For the most part nothing has changed at all. Decor is still the same with the exception of a refreshed mural. Beers all have new names and I was told they are new recipes yet still taste very similar to what was there before. If you weren't a fan of 612 Brew you will likely not be super impressed with Padraigs but it's always fun to give something new a try. read more

Inaugural visit today. The beertender was friendly. I opted for the Stout & About 4.5% dry stout, it was good. I can't recall but I thought 612 had several high top tables....they're gone now, replaced w my preferred regular height tables. Thanks Padraigs! I knew they were having Adam Turman in to rework his 612 mural, must say I like it! The merch is located below the mural and noticed on the bottom shelves are their games options. They opened at noon today, Sunday, there was one party at a table and one woman seated @ the bar and one at a table so it was pretty quiet. Discovered this gem during the Northeast Art a Whirl! Of course there's tons of breweries to choose from but felt like this was the right size. Right ambience and right service. They have a parking lot. Not too far from bauhaus. Drinks were decently priced and they have a very cute grotto out bs l for live performances! I came to 612 after going to a nearby show to get the free beer and stamp in my Pubpass. I'd stopped in a long time ago, but haven't been in years. The atmosphere was great! They were pretty busy for a Friday night, but their patio was open, they had live music that was fun. This is a cool spot! Made a pitstop here this weekend with some friends and had a wonderful time. The outdoor area with the live band was awesome! Made for a fun, enjoyable experience. Love 612!!! Went last year with our 2021 Pub Pass and was happy to see it in this years 2022 PP. the bartender has always been friendly and the space is smaller inside but has a large outdoor patio area. Plenty of parking and even corn hole (or bags!!) and a pinball machine. read more

The good- the patio is really nice, tucked away and somewhat hidden in a highly trafficked intersection. Fun to being in food or eat at a food truck while enjoying the patio and sometimes the live music. The not so good- the beer leaves a lot to be desired. Not sure what is missing in the process here, but the flavors are generally muddled and bland, even when something sounds interesting on paper. read more

I came here with my partner from a Groupon and it was great- I definitely recommend getting the Groupon (free flight, 2 glasses of your choice and 2 souvenir glasses to keep)! My only criticism is that there isn't a lot of beers to choose from and there is limited seating inside but there is plenty of out door seating since is nice during the spring/summer months. There was also a couple dogs when we went which was nice! Unfortunately there is no food but still cool place to hang out. read more

Came to 612 by accident, I had a business meeting at Spyhouse saw the brewery inside the classic building it is housed in. I had tasted and enjoyed their beers over my first year in Minnesota I simply couldn't believe my luck at spotting it 100 feet below the stairwell. Upon entry it is a warm fun environment with ample seating and space. It is a low pressure feel with the staff being really helpful at understanding the flavors of each of their beers. In a star where beer is a plenty, 612 has some distinctive notes and flavors that are really enjoyable. We sampled a flight and finished with two pints of their IPA featured that day. Couldn't have picked a better spade and this place has some great people, I would recommend grabbing some friends and enjoying all 612 has to offer. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday to have a little refreshment while my wife was at an art exhibit down the block. Talked to Matt who was working. Explained I didn't like hoppy beers and he recommended an ale that was very, very good. He also gave me a taste of one of the less bitter IPA's. Not my thing, but it was quite good for an IPA - not too bitter. They have an excellent serving area along with a patio area outside. I visited 612Brew for their weekday Thursday trivia and had an absolute blast while being here! Pros: They have a good variety of different beers, all tasty! It seems like they have different events every day of the week, the environment was great and the staff was super friendly. Cons: I got a little lost finding the brewery since it is kind of hidden (would recommend better signage to find the location) and there is no food menu. I've been to 612 a handful of times now, and I would call it one of Northeast Minneapolis' more underrated gems! Now I understand other reviewers not loving their limited selection because they aren't wrong, it is limited at around 8 beers or so at a time. However, they do what they do well! There aren't a ton of options like some of the bigger breweries, but I haven't had a bad beer here! Thankfully parking is easy since their building with spy house and core power has a decent sized free lot! They also have a ton of outdoor seating and games (weather permitting, thx Minnesota). They don't have food other than pretzels, but they welcome you ordering or bringing any of your favorites which is awesome! I've also been to a few charity events here, so we love a local brewery that helps local charities be successful, too!! I will certainly be back! read more

Stop #2 on yelp beer tour. The outdoor patio was beautiful and spacious with boulders. It was below a road though. I enjoyed Cloud Wars with notes of lemongrass, clove and banana. I don't think I could drink a pint of it though. Also tried Sorachi Ace and Gateway Park Pils. These were good but nothing blew me away or had me wanting more. The food truck was also out of commission. They share space with other businesses so bathrooms out in hallway. They also look to have a meeting room. This brewery was alright, but I wasn't blown away so probably won't make a special trip to return. read more

