I make an appointmen. I'm seen on time or a little later as delays happen so I don't trip.I use to request a tech but have not for at least 2 of the 3 years I've gone and 96.7% of the time I walk out very satisfied. I get compliments regularly. Every tech does a great job. There is the rare language barrier but the manager will translate if needed. That's only been an issue a few times. It's clean. Bathroom is clean. All there are nice and again all do their jobs well. I'll note that I don't get any elaborate designs but I am particular about the length and shape I request and I get no under the breath hesitation or eye rolling. I'd give them 5 stars if they had better massages on both hands and feet. That minute or two is one of the things I look forward too. I'd pay more for an extended foot massage. Also they don't try to upsell services that are offered. I'd like to know more but forget to ask. read more

I have been going to this nail salon for 3+ years for Gel-X. This is the nail salon I visit when I need basic service and designs. I've learned not to request anything trendy or complex here because I've been disappointed in their poor execution multiple times. When I've raised concerns about poor design/technique, the staff seemed frustrated rather than helpful. My most recent experience was especially disappointing. Within one day, two nails broke completely off. The salon offered to fix them for free, but asked me to bring the broken nails back to reattach, which I found unsanitary and unprofessional. During the appointment, I suggested maybe the curing process might have been done incorrectly, but my concern was dismissed. Shortly after leaving the salon that day, another nail broke off. When I called/raised the issue again, I explained that I live 40+ mins away and couldn't keep returning for repairs. I asked if the full set could be redone, but they declined and instead said they would continue fixing nails individually as they broke. I came in for a 3rd time in 1 week. As of today, 8 out of 10 nails have broken, including one that had already been repaired by them once. Given this experience, I can't confidently return to this salon. read more

Definitely not going back!! I used to go here ALLLLL the time! It literally used to be my favorite place. I went there today to get a gel pedicure and a gelX set smfh they need to be retrained on how to size the nail for the nail bed correctly! I called back and asked if I can come back so they can fix it and he denied me! I wouldn't recommend this place. The paint job was messy on my toes and nails! I was so upset when I left I was almost in tears! I HATE walking around with nail looking crazy when I didn't pay for them to look this way! I hate this place. I read they don't take appointments so I begrudgingly walked in on. Saturday morning for nail service. Wonder Nails was not as packed as I expected for a weekend but there was a 15 minute wait. They have 6 nail stations and 5 pedicure chairs. The nail prices are not posted on the wall but they have a nice binder that you can view with prices. The nail prices are standard to what I am used to from my travels. That is, $35 for dipped nails. In addition, they provide eyelash extensions services Street parking only. read more

Man oh man I am sooooooo pleased with The service, the wait time, and the price. I came here on a Wednesday after 6. I paid a decent price for a fill and a design on all nails. I used to come here all the time but since I moved I don't find myself in the area. But today I decided to come back to my old stomping grounds. I have absolutely no cons for this establishment. The prices used to be reasonable but now they play with prices and charge you whatever they feel like. They charged my 10-year-old daughter $104 for basic nails. I think I found a new nail home! Can I just first say their Pandora play list is LIT lol Came here after work. They had a decent crowd for a week night. I noticed most of their customers are regulars and they damn near know everyone by name unless you're new. All of the nail techs are equally Artist. If you like trying new styles and keeping up with the latest trends, you'll love this place! I'm only giving this shop 4 stars because the wait was a little long but the work is quite nice. I love this nail salon so very much and am glad that I found this neighborhood gem! They accept walk-ins and don't give you a hard time about using a credit card (though I usually bring cash for a tip) and have pretty reasonable prices for nail art. The salon is also very clean, and has a laid back and friendly vibe. I'm really hard on my nails- gel manicures usually only last for 5-7 days for me. But since I started going to this salon my nails look flawless for *3 ENTIRE WEEKS*! Which is such a blessing for me. All of the technicians have done a good job on my nails, and are always willing to oblige when I want to get some funky nail art. The wait time can be a bit long if you go during peak time (like payday friday) but I've never waited more than 45 minutes. Highly recommend! read more

Last week was my 3rd time going there, Lucy did my nails all 3xs. The 1x, I asked for a a bit of extension and she said the only way to do that was vy gluing a fake nail on. I feel like I remember having a bit of Extension done with the dipping powder. I let her do what she recommended and my nails came out horrible; they were very 'thick' and unnatural looking. I had to have her re-do them which she did but didnt improve them much. I still gave her. VERY GOOD ($10) TIP. The 2nd time, I asked her to remove the fake nails n just do the dipping powder n gel mani. This was very simple and came out decent. The 3rd time, I came on a Friday to have her do the same thing. But this time she completely messed up my nails. Same problem: bumpy, not smooth nails, unnatural looking, air bubbles, etc. I had to come back the following Monday to wait another hour and have her re-do my nails. This time though, the air quality really made me feel sick (headache, lightheaded). And, they had some White Cop 'hanging out' in their tiny shop. The cop was all in everybody's business, sitting behind the nail tech stations making an already tight space very unpleasant. I felt like I was being surveilled - NOT AT ALL RELAXING. These issues are repairable....if they fix them I'll def come back. read more

