Went to this location with two Priority Mail packages, only to find their computer system down and unable to process packages. Then went to the Manhattan Beach location only to find it closed on a day when it should have been open. What should have taken five minutes took about an hour. This location is terrible. They close for 2-3 hours at a time sometimes for no reason. Lunch is no longer than 1 hour. She gave no additional information then accused me of an attitude. I do not trust her with packages. What I like about the Hermosa Beach Post Office is that the employees remember you. Parking is decent. There is a small parking lot for you to park at.. but if the lot is full then you have to park further, or pay to park at the metered parking spaces. This post office is kind of small... and i'm not sure how busy it gets, but when I last here there was only three people in line. Also, they sell a ton of different greeting cards here, so in case you need to send your Grandmother in Florida a birthday card, you can buy it and mail it in one place instead of stopping at Ralphs or Rite Aid first. Another bonus about the Hermosa Beach Post Office is they have mailbox rentals here. read more

Arrived at USPS Hermosa Beach at 3:12pm on Thursday 10/1 and it was closed. No signs posted. Other customers arriving after me were also caught off guard for this random closure. Went to USPS 1103 W Gardena Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247 on 9/30 at 3:30pm and they refused a 50lb package because "they just didn't want to" and closed the gates with no one at the counter. Meanwhile there's a line of customers. As a small business owner, USPS clearly doesn't want our much needed business. read more

I feel this location is a hidden gem, at least during the weekday mid-day, as everytime I come here there's no line and the service is fast and friendly. They seem to staff this one with customer service centric employees who aren't of the "Postal" quirky variety you sometimes often find here and there either with nasty dispositions or deadpan. So, for that reason, it's a location worth going to check out if you're in the area, as opposed to the other locations. I'll say this 'tho. I believe it's a small location, so only has 1 window staffed for the most part, so if you come and see a line, you may opt to go to the other USPS locations, and the Main Post Office is just a few mins away and has a self-service kiosk to process postage/shipments there too. Parking is easy, sort of. They have their own lot and then the adjacent street has unlimited parking except for when street cleaning (Tues 9:30am - 11:30am), and there's also meters around too. read more

I just experienced extremely unprofessional behavior from the post office clerk (Jackie of course). I will attempt to describe the events that occurred as simply as possible but in summery she told me to F*** off. At approximately 4:10pm on Friday (1/7/22), I approached the desk with an envelope and previously filled out (by my wife) address slips (2 certified mail receipts and one priority mail express certificate). Before I could explain, Jackie started pulling apart the stickers and then appeared confused. I attempted to explain that I needed to send my marriage certificate to our officiant to sign and I wanted to include a second "prepaid" certified letter so that she could then forward it to the California marriage offices. Essentially, I needed advice on what the best method would be. I was unable to get a complete sentence out before she interrupted me to explain (wrongly) what I needed. Again, I tried to speak and she cut me off, now being extremely condescending. This happened about a dozen times before she handed me a new certified slip to fill out. She was rather aggressive, but I thought perhaps she's having a bad day, and walked away to fill out an additional address slip. With 8 other individuals in line, witnessing this interaction, she shouted at me, "Are you going to listen to me!?" She took her mask off (California mandate requires all individuals where a mask inside a business right?) and continued to raise her voice at me. Dumbfounded, I walked back and said "Yes ma'am, I'm trying to understand." Again, more or less, she began accosting me in front of everyone as if I was doing anything wrong. I was trying to ask questions and understand, but she was more concerned about talking down to me then actually helping. She then said "figure it out yourself! You're on your own!" I can not express, how confused I was as to why she was being so rude to me. Again, I walked away to write on the slip as she continued to verbally assault me for no reason. I had enough at this point and turned to her to tell her she was being extremely rude and I don't know why. It escalated, words were said, including her telling me to "F*** off!" as I was walking out. I told her I would be reporting her for this behavior and preceded to a different branch in Redondo Beach were the employees are actually helpful and have far more respect. I will not return to this Post Office as long as this woman works there and I am extremely upset that she would treat any individual this way. Additionally, it occurred to me after the fact, that I have witnessed this woman treat others at this branch with similar behavior. I remember a handful of times prior where a different patron and her were shouting back and forth. After looking at Yelp, it's apparent there is a theme. The numerous negative reviews on Yelp and Google about this woman should say it all. This woman should not be working in a public facing position at all and frankly needs to be fired yesterday for speaking to any individual in this manner. As my wife said (also works for the US gov), "she is lucky she works for the government because she would have been let go after the first or second violation." I hope USPS finally takes action against this woman because this was absolutely unacceptable. read more