612 is a fun brewery to visit. Unlike most taprooms, the brewing equipment is right out in the open on the side of the taproom, so you can get a good view of how the car is made, so to speak. We found the service to be friendly and had a great time playing with the Trivial Pursuit cards out on the tables. It's a fun taproom to visit and have a taste or two. I love that they offer flights here (wish more taprooms in the area would do the same) and the prices are reasonable. I'll be honest -- not our favorite tap room in the area, but we are spoiled with such a great selection here in the Twin Cities. But it's still a fun visit and worth the time to go. read more

We went to 612 Brew and we're surprised to find out that the we're celebrating Oktoberfest with live music. They have good seating both indoors and outdoors, and the beer was good - they definitely have some good IPAs! They have some board games to play too, which was nice. read more

Thought I'd give them another try after reading the honest article about the quality control issues. Stopped by on a Monday night, not crazy busy but maybe 2-3 dozen customers, mostly outside. This place is so unique. My first impression I had of this brewery was as a pedestrian on the sidewalk above. I was so envious of everyone enjoying the patio space below! It wasn't until a few weeks ago that I was able to enjoy it myself. The patio is dog friendly and there are plenty of big tables (high and low tops) and a nice little pond/waterfall to sit by. I don't remember much about the beer.. nothing terribly special but it was one of the cheaper breweries I've been to. The parking lot is small but I found space to park despite the busy place. Took me an extra couple minutes to figure out how to get down to it. It's like an alley way you turn into so it's a little hidden. I can't give it 5 stars yet HOWEVER, attended their opening night tonight and definitely impressed. Nice, expansive space. Concrete but felt comfortable - perhaps because it was packed with like minded beer heads, but a great space none the less. Convenient by bike, car or bus. Delicious offerings. Tried the 4 beer sampler (Zero Hour, Six, Rated R & Bitter Cold Winter IPA) for $11 and then had a pint of Bitter Winter for $5. Their beer is just fantastic. I am hands down an IPA fan all the way and theirs did not disappoint. I actually like their seasonal (Bitter Winter IPA) better than the standard (Rated R) but both/all were still delicious. big fan of the space. All the bartenders were kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I've never really been to a brewery or microbrewery but when I saw this deal on LivingSocial, I had to try it. I can honestly say I don't know very much about beer so I thought this would educate me. The deal was for a flight (I learned that this was 4 beer samples) and two pints then two complimentary glasses with the logo. It was a bit difficult to find because it is kind of hidden but I loved the interior. It was buzzing (busy but not overcrowded) and since it was our first time, we were a bit lost. The guy wearing the 612Brew shirt just nodded at us as we walked over to a table. We sat down for about 10 minutes before I got up and went to the bar to inquire how the whole experience worked. The bartender was friendly and she explained everything to the rookie me. I learned about what a hoppy beer is and I DO NOT LIKE it! But i really enjoyed the other beers and I will be visiting this establishment again. Definitely recommend. read more

When it comes to tap room ambiance in the Twin Cities, 612 is tough to beat. It's located in the Broadway building, which certainly lends to the aesthetic. Large murals, highly visible brewing equipment and a nice patio also add to the visual appeal. That said, it's a brewery, and I haven't come across much at 612 that separates them from the pack. They typically have about a handful of house brews on tap at any given time and I have found their typical year-round beers to be pretty one note, though a couple of the seasonals have been pretty enjoyable (specifically, the Mary Ann and Tequila Mockingbird). Overall, its got a great ambiance, friendly service and makes for an enjoyable stop to wet your whistle (usually a food truck on site and they have a nice stash of board games, etc.), but if beer is your number one priority I would seek out other destinations in Nordeast. read more

