Best things from Uthai in my opinion are their drunken noodles and pad see-ew. I have ordered their pad thai before but I really do not like it. The texture of the noodles were too mushy and it just didn't have a lot of flavor. The first two noodle dishes I mentioned are super flavorful and the noodles still have bite to them. I have also ordered the wings (good) and the curry puffs (good). Wings were crispy and flavorful. Curry puffs were very unique and the exterior was flaky. It came with a minty dipping sauce that complimented the puffs well. One thing I don't like about Uthai is that they don't read instructions when ordering through an online food ordering system. I'll specify that I don't need utensils, but they will put utensils in the bag anyways. I get it's sometimes hectic and things are done out of muscle memory, but disregarding a customer's wishes is no good. read more

One day I was really In the taste for some Thai food and i chose to order from Uthai using the doordash app. The food came, it smelled mouthwatering so I could not wait to dig in. So I sat down got comfortable, took my first bite and was very disappointed and unsatisfied. The food was so bland that I had to season it and jazz it up myself. I felt like the smell had catfished me. Let me also let you know for 2 orders of drunken noodles one with shrimp and one with chicken, with an order of spring rolls , came up to a total price of $45.62. After I jazzed it up , it started coming together every bite , but for $40+ I shouldn't have to tweak the meal once delivered. Ordered delivery for the first time today and really liked the food. We got the pineapple fried rice, the red curry with shrimp, the thai basil with mock duck, and the curry puffs. Overall I really liked the food. The delivery was on time and the delivery guy was very pleasant. What I thought: Pineapple fried rice - a touch salty, but went well while eating the other dishes. There were 5 big shrimp in the dish and the bowl was packed to the top. Perfect portion for at least 2-3 people. Shrimp was PERFECTLY cooked. Usually after delivery, the shrimp get overcooked and are rubbery, but this was awesome. Shrimp Red Curry - wow wow wow. One of the best curries I've had via take out. The texture of the curry was rich and luxurious. The shrimp, just like the pineapple fried rice, was perfect. The curry was nice and spicy, which was good because I usually like it on the spicier side. Mock Duck Thai Basil - this dish was not the star of the order but it had good flavor. Unfortunately, I didn't like the texture of the mock duck. I've had better in the area. Lots of veggies (string beans, carrots, and onions, that were cooked well though. Curry puffs - HUGE. I usually order food from UThai since their delivery is in my area. I never get charged from delivery fee. This time I order the same dishes as usual, I got charged $5 sth without being informed. Then, I called the restaurant and asked. They told me they forgot to call and let me know. My issue was not about money, it's about if the policy was changed you should let the customers know before hand. I would recommend the Pad Thai with mock duck. It was very tasty and not too oily at all. Don't let the noodles sit out for too long or else they will dry and the noodles will stick together. Be careful if you have a peanut allergy. A few nuts are on the side. I usually get edamame and pop them into my Pad Thai. Get some more fiber for the day and extra greens in. Their Tom Kha Gai is very good too. They add a lot of mushrooms which add to the flavor. Didn't like the onions but you can always remove them. I tried Yelp's delivery option with this restaurant and the app gave me a crazy estimate of 75 minutes... the food arrived in 45 minutes. So either the app was crazy wrong or these guys make and deliver the food very fast. I'll go with the latter. read more

This was by far the worst Thai food I have ever tried in my life. My boyfriend and I ordered chicken pad Thai, pineapple fried rice and fried calamari through uber eats. The chicken pad Thai was DRENCHED in sauce which made it extremely salty and unpleasant. I couldn't even eat it without downing a whole glass of water because that was literally how disgusting it tasted. The pineapple fried rice was the exact opposite of what I described. It was completely BLAND. The calamari was so soggy that the fried flour around the calamari easily slipped off the squid. I looked through some of their old food pictures and it definitely doesn't look like what we got so maybe they changed the chef. Whatever we got was a total disgrace. This is my favorite spot for Thai food! I've ordered pickup and delivery from them multiple times. I really love their Pad See-Ew and it's my go-to dish. My favorite is the beef pad see-ew. Drunken noodles are really good here as well! I love their Papaya salad. It reminds me of the papaya salad my grandma makes (my family is from Cambodia, and I have yet to find an authentic Cambodian restaurant in NYC, but Bok Lahong is very similar to the papaya salads in Thai and Vietnamese cuisines too). And I know crab rangoons are Americanized, but I really love them too -- really crispy and fun to eat! Mango avocado salad is delicious as well, and I love the crunchiness of the mangoes they use (plus the cashews!). The curry is perfectly spicy too and there's always extra that you can mix your rice into later. If you order pickup in person, be sure to bring cash because it's cash only. I didn't realize this, and one time, before the pandemic, I went to order but didn't bring enough cash so it was a bit awkward. I deducted one star because I tried the crispy duck pad-see ew last night, and for the priciest add-on, I was expecting the duck to be better. The duck skin was not crispy at all, and the duck meat was very bland. I wouldn't recommend the duck here, but all their other dishes I've tried have been great. read more

