When I walked in, the self service kiosk had a pretty long line, but I was able to quickly drop my package into the package drop without any issues. What I didn't realize is that the retail counter stays open until 6 p.m., which ended up being really convenient. Instead of waiting in the kiosk line, I was able to go straight to a clerk, who scanned my QR code and got my package processed in just a couple of minutes. The entire process was quick, seamless, and the employee who helped me was friendly and efficient. It's always nice when a shipping trip is easier than expected. If you have a package that requires a QR code, it's worth checking if the counter is still open. It can save you quite a bit of time.

I had to visit this location twice over the winter. First visit: To have something corrected on our marriage license since the Middletown location made yet another mistake(the lady out there made a half-dozen mistakes on our license, five of which we caught when we were there). This was a simple in-out. The lady told us we could've waited until we filed it to have them correct(white it out)/to save us a trip, but I didn't want to wait(a-n-x-i-e-t-y about such things). Second visit: A return to drop off and file the marriage. Again.. a simple in-out during a snowy time in the city. We went ahead and paid for 2 certified copies. Both times were great. The employees were nice, helpful, and talkative(without doing too much). Parking seems to be easier downtown now... they have signs posted around for street parking so you can text a number and pay/reload your time. I like that. Every city should implement it. The building is also an old courthouse, so it has that historical flair. Good visit. If I ever need to go in for tag renewal, I wouldn't hesitate to use the downtown branch again.

This is my regular US Post Office located in downtown Shelbyville. Since we live out in the rural…read morecountry area of Shelby County we invested in a Post Office box when we first moved to Kentucky. We have never regretted that since we can't see our street mail box at the end of our long driveway from our house. I can't tell you how many times we've had to replace our street mail box when vandals decide to drive the country roads and smash mail boxes for fun. Needless to say all important mail goes to the Post Office. As for counter service for mailing packages this Post Office is convenient for me. It has a small parking lot that includes two handicap parking spaces. Unless patrons of the nearby court house park in this lot there is sufficient space especially early afternoon. The counter service has one employee during the lightest periods but has space to have up to three employees during heavier times. Most of the employees are quite capable. During hours the the counter is closed you can still enter the lobby to mail letters inside. The lobby also has a display stand that is always stocked with an assortment of Priority Shipping boxes. With Christmas right around the corner I will be back on Monday with all of my boxes packed, labeled, and ready to send. Thanks for the wonderful service!

We opted for the office closest to our house which is the Fairdale branch. There are plenty of free parking spaces in the lot. Once we entered the office the waiting room was full. We took the next number which was 39 and found a seat to wait. The number being served was 17. It was about a 45 minute wait. Daymara was the clerk who assisted us. She was friendly, polite and effieient. She had to fax the info to Frankfort to have the title released from the finance company and said it would take 5 to 10 minutes. She asked us to step aside so she could assist another customer while we waited for a response from Frankfort. Once she finished with the next customer she promptly called us back to her window and completed the necessary paperwork and we were done. Kind of a hassle to spend an hour when our transaction literally took 2 minutes but that is the process.

Many of her leads came over to help us all since this wasn't typical. Time to close came but the hung in there and got us finished up and taken care of. Hats off to them all. This is the best BMV in the area.

Motor vehicles department, here we go right?!…read more Actually here we go! Although this process has taken me eight weeks, the car is finally registered here in Indiana. Now coming from Nevada to new state, new rules. This state requires the "actual title," to be on file. My car belongs to USAA, and was registered in Las Vegas. Nevada uses a digital file system. The title had to be mailed here to be a physical record on file in order to be eligible for registration. They check the VIN too. Now that all this is done the registration process all done. And every time I have come to the DMV, before you can sit down your number is called. The place is effectively efficient when it comes to getting it done. Now show up and get your new license; registration, or boat license. It all happens here at the bureau. Make sure and bring all paperwork. Or it will be another visit.

I attended a developer panel where the topic was about getting your first job in the industry. They…read morehad four speakers which introduced themselves and spoke about their first job experiences both good and bad. It was a very interesting and informative meetup. I believe that a little over ninety people attended. The venue was nice. The only negative thing that I have to say, which didn't have anything to do with the meetup itself, but it was with the concern of leaving the building. Once leaving, a group of us decided to take the stairs because there was only 1 elevator. We was on the 4th floor. Once we got to the 1st floor to exit the building , the door was locked. So, we had to walk back to the 4th floor, which once we got there, that door was also locked, so we was trapped in the staircase. Luckily, people was still waiting on the elevator and they heard us knocking. To me, that was very dangerous. But, besides that, I enjoyed the venue and the meetup.
