This bagel spot has been in the community for years. They renovated the store a few years ago and it looks very nice. I used to frequent them more often years ago. However, I cut back on the bagels, lol. They keep their store clean and there is limited seating. Recently I've been craving bagels and stopped in here for my fix.lol I did give up my raisin bagel and now opt for the whole wheat. The bagels are so fresh and delicious. Located between Rego and Forest Hills, Bagel Chef is an unassuming corner bagel place with bagels made in house. I stopped by for my usual everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was perfectly toasted with just the right amount of topping where it doesn't cause a cascade of flying debris with each bite. The cream cheese is light and on the fluffier side. Note there are no mini sizes, just standard sized bagels. They also have good coffee (both regular and decaf, hot and iced) and most importantly they take card with no stated minimum! There is some seating inside, and staff are welcoming and friendly. Local bagel spots deserve the hype too, and as much as I'd love to line up for [insert popular bagel joint], this place fills my bagel fix nicely. read more

I got the healthy human omelette which was good but was little dry and very thin definitely possibly the thinnest omelette I've had in a long time. It says it's made with 3 eggs but definitely didn't seem that way. The omelette also came with a choice of a bagel on the side, I got the everything bagel which was pretty good and crispy just the way I like it. The staff is very friendly and helpful. For a small spot, they had a lot of options on their menu. Maybe their lunch sandwiches would be better. I wasn't feeling anything fancy so I went with a BEC on a roll. It was okay, it was a pretty thin sandwich. Maybe I'm just used to thick BECs but this one was underwhelming. Staff was friendly. Lots of people coming in and out for pickup orders. There are several tables and bar seats if you choose to eat in. Parking is difficult in the area. read more

I ordered from them quite a few times. Never had a problem with the delivery driver until today. He complained that he wanted more tip. I ordered home fries coffee a drink and a croissant not that much the store is up the block for me about 400 ft and he complained about the tip I left a 10% tip I felt very uncomfortable and I don't think I'm going to order from them anymore one they got too expensive also read more

Nothing overall different than any other bagel store (fyi no flat, mini and salt bagels) There is one very big exception. All other bagel stores have breakfast specials even fast food places and dunkin donuts. Most if not all of the bagel stores in area has $5.00 breakfast specials. I now go to Dunkin Donuts right down the block I get a medium ice or hot coffee with two sausage/bacon egg and cheese wraps for $5.00 w/tax $5.44 all day, so I stopped going to bagel store. Rego bagels on 63rd drive has a special and Gotta a Bagel on 71st. most others as well. However, if you don't mind spending more for less it's all good. It is hard to get a seat as many locals sit for what appears to be hours some not even ordering anything or at best a small coffee. Music is very loud and I do like the ambiance of background music but you can't even hear yourself think lol. As far as the staff goes only good things to say about them, especially the girl. There are 2 owners not fond of the tall one with glasses somewhat arrogant. They do have a nice selection of bagel toppings. I like there whitefish salad, tuna and olive and veggie cc. If they start to give breakfast specials I will return. read more

Talk about going downhill fast. Firstly. Never any salt bagels. Never any mini bagels. Today. No onion. No garlic. Who wants plain bagels all the time? What is going on. And let's talk about quantity. Just a smear of cream cheese not the amount other bagel places put on. Then they have the nerve to charge for extra when they finally give you a decent amount. The other day the charge was 7.75 ish and I got singles back, no coin. Thanks for keeping my change - which I always put in the tip jar anyway. Oh well no tip that day. So after going for breakfast to The Bagel Spot located at 101-01 Queens Blvd. in Forest Hills weekly since they opened, I finally decided to try some items from their lunch menu. So on Sunday, I ordered a Turnpike Wrap, Barcelona Panini, Onion rings, and chicken tenders. All had to be cooked from scratch, but nevertheless, my order was delivered within 25 minutes of my placing it. I already consumed the first three items, and they were delicious. The 4th item will be eaten later today. Big portions, quality ingredients, reasonable prices, and love from the owners --Reuben and Stephen (in alphabetical order) -- go into their food. Needless to say, I highly recommend them and hope that they stick around our neighborhood for a very long time. read more

Inconsistent. I first tried this place a couple weeks ago. Had a bagel with lox and cream cheese. Every was fresh and tasted great. Came back a week later, same order, they gave me a stale bagel, which had obviously been left sitting out AT LEAST from the prior day. Not fresh at all. I ordered food from them on Ubereats. The pictures of their food looked great. However the food I received did not look like anything in the picture. The scrambled eggs were partially burnt, the home fries were extra large cuts of potatoes with no seasoning , no peppers, the turkey bacon overcooked. I've gotten a good number of bagels from this store, especially during my first trimester when I couldn't keep anything down. Generally positive experiences with some recent variability in quality (burned bagels, scallions in my plain cream cheese, etc.) Today I got served by someone I didn't recognize and when I got home found an objectively inadequate amount of cream cheese on my bagel. I brought the bagel back (tipped over 30% on the original order). The person who originally helped me told me that it was my preference that this wasn't enough cream cheese and begrudgingly made a new bagel. The amount he showed on the new bagel was still less than they used to give, but I said it was fine. He then proceeded to tell me it was an extra amount of cream cheese with a lot of attitude. And cut me off aggressively when I tried to explain I've had a lot of bagels from there and never received the same amount with it being called "extra". Very disappointed in the service, never had a negative service interaction here before but this whole experience was enough for me to not come back. read more

I'm sorry to say that I was very disappointed with this place. I ordered a toasted raisin bagel with lox spread and it cost $8.50 (pretty steep imo) BUT what made it bad was that the bagel was hard and stale! How can a bagel shop sell stale bagels at 8am?? Will not return. read more

While I just started going here for a breakfast sandwich, I have noticed that every time I return the sandwich is less and less appealing, the sandwich was made extremly sloppy, bacon was NOT well done as requested, asked for 2 eggs only got one ( paid for 2).
