Bagels? Check... Utopia? Facts! After a looooooong visit to the Suffolk Cty TVA, my friend and I took the drive to Utopia Bagels to check them out. I'm soooo happy she suggested that we stop in. The place is huge! Behind the counter is where all the magic happens. They have an open space and you're able to see the freshly prepared bagels coming right out of the cook. The giant red mixer is on rotate constantly, and it's a vibe. They have a covered outdoor dining area that is quite spacious. I like that they have this option of dining on site, away from the organized chaos inside. When we first walked in I was immediately overwhelmed. The spreads, the salads, the BAGELS! They have plenty of tofu-based, vegan spreads which is pretty cool. They also have a large variety of regular cream cheese creations, including bacon. The menus are expansive but I'm sure you could customize anything you might want. Pay attention to your place in line because, "Next!", can come out of nowhere. Everyone is pretty cognizant of each other and considerate to make sure they're not skipping the line. Kayla assisted us with our order. We both got The Worth It (mini), which has lox, choice of CC, tomato, red onion and capers on a mini bagel of your choice. We both went with mini pumpernickels. I'm glad I did not get the regular size because it definitely would have been too big for me to finish. The mini is a solid serving. I still only ate half. While we waited for our order to be completed, Scotty came by and introduced himself, presenting us with a freshly made egg everything bagel...Errmahgerd! Soooo good! I almost asked for a spoon of cream cheese to throw on it but honestly, that bagel was perfect all by itself. I swear I burned the roof of my mouth eating it. I couldn't even wait until it cooled off. I've never had a bagel that fresh. Ever. We slid on over to the side and shared our fresh bagel. It was perfectly everything seasoned. Phenomenal. The best thing to do is to order, move out of the way, and wait for your order to be completed so you can pay. Then, all you have to do is compose yourself long enough so as not to buy everything you see. They have heros, rolls, bagel sandwiches, brekkie, spreads, salads, savory and sweet baked goods, and best of all, everything is super fresh. When our order was ready, Kayla rang us up and was very nice to separate our bags for us. She even gifted me a dino sugar cookie for my Little. They've ruined all other bagel shops for me. Beyond Impressed! From quality, variety and service... Utopia has made me a bagel groupie. I should mention that bread is already my kryptonite, so this is dangerous territory that I'm willingly entering. My only saving grace is that I don't live close. On Monday I accompanied my friend to the Suffolk Cty TVA as moral support my only caveat was that we stop @ Utopia Bagels on our way home. For some very strange reason I have never been, however it's booked marked on both my Yelp & IG. I am extremely grateful that my friend obliged my request. Utopia is big when considering a bagel shop and busy doesn't begin to describe the hustle and bustle that is going on upon entering. When you first walk-in it can be overwhelming especially for a non-regular. (ie: my friend and I) However, we quickly peeped the flow and found our grove to the rhythm of Utopia. To start everything is made fresh on the premises. Behind the counter you can see the variety of Bagels ready to be served and continuously being made. They have a XXXL life size fire engine red Kitchen Aid stand mixer working it's magic in the prep area. The options seem to be endless; cream cheeses, spreads, salads, pastries, cookies and of course bagels. The expansive menu can make decisions difficult. However I came prepared, at least I thought I did. I knew I wanted to order the Yankee Clipper on an everything bagel, so I did, but I also had to order a Mini Worth It on a pumpernickel bagel (for both of us) as soon as I saw it on the menu. Yankee Clipper: Reg. 8.95 Chicken Cutlet, Melted Mozz, Let, Tom, Sundried Tomatoes, Mayo, (Everything Bagel) Worth It: Mini 7.75/ Reg. 14.25 Bare Lox. Cream Cheese, Tomato, Red Onion and Capers (Scallion CC & Pumpernickel Mini Bagel) Once I placed the order we stepped aside to wait as the lovely and patient Kayla completed my request. The manager Scottie saw us snapping photos (you know the phone must eat first) he came over to introduce himself, by saying "here take pic of this". When I turned around, he handed me a pipping hot Everything Egg Bagel to try. It was so hot & fresh we both almost burned the roof of our mouths as we shared it. I never had a bagel that didn't need any thing extra. The EVERYTHING was EVERYTHING... It was all the "razzle dazzle" in itself and the steam still swirling off of it made my mouth water. I couldn't even wait for it to cool. Once our order was up Kayla checked me out. I treated my friend and didn't realize she wanted a cookie for her tot. Kayla was nice enough to just gift her the cookie. At first I thought everyone was so nice because everything about us said "new comers," you know we looked like tourist in our own city. Lol. They are just nice and have great service, I observed how they treated everyone. As busy as they are, everyone was happy to be there and to help. The atmosphere and the