As noted by other reviewers, this postal service branch is going downhill to abysmally low levels of service at a plummeting pace! Ever since its most exceptional employee, John, retired, customer service has lapsed to an unacceptable degree. Never mind the broken and disabled customer service counter partition, left neglectfully in its downward and closed position, has gone unrepaired for literally MONTHS now. Yellow pickup notices are being negligently not put into boxes even when parcels have been known to be already delivered. More outrageous still: We recently received a most obnoxious email from the USPS, falsely accusing us of leaving our box with a supposed overflow of mail, threatening to close the box outright in 30 days were not one of four supposed options for correction not chosen. Two of those options, naturally, included either purchase of a larger, exorbitantly priced box, or some inexplicable Caller Service for mail pickup which was never even linked or described. We promptly visited the branch to determine the truth: Some clerk, or clerks, had mistakenly MIXED UP our scant stack of mail with that of another customer, whose box number was in close proximity and just six digits removed from our own box number; hence the obvious confusion. Worse, however, that other customer's mail was a real overflow and literally reams of neglected mail belonging to them had been collected separately and placed in a big plastic bin for pickup. Our scant mail was mistakenly MIXED IN with that customer's neglected mail overflow, resulting in the false accusation and unjustified threat of box closure. The comedy of errors continued with a box lockout and an outright refusal to give the patron his mail, for absolutely no valid reason, as the box account is currently active and paid! Their pretext: neglecting to put the patron's updated box application in their system for a box maintained since 2006! This kind of clear staff incompetence is unacceptable and should be promptly addressed and corrected for the benefit of all customers concerned. read more

Rude customer service. I hate going to this post office but it's the closest one near me. I have a P.O.Box bc I travel alot due to my employment which causes me to have mail backup. This is why I have a PO Box. When I pick up my mail the clerks have made statements like "Why do you travel so much" or "Wow that must be nice I wish I could let my mail pile up bc I'm traveling". Once an employee yelled out to the other employees "Oh look who's here Box number---- to pickup their mail". I was so angry I just walked out. No wonder they have such a poor rating. read more

not to be rude but this was possibly the worst customer service i have received at a USPS lol. upon my arrival, the store was uneventful without an clients needing attention and the clerk (male, bearded, receipt stating clerk#17) was very unhelpful. i stated that i had a return to which he pointed and said "okay use the tape" to tape down the label. then when i asked if i am the one who is supposed to tape up the bag to seal its contents (or if he was going to do it if needed to check if the internal labels are there) he just pointed to the other tape and said "use big tape". upon checkout, the machine asks if our service received was courteous and i was obligated to hit the green button as he was right in front of me just staring and could see the response i would be choosing, and although i gave the green smiley face of approval, it was truly undeserving. and all in the name of making some returns. read more

This post office has gotten so bad recently, I've been going there for over 10 yrs but now I use Postal Annex down by Trader Joe's. The USPS on Oak Grove Rd is a disaster, a lot of our bills we sent out have not made it to there destination, they have been closing the whole place when the one employee takes his lunch so you can't even get to your PO Box to get your mail, the main employee seems like he hates his job and the outgoing boxes people drop off are just sitting there in a huge pile which should be getting scanned in but he was just messing with his cell phone instead of working and his customer service horrible . Someone in charge needs to go ck this place out and do something about! read more

First time here and good experience! They were fast and efficient and the process for our passport renewal did not take long.

The post office is conveniently located in the Nob Hill shopping center where there is ample parking. This is one of the post office branches that happens to be open Saturdays from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm. When we stopped in around 10:30 they weren't busy at all. They do have a passport office but it is not open on Saturdays. read more

We lost 2 tracking receipts. Came back the next day and Clerk 23 (sorry didn't get his name) was able to recover the receipts. He was very patient and helpful. In a world where we are being told NO...for most everything...he made our day. This small Post Office Station on Ygnacio Valley has a large parking lot (shared with the plaza) and they are open for self-service postage and letter drop off all week long. There is no place to deposit a package on weekends. I had a small parcel that needed to be shipped but had no place to put it. I eventually thought it'd be a good idea to see if it fit in the blue boxes out front. However, this was not a good idea, and the package got stuck. I couldn't even get it out. I came back the next day and it was gone so I guess they do check their boxes for things like this, but I felt pretty stupid about it. The self-service machines will print out forever postage for you ($0.49 each), but it's just a plain white sticker - no fancy, cute picture options. read more