I absolutely have had the best time at this place - talk about a community hangout! The owners have really well thought out the atmosphere they're going for, which is that you're drinking beer made right behind you. The brewers are easily found most nights that the place is open and having talked to Adam, he is about as down to earth and approachable as brewers get, even willing to talk details with people who know nothing about the brewing process. Now on to the beers, a flight for $11 is a great deal and a perfect way to figure out what kind of beer you like the most. I got a flight and then ended up happily trading the rest of my "six" for another friend's Rated R. Is this food truck in the parking lot thing going to be happening all the time? My boyfriend is into IPAs so I thought we'd give it a try. 612 Brew is conveniently located off Central and Broadway in NE Minneapolis. There is street parking in addition to a small shared parking lot in the back. On this Friday night there was a music trivia event. We had our flight of beers and 2 pints. We stayed for about 2 hours playing the trivia game and other board games. The place was not overly crowded. It was helpful that there were two rooms with table and bar seating. I enjoyed our time here and would recommend checking it out. The staff were friendly and the establishment was clean. I'm not a big beer fan but I enjoyed what I ordered. I enjoy making it up to Minneapolis a couple times a year and I thoroughly enjoy the craft brewery scene. I had high hopes for 612 Brew and unfortunately they fell short. The space is beautiful and the outdoor area was teaming with people as it should be on a gorgeous afternoon. The beer was fine but not a standout and nothing to get excited about. When we ordered our beers the man helping us got us our order and immediately closed our tab. No pleasantries exchanged, no "do you want to keep the the tab open or close it?," no questions, no well wishes of any sort, nothing. More of a "why did you bother me" kind of vibe. This was my friend and I's first stop on our Brew-Hop excursion (followed by Able, Indeed, Tattersall Distillery, and Sociable Werks Cidery) I loved 612 Brew. If I lived in Minneapolis, I would come here all the time. We arrived around 12:30 and were some of the first people there. We grabbed a spot at the bar and asked if we could watch the Virginia Tech game. The bartender searched through all the channels several times to help us out, which I gratefully appreciated. My friend and I both ordered flights here. They have 8 beers on tap, 6 regular and 2 rotating seasonal brews. Flights come with 4 pours for $11. Not bad! In addition, they were extremely nice and would let you sample a beer before tasting. Halfway through our flights, several girls arrived with laptops and textbooks to study, which I thought was an amazing idea and wondered why I didn't do that in college!! There were tons of free games to play including apples to apples, yatzhee, monopoly, quelf, cards against humanity, etc. 612 Brew has an awesome assortment of merch to purchase including shirts, koozies, magnets, and dog treats. Good beers, cool outdoor patio area, great food trucks, nice staff, overall a great experience. When I've visited this has been the least busy of the area tap houses, which isn't necessarily good or bad - it just depends what you are looking for. The beers are good, nothing that stood out as must have in my experience but the rotations keep it interesting. They have board games to keep your attention, a TV that isn't interesting, and an open format that lets you peer into the brewery floor. Overall I will certainly be back especially if one of my favorite food trucks is outside. In the summer I don't think you can beat this patio. Make sure to check out the rest of the interior of the building, it is quite neat. read more

I came here on a brewery tour and loved the selection of beers. The space has some great niches and cool retro style. There is a big painting of Bob Dylan that won me over. I enjoyed the sunshine on the large concrete patio and appreciated the historic aspect: the building is about 100 years old. I'd love to see some more plants outside to soften the concrete, but that's just me. The owner is warm and friendly and takes pride in his work. An authentic Minnesota experience. read more

Maybe I've been #soblessed enough to never have a meh Brewery experience, but 612brew will be honored with my first "OK" experience at a MN brewery. Things I Liked; -Good Music -Friendly staff -Games available (even shuffleboard) And of course, there were things that left more to be desired. I can honestly say I didn't love any of the beers. We did the seasonal flight consisting of Hefeweizen, Shere Khan, Bitter Cold, and the Cloud Wars and I didn't care for any of them. The Shere Khan features Indian spices (garam masala among others) and as an Indian food lover, I thought this might translate well to beer...except it didn't. I'm not gonna pretend to be some sort of beer expert but it tasted clove-y to me. I may have also grimaced a few times after my first sip of each beer. When the bartender jokes (I hope it was a joke) that their art sells better than their beer, you know you are in trouble. Before I jump into the beer I'll cover everything else first. The location is nice. Plenty of parking, very open, lots of seats. In terms of style it just feels like your standard brewery. Nothing really unique about it. You could be in any brewery in any state. The service was decent. Not the most attentive of bartenders, but not the worst. Now for their beer. I judge breweries off one of two things. Either they swing for the fences with wild styles or they make the "classic" flavors but do it amazingly well. 612 seemed to be going the classics route. Their selection just wasn't that impressive for a brewery their size. They had maybe 6-8 beers, but two of them were out, so really 4-6 beers. The beers were meh. Nothing crazy developed. I tried the Shere Khan which didn't blow me away. I've had really good Indian spiced beers before, but they are tricky to do. Too much and you blow out everything else, but too little and you don't get the desired effect. It just seemed like a beer that wasn't sure what it was yet. I think all their beers seemed to just lack a sense of maturity. It seems more like a brewery that is in love with the idea of being a brewery than one that actually has the beer down. The brewery came before the beer in this case. 10/100 read more
