This salon just opened this month in the Union market neighborhood and it was much needed! With being the only nail salon in the area, I was hopeful it was nice and it certainly was! Since it's brand new, it was super clean, the staff was really nice and friendly, and they had a ton of nail polish options. I got a pedicure and for their opening promotion - throughout the month of May they were running a deal of 15% off if you booked online ahead of time. Hoping they run more discounts like this in the future! Side note, they do charge 3% if you use a card which isn't ideal. Also, cash or Venmo only for tip. I did like that instead of bringing me to a drying station, they had me sit in the pedicure chair with a little fan facing my toes for them to dry. Time to correct the record here and bump that rating up - every service I've had done at Kosmo has been a 10/10. Union Market was in desperate need of a nail salon and BAM! Here comes boujee Kosmo, making you feel like royalty from the moment you step in. The staff are kind, quick and ensure your comfort and requests are met (majority can do nail designs, unlike many salons where there might only be 1 staff member who's always booked). Prices are comparable to my old salon in Navy Yard and the place is squeaky clean (clearly I've experienced trauma at other dusty salons). I made a same-day appointment for dip nails with extensions. The technician who worked with me did a pretty good job, and toward the end, the technician next to her jumped in to help finish shaping my nails. I appreciated that she got help instead of leaving them as-is. I have a crooked finger on each hand, and most places wind up placing the nail strangely, exacerbating the look of it. not here! the nails were placed properly to minimize my funny fingers. they were a little aggressive on the side walls of one hand which isn't great, but it wasn't so bad that i wouldn't go back. overall satisfied! :) read more

I just got a mani and pedi and had to instruct the technician (Wendy) the entire time. My pedicure in the end turned out ok but when it came to a basic manicure it's was the worst I received to date! It was rushed and uneven. It was the equivalent of what you would do in your own bathroom at home before rushing out to go somewhere. I stopped my technician as I grew tired of pointing out flaws in her service and proceeded to pay not intending to pay for the manicure. He started recording me as I complained about being up charged for a service that I did not ask for yet forced to pay. I paid in cash. He gave me $38 back in one dollar bills. My nails are horrible. I'm going to have to go to another salon to get them fixed. avoid this salon at all costs! complete ripoff!! Made an appointment for 5/23 at 5pm. They called me less than hour before my appointment to say they were running late and if they could push it. I asked if another day would be better and they said they were wide open on Sunday 5/25 so I scheduled a 3pm. I walked in 5 minutes early and was told I had to wait until someone was available. Meanwhile it was not busy. I sat there for 25 minutes past my appointment and then left because what is the point of an appointment if you aren't going to honor the time. Will not return here again which is a shame since its right down the street from my house. read more

This was my second time coming here and the experience was night and day. My first visit was exceptional. However, my appointment yesterday involved 3 technicians for my manicure. I started off with one who gave me to Wendy, and then back to the original. She was having a difficult time with my nails and had to start several nails over before giving me to another technician to finish the manicure. For my pedicure I waited about 15 minutes for a technician (Tiffany) to come to my chair, and she left me without letting me know she was done so I sat there waiting for another 15 minutes afterwards. On top of that, after taking my credit card I was charged for another persons services (they called my credit card company to void the transaction, and is in progress. I didn't even get a receipt for my actual transaction. All this to say I received my French tip design for free despite the substandard service. I am truly disappointed in this experience and hope the salon will be more attentive in the future. read more

Received a pedicure here that was fine, although the technician was rough and kept cutting me. Went for a gel-x manicure and asked for an actual manicure as well. The manicure was very rushed and the gel-x was not well done at all. The salon is very pretty in the inside but the customer service was not at the same level. I wouldn't go back. read more

I was super excited for the grand opening of this nail bar. I went to the opening day as they had this amazing deal where you get 50 percent off your service. It was such a a great deal I could not pass it. I got my toes and nails done. My toes are uneven and I felt as if the staff member that did my toes didn't really care about the service as I was getting 50 percent off. They did an okay job but the staff member didn't even bother to ask me what shape I wanted she just cut my nails all uneven and painted them. My toe nails are uneven. When she was halfway done with my toes I asked if she was going to do my finger nails and she visibly got annoyed and just asked "nails too?" I think the place is really pretty and you can see management trying to put in the effort but I was not impressed with my service. DC has a problem where businesses think they can act and provide whatever service they want because they know people will pay, especially here in Noma. I'm inclined to give them another chance as I did like my finger nails but we shall see. read more