I have been going to this USPS for almost a year now and it has improved (cust service) since then. I think the staff has changed for the better and as a result a pleasant experience overall. I remember availing the invite to participate in cust satisfaction survey on your receipt, I guess USPS is listening to their customers.... This location NOW is one of the nicer, clean facility that offers PO Box services and good/fast/friendly staff....The parking lot is not so big it shares with a lot of other businesses you might have to park a little far around busy time read more

I've come here 3 separate times to ship packages for Ebay, and every time I come in, the staff has been incredibly rude and impatient with me. Part of the issue is that it's hard to understand them because they don't speak English very well, but they also mumble and talk very quietly. I've seen other customers struggle with interactions too, so it's not just me. I go here instead of UPS because it's cheaper, but this customer service experience discounts that as a whole. This job could be easily automated/robotic and it would make no difference. read more

The list of places you most hate visiting (in no particular order): -Post office -DMV -Dentist -Doctor However, this post office is not too bad. Line lengths are generally hit or miss, I've been going during lunch and it's been pretty reasonable. There's only two attendants inside but they try to get you in and out and actually help and are very pleasant to boot. On my particular visit today, one of the workers (who was supposed to go on break and had the "Next Window Please" sign up after helping someone) actually stayed to help a few more customers while the other worker was in the back looking something up. He even gave the person in front of me a free tube they could put a future package in to avoid it being damaged in transit. How often does that happen? The parking lot has a lot of space, and a bunch of other useful amenities within the plaza (Chase, BevMo). Close to my work and fast...hallelujah. read more

JOHN does. He's incredible. I'm sad he's retiring but he should be given a C level position so that people can understand how customer service should be. I think I know who all the bad customer service comments are about. I went to this post office to pick up a package. Went to the counter and was greeted sorta matter of factly by a middle aged, cold robotic Asian lady. I was the first one to say hi and she asked what I needed. Politely explained I needed a package I missed. She grabbed the slip without a word, took a few minutes, and came back. If I remember correctly it was something like this: you must sign. Period. After I signed, she just stared at me. I stared at her too. A few seconds passed and I must've lifted an eye brow. After the staring contest was getting boring to her, she said "Don't you want package?" The whole time I was thinking like something was supposed to happen. Perhaps a thank you to confirm I was done with the robotic customer service session. Or a "ok it went through, here's your package." Nothing. Eh, I should expect nothing less. I prefer going to this USPS over the one in downtown. The lines are very hit or miss, but for the past few times I have gone, the line and wait has been pretty short. Plus, there's always the self-service machine that rarely has people in line. The employees have been there for years - they don't always put on the friendliest faces, but they definitely get the job done and have always been helpful. I stopped at this post office yesterday instead of 1) fighting my way down to Broadway and 2) having to deal with the employees and patrons that frequent that location. I was pleasantly surprised to find the place was virtually empty at 10AM! Big plus! Will come back on tax days and hope they don't have the outragous lines the other ones usually do! My only complaint is that today I've tried calling them 4 times and the phone just rings and rings and rings. At this piont, I'd be happy if someone would just pick up and put me on hold - at least I would know that someone is there! read more

I've used this post office mostly during off hours, mid-afternoon or at night. Service has been fine, nothing slower or faster than the other four branches I've used. The self-serve kiosk is alwasys a plus, so I'm grateful that is an option at this location. The main reason I am writing is to single out the employee, John, who works at this branch. Many months ago I thought I had accidentally left something valuable at the kiosk and came back in the next day to see if they had found it. John helped me by checking, then giving me a phone number for subsequent inquiries. He was helpful and earnest in looking around for me. Secondly, just over a week ago I dropped by this branch, after hours due to how hectic it was during Christmas time, and saw a fellow sweeping the lobby. It turned out to be John. He said he was working after hours to help things look decent around there. And I don't think he was being paid for that extra effort. These days, when people can rush around too much, and employees can be anything from bland to rude or lazy, it was refreshing to see John taking his work and workplace and customers seriously. Kind of old school. I like that. I told him he should get promoted. ( Any upper-ups reading this, take it into consideration. ) read more

Really easy to miss the lines here! All the other post offices in the area seem to have long lines no matter what time of day I come, but as long as I beat the lunch rush I always get fast service here. Afternoons are always busy. Staff are pretty friendly, sometimes a bit condescending, but you get that everywhere. read more