staff are so welcoming and the music definitely helps the vibe. The bagel sandwiches were both amazing too much to eat @ once even the mini, 1/2 was very filling. The Yankee Clipper was good both hot and cold. I don't particularly care for cold food that should be hot. If I live close, I promised I would've order another the very next day. My kids love the egg bagel but the family is also a fan of the prosciutto, French toast, everything and cinnamon raisin bagel. If you're in the mood for a rainbow bagel, they have them here. What a nice gem in the middle of nowhere in flushing. I'd be thankful for this spot if I lived in the neighborhood. I ordered the lox with tomatoes, capers, and cream cheese which I believe is also called "was it worth it?" Or "the worth it" something worth lol it was a solid bagel. No complaints. Pretty comparable to the other famous bagel spots in Manhattan. There were tons of employees taking orders, and you can see the action since it's an open style kitchen. First thing you notice are all the delivery orders ready to be delivered. 8/10 I do recommend. Idk if it's worth taking the trip out there though. Great Bagels, Great staff. However, the staff needs to be more attentive to the clientele. I'm not here to put the staff on blast, this is just a little constructive criticism. I hope it reaches someone that can help implement it. There is always a long line in the mornings and during the weekend even more so. Rather than grinding through the line the staff is talking amongst themselves in between orders. There are times when they clearly could begin helping the next guest but instead they are chatting it up with a coworker. I know that I'm not the only one who has had this experience. Skip the gimmicks and stick to the go-to's (sesame, everything, poppy, etc.) Anyway, I had lox, scallion cc, tomato, onions, and capers on an everything and husband had a bec. If you live anywhere near New York (and like to eat) Utopia is probably on your MUST list. Mine, too. After all, this is supposed to be the very center of bagel heaven. Fortunately it's so close to Kennedy Airport, it was a tasty no-brainer when I had to meet a flight. So glad I did. With just this single visit and (somewhat) limited stomach, I can't really talk about everything available here (and from the looks of things, there's a LOT of everythings available). But what I had was exceptional and I have to think the rest would be, too. There's a vast selection of bagels, from plain to everything, from regular size ($1.75) to mini ($1) plus surprisingly delicious onion-topped bialys. More, too, but that's all I tried. And both were just right. Properly soft, pleasantly chewy, and crunchy on top - perfection in any bagelverse.... Now only a zillion other variations to try.... Not the very best bagel I'd ever eaten. That joy came from a tiny deli in Chelsea a few dozen years back. Giant, chewie, crusty, astonishing rings of heaven that were delivered only rarely from somewhere secret in Brooklyn. Fortunately, Utopia is a close second. The number of cream cheese spreads to top their bagel is vast and astonishing. I opted for the basic - cream cheese with teeny bits of lox - and couldn't stop noshing. Utopia's version is actually chunks of LOX with a bit of cream cheese and it's rich and tasty and non-stop amazing. The whitefish salad keep calling me, too, but somehow my stomach and I resisted. For now, only for now. There's so much more here. And given the number of large over-packed bags being shlepped from the counter out to the curb, everyone else must already know. As I said, I'll definitely be back. If you'd like a bite of the quintessential taste of old (real) New York, Utopia is worth the trip even without a flight to meet. read more

This is my favorite bagel place in NY! Their bagels are hand rolled and have the perfect level of crispy outside with chewy inside. They have so many different bagel options and all are very good. Their prices are also relatively inexpensive. I want to caution you that on the weekends the lines can be very very long, but they have multiple runners working to fulfill your order and they move along very efficiently. One hack that I recently started doing is placing my order for Uber eats pick up that way it's done by the time I get there! Overall the ambiance inside the bagel shop is very nice. Utopia is a Queens staple. They just have good bagels. I've basically tried every bagel flavour and every cream cheese flavour at some point. You can't go wrong. I placed a Goldbelly order after seeing they offer both bialys and French toast bagels. I've never had bialys before and absolutely loved it. It's like a fluffier cousin of bagels. Bialys doesn't getting boiled prior to baking them unlike bagels. I loved the onions in the middle that added extra savory flavor. The French toast bagels were also nice in a way that it wasn't sickly sweet. I really appreciated that because I'd hate to eat burnt bagels due to the sugar caramelizing in my oven. I also ordered bunches of plain bagels. They were also amazing and definitely make my breakfast feel indulgent every day. I never thought I like them so much. I had some spare time before a JFK flight and figured an NYC bagel would hit the spot. I'm glad I placed my order online ahead of time since the cafe was pretty