It isn't difficult to get to and while there is usually a line I don't usually have to wait long. Let's keep it real: old people use the post office and they're not playing on their phones. The thing I like most about this post office is that the employees are friendly. They also at least pretend to share my enthusiasm for postage.

The clerk was nice enough to help me out - no lie my total was $100. I had a few packages. Of course the store filled up within 1 min of me going to the counter. Yes I was crazy embarrassed. I swear it was Christmas presents not toilet paper. Another employee eventually come up from the back to help the long line that was forming. My lady was very nice and didn't make me feel like an ass. Worth the extra drive to go to this location.

I do NOT mind late mail too much but I do mind not having my mail picked up and just tossing my mail into a chair on my front porch. I hope this does NOT happen again.

I was running errands in Middletown recently and realized that I needed to drop something off at the post office. I pulled out my phone to search for the closest one and saw that it was in nearby Anchorage, and just a few minutes' drive. I set my map to go there and was on my way. As I approached, the hustle and bustle of Shelbyville Rd gave way to the bucolic peace of Anchorage. I followed gently winding roads veiled with leafy trees until I reached the quaint Post Office. Inside it was quiet, and a friendly (!) employee immediately helped me get my item mailed. No waiting required, as I was the only person in the post office that day. We chatted pleasantly while she weighed and printed my postage, and I was quickly in my way. A little gem of a find, this USPS location is sure to put a smile on your face as well!

We have never regretted that since we can't see our street mail box at the end of our long driveway from our house. I can't tell you how many times we've had to replace our street mail box when vandals decide to drive the country roads and smash mail boxes for fun. Needless to say all important mail goes to the Post Office. As for counter service for mailing packages this Post Office is convenient for me. It has a small parking lot that includes two handicap parking spaces. Unless patrons of the nearby court house park in this lot there is sufficient space especially early afternoon. The counter service has one employee during the lightest periods but has space to have up to three employees during heavier times. Most of the employees are quite capable. During hours the the counter is closed you can still enter the lobby to mail letters inside. The lobby also has a display stand that is always stocked with an assortment of Priority Shipping boxes. With Christmas right around the corner I will be back on Monday with all of my boxes packed, labeled, and ready to send. Thanks for the wonderful service!

Having something like this right by the library adds character and charm to the community and makes a simple walk feel like a mini art experience. We participated in an afternoon tour of My Old Kentucky Home and received a group rate of $12 per person since we purchased at least 10 tickets. The tour of the home is self-guided and typically takes less than an hour and then can allow extra time if needed to check out the grounds and/or the gift shop. On this day, however, we had a wonderful tour guide who was impressive with her knowledge about the house and the residents. The house is beautifully maintained and the grounds are also pristine. The visitor center had seating with the option to view a film while waiting. There is also a gift shop filled to the brim with a multitude of items. Plenty of parking. Restroom facilities are well maintained. Overall, a well maintained historical property.

According to KY legend, Stephen Foster wrote the song "My Old Kentucky Home" that became the offical state song, while staying at Federal Hill. The park has a beautiful visitors center and the staff in the visitors center was very welcoming and quite knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the timing didn't work for us to take a tour of the manison (hours are on the hour and last 45 minutes). We missed the 2pm tour and couldn't do the 3pm tour since we needed to be back in Louisville to pick up the grandkids. We did, however, take a walking tour of the grounds and we got to see the outside of the manison, the gazebo, the spring house and the Stephen Foster statue. We were there on a beautiful (70 degree) day in February. Despite today's beautiful weather, the gardens still thought it was winter. We want to come back when the gardens are in bloom and when we have time to take a tour of the manison. Admission to the state park and the grounds is FREE. There is a charge for a guided tour of the manison.