This is a really solid nail salon and is a great place to have in the neighborhood! Lots of Pros: They dont take appointments which I find kind of nice since the wait time is straightforward. (However, I typically come during off-peak hours bc there is no wait.) Definitely agree with the other reviews that the techs are really nice and all do a very good job, very quickly - I've never left here unsatisfied with my nails, not even once. Even the other patrons are nice and I've had pleasant convos with other people during my manis and pedis. The inside is looks newly renovated and is typically clean. Prices for nail art are very reasonable and they are up to date on the latest trends. When I ask for something I've never had and they think it will look ugly they intervene and make a suggestion which I really appreciate. They allow tips to be paid via venmo or on the card so it's nice to not have to carry cash. There is only one big con - they do not follow best practices for hygiene/sanitation. I've gotten dip powder a few times and they dunk your nail directly into the same pot that they use for every client. They dont use disposable tools, an autoclave, or even the blue disinfectant solution - I typically see the nail tech grab the closest nail file or instrument and use it (and have actually seen them rush quickly between clients without cleaning the nail files/instruments at all). I've also never seen then clean/disinfect whirlpool foot baths between clients. Obviously this isnt uncommon for a nail salon in DC and certainly isnt a complete deal breaker for me. It just means right now I cant make this my "go to" nail salon and it stops me from coming more frequently than I do. I really hope its something they can improve over time. Overall, if your not overly concerned about hygienic procedures this is a well priced option for excellent nail services. read more

I have finally found my go-to spot for manicures and I am so excited! I have only gone to Vivian because she can do it all. I've gotten French manicures, regular manicures, and dip manicures with and without tips. While I often stick to the neutral colors, I have noticed a HUGE selection of colors, glitter, and textures. If you like fun designs, check out her instagram page where she exhibits her masterpieces that Cardi B would totally rock. Pro tip: they are walk-in only! So try to go during the middle of the day or right when they open. They are a super busy salon with many regular clients! I came an hour after opening once and still had to wait. This place is a NO for me. I gave them 2 tries before this review. The tech tried to peel acrylic off my toes with a fake nail instead of taking the time to soak it off. He insisted it was fine because it was faster. Clearly it was damaging my real nails and I had to be more direct saying "NO,I want it soaked off" before he did what I asked. Then to make it worst, he had ME soak my own nails off while he was doing my pedicure. If I'm going to be doing the work, why am I paying for service??? Then I noticed that they don't use sterile out the package utensils on your pedicure. Everything is rushed. It's not about quality here at all. She was lovely .I called ahead of time to see if there was a wait because I know they can get busy and they don't take reservations. I arrived just in time and decided on dip nails with a matte finish. I wanted my ring finger to have glitter. I also got a pedicure. the pedicure was done by different technician.The pedicure was supposed to be matte finish, but I don't think we quite got there. I'm clear that the pedicurist knew that it was supposed to be a matte finish; however, there's a little bit of a communication break down. in retrospect I think she offered to put the clear finish that makes it matte on for a second coat and I declined because I didn't understand. read more

They always do a great job with my nails. During covid they have really stepped it up and only take appointments over the phone so no waiting. They take your temperature, have you wash your hands upon arrival, and have hand sanitizer readily available. Everything is spaced out and everyone is masked. March 13, 2020 was my final time going to Wonder Nailz. I went there on a Friday night to get my thumbnail repaired. Mind you, I just got this full set on March 4th and this was my second repair on a different nail since then. I waited over an hour just to repair my one finger, which can be an indicator that I'm patient and somewhat flexible with my schedule. So there's no rush needed. I asked a couple of people how much longer would I have to wait since people were getting serviced well after I've arrived. But it was cool, I just got the nail set last week and was intending on it lasting so I can wait. The lady that initially put the set on (March 4) was the same person who was servicing me that day (March 13). On March 4th, I had an issue with my right index finger. I jammed it pretty badly and it hurt for days. So I told her I would like a new full set and to cut down my real nails. So when she was taking my nail off on the index finger, I explained what happened and how it still hurt. She initially tried to take my nails off with another acrylic nail and I told her that it hurt when she was doing that. So she soaked my nails to remove it. So March 4th, I took a mental note on who did my nails and how they responded when I told them certain things. So here we are on March 13th, the same lady proceeds to take my nail off with an acrylic nail. Mind you, I didn't jam my thumbnail it just broke off while breaking down boxes...no pain whatsoever. While she's taking my nail off with the acrylic nail, I tell her that it hurts. She tells me it because it's still fresh and not ready to come off, so she soaks it. I'm perfectly fine with that. She comes back and files it down and tries to take it off with the acrylic nail again and I tell her that it hurts. She has me soak it a little longer and then comes back to file it and try again with the acrylic. This time, I start to bleed and hurt even more. And I'm heated at this moment, there's no need to rush doing my nail, I already waited over an hour to be serviced. She gets some peroxide and pours it over my nail telling me I can still get it repaired. She files my nail while there's blood present. She glues the new acrylic nail while there's blood present. All the while, I'm trying my best to keep my composure. A lady getting a pedicure sees me trying to keep my cool as I'm bleeding. I tell the lady to take the acrylic nail off and that I'll come back another day to remove the whole set since my thumbnail needs to heal. She tells me just to come back and she'll repair the nail at no cost. It's safe to say that I didn't and will never go back there again. A few days later, another nail broke. I'm upset on so many levels. My money was wasted, my time was wasted, my nail was damaged, sanitary issues, and lack of compassion when someone expresses they're in pain. I would honestly give this place no stars! read more

