Nails for a basic manicure. No extras I just wantedy natural nails cleaned up the old fashioned way. I asked if they could do a traditional mani, no electric tools just emery boatds. They said yes and the price was $25 so I proceeded. I was given 2 bowls with tepid water and told to soak my nails. About 90 seconds later the tech began working on my nails, quickly pushing back my cuticles, no oil and slightly rough at first. She was more delicate after noticing I'd pulled back after a particularly hard jab. She then quickly but thoroughly removed my overgrown cuticles and then asked if I wanted nails cut and what shape. I told her almond. She said they have to be round if she cuts them down. I told her I do it myself all the time and she should just do the best she can. After giving one nails try she confirmed if the shape was ok. I told her yes and the manicure proceeded. Them she went over ally nails quickly with a very rough filer. My nails were very rough to the touch so I asked if she'd done that to help the polish hold. She didn't understand sp I told her my visit was really about having clean smooth nails and the polish was extra and would probably be removed on a couple days so could she please buff outy nails as of I wasn't getting polish. She asked, you don't want polish? I replied no, I do want that part but let's pretend I don't and please smooth out my nails. I couldn't understand why communication was so hard and why this tech could not perform a basic straightforward manicure, but I remained patient and when she started buffing my nails I assured that was great and all that I wanted... smooth nails. At the end of it all the service felt inadequate and rushed. The salon was nearly empty and it was about 2pm on a Wednesday. I didn't receive services I am accustomed to and believe are standard like warm water for pre-soaking, proper buffing, lotion and brief hand massage, and finishing with a warm wet towel. 24 hrs later my natural translucent nail polish was chipped and had come entirely off 2 fingernails. It's really sad that service has become so subpar. I don't plan on going back. read more

Went for a fill in and pedicure, I had no issues with my previous set the whole month I had them, no broken or lifted nails (done by a nail tech unrelated to the salon) and not only was my set rushed and sloppy but after less than 2 weeks I have 3 nails lifting from the cuticle. My pedicure was so bad I went to another place to have them go behind and actually treat my feet with some TLC. Granted it was crowded and they were polite but services were poorly executed. I came here about a week ago to get my nails done with dipping powder and they started to chip (mind that I've been getting my nails done for 5 years now and dip for those 5 years. I've never had them chip before and much less twice in a row since coming here to get them done. Cassie really exceeded my expectations and was genuinely concerned about both my experiences and went above and beyond to make my nails better, and fixed them so they wouldn't chip anymore. She even gave me a mini hand massage when concluding the work with some lotion and added cuticle oil to make them moisturized. I will come back thanks to this wonderful experience! Thank you Cassie! On a Thursday around 3pm I called and asked if they were busy. They said no and I said I'd be there in 15. 30 minutes later I walk in, she confirmed if I'd called and I got sat and started right away! I really appreciated that and I noticed that around 4pm it got poppin! There were four ladies working and they started having to tell people it was a 30min then hour wait so pro tip, go before 4 if you can! I was preparing for a trip so needed the works but I wanted to confirm my price before we were done. I got a gel manicure with a design ($15 extra), pedicure, and my eyebrows waxed for $99. Considering the quality of my service, I wasn't mad at the price at all! I just got some squiggly lines but my lady definitely took her time and I could tell she was proud of herself when she was done and I was proud of her too! DO NOT GO HERE. HORRIBLE. Went in for a manicure. Tech did a horrible job. Nails were filed unevenly. Nail polish was gloopy. It was so bad. I went back the next day to just change the polish to gel because it looked like my 4 year old did my nails. I told them yesterday this was a bad job and that I wasn't satisfied but I was in a rush. Came back in less than 24 hours for a gel polish change and said I would pay the difference. The manager charged me extra for the polish change. Horrible customer service. I even overheard another technician try to gas light a girl who questioned the thickness of her dip nail polish. The girl stood her grown but the tech complained to her for 12 minutes about why it looked great as is. Never coming back. Called ahead around 10:30am Saturday to confirm there was availability. I showed up around 11 and was in the chair in 10 minutes. Cassie works fast but is diligent. I made a few changes as she was doing my nails and she was able to adjust quickly without any issues. Overall, with the designs it came out to $50 for the gel on my natural nails. I was happy with the outcome! There were quite a few people that came in, it seems like everyone was able to get what they needed down fairly quickly. I asked for gel builder, they didn't adequately apply the gel. There are bumps in my nails, they also did not do the color I requested. I asked for espresso brown but received a dark purple color. Then they charged me just as much a new set even tho it was a fill. I just moved to the area and took an extended amount of time to find the right nail salon through reviews and such. So happy I came to Happy Nails Bar!! I had an appointment for lunch time on Monday and I got there about 10 minutes early and they sat me right away. I got a regular pedicure and gel mani. They had a good selection of colors and various shades. I very much enjoyed both services but my favorite part was that my tech did not make me feel like I needed to continue any small talk and I could really just relax and be in my own head space. There was no uncomfortable silences or forced conversation and to me, that's the greatest thing. It was a clean space, good music, and relaxing and friendly atmosphere. This was my first time at Happy Nails Bar and I will definitely be back! I got an acrylic fill with gel polish and had them do designs on all of my fingers. This is the first salon I've been to in the city (I normally go when I'm back home at the holidays or do my own nails), but it was a phenomenal experience. Even though I made an appointment, I had to wait about 15 minutes past my appointment time because every chair in the salon was full. The front desk staff was very communicative that they were running behind and kept me updated on how long it would be until they'd have a chair open for me. Treated myself to brunch after coming here and I've already received a few compliments on my nails. It did just hit me that the pattern reflects Chick-fil-a (but that's on me. Should've stuck with the original color scheme lol) As you can tell, Van does a really good job! She's meticulous, takes her time, and doesn't let you leave with a "dirty hand." (Trust me, some other places aren't as particular about that) The environment is very welcoming! Everyone was friendly, and while they'll chat with you, they don't force you into small talk. Every conversation is rather organic. I like that. The price is fairly reasonable too. For my soak off, new set, pedicure, and designs, I only paid $115. Really, you can't go wrong here. Price doesn't justify the quality. I'm happy with the end result, but my experience was subpar. A lot of the equipment really needs to get cleaned. I came in at a non-busy time, and it was pretty dirty. After removing my past nails, they just flipped over the stained, dirty towel (from previous users most likely) to do the rest. The other side wasn't that clean either. They also don't wear gloves. I also had to ask for certain things that I felt like I shouldn't have to ask, like making sure all of the past polish was removed and making sure my nails were evenly rounded. I never had to ask/check for those things in other salons I've been to. Maybe it's just DC prices, but I'd rather get my nails done at a more expensive salon if so for a cleaner and easier treatment. The lady at the front was nice and had great customer service. Overall I paid $50 including tip for a basic gel manicure with gel removal, no designs. I wouldn't come here again. read more

