Beer was great and I was happy they had such traditional syrups for their weisse. I was happy that they had a mix of beer styles, not just traditional German beers, and other types of alcoholic beverages. The food truck was nice and there were so many cool seating areas outside. So much room indoors too! This would have been a 5 star experience if this location did not have more mosquitoes than I have ever experienced. Especially since mosquito borne disease is at a high right now, this wasn't the most relaxing experience. Please get some pest control Utepils! Apparently my friends were more interested in debating if the Hefeweizen smelled like banana or not to talk about the actual brewery and such. I thought it was super dope all around. The atmosphere is popping, the music is bumping, and dare I say the beer is bubbling. Like I said, I was pretty distracted by my friends very boring discussion of the smell of the Hefeweizen, but not so distracted I couldn't enjoy the beer. I got the five year German Pilsner which I would 100 percent get again. My wife got a raspberry kolsch which was delectable. Overall, I really enjoyed it here! This is a gem of a Neighborhood brewery. Others here have already commented on the chill vibe and outdoor space and I couldn't agree more. The space out back is amazing and a great place to bring your pooch or your little ones. Seemed like a lot of folks were visiting on bike here too. When I visited they had a local artist's market set up and a good chicken food truck out front. The beer was also solid. I enjoyed my amber ale and my friends enjoyed their Kolsch l, the blond, and Pilsners. Didn't think Ipa was best but don't think that's where they are trying to establish themselves. Recently started frequenting Utepils! I LOVE the atmosphere and the outdoor string lights. They're very biker-friendly with plenty of space to park/lock up your bikes and it feels very safe. Kind of an industrial area tucked away off the beaten path on the river. Friendly staff, awesome drinks, cool merch, regular group rides on Wednesdays for women and Sundays for everyone and all skill levels... just an awesome place!!!! I went here for an event and really liked it. The facilities are wonderful. A huge indoor sitting area greets guests to enjoy conversation and cold beverages. It also looked like there was an amazing patio but I didn't get out there to check it out. The staff was hugely helpful. I asked about the darkest beer and was educated on the many options and provided with samples for 3 beers. It was a great opportunity learn and try options. I forgot to take a pic of my beer and forgot the name (what a horrible reviewer!). You'll have to trust me that it's worth the visit. The owner spoke before the event and I was so impressed with his story of keeping workers employed during COVID and their strategies for keeping patrons safe. Parking was sort of all over. I was behind a building about a block away and over some old train tracks but my car was safe and there when I got out so all OK. Great visit! read more

Ive lived in Minneapolis for about a year and this has quickly become one of my favorite spots. I love wheat/Hefeweizen style beers and the cities as a whole is certainly lacking in this area. Ewald the Golden is just a gem of a beer. It's so deliciously smooth and full of flavor. I personally vote this #1 beer in the twin cities. Outside of the great beer, it's been such an awesome atmosphere throughout the year. At the end of last summer, we discovered how easily this brewery is accessed off the bike trail and really enjoyed riding there on nice days and enjoying a beer in the backyard beer garden. This winter, the outside beer garden was fantastic and clearly a hit for all of those seeking a way to still get together and connect over beers safely, despite the pandemic. Most recently we visited and sat inside, looking out towards the back and felt perfectly safe snd enjoyed it just as much! Anyways, I can't say enough good things about this brewery! read more

I've got 4 years of office reviews for Utepils! When we first moved here, we walked down the street to check out the local brewery that had also moved in to Harrison a few months earlier. It's been so fun to watch them grow with us. Or first big event experience with then was Oktoberfest 2017. What a night!! And it only got better after that. Can't wait to tear it up in 2021! Last year, there weren't many places to go safely during 2020. The big open patio area on Bassett creek made for the perfect spot to when we needed to just GET OUT. Reservations were smooth and getting a spot was always easy. They really had a top notch system in place and we were happy to continue to support them as we could. We love bringing family here when they visit! There's always something fun going on. We've been to a few meat raffles, hoping to win something one day, but it's always fun no matter what. Oh, and the beer! When they aren't mixing small batches (the banana and the blueberry muffin last summer was incredible) you can always find me with a tall glass of Alt 1848. One of the most consciously aware, proactive and safe breweries during the Covid pandemic. They have taken precautions through out the pandemic to keep their customers and staff safe. They have options of inside and outdoor seating. They are very proactive on cleaning the tables in between customers. They have updated their air ventilation system. I've been coming to Utepils since it opened in 2017. I have never had an issue with customer service. This evening, I went to the counter to order and started by asking the employee "how are you doing tonight?". Keep in mind, there was no one else waiting to order, they were not busy. This employee's reaction was to stare at me in a hostile way and reply "....What do you need". The tone was disrespectful and dismissive. I replied with "What do I need?" in an annoyed way and walked away. I did not want to deal with his attitude and shouldn't have to with so many employees. No other words were exchanged as I walked away. I attempted to order from another employee that was working the other side of the bar. This same individual stopped what he was doing at the register, then walked directly over to me in an aggressive way and cut me off. He kept saying "what do you need" over and over to try and start the same altercation. He was at the point of yelling in front of the entire building. No doubt making people uncomfortable. He told me I had to order with him, or no one. I pushed back on that and he immediately jumped to how he was going to eject me from the brewery. Keep in mind, this is just some normal employee working the bar, not the manager (or owner). I walked away again and went outside when I realized this exchange was going nowhere. If the manager was there and seeing this, they should have stepped in immediately. After about 20 minutes, I returned to the outside window to ask to speak with a manager. The same individual came directly to the window and confronted me again. He ignored my request to speak with management and continued to try and intimidate me to do things his way. Finally, after a back and forth, he walked over to the manager, turns around (immediately) and tells me "they are too busy to speak with you". I asked for an apology and the response was "I did nothing wrong, so I will not apologize". This is the worst customer service experience I've had in Minneapolis. I understand people have bad days, but this was on a different level of disrespect / childishness. His behavior was completely unacceptable and so was management's response. If someone caught me speaking to a customer this way at my place of business, I would be terminated immediately. Utepils needs to retrain this individual and whoever is in charge of them. If you can't control your employee, deescalate a problem, or talk to a customer one on one about a complaint: then you're in the wrong position read more