I much prefer this location to the branch on Broadway. It's cleaner, less crowded and has an overall friendlier vibe. It has lots of counter space to label or finish packing your parcels and a brighter lobby space. Lots of free parking in this shopping center, so that you're not fighting for a space like the other post office in Walnut Creek. The postal workers here seem to be a bit sharper and happier to help. OMG I finally encountered the cold robotic Asian lady. I only came by to pick up a flat rate box which they failed to replenish on the shelf. I politely asked her if they have any more and she gave me that mean scowl and told me to get in the back of the long line. Thank goodness there was another lady (also asian) who saved my day (thus the 3 stars instead of 1). This is by far the most pleasant USPS post office I have ever been to. Typically just 2 windows open, but hey, that is about the same as the broadway location, which is much much more busy. The ladies and the guy here have always been helpful and patient. And really good attitude. Once I was even came after the doors were closed, and they guy there helped me out anyway. Lots and lots of parking. If you live in the Walnut Creek area, avoid the broadway location and come here instead. Until I found this place I was paying extra and using postal annex type places. This is a great post office. It's so convenient and never super crazy busy. The postal workers are also very friendly unlike a lot of other post offices I have been to. They also have the automated machine to use when you don't have time to go during work hours. read more

This office is good, the line goes quickly (for a post office). They have a passport office which in my opinion is not clearly labeled. But they will take you photo here saving you a trip to a passport photo taking location, (but costing you about double). also there is a $25 fee for applying for a passport in the office instead of online. read more

There is no urgency at this post office. Makes mailing gifts such a chore. I could drive to concord post office and mail my packages in a shorter time than getting behind 2 people here. There is a super friendly man that takes his time and helps get the best deals, and he seems to be genuine and helpful. That's why I go back. When it's the two women I would rather not wait in line and head back there the next time in hopes that the guy is working. Definitely don't go during the holidays. read more

One 2 people in front of me which are now bffs because of all the time we are waiting in line. I never wait more than 15 min even if there are 10 people in line and 2 folks working. It's usually the customer that takes the time by not getting money or packages ready before going up to the window. The bad reviews frustrate me. Seriously, you have a problem waiting for 4 people in line? Don't people realize that without the US Post Office, mailing stuff would be a lot more expensive through private companies? Maybe if the customer was patient and friendly, the employee wouldn't act "robotic". Works for me. Went there this morning because on Saturdays at the main branches there are long lines and few windows open. So I decided to try here, long line, one person at one window, one person in and out at the other window and one person walking through. Now with a line that long, someone should open another window. The individual at the open window was struggling, counting and recounting what ever was being sold to the customer at the window. The person in front of me said this is why I do everything I can online. I agree, I use to use 3 books of stamps a month, now I use 5 books a year. The service was so bad at USPS it prompted me to create a Yelp account to warn everyone about it. I had been waiting for a package for 2 weeks then I decided to check the tracking number. It showed that they "attempted" to drop off package and that they left a notice. THEY DID NOT LEAVE A NOTICE THAT THEY WERE THERE. I left work early to go get my package at the WC office then they told me it was at the office on Ygnacio. How was I supposed to know that if there was no notice or no way of finding out? So I rush over to Ygnacio office and get there just after they close, about 5:10pm. The guy working the counter says he is closing up but I can return in 30 minutes and he'll give me the package. I come back 30 minutes later and ring the doorbell to the back as he instructed me to do. I hear a, "just a minute" so I wait patiently and checking my clock every so often because it has been awhile. Then I hear him say "Oh shit I totally forgot about you". 15 minutes(not exaggerating) have gone by by this time mind you. I give him my pedigree information license, name, address etc. He tells me there is nothing under my name for the package. I ask if its under my roommates name and give him his name. He then tells me it is, but he can't release the package to me for that reason. I tell him I understand and show him an email from my roommates email address to my email address, clearly stating our names detailing the shipping information, tracking numbers etc. He still wouldn't give me my package. In total I wasted 2 hours trying to get this package and lost wages because I left work early especially to get my belongings. This is absolutely the worst customer service I have EVER received and I do not recommend using USPS for any reason what-so-ever. Pay the extra money in shipping and use ANY other carrier. I will copy this review and leave it on both walnut creek locations because the service was so horrible. Andy read more