I've had the same problems as many others here described with a certain employee. I very rarely mail stuff, so I always need help with finishing up my packages to make sure I don't mess them up - and she just refuses to helps me. Not only that, but she also makes a scene out of it. Last time I tried to mail a product back to the UK she flat out tried to convince not to do it because it would be too much work (even though I already had everything and just wanted to make sure everything looked right before closing the package). I went there three times and every single time I came back home with my package. The fourth time I went there another guy helped me and I was in and out of there in less than a minute. Cutsomer service was great and I was able to get in and out within minutes. I was the only customer on a Monday morning and this usually isnt the case when I go to any other post office in the southbay. This location is pretty small but they have everything you need as far as boxes, tape, etc. The parking lot is really small and is shared with about 4 other businesses. Close at 5 pm but if you want to drop off mail of ANY size after hours? Good luck... the drop box on the inside was locked and the public drop box outside by the sidewalk was too. I've NEVER seen that... the sole purpose to even have either of this is for after hours use. This is not NYC... we do not need to be overly concerned of secure mail being stolen. For the people who complain about this post office, please, allow me to retort.... 1. A few blocks to the south, just off PCH in Redondo Beach, you have the Via El Prado Branch, just a few blocks north on PCH, you have the Manhattan Beach Branch. Just a few blocks east on Artesia, you have yet another Redondo Beach Branch, and don't forget the Post Office at 1815 Hawthorne blvd. also in Redondo, which is just 3.9 miles from the Pier Ave. P.O. - So, in about 5 square miles, you've got no less than FOUR post offices! And it's not like this is a high density area with tenement housing, take a look down Pier Ave. sometime, what do you see?? THE OCEAN! You think this is bad? Try mailing something from a P.O. in Oakland, or downtown L.A., and then get back to me. 2. How can I break this to you gently? The Post Office is run by the Federal Government, it's not The Ritz Carlton or Nordstroms, O.K.? There is no valet service, no concierge, no amenities , and no "customer service". It's staffed by a handful of working class people who will probably be screwed out of their pensions before they retire. Welcome to the world that most of us live in, we're so glad you could take a break from your glass and steel mansion on the strand to join us. 3. The only problem I've ever experienced in this branch has been with the customers. The guy with the Rolex watch endlessly pondering the .75 cent price difference between delivery confirmation or just tracking. The woman with the pocket dog that took a crap on the counter, or the guy so strung out on Xanax and Oxy that he couldn't put together a priority mail box so he had to call his assistant to help him, or the teenager who was indignant over the fact that her passport wouldn't be ready in time for her trip to Paris this weekend. After viewing a sign at the Redondo Beach Post Office that advised their computers were down and they would have a late opening I made the quick trip to Hermosa Beach Post Office. I arrived at the Post Office to find a semi long line and 1 employee working. When you are the only employee working it is your duty to multitask meaning do more than 1 thing at once. A gentleman was a couple people ahead of me in line and had a question in regards to a PO Box. The postal worker stopped helping people in line, left the manned registered and moved to the side to answers the questions and help said customer fill out the application. This is something you can do while still helping people in line it is that simple. This Post Office has a PO Box service and offers mail boxes in the parking lot for easy drive up and drive out service. I just do not understand how slow & lazy the Post Office seem to be these days. I try and avoid paying the extra prices at Mailbox Etc or FedEx places but at these places you tend to get customer service unlike the Post Office. read more

