First time trying out this place. Wooden Ship is a very small niche brewery situated in the middle of residential white picket fence heaven, if you're into that sort of thing. In fact a neighbor across from the patio was literally painting his white picket fence! So, it's a unique setup for a mpls brewery taproom from the start. I walked in and was assaulted by a sickeningly sweet smell. Not sure if that's them brewing up their beet beer (beet beer--WHY?!) We both ordered the Saison. It had decent belgian notes but it was half-flat and a little sweet for my taste. It's nice they have a patio but it's beset by constant traffic from 44th St on one side and a parking lot with porta pottys on the other. Not exactly getting any fresh air. Moreover, the seating at picnic tables and high tops with cheap un-cushioned bar stools felt pretty half assed but that went along with the overall theme. They allow outside food and had a food truck operating when we went there which was a plus. Ultimately neither one of us were thrilled with our first tap so we bailed. Can't speak on the entire tap line but unlikely we will come back unless our friends ask us to. So almost nearly there in every respect but not quite. 3.75/5 rounding up to 4. read more

Was nearby and checked out our Pub Pass to see if there was a place nearby to get a drink deal and Wooden Ship was the closest. What a fun little space! The interior is cozy feeling, but still has plenty of space. Beertenders were friendly and had great recommendations. There were a couple of seasonal items that looked great, so we gave them a try. Just a great stop for some local goodness. We will definitely be back! read more

We took a short cut through the neighborhood and found this brewery. Place was small but had alot of people. Daily schedule for food trucks on site, brewery does not offer food, only beer. I went to order food at the truck and had my aunt choose the beers for a flight, 4 out of 5 were sour. Order beers and flights at the counter, pay at the counter. Visited 10/26/25. Wooden Ship is such a fun neighborhood brewery. It can get busy at times, especially when cooler outside and less space, but it has the most fun experimental brews! If you like sours and unique flavors, it is definitely the place for you. Great visit in the summertime after walking Lake Harriet, but also really fun in the fall as well. Oh my god I am OBSESSED with this place! Stopped in tonight to play Initials Game Live and now I literally can't wait to go back. The taproom space is on the smaller side of the ones I've been to (maybe seats 50 or so?) and it has such a warm and cozy vibe. Anthony at the bar was an absolute star and was able to recommend some great drinks for us! They don't have a kitchen, so they occasionally have food trucks (moreso during the warmer months I think?) but regardless, you're able to bring in your own food from outside--I happened to bring in a beet salad from Broder's nearby which serendipitously paired perfectly with the beet and lemon beer I got! They also have some great NA options including kombucha, sodas, their own signature THC seltzer, and--during these colder months--$1 hot chocolate!! You can get a boozy hot chocolate for $5, but the literal one buck non-alc version was exactly what I needed tonight, and they absolutely pack on the mini marshmallows. Whenever I go to the Twin Cities for work, which is a few times a year, I seek out breweries I haven't been to before. Which isn't terribly difficult because there are so many in the Cities and many of them are excellent. The main reason I went to Wooden Ship on my late September trip was because my favorite food truck -- Amazing Momo -- was there that evening. Wooden Ship is a great place -- it's in a nice, seemingly quiet neighborhood and the venue itself is quite attractive. The staff was really nice. I had a few beers that were great and took a few home to share with my wife too. Everything about the experience was great! I'll definitely check it out again. read more

Great place to hang out and have a few beers. They normally have a food truck on site so you can get some food. The patio is great for sitting out and sipping a cold one. Dogs are welcome which is a awesome. The staff is friendly and helpful in helping you pick out the drink depending on your preferences and mood. Really small, creative brewery that's a 5 minute walk from 3 ice cream shops, 3 bakeries, a deli, and several restaurants. I'm here pretty often for their rotating taps and food trucks. The staff had always been friendly and happy to answer any questions. The tap room is pretty cramped and the patio isn't too big but they're both dog friendly. It's a nice place to grab a beer before or after getting some food nearby or walking around the lake. If they have a beer they sounds too crazy to work it's, at the worst, just "ok". We walked inside and there was a long line for the bar. It was well lit and people were sitting at tables enjoying their drinks. The drink list was projected onto a wall. The bartender was friendly and joked with us as she was taking our order. We made it just in time for happy hour which is a great deal and I highly recommend it. Our beer was good. I had "I'm over Dry January" which was strong, dark and delicious. My husband had "somebody had to say it" which was a fruited blond ale which he said was good. We sat in the tented area on the patio. There were quite a few people - families, groups of young and older people, couples of all ages and lots of well behaved dogs. They're up and coming There is always a big line I grab a bar stool Been here a few times now. Have to say they are killing it as far as crowd control is concerned. It's a pretty small brewery in a pretty trendy neighborhood. First time there I waited outside to get in. Since then, no waiting outside and have always managed to get a bar stool. Ordering Line still backs up super close to the entry door, though. Most of the patrons seem to like to sit outside on the crowded patio. Never been my jam for drinking or eating. First couple times I went most everything was in the three range for me on Untappd. They have seemed to pick it up as is often the case with new breweries. Today, all 3 sampled were four and above. I would mention names of beers had, but they rotate super heavy which is awesome! One or two at the absolute most on flagships for any brewery - no problem in that regard here. They are like a neighborhood or two away from my neighborhood. I would be willing to swap either of my two neighborhood ones out to bring this one closer to me. read more