busy when I came in. I order an Asiago Bagel with Low-fat Scallion Cream Cheese as well as a Hash Brown side. The bagel was decent, though the exterior could have been a bit more crispy. The Low-fat Scallion Cream Cheese was decent, but not as enjoyable as what I've had at other bagel spots. The Hash Brown was just as good as it'll get with the perfect level of crispiness and not excessively oily like some can be. Overall, Utopia is a decent spot. Moved to area a year ago and pass utopia bagels often and wondered why line so long . Since I was not eating carbs had not tried it but decided to treat myself and see what the hype was about . We have frequented many bagel spots in NY and Utopia Bagels is our new #1 spot! The variety of menu items, bagels, and cream cheese was absolutely incredible (major shout out to the Oreo cream cheese!). The establishment is large with areas to sit. Although the line is often busy, it goes by fast. Great and fast service! They are very generous with the cream cheese portions! It is not often I've come across delicious sweet cream cheese options in New York so Utopia definitely has my heart. We tried the jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese, chocolate chip bagel with chocolate cream cheese, french toast bagel with Oreo cream cheese, and a red velvet bagel with Oreo cream cheese. All the bagels were PHENOMENAL. Make sure to get them toasted! They are crispy and stuffed with cream cheese but feels light as well. The bagels are fairly priced. We had an Everything Bagel this way, and it was amazing -- ever so slightly crisp on the outside, soft and chewy inside. - "Lobster Salad BLT": $9.75. Very good. Lobster mince, with bacon, tomato, lettuce, and (optionally) mayonnaise. Negatives: - "Mini Worth It": $6.75. Lox, cream cheese, onions and capers on a bagel. Not worth it (2 of 5). The lox was mediocre; slightly soft and pasty instead of being tight. We were charged $11.75 for this -- the price of a regular-sized "Worth It." The ordering process could use an overhaul, as overcharging is mentioned in other reviews. Logistics: There is a parking lot behind the strip mall, and street parking in front. This bagel shop has easily become one of my favorite spots to get a bagel/sandwich! I've known about it for years but after it got blown up from being on Worth It, I strayed away due to the long lines. I finally came back on a Saturday early afternoon and although there was still a line, it really wasn't a bad wait at all. I only waited ~30 mins before I got my order, which was devoured almost immediately since it was that good. They have a ton of employees inside to help multiple people at once which moves things along much quicker. I decided to get a classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll (classic New Yorker, I know) along with The Worth It. The bacon, egg, and cheese was good but not mind blowing. It could use more bacon but was satisfying for a classic sandwich. The roll was fluffy but still toasted and the eggs were cooked well. The Worth It was everything I dreamed of. I customized mine with scallion cream cheese ($1 extra) on a toasted everything bagel. It comes with cream cheese, smoked salmon, tomatoes, capers and red onions (which I opted out of cause I'm not a fan of onions). Although a bit pricey ($11.50 without the upgraded cream cheese), it's still decent for Queens and cheaper than Manhattan prices. It was also very worth it. The bagel was toasted perfectly and it was stuffed with all the yummy fillings! I'm still dreaming about the bagel so you know I'll be back soon. There's also a variety of unique bagels (like prosciutto!), sandwiches, plant based options, and a whole display of baked goodies too! Having eaten here a couple times I could easily say that Utopia bagels is easily the best bagel in NYC. Thats a bold claim but they have the bagels to prove it. The bagels here have that outer crisp which isn't over done when baked and perfect doughy interior. Go with the everything bagel not toasted with scallion cream cheese the first time around. After that mess around with some of their specialty bagels and spreads which they have many. They also have a wide selection of baked good like cookies and cakes and nearly every bottled drink under the sun. Our go to spot in the neighborhood for bagels. Weekends are very hectic - the line wraps around the store. But the weekdays are quieter and we're usually able to find parking in front. They serve a variety of bagels, spreads, sandwiches and baked goods. My usual order is sliced lox with scallion cream cheese on a mini everything bagel. DELICIOUS. Today my boyfriend decided to try one of their sandwiches - She's so Parm (chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto cooked with their spicy vodka sauce). When we got to the car, ready to devour the sandwiches, we noticed the mozzarella cheese wasn't melted like their pics on yelp and ig. Instead it seemed like they threw on the cheese after heating up everything else. Ten refrigerator doors full of juices, sodas, waters ... every imaginable drink. I try to avoid the bakery cases. They even have a case with 1/2 dozen frozen bagels. 30+ varieties of cream cheese from blueberries, tofu, pimentos, chocolate, vegetables, strawberries, low-fat... We come here for the best bagels.