Manicure he didn't wait for the gel lamp to finish drying and rushed me out (no massage) and then I got home and saw that I had finger prints in my polish and the polish was on my skin. SO UNPROFESSIONAL! I been going to them for 3 years these last year has been a NIGHTMARE! I made my appointment a week ago I go into get my feet done by the wonderful Daniel ( my fav) by the way . Was waiting to get nails done it's 1:00 my appointment time someone comes in for a polish change they put her before me with no explanation why ! 30 minutes go by nobody still says anything when I speak up they say another 20 minutes . Management has nothing to say except sorry so now I am without any nails and all they say is come back I should have to when I have an appointment that I made A WEEK AGO ! Nice salon but weary of who you get to do your nails. There IG page is great but not everyone in the shop knows what they are doing. I left with my nails thick with acrylic and uneven shaping. It it wasn't for the polish, all the mistakes would of shown. Plus they gave me a whole new brow shape when I asked for a clean up. read more

I visited Wonder Nails on Saturday with a friend. Upon arrival no one welcomed us nor did anyone inquire as to what service we wanted. So, we sat down for more than an hour. Only to be told by Molly (owner) to have a seat in a pedicure chair. No one assisted either of us to the chair and the water was cold clear water. We waited in the chair for anothe thirty minutes for a non English speaking person to start the pedicure. Molly sat only a few feet away where she continued to interpret for the technician. I was clear as to what I wanted however, I received everything I DIDNT want including poor customer service from the door. My toe nails were completing uneven and I had to take the file and correct them myself which made them shorter then I wanted. My friends feet had dead skin on them and dry as a dessert yet while she waited for them to dry. She had to put lotion on them herself. Two of the colors I had chosen were dried out. Finally, I picked up one that could be used. At this point I just wanted to get out of there. Two and a half hours for a pedicure was outrageous. Most importantly, I had to request that the tech sterilize her equipment and inform my friend that I had whitenessed the tech who was starting her feet didn't sterilize his equipment after the client prior to her. I also had instruct the tech to clean hers as well and stop her from using a dirty old buffer on me. She suggested that if I wanted a new one used on myself I should order them and I would have them. Speechless to say the least. What I noticed in addition to the poor service and lack of sterilization was that there was no barbozide(sp) jars at the stations. The trash was over flowing from every trash can. Water was on the floor with wet towels all around the pedicure chairs which had nets flying around. Empty soda bottles where behind the chairs. This whole in the wall is a perfect example of what people allow and patronize. This is completely unexeptable and a health hazard. Moll & Ryan are rude and arrogant people who have forgotten that they are in a service rendering business but, they treat the customers as if they are doing them a favor as if they have this sense of entitlement I didn't see licenses nor did some of the tech's speak English. How do they pass a test if the can't speak the language? The Health Department or Immagration shout shut this neat of infectious disease down immediately! read more

I explained the shape I wanted, gave details on exactly what I did NOT want and yet I, somehow, managed to leave with every last thing I requested NOT to have. The nails were too thick, stuck straight out without a natural curve, and the paint job was half-assed to say the least. I had to pay ANOTHER nail salon just to re-paint them. I had to pay for gems when getting nails redone, despite being upset about the first set that I paid and tipped for. If I wasn't pressed for time (due to the 45 minute+ wait time), I wouldn't have left the shop with the original set. Even with the redo, the nails didn't extend to my cuticles making it appear that I was due for a fill. All of this happened before I went on vacation, so I was disappointed. I wouldn't return.