I've been here a few times now, intrigued by the Norwegian influence. Not far from where I live, easy parking in a warehouse area, and casual atmosphere. They do not have food but there is usually a food truck parked outside on the weekends and for events. I've experienced most of their brews, and in general they have a little more hops. My friends compare their Springbok to a Sam Adams (this brew is not hoppy). They have a few TVs playing sports, one pool table, and a shelf full of board games. They also have a patio on the side of the building surrounded by trees. Nice and close to Theodore Wirth Park. I see many families and a variety of age groups enjoying this place. Its never usually overcrowded. Overall, there hasn't been an OMG brew for me here, but everything is very drinkable and I love the location and calm atmosphere. They card at the entrance which is nice for quick ordering! read more

This is a really cool brewery to visit in my opinion. You get this huge, open, rustic feel coming in. You get to see the huge, stainless steel fermenters up-close in-person right at the entrance and then the bar is farther up. The ceilings are tall and there is lots of natural light coming in. TVs are spread throughout the inside for, of course, sports watching. They have a free pool table and boards games to play with friends and the fam. Outside, is a cute patio with plenty of seating right neck to the creek. There is also a fire pit going during the evening. When we went, the red wagon food truck was at the entrance if you needed any food. My beer was alright and so were the prices. Service and quick. They have some cool merch as well. My favorite part about Utepils is that it's 300 feet from our kickball league fields. Makes for the perfect stop for us after our games every week! The atmosphere is cool-high ceilings and cool string lights. They could use a few more tables, as it gets busy quick. I also wish they had more seating outside on their patio! I can't drink beer (GF) so am only going off of friends' reviews of the beer, but people like Ewald the Brilliant best. My boyfriend works for a beer company so he's a bit picky and rates the beer selection about 3/5. A bit bummed they don't do any cider or gluten free beer, so I always have to get an artisan (read: overpriced) ginger ale bottle when I'm here. They do have games and stuff for groups to play, and a few long tables that are good for kickball teams especially! ;) read more

I have never in my life. Had such a delicious beer. I went on vacation to visit a friend. I ended up here and it blew my mind how beautiful it really is. The whole place is very clean and gorgeous and the people are wonderful and the staff is wonderful. They even charged my phone I mean, I bought the sweatshirt I got the patch I drink the beer and I had a wonderful time while I was there. I played pool with my friends all night and went out on the back patio and enjoyed ourselves. The only problem I have with this place is that they don't ship their beer to me. I'm in Florida and I cannot get this beer anywhere and I'm really sad because of it. Minneapolis is beautiful and this is the crown jewel of Minneapolis. I don't know her name but the bartender with the long blonde hair that loves. Zelda was one of my favorite people I met there. I highly recommend this place to everybody and anybody. read more

Utepils Brewing is a great go to spot for some local craft brews. The space is large and unique. I'm not sure what it used to be, but it's definitely an old re-purposed property. Perhaps it was a factory of some sort. They brew their own beer there, something you will notice the moment you walk in because the hops aroma is unmistakable. They don't serve food there, but they often have a food truck in the parking lot. They also have a nice beer garden in the back too. So if the weather is nice, go take your beers outside. The property backs up against Bassett Creek, and they have seating areas that overlook the creek which is a nice touch. The beers are solid. I like IPA's but they have others as well, lagers, pilsners, stouts and other seasonals. Come and bring your beer appetite. read more