This hole in a wall serves one of the best Thai dishes in New York. They cater more to take out/deliveries than dine in customers. It's a small and cozy restaurant so I wouldn't recommend bringing a huge group of people. The food was delicious and good for take out and delivery. Our server was amazing! The guy was very attentive and refilled our water often and you'll find it! A+ for great service. I was feeling a little adventurous and decided to cater Thai food for a party of about 40-50 people. I mean, who doesn't love Thai food right?! I found them via yelp after checking out other places which were either unreasonably expensive or opens late therefore not able to have the food ready by my 12:30pm start time. I did not expect it to be a takeout / fast food kind of restaurant so I was shocked when we first entered. One of the workers there, Eka, printed out the catering menu for us since we had called an hour earlier to let him know we want to come in. That really impressed me. Upon reviewing the catering menu we were delighted as to how affordable this place is, plus it seems super legit with a decent stream of customers coming in. I brought in my own half-size party tray to compare sizes as sometimes the whole "half tray" and "full tray" gets confusing and I want to make sure I order enough food without ordering too, too much. When I showed him my tray, he had told me their standard tray is just slightly larger than my half tray. With that knowledge we decided to order 2 trays of chicken pad Thai, 2 trays Thai fried rice and 3 trays of chicken wings (I also ordered many sandwiches from Joju and even 2 pizza pies from a local pizzeria). Needless to say we ordered too much food. But here is why they unfortunately only get two stars... 1. Cash only. I do not understand why they are cash only for large orders particularly since they accept credit cards for catered orders on the website EZCaters.com. I wish they would've told us that option. This is important for those who have small businesses who wishes to write off for tax purposes or those who simply wants the points from a credit card. 2. The day after we placed our orders and after we had already given over a 50% cash deposit, we got a phone call from Eka who told us he had forgotten they open later on the weekends so will not be able to have our food ready by the agreed 11:30am time, but that it has to be 12pm. Unfortunately since the party starts at 12:30pm and we have to pick up the food ourselves, we told them we need it by 11:45am then. They said okay. 3. After we placed our orders in person, we were told we can always change our orders prior to the day of the party. Two days before the party we told them we had wanted to change the two trays of Thai fried rice to one tray of basil fried rice and one tray pineapple fried rice instead. We also added an order of drunken noodles. It was confirmed. The day we picked up the food, we got our added drunken noodles but the 2 trays of Thai fried rice which we no longer wanted was never changed! No compensation nor discount were given, but then again I was not present to push for it and my husband who is the nicer one (who also avoids confrontation) didn't say anything! Ugh. Either way, they should've offered on their own since they messed up. Even if it's just a small something like 5% off or anything! So some of the food place cards I had prepared at home beforehand were rendered useless. Worse part was that the fried rice we didn't even want was overly salty and not good. And we have two large trays of this! Two guests even brought up after the party that the fried rice was no bueno and made me feel worse. 4. The trays we had ordered which were supposed to be just "slightly larger" than the half tray I had presented was literally two times larger which meant I ordered two times more food than I should've! Which also means we spent two times more than we should've. We had an unopened tray of fried rice and pad Thai at the end... I love pad Thai so I didn't mind that as much but that darn fried rice... 5. Oh and when we picked up the food, we asked for serving utensils and they gave us regular forks and spoons. Usually when you cater, restaurants provides the large serving utensils. Luckily I had some prepared... I didn't try the drunken noodles nor the chicken wings myself as I was too busy hosting but I heard those were pretty good. The chicken pad Thai noodles were very broken up from cooking, but I thought it was relatively tasty. When we first left the restaurant after placing the orders we were very excited to have found this gem with workers who seem to be really appreciative of our patronage. We were thinking how we wanted to come back already! But unfortunately with all these mistakes and mishaps, I just cannot find myself giving them any more than two stars at the moment. Wish I could give this place more stars. Ordered over Seamless. Delivery was a good 30minutes earlier than the ETA. For $60, the portions were TINY. Drunken noodles with shrimp was great but order was small- came with 5 small shrimps. Green curry was okay but felt slightly watered down in flavor. Roti Canai was terrible. The roti was flat and greasy, curry tasted odd; I didn't want to risk it so I tossed it out. Veggie medley was salty but flavorful, but realllly small portion, only came up to about 1/3 of the plastic container kind of small. The mango sticky rice dessert was yummy, but less than half a mango. Overall it felt like lunch portions for dinner prices.