I live pretty close to this PO so when I need to buy stamps or some other monotony related to snail mail, I usually come here. But I despise coming here. Why? - 1 Star - Parking. Sucks. Only a few spots in the little strip mall, and pulling out is always a paiiiiiiiin as the exit drive practically dumps you into the worst planned intersection in the town. - 1 Star - Waiting and waiting. I have never had a quick experience here. NEVER. - 1 Star - Service. Maybe I haven't had quick waits here as the service is ssssssssllllooooooooooooooooooow. There is usually one window open. Yup, one. How many do they have? Four. And that one lady can wander off to the back and get "bizzy" with whatever her little RnB listening soul drives her to do to avoid the line out front. - 1 Star AGAIN - I gotta harp - Service. The attitude of the two ladies who work here is so "You gotta be the dumb-est-ass customer evah". They are so condescending, snotty and full-of-themselves that I dread coming. Not that they are particularly rude to me, but that I wince inside watching them drum their acrylic nails on the counter, arching their overly plucked eyebrows in snide supercilious reactions to any questions a customer might have. - 1 Star - Supplies. She is a vile woman who is rude to everyone she encounters!!! I live close enough to walk to this office so it sucks that now I have to go to Redondo to avoid her but it's totally worth it!! To make things even worse now they're so lazy at the Hermosa branch that they don't scan the packages out, therefore there's no tracking info and no way to prove you actually mailed the item!!! ABUSIVE!!!!! I have never been treated so poorly as I was at the Hermosa Beach post office. 1. I was screamed at by the lady there (and you all know who I'm talking about) 2. I'm in there twice a week and every time, I see her yelling at someone, being abusive and badgering them 3. She was abusive towards me verbally, menacing and bullying. This may seem extreme because IT IS EXTREME 4. every time I overnight express a package with her, the package ends up arriving a week later. I've gone to this post office to mail packages and get money orders because the RBPO always has a line. I haven't often encountered a line here. Yes, the parking sucks and the exit does dump you out into a terrible intersection. As far as the staff is concerned, I haven't had any bad experiences with the ladies here. What I have observed are rude customers who show up unprepared and then get uppity with the clerks when they can't do what they want. Just the other day I saw a woman arrive with an unsealed box that wasn't labelled. She was told that she should seal up the box and the only tape provided by the USPS is for Priority Mail. It turned out that the woman didn't want to pay the extra $2.50 for Priority. And the box didn't have any cushioning inside so the contents were loose in the box. So the woman stomped out angrily -- blaming her own unpreparedness on the clerk. And to her credit the clerk was quite cheerful and helpful when I got to her. read more

This post office is close to where I live.... other than that it is good for nothing. Minus the ridiculous line, the biggest problem isn't so much of the wait, it is more the fact that every time I mail a package, like anything with a bubble pack or in a priority mail flat rate box, it never gets there as suggested. I have mailed 2 packages to Australia, one was just regular, 2 babies tees in a regular bubble pack, took 6 months!! 6 Months!!! Mailed in January, got there in June! When I complained, they said it was customs in Australia. Ok. Fine. Maybe it is. Then I mailed a Large Flat Rate box in Pasadena to Australia again, took 5 business day. Nope, not custom then. Ok. This time in December, I mailed another Large Flat Rate Priority Box to Australia from Hermosa Beach, to this date, January 24th, still has not arrived in Australia! 10 days was the maximum. Seems like it's Hermosa that is the issue with overseas mailing, not Australian custom. Advise- don't mail your packages here, they charge you and will never make it there! read more

Each time I walk in I have a smile on my face and I pray and hope it will be a better day. The last straw was a couple of weeks ago when a lady (whom is in a lot of other reviews as well) Is so SO rude, I can't even believe she has kept her job.
