Have not had a stellar experience with management on multiple occasions, unsurprisingly all during the move out.
called twice prior to move out to ask about getting a prorated rate (as i was moving out after the 1st of the month). First time they said i have 5 days, after that the full month will be charged. Got the call that our new home was ready so i called again (the day before we moved out the unit) and asked again about the rate- they said to stop by the office once the unit was emptied. So i did, and was point blank met with "we didn't get 10 days notice." Like....no, you couldn't have told me that when i called yall?
The real kicker isn't exactly management's fault, but some weight falls on their shoulders as it is their insurance company. During moving out, i noticed a significant amount of water intrusion (thanks, Ian!) that destroyed two mattresses, box springs, and warped a ton of wooden furniture. I got management involved and we both took photos and i did everything they instructed me to regarding filling out and submitting the insurance claim.
Today as of this review marks five weeks since that claim was submitted. Not once did i receive an update from either the storage unit or the insurance company. The representative never answered their phone, their voicemail was always full, and never responded to emails. Today I remarked i am considering legal action. Funny, as soon as i said that, the insurance company said my claim was denied due to flooding under the door.
That is false as i had an indoor unit and it was in the middle of the room so no water could have entered under the door. Water intrusion came from the wall and surprise surprise everything against the wall got affected. Submitted photos proving no water was on the floor and my unit could not have gotten water under the door. Still talking to lawyers until it is resolved. Again, not exactly the fault of management but it IS their insurance company. read more