TLDR: Gave them multiple tries with three different nail techs. Issues: UNCURED GEL NAILS (exposure to uncured gel can pose health risks); nail tech shaved my nails down too thin; nail techs cannot do extremely simple nail designs; manicure looked like it was old/needed a fill on the day I got it. I am new to the NoMA area and looking for a new nail salon. I tried out Happy Nails Bar twice and both times I was not impressed with the quality of my nails nor my experience at the salon. My first time here I came with my partner and we each got a gel manicure. She asked for an extremely simple nail design (a sparkle/star) on one nail and showed picture examples. The nail tech absolutely butchered it - it looked SO sloppy and uneven. We ended up going to another salon afterwards to get it fixed because the nail tech was unable to do such a simple design. My nails came out OK, but not great. The day I got them done they looked like I had got them done one week ago because the polish was not close enough to my cuticles. I decided to give them a second chance with a different nail tech, but my second time here was the real disaster. I got another gel manicure. When removing my last manicure, the nail tech made my nails so thin they were bending when you touched them. I've never had a nail tech shave down so much of my nail before. One week later and two nails have started cracking. Two of my nails had bumps underneath them because she did not clean debris off of my nail before putting polish on them. Another two nails had bubbles under them and were NOT FULLY CURED. The polish is soft and peeling off. There are serious dangers associated with exposure to uncured gel so I would not recommend this salon. read more

This was my first time coming here and so far it was a pleasant surprise. The receptionist was very nice and Digable. The place was decently kept and didn't look dirty. Everyone was very nice. My technician was Vincent who did my feet and hands and he was very kind and gentle. I was recommended this place by a couple of clients and coworkers from work because I've seen their nails and they've told me this is where they come.. I was happy to find a salon near by house but after going there three times the fourth time I went I was disappointed with the color chipping that same day and went back at night time to get it fixed and they charged me $20 extra and that also chipped the next day and went back again and that same polish chipped. I was surprised that gel polish would chip that same day twice and I was charged total of $90 and was only refunded $10 back.