Nice little brewery located not too far from Lake Harriet. My friends and I had done some walking around the Lake and then walked here afterwards, wasn't too far of a walk. They have indoor and outdoor seating, it was nice out so we sat outside. They have a wide beer list to choose from, something for everyone. We only had time to stay for one. I got the internet art, an IPA. There were plenty others I'd have liked to try. They don't serve food but I'm sure you could bring some in. They had some board games available I believe. Overall a nice little spot, worth checking out if you're in the area. read more

My friend and I had a few beers at Wooden Ship a few weeks ago when we were in Minneapolis for Memorial Day weekend. I loved its neighborhood vibe, its location, the beers we tried (I had an outrageously good and very surprising "155 Beets Per Minute," a sour ale made with beets and Sicilian lemon; and my friend enjoyed the two beers she tried); the fact that they have a food truck in the summer; and the outside seating. The service was great, too. The brewery is very dog-friendly and very kid-friendly. For a person without kids, the face that the ratio of kid-to-adult was almost 1:1 was a little overwhelming (I had to step around a circle of kids playing with chalk in the doorway to get inside to the bar or bathroom); I'm not used to be around so many kids! I think for most people, it's kid-friendliness will be a huge plus; it definitely has a more family-friendly vibe compared to the other brewery we went to over our weekend in Minneapolis! Stopped in yesterday, my second visit ever. My beetenders were the delightfully fun and charming Lizzy and Bridget. After having the 8.5% Leaf Obsession recommended I informed them today is a marathon, not a sprint for birthday brewery hopping so I'm trying to keep it low ABV. They directed me to the Cookout Kolsch, deliciously refreshingly light. From there I added a bit of caffeine w the Coffee Kolsch. In between the two beers I mentioned O like Cashmere hops, inquiring what are Nectaron hops? Lizzy & Bridget explain that they're a nectarine hop. Boom. Lizzy hands me a taster of International Appeal, hazy. Again, delicious! I rattled off a few beers to the beertenders, asking: what should I end today with? They directed me to 18 Hours To CLE. All my beers were delcious. Service was absolutely fabulous. Bonus! Sunday's from 12 - 2 they offer happy hour pricing, $3 off the pint size price, so more beer for essentially the price of a tulip! Lizzy also gave me a taster of the pink slushy. Delicious, but I didn't order one as.... like a rookie w that tiny glass I gave myself a cold headache. Everything was so wonderful yesterday, I am unsure where my disconnect is, that I've only been here twice in the past 18 months! Yay!! First time checking this place out and I loved it! Added bonus, I got to enjoy it without my kids :) The best way to describe this place is: not overly complicated. Nice indoor space, nice outdoor space, dog friendly, great service, awesome beer! Highly recommend one of their IPAs called, it's too cold for mittens I'm switching to gloves, their Vienna lager and Pilsner. Street parking only. Would I bring kids? It's really small inside but the patio is nice, even in the winter (they have heaters out there and it's not too bad). Beers are decent! Not incredible but good! They had some unique flavors too - one pale ale with chai vanilla which was actually pretty good. Will come back for the right occasion! FINALLY! Linden Hills gets a neighborhood bar. They are soft open for folks on the mailing list, full open in two days. The beer is, well, beer. A variety of styles, so far all executed true to form. I haven't gotten to the esoteric part of the menu yet (e.g., the ginger Weiss or currant sour), but the core is strong. It needs some pretzels and such, but those are coming, and with the demand for a third place in this neighborhood, they're going to do well. read more

My wife and I were out on our weekly trying out of new restaurants around The Twin Cities. This brewery just opened up and there was a small wait when we got there at opening time and the line grew longer and longer as we sat at our table. The service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. I tried the Weather Report IPA and the pale ale. Both were super solid! I was dumbfounded at the server we had tonight(11/1). We asked for a recommendation for a light beer - her response - look at the board. The board was to out right with a ton of beers. we asked for quick guidance and she just pushed back and said - you can see the board. bizarre behavior, completely unwelcoming, bordering on rude. I would check the hospitality coaching given to your staff - at least the girl that was working on 11/1. Don't let her or any other servers ruin your great establishment - it matters. read more

Heard of this new brewery through a friend so stopped in a couple weeks ago to check it out. No off-street parking but plenty of spots around the block. Walk in and you have the choice of bar seating, tables/chairs and standing long tables, and an outdoor patio with more seating. It was a hot sunny day and people of all ages were hanging out indoors and on the outdoor patio. Being located in Linden Hills, the customers were perceptively different than those at the breweries in the NE region. Very suburbia in a nutshell. For anyone with sensitive hearing, you're going to want to stay outside based on my personal experience. Back to the beers, we were told they only had 3 but on this visit, there were no less than 11 on the board - 3 saison and a single variety of each of the following styles: Vienna lager, gose, witbier, kolsch, session IPA, American ale, pale ale, stout. The employees seemed upbeat and despite the crowd served our beers quick. We had our sampling of beers. Didn't get the stout. I know. Hoping to secure a patio spot in future visits. read more

Sunday afternoon we decided to step in for a beer and see what all the buzz is about at this quaint (small) corner brew-ship. Though busy as expected it was quite a wait in line for two beers. Only two folks running the tap ship while folks were in line. It wasn't horrible but another person at the taps seemed needed. I got the Kolsch which I am very fond of and it was delish. No complaints. Enjoyed it. Crispy cold and served in a nice glass. My friend got the stout and it was very good also. We hung out - standing outside but it was a beautiful day and we felt welcomed and comfortable though it's a small space. The solo stoves are a big plus - I own one and they are pretty addictive. Lot of nice doggies and kiddos. Enjoyed. read more