So I'll start by saying that we hit this taproom on a night where I just wasn't feeling it. I had been soured by the first 2 taprooms of the night, wasn't drinking much and generally was in a meh mood. By the time I found my way here, found my way in to the poorly signed/lit driveway/parking lot and in the door I was just a smidge grumpy. Then the place was full so we could only find space standing at the bar. It was too late and I'm too lazy to be happy about that. I ordered a short pour of the Hefeweizen and was very pleasantly surprised. It was easy to drink and very mild. I enjoyed it. My husband had the Pilsner which I also thought was very good. I also LOVED the glass it came in. I would like to see a few more beer options here, though they did have kombucha and some other stuff (maybe a cold press coffee?) and sodas. The space is quite large, very open, loud (a common complaint from me), but I thought it was pretty nicely done. It felt kind of quaint. They have a pool table which is a nice touch - I appreciate taprooms that have something other than board/card games to occupy some time. (and more should have popcorn!!) It was dark so I didn't get to see what was outside, but apparently they have a patio/beer garden? They did mention that they have been asking their landlords for more lighting in the parking lot. It is very dark and not a great lot. Its hard to know how to get in to the place - or even which building it is when you turn down the street. Just know you need to go over the train tracks towards the multi-color lit building and Utepils is on the very end. I think if I had been here on a different night I would have enjoyed it more. I guess its not fair to give a lower score based on my bad mood, but if they could get the place better lit and offer a few more beer options I"d be happy to bump up my review! read more

Another fine brewery for the Twin Cities. We enjoyed all of the beers we tried, and loved the beer garden. It was a Friday evening, and there was a band playing that was pretty good. It's a huge facility inside and a decent sized beer garden. We didn't have to wait too long to get a table, but you might want to get there early if there's a band. There were lots of kids running around, they seem to be enjoying themselves as well. The only disappointments were: there wasn't a food truck, even though there was supposed to be according to the website. Just left many in my party hungry, which is never a good thing when you're drinking. Hopefully they won't ask that food truck to come back, since it didn't show up. The other disappointment was for some reason I couldn't get some of the beers I wanted to try in a flight, so I had to order a full sized one to try the doppelbock. I thought maybe it was because it was a heavy beer, but it was only 7%, so I couldn't figure out why they wouldn't allow it in a flight. But other than that, we enjoyed ourselves very much and will be back- but next time we will bring our own food in!! read more

The space is huge and there is are a ton of huge stainless fermenters and mash tuns and all the good brewing stuff you need. - Drinks only on this stop - We stopped in for the Badass Mother Market and found the setting to be perfect. The back wall has large windows, which really brightens up the space. I enjoyed a Belgian IPA (and learned a bit about that style while drinking it) and The Hubster had a Kolsch (his summer go-to beer). Both were tasty and fresh. We spent the non-shopping time outdoors watching over the banks of Bassett Creek. The extended 'yard' includes chairs, picnic tables and a fire pit. It likely helps to maintain order because I imagine - with beer so yummy - that the brewery gets pretty crowded! read more

My wife and I were able to get out of the apartment and enjoy some great local beers here at Utepils Brewing! We recently moved from Milwaukee and was missing local beer so we met up with some friends (social distancing taking place) and Utepils Brewing did a great job of managing people with reservations and allotted times for each table so everyone was able to enjoy the atmosphere without feeling rushed to chug their beer. The Brewery was incredibly clean and lots of hand sanitizer available to stay Covid free! We both drank the hefeweizen which was smooth and citrusy and would highly recommend it to anyone! Love this tucked away brewery in Minneapolis off Highway 55! The beers here are German and Czech style/inspired beers (Pilsner, Bavarian style Hefeweizen, Kölsch etc). The atmosphere is great at this place with a large venue, availability of guest to bring outside food, food truck outside, and a great value for what you get. Long pours are $5 and short are $3.50. My favorite beer from them is their "Totally Wirth It" Dry Irish stout beer and their "Copagetic" Kölsch style beer. They offer growlers for $15, $12 for a refill. Are there an endless number of great taprooms in the cities? This is another good one. Utepils is off Glenwood and we stopped in for one on the way downtown. Massive high ceilinged space which was fairly crowded for a Wednesday night. Tried their classic Czech Pilsner which was outstanding. There is large open space outside right on Basset Creek where they have Adirondack chairs and picnic tables. Rustic but a great place to relax outside. Will be back soon. read more

First time at the brewery/taproom even though I've purchased Ewald the Golden and Copacetic at Trader Joe's. First impression is old warehouse. Inside was very spacious. Bellied up to bar and tried: BRD Be ready to drink lager helles, I gave a 5 on untapped. Also tried Tmave a lager, also gave a 5. Patrons were nice and I sat outside with my dog by a fire pit. I found this brewery using Google maps but really don't know where its by. Will probably return if in area again. Dogs allowed outside on patio only. read more
