If I could give this location a 0 I would. I have worked and lived in the neighborhood for more than 20 years and I have had issues with their customer service in the past, but today was the worst. I called my order in so that it could be ready when I got to the store. The woman who answered had a hard time understanding what I was saying and I admit it, I had a hard time understanding her as well even though I am bilingual and fluent in both English and Spanish. Let's chuck it off to a misunderstanding but she chose to go back and forth with me on the phone. Finally placing my order and letting her know that I didn't need anything else, I hung up and when I was ready, walked over to pick up my lunch and my daughter's lunch who attends The Louis Armstrong School. When I got to the store, this woman had not prepared my food and at that moment took the chicken out the fridge to put in the microwave. I was in shock and honestly, pissed off that my order was not prepared considering my daughter and I had just about 10 minutes to get to school and work. THIS woman did this on purpose, because of her ego she chose not to prepare my food and therefore my daughter had to go to school without her lunch today. I hope they can sleep tonight knowing that they have an employee that is so spiteful that she would purposefully choose NOT TO DO HER JOB!!! They have lost a long time client, and I will tell anyone who chooses to purchase or eat at this establishment not to do so. WHAT HAPPENED? We've been diehard patrons for years. Three weeks ago I wasn't feeling well, so I called to order delivery and was on hold for over 8 minutes "we're busy." So I go back in person today. There is no shortage of employees but there is absolutely no direction. After waiting with no one ahead of me in line, the usual cashier who has been milling about came to take my order. I repeated it twice, he grabbed bagels and then he disappeared never to be seen again during this visit. Another person asked me to confirm my order. I repeated it a third time. They said okay. Then they came back and asked "you want Turkey Bacon?" No--I never said turkey bacon nor did I order turkey bacon. Today, or ever in my life. Just crispy bacon like a normal human. I go to pay, and the new cashier repeats my order, just as I ordered it the three times I repeated it today, never again mentioning turkey bacon. While the bagels continue to shrink and the cost was much higher than usual, I paid and went on my way. At home, of course the bagel sandwich is made with turkey bacon. Why bother having customers order if you are just going to prepare whatever you feel like and charge them for your mistakes? It has been nearly ten years of Sunday bagels here, and while the food is good (even though it is shrinking) the staff incompetency makes this increasingly less appealing. read more

Just judging by the outside the place is dirty full of pigeon droppings, which by the way is a health hazard. Once you go in is also dirty, I ended up with food poisoning. So eat there at your own risk !!! Droppings can also spread disease, and exposure to the birds could cause illness, especially in those who are immunocompromised. Pigeons themselves can carry a variety of parasites, such as ticks. If you have a significant pigeon problem, it may be worth contacting a professional who can use the proper tools and techniques to keep the birds away. read more

The bagels here are fresh, chewy and amazing. I got a bunch of bacon eggs and cheeses on a toasted bagel for my colleagues, and they all loved it. They make it fresh so it does take a few minutes, but it's totally worth it. It's a no frills place and it's straight to the point. I'm pretty sure I finished my bagel in about 2 minutes, it was that good! They also have some sides like home fries, but the bagels are the star. There's a whole case of different types of bagels, so there's quite a variety. If you're ever in the area, I recommend getting breakfast for here. These are the best bagels in Jackson Heights. Yea there is a relatively new place opened from Manhattan on Roosevelt and their bagels look good but Bagel House beats them on flavor. The bagels here have a great crust, chew and just the right density. I ordered a number 9 which is a grill chicken sandwich. I ordered it on a roll which is the only adjustment I made. The chicken was burned, it was dry. I only ate it because I was hungry and on the way to work so I didn't have time to stop anywhere else. A waste of $7 bucks. So today was my first time trying this location. I've been looking for a good bagel location near my job. Well I think I found my new spot. There was parking right in front of the establishment. I went around 12pm. The lady that took my order was very pleasant. They staff made my breakfast sandwich pretty fast. The sandwich was very tasty. The egg and cheese on a toasted bagel was very good. I've never had an egg and sesame bagel that was new, but it was good. I will definitely be returning. Oh and the price wasn't bad at all. read more

Delicious! One of the few old school bagel shops left in the area. Their whitefish spread is on point and the staff are fast and friendly.

Worst customer service. I have seen the gentleman in the register is rude and obnoxious with customers for no reason. If you ask a question he sarcastically responds. He clearly looks unhappy and miserable, not a great way to serve people starting out their day. This place is like an institution. I never realized it has such good food until recently. I know about it because a lot of the stories the older people from my building tell me start with things like... "That lady goes around the bagel house saying....." "He thinks he owns the bagel house or something..." "I saw her at the bagel house the other day and I didn't even say hi..." and so on and so forth. So for years, I stayed my butt out the bagel house, because I didn't want people talking about me or watching me or all up in my business...I was like...really? all this hoopla over some bagels? How is all of this stuff going on in this small place?! But recently out of necessity, I have grabbed some sandwiches and bagels from the bagel house and the smoked turkey sandwich with brie and sun dried tomatoes was great. Fantastic... I can see why these people gravitate towards the place...I feel like im 16 all over again trying to sneak into the club... This place most definitely has the best bagel I've ever eaten in Queens and I'm so happy that they're in my neck of the woods. Bagels should be chewy, doughy, firm but not too firm that it can be mistaken as stale. The really know how to get em' just right - their bagels with cream cheese take me back to when I was in high school and in a relationship with everything bagels from a Pick-A-Bagel on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. I ate those bagels every morning in secret so I didn't have to share when I got to my school's auditorium because I was hungry and breakfast was....OK ENOUGH RANTING. Aside from creamy, cream cheese bagels, I've also done their breakfast sandwiches. Super reasonably priced goodness with fluffy scrambled egg, yummy turkey sausage, melted yummy cheese and just the right about of salt and pepper on a toasted & buttered BAGEL. Clientele -wise, Bagel House IV is pretty humorous because people are just chattering away in Spanish for the most part and everyone kind of sounds like they're gossiping. I could easily see this place in a South American soap opera (novelas). Staff-wise, everyone is super friendly. Sometimes I just look at their menu and say nothing and they'll chime in to help me figure out what I want, then I proceed to get what I always order because I'm a creature of habit and they're good at what they do so why fix it if it's not broken? Every time I am craving bagels-- I have to come to this place. Their bagels are very fresh and the best for far in that area. My favorite is the Walnut spread in a Raisin or everything bagel. Great bagels! They have the crunch on the outside and the softness on the inside. Classic NYC bagels. They have a bunch of types, but they are a limited in the cream cheese options they offer. The have the standard(veggie, scallion, etc), but they don't get too wild with the options. That's fine for me, but someone expecting fat free strawberry pecan cream cheese will be disappointed. This is my public service announcement. There's a joke in there about NYC bagel eaters, but the point is I love these guys since I moved into the neighborhood and I'm happy with what they offer. I used to like this place but recently, they've been screwing up my order. One time I ordered and I was short on change, gave the lady $5 and said I'm going to the car to get $2. I come back in and she gave it to someone else and told me someone paid for my order and left. They tried to take my $5 at first but then had me wait another 15 minutes (30 in total) for another order. Now today, I ordered over the phone about 10 minutes ago, they said I never called there's no order for it, asked me if I'd would wait, then tells me there's none. I sat here and waste gas and time, not only that, I would've had to wait another 15 minutes for my order. These people are unorganized, waste your time and money. At the very least they should compensate. I'm done giving them my business. Now I have to go back to work hungry. This place is trash. read more

Grabbed a bagel around noon. I had a pumpernickel bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagel was tougher than I hoped. It had good flavor from the fennel seeds, but it didn't have the airy inside and crispy outside that I look for in a bagel. The service was very quick and it costed under $6 for a bagel with spread alongside an orange juice. Probably have to stop in earlier in the morning right after the bagels are made. read more
